This was my second visit to this nail salon, and unfortunately it will also be my last. While doing my nails, the technician cut one of my cuticles and it started bleeding. I said "ouch," and it was burning nonstop. She eventually stopped and applied pressure with alcohol, which made the burning even worse. She was also very rough while cleaning and filing my nails and even cut a piece of my skin. Getting your nails done is supposed to be a relaxing experience, but this visit was the complete opposite. On top of that, she seemed upset when I said I didn't have Venmo, since they apparently prefer tips through Venmo. I wasn't aware of that. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I won't be returning. read more

Hit or miss. Been coming here for 7 years. Sometimes I get great service - really good mani pedi at a reasonable price (given inflation). Other times the same woman cuts me with the scissors and draws blood. It's happened three times. I know they work hard but some of them don't know how to cut dry skin off toes carefully, and it's a problem. Cuts lead to infections. So you can take your chances here. read more

Very clean and prices were average for the neighborhood. But gel nails chipped within two days and were a total mess within one week. To add insult to injury the technician pulled so hard on my cuticles that some fingers were left with cuts. Could be more gentle and take more time with service to ensure quality. read more

Since I've stopped working full time, I've stopped getting regular weekly manicures. And with covid, I haven't had a manicure in well over a year! About to go on my first vacation since early March of 2020, and knowing that my hands wouldn't be in water all day long, I looked in my new neighborhood for a local place that looked clean and had reasonable prices. Issa is practically across the street, so it's a perfect location! I just walked in on a Monday afternoon and I was surprised how many patrons were inside, but I was able to get my nails done within just a couple of minutes. The young woman was friendly and efficient and my nails are still looking good now, 10 days later, and I've been home and back to cooking, washing fruit and veggies, etc., for 3 days already! I went there a week ago. I took my daughter for her birthday for a mani and I got a pedi. Flora was my technician and my daughter had Olivia. Seven days later and my gel pedicure still looks fresh and so does my daughters manicure! I'm so happy with our experience. I even told my mom and set up an appointment for her! They have a great color selection for both regular and gel. The facility is clean and everyone wears a mask. They take your temperature when you walk in. Wow, super rude manager. I asked if they could do a mani pedi, she seemed angry and told me it was late. I said I totally understand, if you can do it great and if not, no problem. She said ok, pick your color. I picked out some colors to try. She proceeded to yell loudly at me in the middle of the shop, in front of everyone that I was too slow. It was so uncalled for. Really nice + clean nail salon. Stopped by for a gel mani and regular pedicure on a Wednesday morning. Surprisingly saw a good amount of people shuffle in and out even though the salon had just opened. Paid $60 with card and the technician (Lenny) was perfect. She was meticulous and very detail oriented. Very happy with both my gel manicure and regular pedicure. It's not just a no frills place - they massage your legs during the pedi and use all kinds of soap and scrubs. They also put lotioned gloves on your hands while getting the mani. Very rude and racist. Only ask me what service did I want and i told them a pedicure. I was visiting New York for the weekend and needed a pedicure. By far the worst pedicure I've ever had. The lady who did my pedicure didn't ask me what service was I getting just started setting up the basin. I told her that I wanted a gel pedicure and it said very rudely well that's gonna be more money. I should have got up and left there but I was pressed for time. She cut my toes nail uneven, didn't do a great job scrubbing ,polish all over my skin. Did a terrible job cleaning it up. Got a great manicure here - felt very Covid- safe and clean! They have plastic barriers between the manicurist and client. I saw the staff constantly spraying and wiping down surfaces. My manicure was evenly applied and looks great. They were able to accommodate me as a walk-in on a Saturday morning but there were a good number of other clients. I have come multiple times after severely damaging my nails. I drilled them to a pulp and had no business trying to do my own gel nails. I'm lucky I still have fingers. Eek Anyway... the women here are not only talented, but ethical. They ensured I was healed enough and also understood all possible issues I could face. Like other reviews mentioned, this place used to be great but now it's just gone bad. Wild price hikes ($10 for gel removal?!) and wait times are horrible even with an appointment. And if you get the owner, she doesn't have the best manners. Basically interrupts your service every 5min due to phone calls or other people coming in. There's just no kindness or greeting to customers - very transactional. Separately, I asked for a certain white color and they used the wrong one and blamed me when I tried to correct them... just rude. This place overall needs to do better. My wife took me here for a pedicure and they have a special that is 60 dollars. It's sooo worth it. It was a full spa pedicure and a 15 minute leg and foot massage with a cup of tea. I am looking forward to returning and doing it again. I must say it's clean and friendly. read more

I've had to go back to all of them to have my nails re-done, no matter what the service was. Issa has everything I'm looking for in a nail salon, professionalism, understanding and they take the time out to really cater to you and do the job that should be done. They also go the extra mile and pamper you like no other place...... The warm lotion filled UV gel gloves really sealed the deal. The people are nice the place is clean and I would highly recommend it!!! That's why they've been in the neighborhood for so long and I'm sorry that I didn't try them sooner! When they first opened this place was amazing! Amazing staff, amazing quality, amazing service.... That has all changed. I've had 3 increasingly worse experiences here over time but today will be my last visit. The woman who waxed my eyebrows did not wear a mask which I didn't fuss about Until she began blowing in my face. With every strip more blowing. Now, it is flu season and this woman thought to herself blowing in another human's face was a good idea. When I asked her to stop she seemed confused. I don't think it takes much to understand NOT to blow your germs into someone else's nose and mouth... For health reasons, I will not be returning. I can overlook a bad mani/pedi or waiting 30 minutes when I have an appointment but it's just not worth it... Hopefully emergen-c can undo the germs from an eyebrow wax. read more

Had a great experience in salon- but as soon as I left my nails looked horrific. I spent over $80* dollars and they started chipping within 3 days. I now have to walk around with bare nails in hopes they even make it another week. It is absolutely unacceptable for these to look like this in the first week!! I've been here twice for manicures, and both times I was impressed. The technicians take the time to do a lovely job, and throw in lots of little extras that make me feel pampered. Added bonus: They carry Zoya nail polish, in addition to the usual brands. Zoya is "natural" brand that's free from nasty chemicals like toluene and formaldehyde. Yay for nontoxic options! My sister and I have been going to their location on Lexington Avenue for years, and stumbled upon this one during a walk down 2nd Ave. Everything is new and the service is just as great at the Lexington location - it has a much bigger space which is nice because other one can get a bit crowded. I have been going to Issa Nails for the last 6 months. While I initially enjoyed going to the salon, the customer service continued to slide with yesterday being the worst which has implored me to write this review. They don't honor appointments as I have now found out numerous times and then are rude and unapologetically because they just take anyone who walks in with no respect for making an appointment. After waiting for 20-30 minutes for (2) manicures and pedicures (I called the day before for the appointments) Amy started the pedicure and then rudely left mid way through to go to another client who also was waiting leaving us sitting there. I appreciated the measures they were taking to keep it COVID-19 safe (temperature checks, sanitizing, proper spacing out between stations). They did a great job and the staff was very friendly. I went to Issa for a regular manicure and my husband decided to tag along. He experienced his first manicure with Lisa, who was very patient. And I sincerely enjoyed my manicure as well, thanks for Suki. I'll definitely visit again. (Regular manicure is $14, worth it by NYC standards).
