I knew that New York apartments tend to accumulate prior tenants' lives, grime, grease, pet hair, and layers of dust, and that landlords don't deep clean the way I would my own home. I found Patrick through his rave reviews on Yelp, and after a quick call discussing the size of my apartment and its condition, Patrick was able to book me the next day on a busy Saturday. Patrick and Alex spent 7 hours without break deep cleaning every inch of my home, including shelving, cabinets, vents, electric outlets, walls, ceilings, baseboards, and those cleaned-once-in-a-lifetime nooks and crannies. It was the kind of superb detailing work that truly takes 2 professionals the whole day, and I could have never done it on my own in even a week because I would just give up. They brought new cleaning supplies, fresh smelling non-toxic detergent, a powerful vaccum cleaner, and all the equipment needed to reach all those nooks and crannies. At the end of their job, I felt I could finally relax into my new home, and everything was sparkling and new. I get that many people have more than full schedule, but still... After getting the thorough cleaning from Maid First, I now understand the value of the cleaning service. I had 3 hours of cleaning scheduled, and I mainly wanted the bathroom and kitchen cleaned more than any other space. I didn't know what to expect, but I was excited about the cleaning service. The young female arrived about 15 minutes later than the 2-hour window of arrival due to subway delays, but she did stay and cleaned the entire 3 hours and plus. I didn't have a tight schedule on this day, so the delay was not that much of a big deal. But, I would've liked them to notify me of the delay. I was working in my home office during the cleaning, and I could hear her cleaning (quietly) the entire 3 hours, I didn't hear her taking any break at all. Before she finished up, she asked me to come and check the rooms and let her know if I wanted her to clean anything else. The apartment was very, VERY clean! Everything was shiny, you could see and touch the cleanliness of the room. Especially the dusting was phenomenal. I have a wine bar cabinet that was noticeably dusty against dark wood color. It had no dust after she was finished! She also cleaned inside and out of the microwave to sparkling clean. She even cleaned my kettle that was on the oven! She did great job cleaning bathroom and kitchen, and then moved onto the other rooms, dusting, wiping, mopping, etc., etc... She cleaned the whole apartment! I don't know how many times I said "wow" looking and touching all the sparking surfaces... She was lovely and polite, although English was not her first language, we didn't have much problem communicating. I provided with the Swiffer, duster, and toilet brush, and she brought everything else that she needs to clean with her. Whatever she needed, like a broom, she came and asked me. It was a very pleasant experience, and I totally enjoyed my super clean apartment! Thank you!

The service is so hit and miss, I would be careful booking with them. Some of the people are great…read morebut the ones that are not will make more work for you to clean up after them. I was using the service for about 2 years and it was good until the person that usually came left the service and said it's because they don't pay them well. Unfortunately everyone after that has been pretty bad. The most recent person (i) broke my oven door (she literally unscrewed it for no reason and didn't tell me she did and then couldn't get it back on so now I have to call someone to fix it and potentially buy a new door, (ii) went into my medicine cabinet to "organize" (there's nothing important in there thankfully but I never asked her to do it and no one has ever tried to do that), (iii) moved a dirty wet mop from under the sink (where she got it) into my clothing closet, and (iv) didn't actually clean the bathroom mirror, toilet, sweep the bathroom floor or vacuum the rug (yet had time to go into personal cabinets and drawers). After she broke the oven door I reached out to the Maid First and they didn't offer to help with anything. They only responded to me after I said they should still charge me the amount because I didn't want them to not pay her (given I've heard from other people who they have sent that they aren't being paid that well). I would suggest using another service that pays people well and provides more consistency.

I have used a few other cleaners in the past, and often find dust in obvious places or things left in a mess. I've used Sparkle twice now. The first time Anastasia essentially did a deep clean of my entire apartment, including the oven and fridge, and did a fantastic job. It felt like a new home! My second cleaning was recently, a few weeks after the first, and was done in about 3.5 hours, but just as good.
