I have been coming to this particular Islands for for many years, and totally did not know I didn't write review. Well that changes today. This is one of those places that is so laid-back, that you'd almost want to just hang out the whole day. They have a very low-key vibe. From the decor, to the surfing channels on all the TVs, kind of this place does a great job of giving you that Island vibe. I've never encountered anyone on staff that's been less than friendly, everybody knows what they're doing and really wants to make your stay pleasurable. I've done both bar and table service and both have been excellent and without reproach. The food here is great, all the burgers are top notch. Never had a bad one in the years. I've been coming here today though I had a solid which was their chicken Caesar which was really delicious. If you're really hungry, order it with extra meat and they have really good iced tea. One thing that makes a difference is you and may have clean restrooms, and I have never been to a chain restaurant that has Pina restrooms in this. Whoever the wait staff is that goes in there and doesn't make sure that it's consistently clean. Bottom line? I feel this restaurant is just OK. Last visit there was very underwhelming. I had the nachos, and they were quite soggy without much flavor. I also ordered a pink lemonade and it had a horrific taste. I asked for a regular lemonade instead and it had the exact same taste. It tasted the way gauze smells. I always order lemonade at Islands, so I am not sure what the deal was at this location. I was unable to drink it, but still paid for it. The table was dirty when we sat down, as well as the seats. I ordered a margarita for her because the server didn't even ask her if she wanted anything to drink (mind you, we are both 27 years old). They continued to analyze my card, overly touch my ID, and question me when my DOB is and how old am I. Elena took our orders and brought us water and lemonade. French Fries comes with all sandwiches and burgers and do say yes when asked if you want fries. The fries come in separate baskets and they are still one of my favorites. They are well seasoned, firm and crispy and crunchy and not limp like what I've had at other places. The China Coast Salad tasted different so I'm told by one that orders this everytime we are here. We do not know the reason for it. Otherwise all other orders came and had the expected positive commentary. Malibu burgers were a great hit and so was my Moa Crisp Sandwich. Had seen an article that Islands had a happy hour menu and it's close to home. We don't eat as "big" as when we were younger so we figured we'd share some happy hour food and take it easy. Sliders, "shareable" fries, Tempura Green Beans and a beer. She likes the sliders - And I thought they were good, but I prefer their full size Malibu cheeseburgers for bread-to-meat ratio and flavor. Nonetheless, no complaints for the sliders. The order of shareable fries was LARGER than we expected and very tasty! The Tempura Green Beans were the genuine highlight of the moment. We received good service despite it being pretty busy. The young lady who served us was efficient and friendly. The last couple of times we ate here, we found the din inside the restaurant rather loud making conversation a bit difficult. This time it seemed calmer and that suited us nicely. The restaurant is clean and nicely lighted. The fare was tasty and nicely prepared. The service was good. The happy hour pricing is a good value in today's expensive economy.
