Very convenient to order on one of the two self service kiosks, though a line can form at times (wish they had at least one more). There's a useful screen showing all of the orders that are ready and being worked on. There's a good amount of seating well spread out with some tables and a large communal table. Some power outlets near the wall for charging. There's a cool tea tasting and education area where they let you taste and learn about tea. They have some of the best tea of any chain, you can really taste the tea flavor. Their boba also comes warm and fresh in your cup. And how fun is their built in cup holder rope!

Still, the overall taste was nice and mellow. They also offer an "ice blended" version of the Halo-Halo, which I imagine might be closer to the real deal. I'm curious to try that next time.

This was my first time visiting them again since the ownership change so it's been a minute. What I see here now is just depressing, not just because the place was empty, but it's now devoid of anything that felt like a spot someone would want to hangout at. No music, when I got in there was one person waiting for their food and nobody was even at the front counter for minutes before somebody finally came out from the back. Ordering is just through the kiosk now, which isn't a bad thing. The part that was really rough was the reason why I even came here; the boba. I got a regular milk tea which now they only have a single size. I miss the extra large size they used to have, but oh well. The next issue comes with how much the boba actually costs. They may have gotten rid of the extra large cup sizes, but they're still charging the almost the same amount for it in a much smaller cup. What a deal, right? And we get to the actual drink. When the person making the drink after receiving your order finishes within a minute of making it, it's never a good sign. Why is that? Well, they had premade jug of milk tea ready to pour out for your tasting pleasure. When you have a premade jug of milk tea, it's never a good sign. While I've had them at other places that have done this before, and it's ranged from bad to mediocre, the one here at Milk Tea Lab, now, was in a word, rancid. It was incredibly gross with absolutely no redeeming qualities to it. I generally try not to be so harsh, but this was really not it and I couldn't even finish the boba because of how bad the milk tea was. It's sad to see how big of a dropoff this spot has become compared to what it used to be. This isn't like when they first opened where there were only 2-3 boba spots right next to them. Now there's at least a handful of options within a few minutes away, and dozens of spots within a mile or two, and this is what they're pushing out? It's a shame but this Milk Tea Lab which was their starter store is no longer a place I would ever go back to for boba. It's time is now past with this new ownership.

But, I am patient for good coffee, and it was great! I also recognize that this is a small business, not a Starbucks, so things operate differently. Had to check myself a little, lol. The coffee was actually so good that I didn't even need to put sugar in it and I normally always do. I am a true coffee lover and the flavor of this coffee was bold, smooth, just the right hit of acidity...not bitter at all. You can tell the beans are quality and roasted/ground fresh. The beans are clearly respected. Gotta give five stars just based on that. Staff are reserved but very pleasant. Also, the pastry was amazing flavor-wise but I think they warmed it up in the microwave as it was heated within 20 seconds and I heard the whirring/beeping of what sounded like a microwave, though she heated it in the back so I couldn't see. Individual desserts and such are really atheistically pleasing, but they are on the pricier end of things. Yet again, this is Lafayette, and of course, the precision and time that went into making all these baked goods.
