Need an air conditioned break from the harsh Anaheim sun? Need to duck out of the rain? Need to rest your feet a bit after traveling to a galaxy far far away? This is the perfect escape on any day. Yes, people say this epic ear worm of a song is their worst nightmare, but I love it. This ride always takes me back to my childhood days. I love the song. I used to have a watch that played this song. As a small child, I had a story book that talked about a boy getting lost at Disneyland and getting on this wonderful ride. At the end, his family was waiting for him. I think back to the World's Fair where this ride was first presented to the public (no, I'm not old enough to have gone then). What a great message of unity and peace. I have been on the equivalent of this ride in Hong Kong and although it is different, it still very much is almost the same. This is a nice boat ride to see different lands in different areas of the world. A little peak into aspects of the culture, displayed through singing dolls. A few years ago they added in characters from Disney movies into some scenes. It is exciting to see how many you can find or how many you recognize. This is a peaceful ride with no drops or sundown turns. Once in awhile you might tap the boat in front of you or get tapped by the boat behind you. Just overall pleasant. Once we got stuck near the end of the ride and my companion had to endure 30 extra minutes of the song in that journey. Needless to say, he asked if we could skip that ride for a few months after that. I would absolutely recommend this ride. It's slow, restful, air conditioned and a little escape from reality. read more

This is a classic, classic ride that for me dates all the way back to my childhood! I cannot come to a Disney park with this ride and not go on it. True, it may be a bit dated, but it is so nostalgic, it is like I am taking a trip and reliving my happy years. My children also spent their childhood with this ride, so it is a family tradition. And yes, this is a long ride filled with children of all ages. It is fun to see the babies coming on for the first time. But it will never be to babyish for us. I will always be a rider here. Some new additions for me. I do not remember the Disney princesses and other characters featured on this ride. I know Small World has gone through a few updates and this is my first time in CA. It was fun to see them put in the landscape of their countries or traditions, that was enjoyable. The song is very infectious, something we find ourselves at home singing or playing on the piano. The line to get in is different here than in Magic Kingdom, it is more of an outside line instead of an inside line. That was interesting. I love the happy clock. A nice ride for the kids and adults but I wouldn't want to ride it more than once. There was no line for us, so we were able to walk right to the boat to enjoy the ride. It seem like a long ride but it could be that you can only listen to "It's a Small World" for a limited number of time before you're over it. There a lot of stuff to look at and of course take pictures. But out of common courtesy, remember to not take any flashes because it will distract other riders. read more

This ride is absolutely gorgeous; just look at the picture below. I think Walt outdid himself when he and his imagineers created this attraction. The exterior of this ride is one of the most beautiful attractions I have ever seen. It is simply stunning and you are bound to take the most gorgeous pictures of it without question. It is one of the most popular and iconic rides in the park (which is located in Fantasyland). It is a lovely boat ride that takes you through room after room of singing dolls of all nationalities singing the song- It's a Small World After All. This is definitely a classic. I think it had been 15 years since I've been on it but I was able to notice subtle differences between then and now. They've added Disney characters throughout the years and still have their many represented cultures within the ride. I'm not a huge fan of waiting in line for IASM because the entire line is in the sun, so I recommend getting a fast pass to get through it quicker. The fast pass location is shared with Matterhorn I believe so you have to walk over to that ride to get one. read more

For me, It's A_OK 3-Star. I think for kids/children, it's a 4-5 Star. The animatronics and appearance are well kept, along with lighting. I was amazed at the cleanliness of the attraction characters. It's a Small World after all! Small World is probably the most well known ride and song at Disneyland. When you bring your kiddos to Disneyland for the first time, this is the ride you take them on. It has been updated since my last visit. A lot of the characters are different and the countries seemed different as well. They also have a lot more Disney character easter eggs throughout. They also have a fastpass now! They did not before. The line moved super slow this pass visit but it usually moves are a decent pace. I was happy to rest my feet but the kiddos were so amazed by everything. Must ride with toddlers! read more

For it's time it was probably state of the art/cutting edge. Fun fact the inaugural version of It's a Small World premiered at the 1964 New York World's Fair before permanently moving to Disneyland. Lines can be extreme, especially on a hot day! Once you enter the ride area there is a definite dip in temperature that is quite welcome. The ride itself is very kid/family friendly with a slowly meandering boar ride that features over 300 audio-animatronic dolls in traditional costumes from cultures around the world. And don't forget that song ..... which has a theme of global peace. 2nd fun fact for one review: 'According to Time.com, the Sherman Brothers' song "It's A Small World" is the most publicly performed song of all time' For me, I'd ride if somebody else wanted to, but wouldn't search it out on my own. If you have kids and or MUST experience all of Disney you need to check it out. read more

This is a beautiful ride but nothing fancy. Thousands of dolls all dressed in costumes of tje county they represent. That song will stay in your head forever after this ride. In fact it's hard to get it out of your head. Only one problem is the maid did not vacuum the place before we got there and there was dirt on the floor of he dolls. It took away the fun of being in a fantasy world for a moment and brought me back to the world of reality. What a bummer. Suddenly hit with household chores to think of while on my vacation But other than that moment of reality, it was a relaxing and enjoyable ride. read more

In case you haven't experienced this ride yet it's a whimsical attraction that features hundreds of animatronic children dressed in their national costumes and singing a memorable song in their native languages. Look, I get that this ride is a classic and is great for young kids but I absolutely loathe this attraction. I just feel like this ride is very very outdated. But again it is a classic that has been around for years and you better believe it isn't going anywhere. You know the drill here, get in the boat and cling to your sanity while you listen to that song on repeat for 14 minutes. For Disney, this ride just feels so cheap. The Disney movie universe characters are a nice touch but other than that the characters are terrifying. These are the things nightmares are made of, all while that song drones on and on and on. By minute 5 I am wishing the boat would sink into the 2 feet of water. It's never going away and I am ok with that, and having a little kid means I have to ride it when visiting Disneyland. Do you remember the Simpsons episode where Lisa drinks the water at Duff Gardens.....I may try that next time I am on this ride and see if I become the lizard king. CHEERS!!! read more

Ok, admittedly this is not one of the most exciting rides at this park! I think a lot of us adults love coming back to go on this and reminiscing about fun childhood Disney vacations. I still love this ride in Florida, but California does it better. Having recently rode both, I felt like the Disneyland version is much more fresh and feels less decrepit. This is a great experience for young children or adults who are looking for a very mellow ride. The loading area at this ride is outdoors and I feel like the entrance is much more grand compared to FL. If you are waiting in line it's fun to watch the clocktower and everything going on there. I like that newer characters such as Lilo + Stitch have been incorporated with this ride. The WDW version does not have any of these modernizations and it feels a bit stale. My BEST experience with this ride was in December. I LOVED the holiday overlay in the ride. Everything was so bright and festive, it really got you in the Christmas mood. Be careful, you will have the theme song from this ride stuck in your head the rest of the day while you are at the park. read more

I am a former WDW CM who visited DL for the first time. I compared similar rides and found this version to be more entrtaining as it also contained Disney IP, The ride was similar and different at the same time. The logistics are a bit different since they are two different buildings. We had our grandkids with us and they were both fascinated, not knowing where to look. The ride went slowly as usual but I think the sound system is better at WDW. WDW did a refurb several years ago and adopted a few of the DL ride aspects. Overall, both location rides are very good though I have to give slight edge to DL. read more

Here's another popular Disney ride that for some reason doesn't get as much attention during the year as it does during Christmas. It's a great ride to cool off, breast feed of your little wants to, and watch all the colorful puppets. The song can be daunting after a first few minutes but it's a small price to pay for a little relaxation. My daughter got excited when she saw the Disney characters embedded in the ride (Woody, Ariel, etc). If the line is short, definitely do this ride! read more

You get into a boat with several other people and you cruise on thru the canal where the song "it's a small world after all.." plays and they sing it in different languages depending on what country you're cruising thru. "It's a small world after alllllll" This ride is pretty straightforward riding on a boat that goes about 1/2 miles per hour and looking at different cultures singing "It's a Small World". This ride is one of the more famous rides at Disneyland, being here for many years. The ride was about 30 minutes wait on a Saturday, so not bad! Outside the ride is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! The white building is something you gotta see at Disney! You first board a boat which takes you inside an air conditioned (YES!) building. It basically takes you all around the world to see the different sights. The only thing is that you sit on the boat for like 10 minutes listening to the same song over and over again. This is one of the BEST attractions at Disneyland! Why? The music is so cheerful! The colors are so vibrant! The dolls and animals are so cute! The ethnic costumes are so interesting! This is a calm ride that children of all ages enjoy! It's like touring the pleasant side of our world and seeing how it can be! My favorite "ride" in all on the world, the small world it is. No, it's not really a "ride", it's just boats that ride through sceneries based on the quirky song. As a kid, I'd experienced the Disney World It's a Small World version many times and from what I can remember the one here, in California is the same. Yes, it's old. Yes, some might think it's corny. I took my daughter here as a graduation present and she loved it just as much as me. We put on our Minnie ears and rocked it out. I hadn't been on this ride since I was a child. When I finally got the chance to take my son here a couple of weeks ago, it was a wonderfully nostalgic experience. The ride really hadn't changed much, and it seemed like we were being transported back into time! There isn't a better way to get out of the 100 degree SoCal heat than relaxing on this water-based ride. The theme song ("It's a Small World") and the cute animated dolls still remind me of my childhood visits to Disneyland with my parents. Each of the dolls represent different parts of the world with various clothing and landmarks throughout the ride. In the 30+ years since I'd been of this ride, it's nice to finally share this experience with my own family. Although there could be some updates made here, it's still one of my favorite rides in the park. Seeing this ride through the eyes of my son was a truly remarkable experience. I'm so glad Disneyland continues keep this beautiful ride running today. read more

I have always liked this ride, and without fail the song gets stuck in my head for days. In the morning on a Monday there was no line for this ride. AWESOME! One thing I dont remember here is the boats crashing so hard while you wait to get back to base to get off the ride. I remember them always hitting and nudging, but that has become a lot stronger - and a little uncomfortable. This is an adorable little toy shop located at the exit of the It's a Small World Ride in Disneyland. They carry a small inventory of Disney hats and caps, princess dolls and character toys. My daughter likes to glance at their aisles looking for their newest Disney toys that are on display. The most recent finds are their collectible dolls representing their respective countries or States from the ride. Personally the "Hawaii" and "Japan" dolls are our favorites! Some of the items can get a little pricey, but It is Disneyland. This is one of the best rides ever for kids. I love the newer design. It is a classic ride that comes second only to Pirates. A nice slow ride that is well worth the wait. If you go on an off day, you can just sit on it and take it a few times around. This is my second favorite ride to share with the little one. I am a fan. After all, it is a small world! For the type of ride style it's covering they do their job really well, I'm not a die hard fan of this ride and the only time I ride this ride is because my mother absolutely loves this ride. She has the reaction that donkey has in shrek when they activate the music Photo Booth at the castle and donkeys like can we do that again. Then I'm like shrek and It's a one time thing for me. I only do this ride when my legs don't want to walk anymore, it's blazing hot and it doesn't have a long wait time. it's also a very nostalgic ride so it's tradition to ride when I go visit. I recommend this ride for kids and people who don't enjoy thrills! but other then that the dolls are updated, they have added things, they are super fast at getting people on, it's air conditioned and the employees seem to enjoy themselves. This "small world" is a classic! It's the perfect place to relax after a lot of walking. Catch your breath and enjoy the gentle ride. I wish the countries were labeled more clearly but it is nice to see that an old favorite remains predictable and charming.... One of the oldest rides at Disneyland and it's still standing! They have remolded this a few times, but there is nothing wrong with a little fine tuning every now and then. If you don't know what this place is, well it's boat ride with singing puppets and their are variations of the characters from different points of the world. They all sing it's small world and you will hear it in many different languages. Sound boring, but interestingly enough, it's not. It's a very relaxing ride and you will feel very calm and at peace with the world while on this ride. Unless you're some kind of evil person or having a bad day, then this ride might not be for you. You'll see great animatronic work, even though these "robots" are pretty old. This is one of the reasons why Disneyland has stood the test of time. It's an amazing ride in an amazing place. But I actually really enjoyed this ride, especially after we'd been walking all day in the heat and sweat started to form in the areas of your body that you didn't know could sweat, at which point you'd just wanna sit down on a fully air conditioned, nice and relaxing ride.
