I'd tried to make a reservation online. However when you pick this location and then select 'Make a Reservation,' it takes you to the one at the Grove. I almost didn't realize I was about to book the wrong place. The reservations are through the Open Table app, so I downloaded it to reserve at the right restaurant. When I selected the right one, it said there was no availability. I decided to check in person just in case, and the restaurant was basically empty of customers. So we ended up walking in, but I feel like the system needs to be fixed so other people don't miss out. The food I had was delicious though, I had a cup of crab bisque and the Margherita pizza. After visiting the Tesla store in Americana, one of the employees recommended us to try this location. Since it's Christmas time and all the restaurants were packed, she said that Bar Verde restaurant is usually available because it's in a hidden place and not many people know about it. It's located on the rooftop (3rd floor) of Nordstrom. So we decided to give it a try. We saw the sign of Bar Verde next to the Nordstrom sign, but we didn't find the entrance. Honestly, it was a hidden place! So we asked one of the Nordstrom employees how we could reach the restaurant, and she said to use the elevator. It's located on the 3rd floor, all the way at the end of the store next to the children's section. As soon as we found the elevator, we saw the sign of the restaurant. After we went to the 3rd floor, again we started to look for the children's section. There was no sign showing which direction we should go to find the restaurant. The sign of the restaurant is hidden behind store decorations and columns. There was a lady at the front and she greeted us and asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. I asked if there was a heater available outside because we wanted to enjoy the rooftop view of Americana. So we sat outside, but unfortunately we didn't have much of a view. There was only one spot with a good view, which was already occupied. We sat next to the alley side, and it was windy, but the heater helped a little to keep us warm. The menu had plenty of drink options, but we didn't try any of them. We were starving, so we decided to order food. The prices for this place were a little bit high. We ordered mostly the cheapest options, sandwiches, one French dip, and one Nordstrom burger. The food was okay, but it wasn't wow compared to other places. Also, there was plenty of seating area inside and outside of the restaurant, even during a very busy Christmas evening. The service was not bad. As was the lobster bisque. Chefs kiss. Creamy, flavorful and tasty. The most average meal I have ever had in a restaurant. I have been coming to the Americana ever since they opened and never ate here at the Bar Verde until last Thursday when my mom and I met here for lunch. I always wondered how the food is and now I know. The Asian salad I ordered was the worst salad I ever ate. So salty and the chicken on top was so dry I couldn't even chew it. The portion was like a side salad portion. Very disappointing. My mom ordered the pappardelle with shrimp and couldn't even finish it. The shrimp tasted so bad but the pasta sauce was ok. On the bright note the ginger peach iced tea I ordered was delicious specially on a hot autumn day in LA ... customer service was unfriendly and the ambiance a bit cold. My family and I came to Bar Verde for the Icon dinner, and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. We were seated outside on the rooftop, which had a great ambiance and views of the Americana. Since we were sitting on the rooftop, we were able to watch the fake snow fall for Christmas which made the evening feel special. We made a reservation in advance and the wait time to be seated was minimal. Service throughout the night was attentive and friendly, with our server checking in regularly. For appetizers, we ordered the margarita flatbread, brussel sprouts, calamari, and lobster bisque. The flatbread great shareable starter. The brussel sprouts were perfectly crispy and was probably one of the best appetizers on the menu. The calamari was crispy and well seasoned. The lobster bisque was rich and had a great crispy bread to go with it. Since we arrived toward the end of the night, the restaurant ran out of a few items that we ordered (for instance, we received a cup of lobster bisque instead of a bowl & received a cookie sundae instead of a brownie sundae). The restaurant is accommodating and provided alternative options for food items that were no longer available. For the main course, I ordered the flank steak, which was full of flavor and cooked to a perfect medium rare. For those with a heavier appetite, I'd suggest ordering something else since the portion size was quite small. For dessert, my family and I shared the creme brulee and brownie sundae. The creme brulee had a smooth custard with a nicely caramelized top, and the brownie sundae was great for sharing. I would definitely come back again especially for an evening out with family. I was only aware of the gift card so I was surprised by other gifts given. Bar Verde has really grown on me! They had a chicken wings special that was excellent, and their steak frites are super solid, especially with the chimichurri. Love the soups too! However, my one true love from this place is the white chocolate bread pudding! You have to get it! The view of the Americana is pretty nice from the patio when it's not too hot outside. Bar Verde has developed a pretty solid menu, and the ambiance is pretty neat. I think this place deserves a lot of support, especially since it doesn't get as much foot traffic because it's on the roof of a Nordstrom. I hope more folks give this place a shot. read more

The food came out really fast so I gave three stars !! The server, although she was nice, she forgot to show up to work today !!! I've been to the Nordstroms at the Americana dozens of times and walked past this place but never went in. What a mistake! When I tried it yesterday, I was impressed by the menu, service, and lovely outdoor seating overlooking the mall. Kenneth, my server, was great, and I didn't have to wait or ask for anything. The menu offers several salads, and you can pick whatever protein (or roasted cauliflower) you want to add. I tried the honey Dijon Cobb with roast chicken. I am a Cobb connoisseur, so I'm picky about them. This one was A+! The hard-boiled egg was nicely diced, the bacon was crumbly, and they used provolone cheese. Great dressing, too. I skipped the tomato and grilled corn. I had a nice, reasonably priced prosecco, and it was a generous pour. I will be back. read more

After being recommended this place many times, I finally came to check it out. I had the Margherita pizza on cauliflower crust for starters and the Hot Honey Chicken Biscuit sandwich. The pizza was light and fresh. I try to leave out the crust so I can control my calorie intake but this is the type of crust you nust want to continue enjoying. The sandwich was amazing! They go above and beyond with dressing the chicken and the biscuit is made with amazing ingredients that levels way up from the basic one we have all tried. It came with wedge fries that were also rich in flavor that for me went great with some Dijon mustard. The outside seating was great and peaceful which we enjoyed around noon. By the time we were done, the place was super packed. Our server Nelson was a delight and really took care of us. He made great suggestions. I almost forgot the desert before the appetizer! The Espresso Martini... Will make everything better. Great mix and cudos to the bartender. Chef Jonathan Santa Cruz definitely knows what good food is. Context is everything, isn't it? I went shopping with friends on another hot and humid day. We started at the Americana and ended at Westfield's Valencia Town Center. It was early Christmas shopping or just an excuse to buy things, ergo, retail therapy. While we were at Americana, browsing in the glittering, gorgeous, spacious and enticing new Nordstrom, we took a late lunch break. We all had wanted to try Nordstrom's own full restaurant, Bar Verde, sitting atop the wedding cakesque building like a star. Had it not been Hades-north outside we would have relished the outdoor deck overlooking the beautiful shopping esplanade below, packed with shoppers even on a sultry summer afternoon. But, instead, we chose to sit beneath a wall of rough-hewn wood artwork under drop lights that cast a welcome rutilant veil over all of us, hiding, excuse me for saying, facial imperfections? So, to get the full experience, we will have to return during the holidays for some more shopping (Tiffany's, Gucci, Tom Ford, YSL, Tory Burch, and on and on and on ...). Now, let me tell you what was exceptional. The food, each dish was superb. We were apparently famished and were able to share our three plates, all of us being vegans or vegetarians. The room was large and divided into three sections. There is a full bar, the kitchen is open to view behind glass, children are welcome, an OG pizza oven glowed convincingly opposite our banquette conferring charm over the entire effect. Maurice, our server, was the ultimate friendly, efficient, helpful professional. What would I like to see? The two main indoor sections look like night and day and should have some sort of divider, preferably of plantings. The section near the outdoor patio looks like a cafeteria -- no charm, no ambiance, no lighting, plain tables -- quite stripped down. OK, no problem, "wall" it off to preserve the deep, glowing warmth of the section in which we were seated. My pictures (and those of others) should illustrate this amply. The prices are high but, as an offset, the portions are generous. Nordstrom almost hit it out of the park. Everything except the "cafeteria" section invites diners all day and into the evening. That patio is a major coup de coeur, that I will make sure I experience next time. Lastly, there were barely any non-meat offerings. We really had to strategize to find three things to eat. Is this because Glendale draws a particularly carnivorous clientele? I think so, to be honest. For these prices, I want more non-animal choices and I am sure I am not alone. That is the context: beautiful Americana, exceptional food hidden away inside a department store. I am amazed at the high quality, flavor, and care taken with each dish and the flawless service. Against that backdrop, other peccadillos can be overlooked. Try it. read more

I decided to check it out this past weekend and had a great lunch on the outdoor patio overlooking the phony Florence stylings of the Americana. A really nice spot with a decent menu of great eats. It's a perfect lunch spot, that's for sure. I had a really good turkey club and a margherita flatbread--it's that kind of place. Surprisingly good. I discovered this trendy, upscale bar yesterday and had the Nordstrom Burger and their fries and one of their tacos. I also tasted the lobster soup and it tasted very mushroomy and cheesy which I love. All of it has unique flavor profile that is really good. The tacos had cilantro which I didnt even taste which is so amazing I hate cilantro bc it is so strong and overpowering. It is difficult to slip any kind of cilantro past my senses and often I have to pass otherwise salsa up because of whatever amounts of cilantro in them. Restaurants that have that fusion mix often cannot pull it off but this one is. I wasnt going to order anything and just let my friend get whatever she wanted and just order a drink but everything we had was good. The burger had prime beef quality and was heavy and thick. Lots of mayo based sauces which were a bit too much for me but I hate mayo. The portions were just right. Waiter was attentive and professional. Bathrooms are back out of the bar, straight across the whole shopping area, past the escalators. If you look up ahead you will see the signs for the restroom. read more

I love this restaurant because it's tucked away on a roof top at the Americana (3rd floor of Nordstrom) and therefore less crowded than all of the other large restaurants at the Americana. 9 times out of 10 my family and I are seated immediately and without a reservation. We prefer to eat outside because it's quite scenic as it overlooks the Americana. The food is good, it's not going to blow your socks off or anything, but it's good. I feel like each dish could use an extra dash of salt or something. They have a plant based burger option which is great for those who are vegan. My most recent visit was last Saturday and the service was not great..item prepared wrong, items arrived really late etc..but overall we still had a nice time. Now the cocktails are always fantastic! Located on the top floor of the Nordstrom at the americana. If you're lucky enough to sit outside near the window at the views are amazing Started out with their flatbread, which I believed was a potato and leek flatbread and at first I wasn't too sure if it was going to be amazing or not, but I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor combinations, and the execution was spot on. Next time moved on to the lobster bisque, and being a huge fan of lobster bisque, I was not disappointed. Thick and creamy and full flavor. This is definitely one of my favorite spots for lobster bisque. Moved on to a Caesar salad, and added the steak. Both the salad and the steak were phenomenal.
