Great market with so many new (to me) and interesting products. The bakery attendant was so kind, letting us try a few things, and yes we were happily persuaded to buy a selection of different ones to bring home. Very good tactic! Basics are priced on the high side, but the Turkish and other international products are a good deal. This market has absolutely everything. Halal meats, breads, condiments, cheeses, fruits and veggies, cooking utensils, evil eyes. Anything you might need. I have a great time wandering around reading labels whenever the roomate needs to go shopping. read more

We love authentic Turkish food, and rarely prepare it ourselves because it is time consuming to replicate. Kind of like good sushi in that way. But on those occasions when we want a DIY Turkish meal, or just some great quality halal lamb, beef or chicken, this is where we shop for the ingredients. First impression as you walk in is CLEAN. The olive and nut bar that greets you offers a limited but nice selection. The prepared foods are ok, but hardly the reason to come here. Their shelled walnuts are the largest and most flavorful I have ever tasted. The halal meats are first rate as is their house cured basturma (Turkish pastrami). The butcher counter always carries seasoned Kofte ready to go on your barbecue -- and it is as authentically flavored as any we order out. The lamb is freshly butchered (not previously frozen) and you can taste the textural difference straight away, as you can with the pide, which is bakery fresh. Unfortunately their dessert case of baklava and other Turkish treats looks better than it is. Some of the baklava is imported from Turkey and is pre-frozen, which ruins the texture and flavor. Beyti Baklava nearby does it better and it is fresher (and cheaper). The help is friendly despite being ESL challenged. I have worked through the language barrier several times to find natives pleased to explain what Turkish food is all about. It is worth the effort. read more

I heard about this place via an article on NJ.com. This place is very authentic, almost to the point where there are few people that can help you that speak English. The spicy tomato spread, hummus, spicy olive salad, and eggplant tapanade from the salad bar were great. I wasn't too much of a fan of the baklava. They have lots of fresh meats too. I tried spicy chicken kabobs and these beef patty (slider sized) almost meatball-ish tasting and both were very good. I don't think I'll be a regular, but maybe for special parties. read more

Very disappointed. Very. When they first opened up the products sold were great. During the pandemic however, the chicken breasts were terrible. They were oversized and very rubbery. Taste was chewy. Horrible. Spoke to the manager who told me he had a shortage of supply during the pandemic and had to take on another supplier to have enough chicken for customers but second supplier is not as good. Made sure my purchase of chicken that next time was all from the first supplier. Now it's two years later and I went back to purchase baby lamb chops. Same issue as I had with the chicken. The lamb after marinating it was tough and chewy. Not tasty meat at all. In the past they had the best lamb chops. The package we got this time of 25 pieces pre-ordered were a mix of semi soft and of chewy baby lamb chops. No more visits to this store. Don't want to pay for inferior meats and chicken any more. read more

I adore this place! There's a lot packed into this little market so it can be a bit hard to make your way around other shoppers. However, the awkward shuffle is so worth it. I like to purchase Turkish sweets here, like Nestle Damak bars (creamy milk chocolate with pistachios), Koska rose-flavored Turkish delights, and other hard to find Turkish candy. There's also a nice selection of kinder bars/Ferraro candy. Turkish pastries are sold by the pound. Here I can purchase 1 lb of Turkish-style pistachio baklava for about $10. It comes out to about 16 pieces, which beats the $7 I pay for 3 pieces at my favorite Turkish restaurant. Other items I've purchased here include labneh, Turkish spices like sumac and za'atar, freshly cut lamb chops, chicken, pre-made Turkish seasoning packets (perfect for grilling), and more. The people who work here are lovely, helpful, and so welcoming. And they smile! They don't look miserable to be working there, which is such a pleasant departure from my local Acme. Without fail, I'm always approached by someone asking if I'm finding everything I'm looking for. If you haven't been here yet, visit soon! read more

Been a customer for a while but today was a really bad one when I got my sons birthday cake and when we got to the house and started to celebrate found out that the fruits on the cake are almost rotten and when I called back I was told it's only made yesterday which I doubt at least it's been there for days, even if it's made yesterday it should be at least fresh looking not this way, the other pistachio one is as hard as a bread that has been out in the sun for a week, no way on earth this is fresh. What a wonderfully friendly and accommodating place to visit! I was looking for some hazelnut spread for a friend and decided to try this place. While they didn't carry the brand I was looking for, I found an alternative that was produced in Turkey and hoped that would be good enough. There is an olive bar along with freshly baked bread for sale in addition to a couple of aisles of seemingly mostly Turkish products. Fresh produce lacked, but I did see an area of meat being butchered and another area selling housewares. The cashiers were really considerate and greeted me warmly this past Saturday. One provided me a sample of labne and a small calendar as she was ringing me up while another rushed over to where I stood taking in all the sweets after I had paid. read more

I've been a long time customer of Turkish grocery stores in NY and NJ. I know what brands to look for, and I only purchase them, they're excellent quality products. I used to find them pretty much in all the stores I visited. Things have changed, it's difficult find good brands in these stores now. They've been replaced by brands that I've never seen before, they're generally low quality and cheap. This seems to be a trend and is very disappointing. These stores provided a taste and feeling of home, and It's no longer the case. I'll reduce my shopping from these places read more

I stop purchasing my food about 2 years ago when I got Lamb meat for a religious holiday. took it home and my wife noticed the meat is bad, not only we had to put the meat in garbage can, I had to go and purchase food about 250.00 for the guest. Very good place. I usually come to buy Turkish coffee Mehmet Efendi (the best so far- but pls- do not put in in coffee machine) and lamb there but most of the time I buy a lot of "extra"- I came from Middle Asia and love these things. The quality of the meat is very good. If they will fix parking lot int front of the store I will give 5 starts- it all covered with potholes. But the market itself is very good. The guy who works in meat department is from Uzbekistan- very nice guy. The rest of the staff is also very friendly. Absolutely recommend. read more

Turkish grocery store in the middle of an old silk mill in Clifton. This store had an extensive olive bar and a huge variety of Turkish foods, I bought packages of Turkish delight- and the rose one was my fave. They also had excellent pita bread but I was a little disappointed the only hummus I saw was Sabra brand or in a can. I would definitely come back for Turkish groceries. read more

I have decided to write this review hoping that the management will take some actions about this problem with their cashiers behavior! They all are so rude! All my friends complain about the cashier people in Istanbul Bazaar. The butcher section's stuff is very friendly and food that we ever buy there never get us disappointed.Yesterday I had this bad experience with them again. I was on a line waiting and there was a lady in front of me. One of the cashiers looked at me and said "Lady, come to this register!" So I did. The lady who was in front of me started to complain that I have jumped over her to the next available register. I told her that I have been told to go there. The cashier (young male with brown hair and beard) that told me to go to that register started talking to another cashier (tall young female with dark hair, who is the rudest) in Turkish (which I speak) about me jumping in front of others. When I told him that he is the one who told me to do so he just kept on talking with his coworker thinking that I don't speak Turkish. I just left the store and decided not to go back! I know some other people who prefer to go to other places only because of the cashiers behavior! I am giving this review 3 stars if not the cashiers I would give 5! read more

Standard Turkish groceries with standard prices. However recently THE WORST customer service EVER, even by Turkish standards. The people who works there now have an attitude that they are too good to serve the customers with respect and kindness. The former employees were much better, more friendly and they smiled. Now, only the butchers are still friendly, they greet you and ask how can they help. The woman at the checkout/cashier counter is too busy surfing the internet or something (she is always typing), she has an attitude that you are bothering her and very rude. After spending over $100 worth of shopping, no smile, no good bye, not even a THANK you as you leave their establishment. They must learn how to treat customers with respect and with good MANNERS. Perhaps greeting and dealing with commoners/customers might be beneath them, then why go into customer service business????? read more
