We came here with my husband and our infant because we were looking to try something local, and we're so glad we gave this place a try! We ordered the Parmesan Alfredo, smash burger, and burnt carrots, and everything had something special about it. The burnt carrots (pic was to blurry) were a huge hit with our baby boy--he absolutely loved them! The ricotta had a nice lemony flavor that I really enjoyed, although my husband wasn't quite as much of a fan of that particular flavor combination. The smash burger was delicious and had great flavor; honestly, the only thing that would have made it even better would have been some crispy bacon on top. The chicken Parmesan had a wonderful cheesy topping that really brought the dish together. One thing to keep in mind is to check the menu before you go, because their specials change daily. It's a smaller, cozy spot, and the music was a little loud for our taste, but our baby was happily dancing along and clearly enjoying the vibe! The service was excellent, and everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We love supporting local restaurants, and this was a fun little spot to discover. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something local with a fun atmosphere and a menu that keeps things interesting!
Showed up with a need for chicken parm and left with a love for Picone. Our 13-year-old requested chicken parm for her birthday dinner. She originally wanted Olive Garden, but I always try to support local when we can, so I suggested Picone... and I'm so glad! We ordered the birria crunch wrap, smash burger with potatoes, chicken parm pesto, and a Caesar salad, and we literally left no crumbs. Every bite tasted intentional. The chicken parm was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with rich, flavorful sauce and melty cheese that didn't overpower the dish. The pesto added a fresh, herby richness that tied everything together beautifully. The birria crunch wrap was packed with bold, slow-cooked flavor, and the crispy tortilla gave way to tender meat and creamy, cheesy goodness. It somehow managed to be comforting and exciting at the same time. The smash burger had that perfect crispy edge with a juicy center, and the potatoes were golden, crispy, and seasoned so well that they disappeared almost as fast as the burger. Even the Caesar salad wasn't an afterthought. It was fresh, crisp, perfectly dressed, and exactly what you want alongside a rich meal. You can tell there's real care behind the food. Nothing felt rushed or phoned in. Every dish had layers of flavor, great textures, and combinations that just worked. It felt like people who genuinely love feeding people made our meal. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience even better. It had just the right amount of local charm that made the kids feel like they had discovered a cool hidden gem. We'll absolutely be back.
I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this place. I did not love this place. But I will give it another shot at some point, maybe I just hit it on an off day/week. We came here for an early dinner after the show at the planetarium. Seriously get the burnt carrot. It's $10, for 1/2 of a carrot, but no joke, it's worth it. The chicken pesto entree was okay, but they used some other herb besides Basil in the pesto that is just not my jam-- dill maybe?, chervil??-- I dunno, but it threw off the flavor for me. That said, the cutlet underneath was very crispy and all the bites without the pesto were delish!. I have heard raves about the burger, so maybe that is worth another shot?? The service?, not stellar, just bored and unenthusiastic at the counter and s-l-o-w from the kitchen. The carrot came out quickly, but the cutlet took about 30 minutes after that, and the place was nearly empty. And, sorry to mention this part, the bathroom was filthy. I try not to correlate a dirty bathroom with a dirty kitchen, but it's difficult to reconcile.
I have been wanting to try Picone for a long time and I am so excited to say it was worth the wait! We stopped in and were greeted right away by the friendly staff. I really like the Counter Service style they have here as it makes the whole experience super casual with great food. We started with the burnt carrots which were outstanding. Super flavorful and the delicious Ricotta really added to the experience. For entrees we had the Chicken Parmesan with Sunday Sauce and the Chicken Parmesan with Marsala. Both were outstanding, crispy, and cooked perfectly. Outstanding restaurant and I am already excited to come back! Highly Reccommended!
I went here with a friend after going to downtown Denton and this place is amazing. The server at the front was super cool. The menu rotates frequently and the food was absolutely delicious. I would 100% come back when having to drive through Denton.
This place SLAPS like I need to go back and try so many things, everything was soooo good and their social media is hilarious and great advertisement because I want to go in and try it all! Love the experimentation with food! I wish I lived closer to Denton to try more often but I'd like to try to get up here once very month or so if I can for when I see something they're advertising that I really wanna try. A Denton MUST!
Delicious Italian food - hole in the wall. The surface was very friendly, they were very nice about getting us to go plates. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. It's a small but select menu, with daily special. Worth checking out.
I had been hearing about Picone for a while from my son who attends UNT in Denton and we finally went today. It's a modest building with a comfortable dining room that was bumping good tunes. We ordered wayyyy too much food because we wanted to sample some of the starters such as the burratta and the crispy potatoes. The bread that went w the burratta was awesome and the potatoes were insane! apparently they boil, bake and deep fry them and they put this delicious pickled aioli on top that made it really pop. My wife had their caesar salad and came away impressed. I had what I was told was their house specialty their chicken parm picatta and it was delicious. The cutlets were perfectly fried and the noodles were cooked al dente. Super nice dish. Will definitely return to try their smash burger. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone.
Customer service was really good at this location upon arriving the guy at the counter was very welcoming and explain the menu to us. He was also honest in the description of items and answering any questions that we had. My friend and I both ordered the Smashburger which comes with crispy potatoes and some type of fry sauce. Our wait was incredibly long for two smash burgers. That was the only bad part about our experience because we were super hungry however, it was definitely worth the wait. The Smashburger has two patties and has a great amount of sauce within the burger and love the sweet/salty pickles that I was able to add to the burger as well . It was well seasoned & not the heaviest burger, which I appreciated in the sense that I didn't feel gross after eating. It had the right amount of cheese and the sauce was perfection. Our crispy potatoes could've been less crispy in my opinion where I would've appreciated tasting more potato than skin. And I did feel like my portion of potatoes were on the smaller side. If you are visiting Denton, I would definitely make this a visit on your itinerary. I definitely think the smash burgers are popular for a reason.
Burrata was delish! My fiancé described the Alfredo parm as tasting lemony almost soapy. The parm was nice and crispy though. I think what happened is they might have warmed the Alfredo sauce after my piccata bc after I tasted it, I discovered it resembled my sauce. He's not a fan of piccata so he had the chicken. The pasta was a little too firm for our preference. Wouldn't order either again but will try them again since after we left there was at least 10 parties waiting. Parking is definitely an issue, only about maybe 15 spots. All were taken when we arrived and they weren't even full inside yet. Seating is very limited as well.
Once you get over the lack of ambiance, the service (counter order) and food was great! The burger was very good. The potato a nice change from traditional French fries. The Tour of Picone was nicely presented. The chicken was a hit, lightly breaded and the chicken was juicy and tender. The lasagna was unique and very tasty, the noodles with a white sauce were cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to trying something new next time.
I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!!! The outside will throw you off but the food inside is BOMB. I've been a few times and the service is consistently on point, it's a cute little spot. Food is high quality. The tiramisu is KILLER. Definitely recommend
I wish this place was not so far away because I would love to return to try ore of the menu. It was a surprising and flavorful experience that I would want to try again. From burgers to perfectly cooked chicken parm to guava empanadas, Picone does not make sense but does so much right. Although not perfect I was more than pleased.

I've been going here nearly once a week since they opened up the store front about 4ish years ago. Next to Osteria il Muro, this is the absolute peak of food in Denton. Michael and the front of house staff are absolutely amazing, friendly, welcoming and extremely accommodating in any instance where there is a need for that. The food, like I mentioned, is absolutely top tier thanks to Chef Tony and his food crew. Absolute artists as chefs and the thing that makes you keep coming back as much as I have is the creativity and huge range of dishes that are constantly being rotated through week by week. Sadly for my love of this place and these people, I'm moving up to New York state so this may well be my last time here, but if there is ever a time I'm near Denton and this place is open, you bet I'll be heading here. This place absolutely deserves your attention and patronage as well as this 5 star review and all the praise I can possibly heap onto it. Please come here to eat some amazing food. First, know it's BYOB. I had no idea from looking it up online / reading reviews. The food is great. Tiny small menu so check out the pic I have below to make sure there is something like. The burgers have a nice crunchy finish on them. The salad looks basic but it's large and delicious. The chicken portion is huge. While it may appear to be similar to a fast food burger place, it's not fast. We were told our burgers would take 35 minutes but it was closer to 20-25. I'm looking forward to returning and getting the chicken. read more

Picone at 702 S Elm St, Denton, TX 76201 I really don't even know how to pronounce the name of this place but you should be here right now eating . I followed them on social media and it's so interested in seeing the guys bring out a different entree option throughout the week. I got in here to enjoy the brisket macaroni and cheese and the smashburger with them side of potatoes. That I literally devoured before I could even get home. My only regret today is I didn't order a triple order of those potatoes. Next time I go there I definitely want to eat inside and try more options. This is instantaneously one of my favorite places to go to in this city. read more

Me and my brother and kids went here to try their famous burger , we got there around 845pm , my brother and his daughter ordered 1st , then when it was me and my 2 sons turn someone came out from back and said they were out of burgers so we could only get 1 , that was disappointing but I was like hey I guess it can happen so we order the chicken cutlets with Alfredo and pesto and we also ordered a cannoli . The person that advised there were no more burgers said to give us 50% off and I guess the cashier did not hear them bc our total ended up being about $90 which was pretty high , food came out and from what I saw the burgers we did get were good but not great , decent burgers but really nothing special , the chicken cutlets were good not great and we did try to pack up quickly bc it did seem like the restaurant decided to close early due to no more burgers so we got everything to go and as we were leaving we realized we never received the cannoli , which was fine bc at this point we just wanted to go home so we asked for the refund and they said no we will make it so we had to wait 5 more min just so they wouldn't have to refund us $8 for the single cannoli which once we got it was also nothing special. I say service wasn't that great bc we didn't get the discount for the inconvenience of not being able to get the burgers for everyone and for not receiving our dessert on time and really no one we overly nice nor really mean or rude but just like the food it was just okay , was it worth the money , not really , would I go again , not really but that's just my experience and maybe you will have something better . read more
This one is a tough one - wonderful concept and service, but poor execution. We had come in for their Valentine's Day pre fixe menu so perhaps that played a factor. Hamachi Crudo - great concept, but not enough citrus granita, Aleppo pepper, or vinaigrette listed. Tartine with house focaccia - focaccia was cold Beef cheek papardelle - the one piece of beef cheek you see in the photo is all I got - really disappointing as that one small piece was delicious Scallop Risotto - risotto was dry and overcooked, scallops were seared nicely, but not cooked through enough Chocolate trifle - looks beautiful, but a little bland - I wish the Chai Mousse had more Chai All in all, the food was beautiful and the ambience for Valentine's Day was perfect, but just wish the food was cooked better. read more
The chicken Alfredo parm was really good. Chicken alone was perfectly seasoned and crispy. Portion size is definitely enough for leftovers. The staff is very friendly and open to helping you with what you need. It appears some menu items stay the same and others rotate which seems like a fun concept to try new dishes. The place looks like it is still being built on the inside which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. read more

First time eating at this establishment. Very easy and casual not fancy at all on the outside or the inside. But the restaurant was clean restrooms were clean, which is always the key. Because if you don't clean the restrooms, you're not cleaning in the kitchen and folks remember that when you go into restaurants. You order at the counter grab a number take a seat , the young lady that was behind the counter was very friendly open and engaging, and was ready to answer any questions for this newcomer, and asked questions like hey did you want water? We have sodas we have other things anything you need. I'm here to help. Ordered the chicken Parm, my Son ordered the smash burger combo. They came in a timely manner. The food came hot and ready to eat. Chicken Parm was fabulous. Chicken was a good size for the money as you could see from the photo had a bite of my Son's Smashburger, and It was stupid good as well. They had pickles on the side of my son Smashburger and I tried a few of those and instantly hooked !!!! I remember telling my son " these have to be homemade there's no way these are purchased through a food purveyor" So after we finished our meal, I asked the young lady behind the counter. In fact I was correct. They do make their own pickles and holy crap. !!!!! Wowowooza ! This place is so great! We came for the NYE prix fixe menu and were delighted by all of it. We returned last night for our wedding anniversary and loved it some more. The smash burgers are so good and flavorful, and I'm a sucker for crispy potatoes on the side. Love it all and can't wait to be back again! read more

All I can say is WOWWWWW. I just ate the most satisfying meal at Picone, this is the best food I've had in a while. Literally everything was perfect, they get a 1000000/10 from me. The burrata was so good that I had to order another one to-go. Service was good and the cashier was quick to offer recommendations for our first time! This restaurant is an hour away from me and I'm coming back again this weekend, that's how amazing it was. read more
Made my way here as a fan of Boca and am so glad I found this place! Ordered a Burrata Burger that came with their version of fries. Everything was delicious! I know they change their menu regularly so I will be back to sample other dishes. read more
I've been seeing this place for some time now and have been wanting to try it out! Went in on a chilly rainy fall day and it was nice! Went early so it was quiet and they were quick. The plates were pricey but the portion accommodated for that. read more
Service was fast & helpful for our first visit. It's a small little place but is decorated up cute/trendy. We ordered the Rigatoni with Sunday sauce with the Chicken Parmesean and the Brussels and potatoes as well. When I say plates were cleaned, I mean if we wouldn't have been judged we'd have licked them clean! Thr limited menu and attentive staff is so awesome and it makes you want to come in and try everything as the menu changes. Parking can be...well challenging which is the only reason they didn't get a 5 star review. This place is so representative of what makes Denton Denton... so worth a try. Really cozy spot! We've been looking for smash burgers and really glad we found Picone. Two smash patties with cheese, grilled onions and house sauce. The side parm potatoes were perfectly crispy and delicious. We'll definitely be back! read more

Great question! They have some of the best food in Denton and love to support the communities that make Denton a place worth living. Personally, I love the smash burger but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Hopes this helps!
