We decided to try this Greek restaurant which is located in a very cute town alongside many other restaurants and stores. Although the portions are big, which is a plus, I felt that the food was just mediocre. Roasted vegetables had grilled marks on the outside but was completely raw and cold. Under my grilled vegetables salad was disgusting, brown and old. My husband ordered gyro with salad. I've eaten here a few times through the years and it is NOT what it used to be. I ordered a Greek salad to go- drove to work which is a good 15 minutes away. Found this spot through Seamless. Service was on time, food average. The best thing I ordered was the gyro combo platter. The meat was flavorful and they gave plenty of pita. Fries were actually still crispy on arrival. The fries were really good. I ordered extra tzatziki which was a good choice since the platter doesn't come with a lot and it's also good for dipping fries. I was disappointed by the mac and cheese which was really bland. Also the veggie/tomato stew thing (briam) I ordered wasn't that great either. I had to smother them in feta and salt to taste like anything. If I order from here again, I will stick to the meats. The cute outdoor tables glass encased were what brought me to this venue. My daughter ordered the pizza from the kid's menu, took one bite and didn't even swallow it! Terrible! She then ordered hummus & didn't care for that either, it was very runny. My large Greek salad with grilled octopus came out dressed, even after asking for it to be on the side. The salad was bland at best and the grilled octopus was chewy & lacked flavor. The service was not great either. Basically spent $50 to eat pita & lettuce. Ridgewood has so many options, definitely chose another spot. read more

This is an upscale location for one of the IGTM franchise stores -- the owner (Paul) has been serving up "stick to your ribs" Greek food at this very spot for 23 years. Remarkable that any restaurant could survive that long in Ridgewood, which flips food joints like flapjacks. I suspect the fact that the restaurant owns the real estate and has some fanatically loyal employees and patrons accounts for its longevity. Paul (the owner) is well known locally for philanthropic work and some dabbling in State politics. He is also a charming and gracious host -- which made our serendipitous meal here the other night that much more terrific. The food was good too. I'm partial to pulpo -- and we ordered a large Greek salad dressed with it. The pulpo was tender -- maybe overly so -- I think it sat in marinade a bit too long resulting in a slightly mushy texture. Could have used a bit more char from the grill to balance the texture -- but the flavor was spot on. Their thickened lemon chicken soup is stellar -- plenty of orzo, chunks of chicken and veggies with crisp lemony flavor in every bite. This is Greek comfort food -- and one bowl is huge -- almost a meal for two. We couldn't finish it. Alongside the salad we stuck with appetizers -- crisply fried eggplant slices with tzatziki sauce was addictive -- a rif on potato chips and dip. The cold eggplant spread // a version of babaganoush -- surprised me with it's pronounced sweetness. I expected savory. The pita triangles and a side of Greek fries went well with spread. I picked at it all night long. It's BYO and they sell very approachable wine by the bottle. Sweetie drank a very smooth 2008 split of Barbera -- fairly priced at $18 bucks. I stuck with my Belgian ale. I've driven past this spot hundreds of times. Literally. Glad we finally stopped in -- mostly on the strength of our experience at the Clifton store -- which is one of 9 locations. Not sure whether this is a franchised store or not -- but it doesn't matter. It's local for us and the quality is there. IGTM--Ridgewood is always packed on weekends, offering sidewalk dining and a veranda style front room that is wide open to the sidewalk -- which is where we ate on a rainy evening. Both are good perches for people watching. Pricing is about market for Ridgewood -- for what is basically good Greek diner style food. The menu is big -- with lamb and fish and all sorts of specialties that you would expect at a diner in, say, Astoria Queens. And while it was a slow Tuesday night when we visited, service was impeccable and unobtrusive. Glad to finally connect here. Enough variety to suit anyone who enjoys Mediterranean food. We will return to try the Bronzino and some lamb next trip. TBC. Top Tip: Portions are huge so order accordingly -- unless leftovers are your thing. We enjoyed them for a couple days. read more

A group of 4 of us met on a Friday evening recently. We reserved one of the exterior houses for our dinner. We arrived early and surprisingly they took us right away. We didn't know they were BYOB (or we forgot) but they suggested a few local places nearby for beer and wine. Our server was funny, nice and attentive. The entire staff was sweet and helpful. Our dishes took quite some time to come out to us but the staff brought out hummus and our pitas early as we waited. I guess they could tell we were famished! They treated us very well and the exterior house was superb! It was cold out and wet and we were rather comfortable despite being outdoors. Keep in mind-although the houses are private, cool, and have heaters, you are still outside therefore coats and sweaters are still recommended as you dine. Oh to our surprise when we entered the restaurant to use the restroom, we noticed each trek inside was separated / divided by plastic curtains. Really good local greek place on the main drag in Ridgewood. Not sure what some of these other posters are reviewing/complaining about, but we've been here many times and have never had a bad meal. Came for dinner a few nights ago and ate on the heated patio. Was nice and good to be covid safe... Had the hummus and pita starter and it was delish as usual. Their hummus is very flavorful, the best. Had the gyro platter, and it is really tasty too. Also very large portions, you could easily split this, or even feed a small family. Good stuff. This place is also one of the real innovators in Ridgewood dining. They have a wine license. They were one of the first with a large amount of outside dining even before the pandemic. They were one of the first with the glass huts. And now they have their patio with heating. Way to go IGTM and keep up the innovation in Ridgewood dining! read more

The service was cold, a guy showed up without saying hi to instruct us not to put our stroller by our table which was a bit closer to entrance, but he could have asked nicely, pls there were not other tables inside. We ordered two lunch special for two adults, they were ok nothing impressive, however we ordered a rice pudding for our one year old was spoiled and I feed my baby without tasting it till my husband tried it and noticed it went bad!!!! Just tired "it's Greek To Me" for the first time after years in Ridgewood. With so many five star places to eat in Ridgewood we tend to stay away from chain type of places and like to try the one off locally owned places. What a mistake. The food was off the charts excellent. Probably the best Greek food we have tried in NJ. Everything was fresh and came out very fast. The portions were enough for two people and the appetizer sampler was good for four. I would highly recommend trying It's Greek To me if you are like us and have walked past it hundreds of times heading to Stella or Finca (both also five star) Only reason for the four stars is service was not very helpful and really slow. Did takeout here over the summer, and dined here for the first time this afternoon. They have outdoor pods set up with heaters and they seat up to 4 in each pod (I'd say they have at least 6-7 of these). So that's a safe and warm choice! Had a gyro and my bf had a lunch special. Both good! Only complaint was that the servers were slow-ish but not a dealbreaker for me. I'll go back again when I want Greek! read more

Trigger warning!! This was probably one of the worst customer service and food I've had in my lifetime. Me and my friends came in and one of my friends have a very bad gluten allergy and she had to bring in her own food because they had no gluten free options. We sat down and a guy with a red flannel came up to us making a big fuss about my friend having her own food, she felt as she was being targeted, mind you everyone at our table ordered food from there restaurant. He kept staring us down in a very threatening way, I began to tremble with fear. I felt targeted, my friend felt super uncomfortable. I recently decided to give them another try, even though I was unhappy with their restaurant many years ago, and found the staff was still rude and not welcoming at all. We got chicken skewers, veggie skewers, rice, spinach pie, pita, dip platter hummus tzatziki etc and a salad. chicken was dry and had no flavor... rice was very plain, salad had so much feta you couldn't find the lettuce. They have custom indoor/outdoor, heated seating nooks. The staff were nice and the good was tasty. Good lunch specials. I had the chicken soup and salad lunch special. The soup was a very large bow, thick soup with orzo and lemon. The Greek salad was not as big, a couple of olives, a grape leaf, fresh lettuce and feta. The gyro sandwiches looked large. I have been going to It's Greek to me for over 20 years. The food has slowly been going downhill for quite a while. The owner Paul is not around as often as he used to be and it shows in the in the lack of quality inn the food. Tonight we went for dinner and ordered a chicken gyro and the spanikopia. The food came out 5 minutes after we ordered and was obviously precooked, dry and Luke warm at best. The portion of spanikopia was smaller than it used to be. Eventually the manager walked by and asked if everything was ok, he said he noticed that they brought out the food snoozy immediately and yet didn't stop them. Been here about 4 or 5 times in the past year as well as a decade of positive history with Its Greek To Me in Fort Lee. Love the place. Incredibly good service attentive waiters.
