Could have sworn that I've already written a review for It's a Small World, but I guess I left a review for their holiday version (the first time I went after ages). An iconic ride at Disneyland and a MUST since it is one of the longer rides with so, so much to look at. We've never had to wait too long in the queue, but if there is a long line, make sure you have sunblock and some shade if it's summertime because the direct sunlight is brutal. Once you depart on your little boats you make a journey visiting all the continents around the world with various countries represented for each one. Everything is very cute and happy, since "It's a Small World, after all". The song is sung throughout the ride in diverse languages and dialects. Lots to look at in the details of each area and it's neat to see familiar Disney faces in their regions of origin, including under the sea with Ariel! My favorites are definitely the geese and other cute animals you can see throughout the world and Stitch too! I believe that this is the only place in the park where you can listen to the safety instructions in French, German, and Japanese as it's only in English and Spanish on other rides. I'm hoping they add Mandarin and Cantonese one day to represent Disneyland Shanghai and HK! Lovely ride overall. read more

This beloved ride at Disneyland is one of those rides that some people love and other people find annoying. Growing up, my mother loved this ride and would always sing the "It's a Small World" song. It's a Small World is a boat ride through many different countries. While going through each country, hundreds of audio-animatronic dolls sing "Its a Small World" over and over again in their own language (a song written by the Sherman Brothers). These dolls are dressed in traditional costumes from many cultures around the world. It's a Small World debuted at the 1964 New York World's Fair and opened at Disneyland in 1966. It's a Small World is a longtime favorite for many Disneyland regulars. I go to Disneyland often and this is a ride that I will only occasionally go on. I enjoy it, but I will skip it to make time for the more bigger thrill rides. My favorite part of It's a Small World is the flying magic carpets and the people singing underwater. Over the years, they have added audio-animatronic dolls of Disney characters from some of the newer movies to the ride. A classic ride in Disneyland! I usually don't go on this ride unless I want to escape the summer heat or sit down for a while. The song will replay over and over again in your head for the rest of the day. However, it's a must during the holidays. So Its a small world is another iconic ride that is really Walt Disney's ode to celebrating all the cultures of the world and bringing Peace on earth. We got to go while the Christmas (or should I say Holiday decorations are up). Too bad Disney took any reference to The Prince of Peace - Jesus, out of the Christmas carols that were played. I digress. It is nice to have a calm ride to go on and chill before hanging out with the crowds again. I can't help but wonder if the makers of Tianna's Bayou were attempting ( but failing completely) to do something similar. read more

With all the times I've been to Disneyland I barely remember how this ride goes. The pop culture of it makes me feel like I know what to expect. In September, the ride was closed so I didn't get to experience the regular small world ride. In December, I got to ride it but it was the holiday decoration and songs. The wait was only 20minutes but when I say the ride was longer than other rides, it is LONGER. We got on with other people with the 4 of us. Gotta make sure the kids don't try to touch the water because the boat and walls will hurt them! The dolls were creepy! I can't help but notice some child play looking dolls! The song is soooo repetitive and it's the festive dogs so it was actually not as bad as the original song. I was ready to leave after the third room but each time you think your done, the ride keeps going! It's a fun ride for the kids, so much to see and point at. The ceiling might take you out of the magic, some ceiling boards are looking a bit rough. During summer, I bet the cool area and long ride makes it a great resting ride. But in winter, it's really festive and colorful! read more

I'd been in this ride many, many times before but I still make it a point to do it every single time I get to visit the park. If this was a review on the song, then I would do negative stars if I was able! The artwork of Mary Blair is iconic, and thus saves the rating (3 stars)! I do find myself trying this attraction every once in awhile as a Magic Key holder, and I do love the exterior and interior of the ride. If only I could remember to bring my AirPods to drown out that dreadful song. During the holiday time at the Disneyland Resort, this attraction will change and is definitely worth a visit! read more

I've always heard people talking about this iconic old ride; I was finally able to ride on it recently. This ride is located in Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World Resort. This one opened in 1971 and one of many throughout the world. It's a 12-15 persons on a boat; 4 rows and 4 riders per row. The theme song "It's a small world" by Sherman Brothers played in the background. There were hundreds of animatronics dressed up as different cultures throughout the world. Even though the ride was cheesy and out of date, I really enjoyed it. I liked the meaning of it and how it promotes world peace; regardless of our background, color, beliefs, and differences, we should all get along or at least respect each other. The characters were cute and somewhat creepy; overly cheerful, but I do watch a lot of horror movies so it's just my mind lol. I think everyone should ride it at least once and I'm glad I did! read more

They still had the holiday theme going although the outside looked like the ride was closed cause they were removing the Holiday lights and theme. Anyways this ride is the best for relaxation and bringing back childhood memories and singing along with the music. This is always a go to ride. read more

GETTING HERE: Disneyland. Done. :) REVIEW: Oh, where to begin? I have so many amazing memories of this attraction, from my childhood days until just last year for a birthday celebration. Call me old-fashioned, a child at heart, you can fill in the blanks: to me, you haven't done Disneyland until you've enjoyed this attraction. Period. I love Small World anytime of year. This water/boat ride is a fantastic experience on a hot summer day, to take a quick respite from the heat. AND, especially enjoyable, if not more, during the Holidays. You must see it decorated with the lights. IMO, almost as spectacular as the Castle at Holiday time. Don't let the potentially overwhelming line deter you: hang tight and you can usually move through pretty quickly. I love It's a Small World~! Sure the song gets stuck in your head every time you ride it...sometimes to the point of annoyance driving you up the wall...but it's a classic! And the message of lalala, we all can coexist, lalala - I love it! It's such a chill ride and sooooo~ much longer than the Disney World version. At the Disneyland version, you'll be sailing for 15 minutes compared to just 10 minutes at Disney World. Either way it's long and can offer a nice respite for your feet. And when you think about this ride being open for almost 60 years...that's insane, such a feat! In 2009, they added a bunch of classic Disney characters to the cast of children singing. My favorite addition was Aladdin and Jasmine, all sorts of romantic on their magic carpet. Disney legend is that any kids who act up at the park, end up living in perpetuity stuck singing in the ride, LOL! They just added characters in wheelchairs this week. How was this not a thing before with 300 animatronic characters?! But I also appreciate when things expand for inclusivity. read more

IF dolls scare you, then don't go on this ride lolol Animated dolls from around the world lol Riders beware: You will get the song stuck in your head lol This ride is great for all ages. It's an easy ride. You just float in the water and enjoy the animatronics. This is an older ride. It probably needs an update. But it is a chill and relaxing ride (as long as you don't have any issues with dolls lol). The ride feels like it takes a while because you float so slow, but it takes about roughly 15 minutes I believe. It is fun to see all the cultures represented and how they portray each one on the ride. The idea is that we are all connected and human. I wouldn't wait a long time for this ride- not worth it. It certainly is You can't come to Disneyland without boarding this iconic ride. I remember riding this when I was little and I feel I've come full circle bringing my son here. The line moves quickly and if you come at the right time just after sunset. You are treated to the staff turning on the lights. It's really beautiful especially during the holidays. Get on the boat and enjoy a smooth ride for about 10 mins. All the songs are in different languages as you pass through the different countries. Overall five stars. It's a Small World originally debuted at the 1964 World's Fair in New York. After a couple of years, the ride was brought to Disneyland. The ride has been a staple ever since. It's a Small World is a leisurely boat ride. Animatronic children happily sing all while adorned in traditional garb of their countries. An update was made to the ride a number of years ago. Characters from some animated favorites have been added to the ride. Keep your eyes peeled for such characters as Alice of Alice and Wonderland, and Woody and Jessie of Toy Story, just to name a few. At around 15 minutes, It's a Small World is one of the longer Disneyland rides. Our last ride had a wait time of about 10 minutes. Anytime the ride is longer than the wait is a win in my book. On hot days, the longer ride time gives a welcomed break from the heat. If you are waiting in line, and hear the clock chiming, make sure to look at the clock. This clock is a giant glockenspiel. The figures that come out are representative of the figures on the ride. I know it's a controversial topic. People either love or hate this ride. I am among those who adore it. Much to my husband's chagrin, It's a Small World is a must ride for me. I have imparted this love of the ride to my children. read more

Cutest store in all of Disneyland. Maybe because it is located in the most magical part of the Park, at the exit of It's A Small World... so everything is cute, and charming, and kid-like, very pastel and "fluffy". Most of the stores around Disneyland are about the same except for those that are at the exits of rides, those will sell you items that pertain to the ride. Like exiting Star Tours you will find Star Wars items, Space Mountain you will find things related to the galaxy, etc. So it makes sense that this one would have all the sweetness of Small World and Fantasy Land. So, my review isn't necessarily about the items inside as it is about the Cast Members we've encountered inside this shop. On one occasion 2 or 3 of the CMs spoke for quite a while to my mom about how one would go about becoming a CM, she had asked because my nephew has always been interested. They were very patient with her and explained kind of the ins and outs of what it involves. On another occasion, I had brought a face mask (during Covid times) and I hated it, I thought it would be a fun one to wear but I felt like an idiot wearing it... so I went in to ask them if they had any of the disposable ones. Not only did they (which probably all places had them available) but they were so very friendly about giving me one and didn't seem fake or insincere. They actually had me laughing about my mask.... but they completely understood why I'd want another. To those that I've encountered at this shop, thank you for making he experience a pleasant and memorable one. read more

Small World is Walt's Disney's 2nd entry into the New York world's fair in 1964-65. Dedicated to unity as shown by the children of the world, "It's a small world" captures the essence of what we as inhabitants of this earth have in common. The song "It's a small world" was written by the Sherman brothers who also produced the music to Mary Poppins. The art of Mary Blair is extensive throughout this ride. The beautiful front with the clock that ticks from side to side is there along with magnificient topiaries gracing the attraction. The ride starts outdoors as you enter a large boat and you slowly make your way from country to country as you hear children singing the theme song. Disney does what it can to keep the attraction fresh. Look for Disney movie characters such as Alice, the White Rabbit, the little Mermaid, the three cabelleros, Nemo, and more. You are welcomed by signs into this wonderous place and at the end all representatives of the different countries unite to form a final scene of togetherness. This is truly classic Disney at its best. The Magic Kingdom counterpart: Disneyland excels here in presenting the "full show" with scenes I had not viewed before including the USA. I often wondered while riding that version whatever happened to our country except at the grand finale. Their ride is totally enclosed in a building and here and there you will see a few children from countries not represented before such as a wedding in Israel. I will credit them with the fact they have the ferris wheel scene right before you leave but being able to see the attraction as Walt Disney imagined it goes without saying. It's a small world has become such a famous attraction that you can actually see an original "doll" in Disney's 100th the exhibition currently on tour in both the US and in London. The ride empties out into a small gift shop which we didn't spend much time in. All in all it leaves a great legacy not only to us but to future generations. Disney classic, a must do ride if you've never been. It's great for kids and also gives you a chance to sit down and rest and take in the sights in an air conditioned building. This is also great for older folks that are looking for a ride with no crazy thrills. It's a lazy river boat ride with dolls or puppets that sing It's a Small World. Wait time varies, and it can get hot in the summer with little to no shade, so try going before the afternoon or in the evening when the sun has gone down. This is also a great location to catch the parade as they have a few projections on the outside of the building to keep people entertained as they wait. The last time I went they projected scenes from Encanto and played the song We Don't Talk About Bruno. read more

Never never never missed this ride every time I come to Disneyland. For a Friday , the line wasn't that super long wait so it was nice not to be scorched under the sun. This attraction is located at the Fantasyland area. "It's a small world" boat ride is at Disney theme parks around the world and is considered a Walt Disney masterpiece. We embarked on a fantasy boat ride and sailed smoothly through a tunnel and at the entrance we were greeted by a welcome attractive signs written in different languages. Singing along to the song "It's a Small World After All " during this boat tour cruising along the Waterway on this 10-minute journey through all 7 continents. My grandkids were very entertained passing through chorus of childlike dolls and animals from around the globe. The colorful, vivid, and fantastical scenes representing the iconic sights and sounds features over 300 audio-animatronic dolls adorned in their traditional costumes from cultures around the world. Well I'm so proud that the Philippines was represented by a single doll in her "kimono" and fanning itself . Too bad that my 18 month old granddaughter fell asleep during this journey but the other 2 really were excited and enjoyed the journey. As we were exiting the tunnel there were several written signs of Thank You in different languages. read more

It's A Small World Toy Shop is a store located outside of the It's A Small World Ride. The Ride actually drops you off right into the store. The store is relatively small compared to some of the other Disneyland stores on property. The shop has items themed around the It's A Small World Ride. There is a board game, puzzles, clothing, and toys available. It can be difficult to get out of due to the limited amount of walkways available. There are a lot of people getting off the ride and the store can get busy quickly. Most of the time, the line at the register is short with limited amount of wait time to make purchases. Annual pass does work at this shop. read more

This ride is great for babies and adults alike. The ride is long and the building it's in is semi-climate controlled, so great for adults who need a seated break from the chaos and weather. For babies, it's well lit, doesn't have any scary parts, and held our baby's attention the whole time. A few of the little kid rides on the Disney side are actually not that kid-friendly lol - they're insanely loud, dark, and have scary parts. This ride isn't one of those. Could some of the scenes inside this ride use some aesthetic upgrades? Sure, but at the same time, the less-than-perfect scenery is what gives this attraction some of its charm. I took my not-quite-three-year-old to Disneyland a couple months ago and went on It's a Small World for the first time in my adult life. I would never wait in that line to ride without a child, but Leo B. loved it, and it was less racist than I remembered, so five stars. The estimated wait time when we got in line was 25 minutes, but I guess everyone decided they wanted to see multicultural puppets at the same time because we ended up waiting for around an hour. Thankfully, our kid did great in line. Maybe toddlers have seen too little of the world to get bored at Disneyland. The ride was cute and long enough to feel worthwhile. Leo loved being on the little boat and was absolutely mesmerized by the song and the puppets. We pointed out the Korean ones, since we're Korean, and the Mexican ones, since we've been to Mexico, and he just feasted on it all. He loved his first trip to Disneyland, and It's a Small World was probably his favorite part. He still talks about it, and I imagine we'll ride it several more times in the years to come. read more

I haven't been on It's a Small World for such a long time until my most recent trip to a Disneyland. I had gone a couple years ago to the Walt Disney World version but the one here in Disneyland is the original and way better. Since this is outdoors, the facade is amazing and you can spot it from really far away. (The WDW version is an unimpressive indoor interpretation) I was genuinely surprised by the design of the the ride and how the boats moves. There's got to be jets or currents but they're not noticeable at all. One cool thing about the dolls here in this ride is that there are some dolls dressed up like the characters from movies so they are fun to point out and identify. Although I was saying how amazing it is to be out side, the downside is that there isn't much covering here so you are going to under the relentless sun, especially if you're here on a hot sunny day. Even some of the cast members have giant umbrellas to hide under so they are not baking. What a wonderful and classic ride this is I'm glad I rode this, even though I typically do not come to this far back the park, but I might more often now that Toontown should be opening soon and Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway is open now too. read more

What a small world! Omg how does this attraction not have 5 stars!!?? It is the BEST! It's colorful, happy, relaxing, enjoyable, nostalgic and truly one of a kind! Small World is never dull. It's always so great to ride this ride in the middle of the day & sit down and relax while enjoying one of Disneyland's most beloved nostalgic attractions. I have always been a fan. There is so much to admire! Diversity and art meets Disney magic. There are special Disney characters in the ride!!! You'll have to see if you can spot them! I think it may be scientifically impossible to brood or be in a bad mood on Its A Small World. Its an automatic mood booster. Maybe it's the combo of that catchy song, the bright, colorful dreamy designs or storybook scenery. Such an iconic ride!!! This ride has been a family favorite with my parents and hubby's mom (his dad finds it immature lol). We recently went on this ride together and felt all of the nostalgia. We sang to the iconic song and pointed out familiar Disney characters placed throughout the ride. This ride brings instant happiness to us! Wait time for this ride varies, but it moves faster than the listed wait time. We don't recommend waiting for over 15 minutes for this ride. Overall amazing ride. We watched the documentary on how this ride was made and was blown away by the fact that Disney Legend, Alice Davis had went through dozens of National Geographic magazines to find inspiration on designing the costumes. The amount of work, creativity, and the technology made available in the early 1960s made this ride all the more special to us. read more

So I have to say when I come to Disneyland this isn't a ride I run to. It's a good ride for a little rest! It's been a very long time since I've set foot on it so I gave it a go again.
