He is also very honest with the repairs, which is a very hard to find quality these days with car repair shops most of which just want to rip you off. Many shops will give you a good deal on the first service to bring you in and then rip you off on the next visit and thereafter. Andy on the other hand been offering consistently great quality service and always charged us a fair amount visit after visit, for years now. I have a fiat 500 that I love!! I can't stand bringing my car to the dealership service department for a multitude of reasons but that's what I've always done because I never really knew of a good mechanic that deals with fiats. I've always dreamed of finding a mechanic that is very knowledgeable about fiats and is someone I can trust. After a recent unhappy experience at the local fiat dealer service department I decided to bring my car to Italian performance to see what they thought of the suggested repairs that the fiat service department said I needed. Well I won't go into specifics but I'll just say this is when I met Andy of Italian performance and I can honestly say I will never bring my fiat 500 anywhere else. Andy is almost too good to be true but he actually is that good. He knows fiats well (and mini coopers) and I completely trust him with mine. Such a friendly, knowledgeable and good person and even though I have not had the need for any major service done to my fiat I would not hesitate to have Andy be the one to do it. read more

Don does not disappoint. Billie needed a cosmetic face-lift and boy did she get one! Don co-ordinated the whole she-bang, so all I really did was cut checks, which is what I do best anyway. I'd love to someday fix-up my own project car, but.... it's not realistic. So, I hired somebody, and boy am I glad I chose Don. The paint-job is immaculate, and closer to the original than it used to be. We left most of the old chrome, but got the bumpers redone because the last guy who re-did them did a shoddy job. The real amazing part is the interior - Don sourced dead-stock original interior that matches perfectly because it is exactly what they used originally. The car is perfect. Yes, she cost me a pretty penny, but she's worth it. read more

Don and Andy used to work on my 67 Alfa Romeo Duetto and now they work on my 02 Cooper S JCW. The always to exemplary work and are honest to a fault. My only criticism is that it would be nice if they had another pair of hands and were able to make use of both their lifts. Sometimes it's hard to get my car in when I want. Andy guided me on the purchase of our second used Mini for our daughter, and Brandon bought my high mileage 2002 S from me because he is teaching his son the art of keeping them all on the road. Italian Performance (aka MINI Werks) is a really good place to take your MINI Cooper when its out of its warranty period. Just like other reviewers, I love my car -- MINI (2004). It's built like to last, but the MINI Cooper dealerships are PRICEY (to say the least) when you're no longer in warranty and you need to get regular service maintenance or repairs. I had been putting off getting the scheduled service because of the high fees by the dealership (and lack of private shops that work on MINIs) But, I'm glad I went with these guys. The owner, Don, is a hoot, and he's very honest and explains exactly what you need, why, and how much it's going to cost for each item. He rates the repairs in order of priority on what you NEED to get done right now and what you can wait on getting repaired...and what you can get done elsewhere for cheaper. I find that refreshing. Don is honest & ethical. When I spoke with Andy on the phone, he told me what might be wrong with my car...ranging from the best case scenario to the worst case scenario (the steering pump fan was continually running even with the car turned off!). Andy was pretty personable and provided some excellent customer service. The diagnostic fee is *minimal*, plus Don waives it if you let him do the work. My car needed a new power steering pump + maintenance + new brake pads. Basically, everything I knew I needed to get fixed. Plus, the price he quoted was for the service maintenance was easily 1/3 the cost of going to the dealership! So, I got my car fixed up for the total cost of going to the MINI Dealership. I think I got an awesome deal. Normally, these guys only do the Italian cars -- Ferrarri and Alfa Romeos -- but they've started working on MINIs as well, and I'm really really glad they did. Andy also owns a MINI Cooper, so he knows this car. This is a small shop and only repairs a few cars at a time, and I'm hesitant to give him a great review, because that just means all the other MINI cooper owners are going to go to him, and I won't be able to see him when I need to!!! read more

I recent purchased a 2006 Mini Cooper S JCW with high mileage (100k) with the full understanding that I'd be on the hook for some major repairs. The car was in great condition aesthetically and the price was right. Having already had the radiator, hoses and belts replaced, I started having trouble shifting gears and eventually the car wouldn't start because of a shattered throw out bearing/bad clutch. The car also had numerous other issues that I figured I'd have repaired all at once. First, ignore the name (actually, I think they might want to rename their company as it seems they do a lot of Mini work and both Don and Andy own Mini's). After taking the vehicle to several other mechanics and being underwhelmed by their service and skeptical about their pricing practices, I now feel confident in staying with Italian Performance for all repairs for my Mini. Don and Andy were extremely helpful and took a lot of time to explain their process and give me work options as I was pretty tight on funds to spend on car maintenance. I ended up having the clutch/flywheel replaced, thermostat/housing replaced, some hoses, oil/tranny fluid changed, brakes bled, short-shift kit installed, and a couple other free-bees. I'm no pro when it comes to cars, but I definitely know more than your average customer and everything Don suggested me made perfect sense and was very reasonable priced. Saved hundreds at least $500 compared to other quotes. My car is now running perfectly and I'm very happy with the work and overall experience. I highly recommend you take your Mini Cooper here for service and maintenance. read more

Awesome people. They know every little detail about Alfa Romeos and don't hesitate to share it with you. Don and Andy are both very friendly and up-front; they obviously deal with people who are picky about their rare cars and tell you exactly what they'd suggest to do before they do it. They even pick you up from the train station if you need it... Cars are a pricy business and it's not cheap getting a nice, old car saved and road-worthy, but if you ever wanted to do so then they would be the ones to do it. They even go so far as to show you the parts that came out of the car... scary, actually, seeing the wear on some of those parts. They don't talk down to you and just seem to be great people. Excellent Service I had a issue with my mini cooper over heating, I called Mini Werks spoke with Andrew about my car he told me he had no appointments available, he ask me what was the Issue after telling him he told me to bring my car so he could look at it and get me up and running. I had my car towed in for repair, as soon as it arrived Andrew called me with the issue told me the possible estimate of what it would cost me. By 5:00pm my car was ready AND it was sparkling clean it look like a brand new car. I drove it home, wow it's running like champ. When a transmission seal began leaking after the factor warranty and dealer's extended service contract benefits expired for my 2005 Mini Cooper S, I decided to have a look around before taking the car to the dealer for repair -- that was five years ago when I discovered this little repair shop and met Don and Andy. They examined the car carefully with both technology and their senses, and advised what repairs are likely needed now, in the next 6 months, or later. Their work was well done, punctual, and reasonably priced. I do brakes, oil changes and other minor maintenance myself, and they have been generous with advice. They know which OEM or after-market parts are well-made and worth the money. They understand the opportunities (more time) and constraints (fewer tools, no lift) of a home mechanic, and align suggestions accordingly. Don't get me wrong, I have no beef our area's Mini dealer. Their staff is warm and they have advised on home repairs, and they know my name even when it has been years since my last visit. But they are much further away from my home, and while their prices may be negotiable, getting competing bids is time-consuming. And I don't want to spend more time or money than necessary to keep my car in good shape. For this low-mileage 10 y/o car, Italian Performance is my first choice. read more
