I've been going there for years. The last three or four manicures I've had have been awful. The polish itself is streaky and blurry. I suspect they are diluting it with acetone. They correct it by globbing it on too thick. Then glob on a topcoat. They both did my cuticles in under 1 minute per hand. Take your own polish. While I was in the chair, another woman came in complaining that her polish had begun chipping from her manicure two hours before. Usually I am not the type to leave a review, but after my experience today, I feel compelled to describe what I just went through and how I felt. To preface, I have been to this location about four other times and have never been treated the way I was today. I came in on a Sunday after calling to see if they had availability 30 minutes after they opened and they welcomed me to come in. Getting there, I was paired with a tech who was already annoyed/frustrated/exasperated to be paired with me...30 minutes after being open when they only had one client and she wasn't doing anything but taking up space. I'm the type of client where we'll talk at the beginning about the service and for the tenure of the appt, I'll throw in my AirPods. She didn't even want to do that and was already annoyed. She would pull and tug on my arms instead of lightly telling me to switch positions until one time - out of the blue - she took her full fist to my hand to knock it down. At that point, I had no choice but to stare her down and give her the benefit of the doubt. The first time I looked at my hands as she was in between coats, she began to yell at me and tell me to "switch, switch, switch" while shaking the UV light. How demeaning. At that point I spoke up and mentioned how my nails had bubbles (you wanna know why? She didn't brush off the powder on my nails before starting....) and she was cutting me off saying "I'm not done. I'm not done. I'm not done" and then waving someone else over. That woman, "Lisa" was the name I was given then explained how she wasn't done. I agreed and said "That is more than fine, however, I do not appreciate the way I am being treated and it is becoming demoralizing." The other nail tech rolled her eyes, threw up her hands, and walked off. On brand for her. "Lisa" took over for the tenure of the appt. At the end, I requested to speak to a manager/supervisor/lead/owner to which "Lisa" also flipped like a coin and started to undermine me as well and over talk me while I tried to articulate how one of the employees was manhandling me. She offered me $5 off, but you know what would've been more beneficial than that? Letting me articulate and finish one singular sentence since I stepped through that door. I've been coming to Issas for about two years now after cheating on my original nail lady. But it worked in my favor because there's no other place I would want to go for my mani pedis. I started off just getting gel manis but was tired of the polish always staining since I get light colors. So it was recommended by the staff that I move on to dip powder and I have 0 regrets ! For dip powder I believe it's $45 and $55 for French dip powder. Which I find pretty reasonable given that your manicure will last for about a month before doing another set. A standard pedicure at Issas is $25 I believe. Best part of Issas is they go by reward system, once you're at your 10th visit on the reward card you get $10 off your service. So be sure if you visit grab a card and have your technician sign east visit. Issas does get busy if you don't have an appointment. They do walk ins but to avoid a long wait time I say book an appointment. Remember this salon is in midtown and a lot of women stop in after work and tourist come too. Issas is very clean, probably the most sanitary I've seen as far as nail salons and they use brand new tools on each client and are sure to open them in front of you. Issas also has a wide range of high quality polishes like essi, opi and sns colors. So something for everyone I think. When you do come I say pay in cash to avoid the processing charge on your card :). My favorite nail techs are kiki and Christina. read more

I love this place, and have been going there for years. What I appreciate the most about it is that it's VERY clean. They use disposable nail files and foot files. They sanitize all of their other instruments under those blue lights. They use disposable clear plastic bags in the tub, so that the water does not even make contact with the tub until your feet are out of the water, and they've cut a hole in the bottom of the bag to drain the water. The artists there are very skilled. They always do a great job on my pedicure (I don't like getting manicures, so I just usually do a pedicure and a 10 minute massage). The polish lasts for 2-3 weeks at least. The entire staff is also super respectful. The massages also feel like heaven, and they listen to your requests to focus on just one area, and on how much pressure to use. I only have two complaints: (1) There is sometimes a wait, since the place is so popular. (2) At the end, when my nails are drying, it sometimes feels like they've forgotten about me when they take the next client. I think they should have timers on the dryers that beep after enough time has passed and the nails are dry, so that someone can come over to check. read more

First time coming to this location. I used to go to the one on 2nd Ave. religiously. However, the work was becoming sloppy, and my gel manicures appeal within the same week. I have spent a lot of money at Issa (2nd Ave) and the quality service is "OK", but not great. I decided to go to this location on Lexington Avenue, taking a chance, and I'm glad I did!!! Maria was AMAZING!!!! she took her time, and understood my frustrations. I have a defect in my nail, which splits some times due to acrylic from previous years, and one bad incident took the whole nail off, and it's never been the same. Maria was able to make the nail whole by adding a powder and gel and glue substance that kept the nail together making my nails look completely intact. I have now vowed to come here and the prices are reasonable and she has now become my dedicated nail technician here on out, I recommend this location to anyone that is looking for reasonable prices for a great service. I went to get a gel manicure, they forgot about me for an hour and a half I ended up having to leave to go to work after being there for 2 hours total I had to leave before they even got started painting my nails. I went back the next day to have the manicure finished. Then after 1 hour of leaving the nails polish began to crack off so badly that by the next day all of my nail polish was gone. I've been going to this place for a while now because they are consistently very good. I looked for a while and was so happy to find a solid place near work for a good gel manicure. I definitely recommend going on a weekday, since the weekends tend to be a bit more hectic there, and earlier in the week is better. It's a popular spot since they do such a good job. They're consistently solid, but will blow you away with their attention to detail if it's a slow night. I finally had to write a review, because tonight was the first night I asked for something unique and special. I had a particular design in mind for the solar eclipse festival I'm going to. Lisa asked if I had a picture or two to show her and sketched it out briefly to make sure we were on the same page. It would have been silly if she had tried to replicate it exactly, but she totally managed to nail the effect (no pun intended)! I'm so excited to show these off. I will never go to another nail salon again, as long as I live in NYC. This place is that good. Christina is the only person I will ever allow to touch my nails. Seriously - you want the best manicure of your life? Make an appt with Christina. She's amazing. I get the powder gel, and for 2-3 weeks after, my nails look like they were JUST done. Christina really takes the time to make sure your manicure is just as you want it, and helps you get your nails healthy again (if they're not already). The entire staff is SUPER nice and accommodating, and somehow always has it together, even when it's super packed and busy (which it usually is). All of the girls that give massages are really good too (but Cindy's massage is out-of-this-world amazing). I wish there was more room in the salon so the massages could be in a separate area and not out in the open so I could relax more, but they're still really great, and very affordable. Here's a tip: do not come here after work because even if you make an appointment, the experience will be rushed and you will be herded like cattle. I've been a customer for many years and have rarely had cause for complaint. The premises is always clean, there's a wide selection of colors, and the ladies are very careful and do consistently good work. This review is specifically for the powder dip manicure which I tried once and will never try again. I was utterly disappointed with my most recent manicure which is among the worst (and most expensive) I've ever received at $45. The powder gel took forever (1.5 hours), the technician Jenny cut me and drew blood multiple times, and the end result was chunky and streaky. It was bubbling and rough by the time I got home. I went back the next day to ask for a fix--to their credit they redid it free of charge, but it's only marginally better--still very bulky and not smooth. I feel like I have gummy candies stuck to the ends of my fingers. The cuts on my hands are still painful days later. Also, I should have done my research ahead of time--they dip your fingers into the powder container which many suggest is unhygienic. Do yourself a favor--get good looking nails for a fraction of the cost by getting a regular or gel manicure at Issa! I for one will be taking a break from Issa after this terrible powder gel experience. read more

POOR SERVICE! Got a pedicure and sat at the machine to that blows air and dries the nails, but it wasn't working! The staff was well aware of this and they didn't do anything about it. Couldn't even have a conversation about it because when I tried they wouldn't understand and just walk away. After spending a good amount of money and finally leaving (after sitting there with no air for 30 minutes) my pedicure ended up smudging. What kind of nail salon doesn't maintain their supplies and then ignores the customer when we try to bring up the issue?! Never going back! Been to Issa 3 times now. The first two was basic mani and pedi, nothing fancy. They're $33 bucks for the combo. It's not expensive but it's also not cheap. I've been to several other places that are cheaper. Today I wanted something fun and paid $10 extra for half moon design and tipped $5. I'd like to think I'm a big tipper and expect to get good service in return. That wasn't the case! Just FYI: I paid $50 in total. I had Anna, who's full of attitude and wasn't good. I asked if she would want to see the picture of the design I wanted and she rudely said "I got it". Well girls, she doesn't have it. The own Lisa had to take over. My half moon took 3 attempts and 2 hours. I mean if you're gonna charge me extra, you gotta deliver. Otherwise I can mess up for free at home! Plus who has 2 hours for them to keep messing up. Because I had decent experience the first two times and terrible this time. I'm giving this place a 2 star. If you want 1 color, this place is find but anything more than that, keep your expectations low! read more

This review is solely based on their customer service. I didn't even get a chance to get my nails done because I apparently needed to request an appt with specifically Lisa for anything more than a regular manicure. However on the website when I made my reservation, it said it was with Lisa. So I'm not sure what the problem was there. I made my appt, got there and showed what I wanted but no one else could do the French ombré but Lisa. Then they told me to come back tomorrow. Lol! I wasted a trip to the UES and couldn't get my nails done by them for my sisters wedding. So make sure to call and see if you really even get a reservation with Lisa or her other nail techs that only know how to do a basic mani/pedi. And they did not seem friendly or welcoming at all. This is my favorite nail salon in the city. Unfortunately, I moved downtown and don't get to this area often, but will always try to go if I'm in UES. I've gotten the regular mani/pedi and gel manicure before. The regular manicures will last around 2 weeks, the regular pedicures last around a month on me, and the gel manicures will also last a month, which is the longest I've gone with gels. The gel manicures also DON'T PEEL. The nail techs always take their time and make my nails look amazing. The salon is always full, so you know they have a great business. Amazing! I go to Issa nails often and have never had a bad experience or thought my nails were any less than perfect after getting them done. I always get the gel manicure, which used to be $30, but they have raised to $35. Which is still not bad compared to many other places in the city. Typically when I go I get who ever is free to do my nails (I don't have a specific person I ask for) and they always do a great job. I tend to make the 15 block trip up to Issa Nails because, as most of the reviews have said, it's clean and the service is consistent. I usually just get regular manicures ($13) which consists of cutting, shaping, the glove with the moisturizing treatment, and color. The ladies here are nice and thorough about the cuticle care and wrapping the tip of the nail with polish, but sometimes the filing and shaping is a little sloppy; however, as long as you pay attention and point it out, they will be more than happy to fix any issues. Otherwise, I've encountered no other issues with my manicures. Be sure pick up a loyalty card if you plan to revisit often! read more

She just doesn't enjoy getting to these nail appointments early, no matter how much I beg her:} She insisted upon stopping at the Gap first because I washed one of her 25% wool sweaters by mistake. I got her (3) new sweaters so hopefully I've paid my debit:} We got up the stairs and I'm sure Issa wondered what happened to us? I know I would've. Indira just has NO sense of urgency for our nail appointments? She does get gel nails now so I can see we're making progress:} Upon entrance they have a lot of Zoya polishes and Essie gel polishes. Indira picked and OPI polish even though I brought her CND Field Fox gel polish that I got on Amazon.com. I used the IBD "All that Glitters" gel polish that I also got from Amazon. I had to get an artificial middle nail for $5 because i bit mine the night before while Indira was out on a date..That's a WHOLE nother story:} I asked Issa to do my nails, but we took SO long getting there that she switched me off to Christina. I was pleased with Christina's work. I got the end table which was nice because I could people watch out the window. I saw a beautiful orange Chow dog and a lady in a fur coat. I really enjoyed looking out the window. Indira sat to my left and I really enjoyed that too:} Issa's does not have gel tables. My gel was cured under a CND light and Indira's under an OPI light. The manicurists were very good at advising us when to switch out of the lights. There is a padded approx 4" wide stick in width that rests independently atop the gel lights. I'm not too sure this stick is necessary? I had to be very careful not to tip it over. It was kind of a balancing act. They use a Keratin infused plastic glove. This is a great winter treatment. The neck massage was inconsistent. Indira's manicurist gave her one, but Christina did not give me one? When we left our bill was $72.50. This is a fair price. The salon is surrounded by good stores. I went to cupcakes by Melissa (delicious), Farinella's (delicious), and a soap store from Israel, Sabon (Green Valley soap is lovely). I took lots of pictures of people and the subway going back to Indira's apt. I still prefer Sami's one table salon in New Haven, CT, but this is a nice one too:} read more
