this island's is the best one i have been to. i always sit at the bar, bc the bartender (tall dude) is super attentive and friendly. try ordering the nachos + carnitas minus the CHIPS and ADD FRIES!.... SO BOMB if ur not watching ur weight. Took my son here for his birthday - per his request. He had the tiki tenders and fries... Your typical chicken tenders. I had the fish tacos and Greek salad which were surprisingly very good and left me wanting more. I mixed ranch dressing with Tabasco and added it to the tacos which enhanced the flavor. The waitress was good and on top of her game refilling our drinks and making sure we were doin okay. Parking is validated and it's a great place to take kids, so I highly recommend. read more

Is it just me or did the burgers shrink? I know I haven't grown in a while...even lost some weight. That's when I decided that I don't wanna go back to islands anymore. Layout of the store is weird... so if you park in the garage downstairs, taking the elevator up will deposit you in the back of the store. Then you have to wind you way to the front to get seated, and then possibly wind your way back down the way to came to a booth, which we did. Came here because I was craving a cobb salad, which was way more incredible at the HB location btw. BF went for the bbq burger and substituted his fries for onion rings. Once the food came we never saw our server again, or rather I didn't. Island is a fun place especially for families and little ones. The food is always consistent and it's good. This is not a gourmet burger spot but the quality of food and options is reasonable for the price and it has a nice tropical feel. The nachos are still my all-time favorite! read more

I definitely won't be returning to this Islands. Hungry after a long day of last minute Christmas shopping, a friend and I decided to pop in for a quick bite. We sat at the bar so we could watch some football. I wasn't quite sure if they ran all of their happy hour specials on Sunday, so I clarified with the server if the entire happy hour menu was in effect. He happily said yes it is because football is on. After receiving my bill, it turns out they do NOT have the entire happy hour menu on Sunday and were charging me regular prices. The server apologized saying he didn't realize it was just the wings on happy hour on Sundays. An honest mistake, I understand. But, I asked of they'd still honor the prices since I asked before I ordered. The manager took only $5 off of my bill "giving me a small discount for my inconvenience". She dropped the new check and just left. Definitely poor customer service and managerial skills, I'd say. I didn't argue, paid my bill and left. But on principal alone, she should have honored the happy hour prices since it was her severs mistake. Way too many places to eat at that have better customer service. Ultimate fail. read more

Driving by I noticed they had dining in the sidewalk. We haven't eaten here since before the pandemic and it was one of my daughters favorite places for lunch so I decided to surprise her after her class. Brian our server was kind and brought out a kids menu and crayons to my daughter even tho they didn't have menus. He was also attentive throughout our meal and always asking if we needed anything which was a nice change because most outdoor dining places servers tend to forget about the guests. My daughter had chosen a sunny spot because she was cold but she started to get hot and Peter noticed her sweater on her head and kindly approached her and asked if she wanted an umbrella for some shade. He took the time to set up shade just so she can be more comfortable and was joking and playing with her which is really nice. I'm not a fan of Islands or Bj's. There food is alright. Price: The burgers are pretty pricey, which is one of the reasons that I've only been to islands 2-3 times. One of those times, I went because I had a free meal certificate. Quality: Islands is supposed to serve higher quality burgers but I honestly feel that I could get better burgers at a fast food restaurant. The patties aren't juicy and the fries are okay. Overall Islands is an overpriced burger joint. They do sell other things on their menu like salads but I've never tried them. Ambiance: Not that convenient in the sense that it's not really in the mall area. It's not far from the mall, being less than one block away but I still wouldn't go out of my way to go to Island's. I'm sure you have not been to a restaurant where almost everything has gone wrong but you still had a somehow impossibly good experience. The last time that I came to this restaurant, maybe 2 weeks ago or so, my family and I had a crazy experience. We were seated in one area but then requested another because we THOUGHT that there was a certain promo going on and that certain pricing would be honored in that particular section. We also moved because we were told that there was room for us there. NOPE and NOPE and NOPE. We moved and there wasn't enough space for all 5 of us. The pricing wasn't the one that we thought was going on at the time. The menu wasn't the one that we were in search of. There were just all these things that were wrong and different and not what we thought they'd be. For every mistake that there was, the staff did everything possible to make up for it. They kept on apologizing and they offered us dessert. Really, all we wanted was good service and some friendly conversation. Every time there was an oopsie there was a shared laugh and apology. It really ended up being quite funny. Oh well. Our server was awesome and was on top of everything. I had a very unpleasant experience at this islands location. I came in with a party of 5 and they messed up on every single one of our orders. Order 1: We asked for a hawaiian burger with no pineapple, pineapple was left in. Order 2: We asked for the mahi mahi tacos (which was by the way absolutely bland and undercooked) with the chipotle white sauce on the side, chipotle white sauce wasn't on the side. Order 3: We asked for a China Coast salad with dressing on the side, dressing wasn't on the side. Tortilla soup this person ordered was also very watery and bland. Order 4: We asked for a China Coast salad with dressing on the side, dressing wasn't on the side. Order 5: We asked for the Big Wave burger with no pickles, onions, or mustard... Of course pickles were left in the burger. We also had to constantly ask for refills of our drinks instead of being checked up on by our waiter. Probably the best dive bar in Glendale. The patrons here are as real as it gets and have been shooting the sh*t at Islands since the early 70s. The bartender, while seemingly gruff at first, is a sweetheart as well. She looks like one of those gals that has grown up at the bar, serving patrons under the table since she was 10. First was the cooks: our orders were mixed up and when they brought out the food it was cold because lack of communication. Second was the service: I was always trying to look for someone to get me water. If you're ever given the opportunity to choose between Islands and BJs, ALWAYS choose BJs! I came here last night with a couple buddies hoping to catch the last period of the King's game. We almost went with BJs, just a few feet away, but opted for Islands because one of the guys wanted unlimited fries. Well, that was a mistake. The Thursday Night football game was already over so we asked our hostess if she could turn one of the TVs to the hockey game. After she directed us to our seats, she said she'd make sure the game was on for us. It took a while to get the game on, almost as long as it took for our waiter to visit us. Finally when he came to take our drink orders, we asked again if they could put the game on. Maybe about 20 minutes later we were finally able to see our beloved Kings. The fact that it took so long to get the game on should have been an indication of how long it would take to get our food. We each ordered very basic menu items but it took about a half hour to get our food. All the while there was really no one in the restaurant. When we did get our food, our waiter seemed kind of smug. I don't know if he had a long day and was ready to go home, but I definitely didn't feel very welcomed. Later in the meal, when our fries were refreshed, I asked for a side of bbq. When another waitress brought it to our table, my friend realized that he would like some bbq sauce too. When he asked, she gave out a sigh and said something under her breath. She obviously wasn't happy about going back to get some more. I get that it was near closing time and maybe you were itching to go home, but don't make me and my guests feel uncomfortable.
