If you're in koreatown in NYC, you need to try this place for an authentic pocha experience. I just love a korean pub that has great alcohol and great food. This place checked all the boxes for me. We got a spot on the bar pretty quick and the bar being tucked away in the upstairs of a retrofitted apartment just adds so much charm and authenticity to the experience. The bartenders were all very nice and friendly. For food, we got the seafood tteokbokki and it came out hot which paired so nicely with their house cocktails and some soju. I went on a Sunday night (after zedd in the park ended) and this was my second time coming. The vibes last summer was so much better and more calm, going on a Thursday night. When we went, we wanted to know what type of beer the founders beer since we've never heard of it and wanted to decide between the different drink options for beer. The girl who helped us out was impatient and responded in such a snarky tone saying its beer... I then went up to ask for something and she ended up talking to her coworker about the interaction and about my friends asking a stupid question. That just rubbed me off the wrong way since I loved this placed and had such a good experience last time. For the service, I'd give the overall experience a 3.5 They were also playing the Knock2 niteharts set pretty loud and it was hectic after a rave, so it's hard to hear, keep that in mind. Wish they had better service or were a bit more patient, especially since it's soo loud. Definitely keeping this in mind next time if I go when it's a busy night after a rave. The server informed us that there is a 1 hour table limit for drinks and a 2 hour table limit for food. We showed up late on a Friday with a group of six and were able to get seated right away, even though it was already 11 pm. They offer plenty of classic beer food and quick tapas--perfect for a casual night out. Service was fast considering how packed it was, but it did take more than 30 minutes for our food to arrive. The highlight was that it was my first time trying Founders beer, which they sell by the pitcher and I discovered that I prefer over Sapporo. The food is very meh and the beer wasn't cold enough for me. Everything tasted way too salty to me. Maybe we ordered the wrong items. French fries were basic, but it came with a spicy mayo type sauce that was good. We also got the fried whole chicken that the other folks at my table liked, but I thought was too salty. The fried whole chicken came with fries, which we didn't know about until after the dish arrived and had already ordered some fries. We also had the army stew (budae jjigae), which also tasted super salty to me. There was very little veggies in it; I like mine with watercress. There was a little bit of noodles (ramen & glass), a little bit of rice cakes, a little bit of sliced hot dogs, some cheese clumped on one side, spam, and kimchi. My sister also ordered a dirty martini and it looked really wrong. She didn't return it because she said it'd slow down her usual pace. We went on a Saturday night. I arrived a little before 7:30pm and got seated right away for a table of five even though everyone hadn't arrived yet. There was a line by 7:30pm until we left a little after 9pm and a two hour limit if you order food (one hour limit if just drinks). Crowd is young. Bathrooms need to be cleaned more often. read more

Getting here was a bit of an adventure. Located on the 2nd floor, you need to walk down a white hallway with a popup coffee at the front on the right. I'd avoid the elevator and take the stairs in the back. Once you walk past the black door, you'll enter a dimly lit gastropub with some purple/pink neon lighting and K-pop playing in the background. I had a reservation, but it was unnecessary as there was plenty of seating available. They let you sit wherever you please. The only thing I didn't like was that a handful of menu items were not available for order. They showed what was available by highlighting the menu in pink highlighter, which was the worst possible color to choose because of the lighting situation. So have a light ready. Between my friend and I, we split two things along with a few bottles of soju: Creamy Spicy Ramen ($18) - Despite the name, this was not spicy. It was very creamy, as you'd expect with a pasta dish. Besides one or two bricks of ramen, it also comes with a fried egg and sprinkled in scallion and grated cheese. Budae Jjigae (Army Stew) ($33) - This dish alone was enough to be split between the two of us. I think this was meant for four people as a handful of the dish for sure went to waste. This consisted of a variety of items, including spam, hot dog, rice cakes, beans, enoki mushroom, kimchi, ham, ramen, vermicelli, farfalle, and possibly other stuff I can't remember.
