Interesting spot! We're from out of town and have enjoyed a handful of restaurants in Saugus. We tend to stop here when flying in and out of Boston. We tried Ithaki without doing much research, and to our surprise it ended up being a bit fancier than we expected (the other places we've tried nearby are definitely more casual). The staff was warm, accommodating, and kind. They didn't have any availability (which actually surprised us) but offered seats at the bar for dinner. The bar ended up being a great experience, and we didn't feel out of place at all. The food itself was really good. My husband ordered the moussaka, one of his favorite Greek dishes, and he kept saying it was the best he's had in New England. My chicken dish was tasty and absolutely massive; I took half home. It came with these delicious carrots, though the sauce was a bit on the greasier side. We also split a halloumi salad that was good, but not the best salad I've ever had by any means. We'd definitely return, especially now that we know it's a solid date-night spot. The food was great and fairly priced, the staff was nice, and overall we really enjoyed our meal.

Outstanding Experience at Ithaki in Peabody! Quickly became a favorite. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm, attentive service and an inviting, elegant atmosphere. The Mediterranean-inspired menu is packed with fresh, vibrant flavors--everything is beautifully prepared and thoughtfully presented with upmost finesse. Ithaki delivered an amazing dining experience for our long overdue date night. Baked Feta An absolute must try dish. Served warm, the feta is perfectly creamy on the inside with a golden, slightly crisp top wrapped in phyllo, sprinkled with pistachio crumbs & drizzled with honey. The contrast of the warm cheese with the honey & the tangy pomegranate is perfection. Falafel a la Petros Crispy on the outside, soft and perfectly spiced on the inside--every bite is packed with fresh herbs and bold Mediterranean flavor. It's served beautifully with a delicious house made hummus and pita. Moroccan Crusted Tuna Cooked perfectly with a wonderful sear on the tuna. Packed with an abundance of Mediterranean flavor served with Harissa hummus puree, lentils with spinach & finocio. Youvetsi Braised lamb that just melts-in-your-mouth tender, perfectly seasoned, and served over orzo in a tomato-wine sauce that's both comforting and deeply flavorful.

A lovely, busy Greek restaurant. I started my meal with a nice expresso martini; my friend enjoyed the Persephone. I needed a light meal, so I chose the egg lemon soup and mussels. The waiter was right, there was enough for two. My friend had the cod. My only disappointments were the afterdinner masticha drink - a very light and aromatic drink. I think I did not care for their brand. Also the galatoboreko was over saturated with overly sweet syrup and needed more custard. Otherwise, a wonderful meal.

I'm slowly working my way through the breakfast menu here, which is difficult bc they have so many great options. Shakshuka was extremely good, came with 3 eggs in a small cast iron skillet. I added chorizo for $4. This is a very shareable meal. Without the chorizo, this meal is vegetarian, it is also low carb (even lower carb if you skip the toast), and high protein. I love any place that has healthy and unhealthy options. And as always, service was superb. The waitstaff knows their regulars but are also great with new guests. Traditional Greek music plays in the background.

We came here on a Friday night and everything was so good! If you'd like a booth, you may want to make a reservation but otherwise, we were seated right away. Jenny is a 5 star server, super attentive and went above and beyond our entire visit. I really appreciate her hospitality. We started with the souvlaki, the scallops and the octopus. The souvlaki is tender and flavorful. The scallops with the mushrooms, asparagus, whipped potatoes and cranberry were some of the best I've ever tried, and I would absolutely get the meal next time. The octopus was cooked to perfection and the fava with the garlic aioli + arugula is delicious. Their Broken Rake drink was amazing, as well as the desserts. The chocolate cake is extremely decadent and I especially loved the galactobouriko! broken rake 5/5 souvlaki 4.5/5 octopus 5/5 scallops 5/5 galactobouriko 5/5 choc cake 4/5 (if you're a choc lover it would be a 5) I highly recommend checking out Ithaki for their amazing food + service, and they're great for groups! We came here on Father's Day to celebrate the wonderful hubs. We were a bit early for our reservation, but they gladly sat us. The place is very large and open but elegantly designed and laid out. It would be very fitting for a large group gathering. We also noticed they had a function room tucked back behind the bathrooms. Ana was our server for the evening and did an exemplary job. She was always around when we needed her, made wine recommendations, and even gave me a tasting or two. Her smile was contagious! For starters, they offered complimentary bread and a tomato dip consisting of tomato, feta, garlic, and olive oil. The bread was soft, chewy, and warm. The dip was cold and refreshing, with a nice bite to it! Cocktails soon arrived. Hubs had their version of a mojito, which he thought was super yummy and refreshing. I opted for the hot and dirty, and it delivered! The appetizers were the layered hummus--divine! It hit all the taste notes and had lots of different textures! Keftedes were lamb and pork fritters with a nice tzatziki sauce. For dinner, I chose the blackened salmon over rice pilaf and a carrot ginger puree. This was a flavor bomb in my mouth--so delicious. Hubs had the lamb skewers with potato puffs. He noted that it was cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. He loved the char on the vegetables, too. Who can pass up dessert when you are celebrating? Hubs chose the limoncello cake, which he absolutely loved! It was a bit too sweet for me, but that is okay! In chatting with a neighboring table, they loved their meal as well and wanted me to snap a pic of their dessert, lava cake, which was thoroughly enjoyed! I ended the night with Espresso Martinis, and oh my my! So yummy and my goodness those glasses! So cute! We will be back. Even that night, sitting there, we were debating who to invite on our next Ithaki adventure!

Over the top Greek restaurant connected to a hotel is a bit surprising in a pleasant way. Access to parking from the highway is a bit tricky. Each dish was a work of art and tasty as well. Good place to stop if leaving Boston for more northern destinations. It's on the east side of the highway so if you are traveling south, no way to get to it.

terrible service, counting children who didn't order a meal a person so she could automatically charge tip, and blah food that took over an hr to come out, in an empty restaurant. Would definitely not return nor recommend. read more

... Beautiful space ... we loved the location in Ipswich but this space is stunning ... beautiful flowers throughout the space ... comfort and seating ... Authentic Greek food! We always order grape leaves, tzatziki & pita & keftedes. So delicious! He orders souvlaki ... I usually get pastitsio or gyro! Dessert is a must: Galaktoboureko. We share it but ... he eats most of it. Lol! If you're looking for authenticity... this is the place to go! read more

Used to be a better place. Took 25 min to ask us what we want to drink. (Don't bite what you can't eat) Don't reserve tables if you don't have employees. Only 2 attending all restaurant and the front of the house. Half of menu was gone and we were attending during dinner time at 7 PM. Disappointed read more

Completely fake Greek food and over priced ordered pretty much 10 different things off the menu and everything we ordered was completely terrible the lamb is a complete joke the moussaka was terrible and everything we ordered was completely dry $320 without any alcoholic beverages for a family of five and we went home hungry place is absolutely terrible read more

The food is fantastic. They have also done an amazing job with the décor-contemporary but not ostentatious. The soundproofing also makes for a very nice ambiance for talking quietly within our table of 4 even I. A very busy restaurant. Lastly, I want to say how wonderful our waitress, Josselin, was. She was clearly busy, but so warm and friendly, and extremely efficient. This was actually my 4th visit and every time it has been exquisite. read more

Hello, ate here a couple of weeks ago while in town. Everything about it was impeccable, the wine selection had a full menu page of selections. So many in fact that I had to try 2 or 3 different Cabernets. Started with the Babaganoush, excellent and lots of it; so much so that it came home with me. The Mediterranean salad was fabulous with an amazing ginger based dressing. Nuts, berries, feta and olives. For the main course I had a spanakopita (2 good sized servings on the plate). Also delicious. Just needed to ask for a few lemon wedges as I am accustomed to eating this dish in a Greek restaurant. All in all, absolutely fabulous. Can't wait to go back again soon. Wow! We had Ithaki cater an event for us yesterday, and we couldn't be more pleased. The food was amazing and Petro was so easy to work with. He is truly a gifted chef that puts love into his food. The presentation of the Greek salad was like no other. Everything was meticulously cut, neat and well seasoned. The chicken kebob was moist and the salmon melted in your mouth. We also ordered the lamb youvetsi that was tender with perfectly cooked orzo. They exceeded all expectations and the passion for his profession is so evident in his food. read more

The chef is simply amazing! The restaurant beautiful. The lamb chops were seasoned by an expert and grilled to perfection! The lamb sauce was sublime. The baba ghanoush was charred to perfection. The tzatziki was perfectly balanced with the right amount of herb, cucumber, yogurt and seasoning! This is the new place to get Mediterranean in Boston! Really nice place. This was previously "Our Place" and before that, Carrabba's Italian. The owners made just enough changes to the space that it looks completely different from the previous restaurant. We had drinks and dinner at the bar. We were blown away by the village dip (comes with bread with every meal) and the Half Chicken. We came here on a date night and it was not a cheap date by any means, but the great food and service were well worth the price. I wouldn't bring picky kids or teens here, as I'm not sure there is enough on the menu to appeal to the likes of my son. We'll be back, but just for date night, not a family dinner. read more

Food was great, menu was authentic, the waitress was new and still training, but tried her best to answer all our questions. Management style felt like they were a bit overwhelmed and working out the kinks of opening a new restaurant, but all in all - I'd go again. One thing - it's not kid friendly. No changing tables and they took forever to find the high chairs. The ambiance isn't kid friendly either. More of a date night or friends' dinner vibe. read more

So disappointing. The old location in Ipswich had everything. New location has no ambience, is noisy, poor service and the food is nowhere as good as it was. Bit like eating in an ocean state job lot with white marble walls. Surprisingly busy though. As if there are no other options nearby. read more

Wow, great new find - I had a fig martini which had great depth (and half a fresh fig along with a Luxardo cherry), a delightful fattoush salad and braised lamb shank. My husband had a tenderloin special which came with a unique twist on ratatouille, which was molded and wrapped in a zucchini strip with a slab of potato on top. Dessert was Galactobouriko, warm vanilla custard wrapped in phyllo with a honey glaze and cherries - outstanding. We arrived pretty early on a Friday (4:15) and I was surprised to find a couple of large parties and a few other tables already occupied - the one issue here is acoustics (tile floor) and seating - we were initially offered a table tucked in a corner but only 2 feet from a party of 8 when there was lots of more private space available - we were seated elsewhere, but as the restaurant began to fill up, the noise levels increase - another couple seated next to us as we were preparing to leave also asked to be moved because of noise levels but were told there wasn't any other place available. read more

Simply FABULOUS. Spent the entire week in Salem and one dining experience after the next was disappointing & had concluded that Salem was no dining destination. THEN, I found Ithaki & all was changed. All the Greek classics wonderfully prepared and presented in true authentic fashion. Grilled Octopus was the best I've had and the Saganaki was a good as Greektown in Chicago. I think the hostess was part owner & simply lovely. Staff was friendly & professional. In an area where a nice dinner is a challenge--this place is an absolute gem and a must try. I'll be back next time I'm in the neighborhood and can't wait. read more

Been here a number of times on the weekend , but decided to take advantage of not well publicized Tuesday night dollar oyster special they have. Not disappointed, the oysters were large, tasty and served on a tray of ice. Then we split a Caesar's Salad (excellent) followed by a lamb kabob for the wife and clams and pasta for me. Everything was very good but what really set it apart was our server Elise. She was very attentive, was informed on gluten sensitivity my wife has and spaced the servings out perfect. Food was good but we waited a very long time for it and it was on a Tuesday night....not busy at all. But the real kicker was my wife and friend ordered martinis and asked that the dirty ice from the shaker come with the drinks on the side. They got the ice but was charged $2.00 for it. We didn't notice the charges, (wife and friend ordered another) until we got home and reviewed the receipt. We spent $340.00 there that night and these (don't want to use the word I'm thinking of) people had the nerve to charge $2.00 x 2 for ice that would have gone down the drain. Every restaurant we've ever been to will gladly give you the ice and never has any place charged for it. Ask me if I'll ever eat there again or recommend the place to anyone. We will not and I am passing this story on to anyone who will listen and the many people that I have told won't go there because of this. Food was not very good, my duck was not rendered , neither of our meals were good. I would not go back@ was not prices are super expensive, this place is not worth it, hopefully it will close soon! Horrible experience. Awful food and slow service. I ordered the Moussaka and Baklava and had explosive diarrhea later that day. Did not enjoy. Overall I did not enjoy my experience here and I would nit recommend this place to anyone. read more

Went here for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. Unassuming location on rt 1 next to a Holiday Inn, but once inside it is charming. Bright, cheery, and welcoming. The hostess was very friendly as was our bartender/waitress as we decided to have lunch at the bar. We both had lamb souvlaki. I'd give it 3.5 stars. Yummy, but could have been slightly more tender/juicy. The tzatziki it came with was super fresh and tasty though. The eggplant appetizer we split was out of this world. Big enough that it could have been lunch and just soooo good. I will definitely be back! I spotted about 10 other dishes on the lunch menu I'd love to try. Also, they have a lot of gluten free options (all marked on the menu with "GF") which I appreciated as I am celiac. read more

There was a group of us: 3 adults, 2 young children. When we told the Host we had 2 young kids, I could feel the internal "eye-roll". it wasn't an obvious gesture, but this restaurant clearly is not "child-friendly". They do not have a kids menu. Really? Lamb was skimpy, felafel was dry & tasteless, octopus was good & kids burgers were way too huge & expensive. (but no kids menu, so what could we do?) For what we paid, I'd say find another lunch place. Not worth it, & I didn't appreciate feeling unwelcome. read more

We had a great Greek dinner. Great service & had fun talking about our family area in Greece. If you are looking for a Grecian experience & wonderful Greek food, this is your place. Beautiful restaurant & spotless. We were staying next door at the Holiday Inn, so it was convenient. But if we ever come back to Boston again, we would eat here for sure. read more

We opened in 1997 with the dream of offering traditional Greek and Mediterranean dishes to our guests. Over the years we have continued to offer freshest seafood and produce to our guests. Continuing to update the look of our restaurant and menus to stay current with the times.

Meet the Business Owner: Petros M.

Petros began Ithaki in 1997 cooking some of his Mother's favorite Greek recipes. He has continued with her favorites adding his own creative flair over time. His background in interior design comes through in every plate and throughout the restaurant. His warm, welcoming heart shines through in his loyal staff and to each guest who enters.

The cocktail I got was fine; I could make a slightly worse version at home at a fraction of the price (or even two at once!). We we were told later by a friendlier Salemite at a bar with a better vibe that there is a Massachusetts state law that prohibits having two drinks at once at a bar. Fair enough. Had our server told us that, unfortunately, he wasn't allowed to give us two drinks at once -- instead of making us feel like idiots/degenerates for daring to ask -- we probably would have dropped a lot of vacation money there that night. Oh well; we had a great time at the other places we went.

Rude. Nasty. I just don't understand. Food is a B. Not great. Not too bad. A little overpriced for what you get. Special mussels were awful. That was an app. Dinner special of sea bass was stinky -- I mean STINKY -- and was overcooked and dry. Chicken dinner was tasty. A little buttery but decent. Their Greek food is worthy of the Greek economic crisis. Stay home. Most importantly - been there a few times after awesome yoga class and the bartender knew us. Got along well. Well, tonight as I got up from my seat I heard a loud voice from the kitchen say "good, the LESBIONICS are leaving. Ha, ha. Great they suck. Gay marriage sucks ". LOVE IT...LOVE IT.....I'm a regular at Ithaki, I just love the food. My husband is Greek so I am very familiar with the Greek cuisine and these guys do too, the food is great. I read some review that people complain about the food, OK guys listen you can't judge a book by its cover. There is no restaurant that everything is great all the time..seriously now...If you guys give Ithaki a chance and go often and try all the different foods they offer, you will realize that there are more great plates than there are bad. Take the saganaki appetiser...AMAZING, the lamb chops, THE BEST, the gyros...FINGER LICKING GOOD, or the carbonara with duck...OMG thats TO DIE FOR. Tonight I have come across some crazy reviews. I have been to Ithaki and cannot belive the review below. The menu is outstanding and the service at the bar is wonderful. Although I have eaten in the dinning area as well. Organic, fresh and creative cuisine is what makes this place a great find. Come with an appetite and leave the house in a good mood. You cannot expect a dinning experience to change your disposition. Goodness these people reviewing need to get a grip.
