I have never had a professional cleaner to come and clean my home before. I actually wondered why people would pay to clean their home... I get that many people have more than full schedule, but still... After getting the thorough cleaning from Maid First, I now understand the value of the cleaning service. I had 3 hours of cleaning scheduled, and I mainly wanted the bathroom and kitchen cleaned more than any other space. I didn't know what to expect, but I was excited about the cleaning service. The young female arrived about 15 minutes later than the 2-hour window of arrival due to subway delays, but she did stay and cleaned the entire 3 hours and plus. I didn't have a tight schedule on this day, so the delay was not that much of a big deal. But, I would've liked them to notify me of the delay. I was working in my home office during the cleaning, and I could hear her cleaning (quietly) the entire 3 hours, I didn't hear her taking any break at all. Before she finished up, she asked me to come and check the rooms and let her know if I wanted her to clean anything else. The apartment was very, VERY clean! Everything was shiny, you could see and touch the cleanliness of the room. Especially the dusting was phenomenal. I have a wine bar cabinet that was noticeably dusty against dark wood color. It had no dust after she was finished! She also cleaned inside and out of the microwave to sparkling clean. She even cleaned my kettle that was on the oven! She did great job cleaning bathroom and kitchen, and then moved onto the other rooms, dusting, wiping, mopping, etc., etc... She cleaned the whole apartment! I don't know how many times I said "wow" looking and touching all the sparking surfaces... She was lovely and polite, although English was not her first language, we didn't have much problem communicating. I provided with the Swiffer, duster, and toilet brush, and she brought everything else that she needs to clean with her. Whatever she needed, like a broom, she came and asked me. The service is so hit and miss, I would be careful booking with them. Some of the people are great but the ones that are not will make more work for you to clean up after them. I was using the service for about 2 years and it was good until the person that usually came left the service and said it's because they don't pay them well. Unfortunately everyone after that has been pretty bad. The most recent person (i) broke my oven door (she literally unscrewed it for no reason and didn't tell me she did and then couldn't get it back on so now I have to call someone to fix it and potentially buy a new door, (ii) went into my medicine cabinet to "organize" (there's nothing important in there thankfully but I never asked her to do it and no one has ever tried to do that), (iii) moved a dirty wet mop from under the sink (where she got it) into my clothing closet, and (iv) didn't actually clean the bathroom mirror, toilet, sweep the bathroom floor or vacuum the rug (yet had time to go into personal cabinets and drawers). After she broke the oven door I reached out to the Maid First and they didn't offer to help with anything. They only responded to me after I said they should still charge me the amount because I didn't want them to not pay her (given I've heard from other people who they have sent that they aren't being paid that well). i'm writing this review to warn current and/or future customers about this company. proceed with caution. company has poorly run management/customer service. they ignores customer calls/emails regarding legitimate matters. here's what happened: i had almost all makeup that i've purchased over the years in a shopping bag underneath our beverage cabinet to organize it (thousands of dollars worth). the cleaner mistook my bag of makeup, that clearly was not trash, for trash. she threw it all out. i called maidfirst. the manager or owner was dismissive of my concern. later, the cleaner messaged me and my husband, and did admit to accidentally throwing out the bag. in her message, she said that she shouldn't be held responsible since it looked like trash. (it did not look like trash - it was a bag full of makeup...) in my experience, cleaners are typically very conservative about the trash, and don't throw out items that are not in the trash bin or specifically noted... i called maidfirst to inquire about next steps, and no response. called again days later, and they either immediately declined my calls, or blocked my number. i proceeded to email them, and all emails were ignored. screenshots attached. read more

Consider me a very satisfied customer! This was my first time using Maid First so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. But Irina was very thorough and paid attention to all the nooks and crannies - when we opened the door, we were a bit blinded by how shiny all the surfaces suddenly were. Floors, mirrors, even the top of the TV got scrubbed down. I'm seriously so satisfied with the end result that I'm about to book a more regular service. All of my interactions with Kate from the front office were top-notch and professional as well. Scheduling was a total breeze. Just a note that they ask you to provide: vacuum, swiffer/mop, and a toilet bowl brush. The first two are so that the cleaners don't have to haul that stuff around on public transportation; the third is pretty self-explanatory. Besides, those are all things that I assume people would have on hand anyway. Other than that, they bring all the cleaning supplies. It took about 3 hours for a 1bedroom/1bathroom. My primary form of communication was with Kate, their front office manager who helped me through the scheduling/booking process via their website. MaidFirst services the NYC area, including Queens and Brooklyn, which was nice. Scheduling my appointment was a breeze, since everything is done via a drop down option on their online platform. I was able to choose my window of when I want the cleaning lady to arrive, and if you're flexible with arrival time you get a 5% discount. My only complaint from the booking and confirmation process is that their email confirmations could look aesthetically better. Now onto the service. I scheduled an 8am-10am arrival window and the cleaning lady arrived towards the latter part of the booked window. The girl did arrive 30 minutes late, but that is only because she was confused with all the construction in my area, and did not know how to use the intercom in my building so that I could buzz her in. I received a call from the home office manager, Manny, and from then on it was smooth sailing. As soon as she came in she started cleaning my bathroom, and then onto my kitchen (my two biggest woes). For the most part the cleaning lady did really well cleaning the general area, but she somehow ignored wiping down the floors in the bathroom and kitchen area; I ended up redoing these areas after reviewing the cleaning. For the floors she didn't utilize the dry swifter sweep first but instead went immediately to the wet sweep, which caused a lot of dust ball clumps to be found in corners, but a simple handheld vacuum remedied that. The booking was scheduled for 3 hours, but she was done in about 1.5 hours. My only feedback would be to please have your cleaning ladies take their time when cleaning a small studio apartment. The cost of the service seemed fair, but only if you book multiple appointments at once because you essentially get around $15 off per visit versus the normal $80 rate (I have a studio and this includes one bathroom). read more

Do not spend your money on this company. The first time i used them, the maid left for the day and did not shut my door!!! The company asked me to allow them to make it right. Ive booked 6 additional cleanings and the last 2 have been horrible. In fact yesterday the maid shut herself in a bathroom for 50 minutes and when she came out it wasnt even clean! She was watching video on her phone the entire time. And, she left a horseshoe shaped stain on my couch! (See photo) Horrible. So my family is moving between Upstate and NYC and my cousin had the crazy idea to Yelp nearby cleaners - it is New York. We hired a maid service to clean after we cleared out an entire apartment of junk to stage it for sale. Being Caribbean, my aunt is a pack rat. It was one thing to pull out, sort and go through dozens and dozens of boxes, tubs and air-tight sealed bags. After hauling out the big stuff there was nothing left but trash, dust, debris and a myriad of cat hair floating off of corners: things I had little to no energy to clean. Maid First came and did the bedroom, kitchen, bathrooms and even the staircase leading into the condo. The kitchen windows are pretty high and are spotless now. We didn't even think to ask the maid to do those! Well it was my first time resorting to a housecleaning service but you know what, the price was pretty diggity reasonable! The wood glistened, the doorknobs.... the DOORKNOBS we're relecting! Ha! The closets were dust free and smelled like fresh light pine and lilacs! I have a two bedroom apartment but only got cleaning for the living room, kitchen, bathroom, and one bedroom. They typically allow for 2 hours for this setup. I left the cleaner alone in my apartment and headed to the coffee shop across the street. I came back just about 10 minutes prior to the ending of the cleaning. I walked into a fresh and clean apartment, and my bathroom looks spectacular BECAUSE Lord knows it was a mess. The cleaning was great, but the customer service is HORRIBLE! We have been an ongoing client, and we simply needed to change the time/schedule of our upcoming cleanings going forward. We tried changing it via their online scheduler, but the maids still arrived at the old, incorrect times. We then called their office to speak to someone about simply changing the time from a 2pm start time to an 11am start time, and the receptionist kept us from speaking to anyone, saying that she can't do anything, but that someone would call us back. SHE NEVER TOOK OUR NAME OR NUMBER...LOL!?!?! We called back the next day and asked to speak to the booking manager and then this all-star receptionist just kept deflecting, and then proceeded to tell us that they are not interested in whatever we have to say, even though we tried explaining that all we wanted to do was change our appointment times. She then said there is nothing she can do AND HUNG UP ON US!!!! All we wanted to do was change the time of our cleanings from 2pm to 11am for future cleanings!!! WTF?!?!?!?! We are going to cancel our Maid First account and find another cleaning service. I've had bad experiences with NYC cleaning services in the past and was on the hunt for one that actually gets the job done for the amount of money I'm paying. Our old, usually grimy bathroom has NEVER looked so immaculate, and she even unclogged our drains. All of our rugs appear brand new (how?!) and there wasn't a speckle of dust on a single surface. My roommate and I were both blown away. I swear I feel like some of the maids I've used in the past literally sit in my apartment without lifting a finger. I hired them to do a deep cleaning at my grandmother house while visiting NY. They did a marvelous work and it didn't cost me a fortune. The house wasn't cleaner in a very long time so there was ton of work waiting for them. The cleaning team was very through and worked extremely fast. I was happy that I hired them. There was no way I could of cleaned my home that well. The office contacted me few hours after I have placed an order on their website. Confirmed the cleaning however had to reschedule for a different time slot. I didn't mind the change. The cleaners arrived on time, were polite and friendly. First of all, let me mention my wife is a neat freak. She cleaned right up to the day she gave birth to our baby boy. (I think that's what sent her into labor) That didn't last long. And yes I'm a mess but this time it wasn't my fault. Her mom flew in from AZ to help with the baby and because everyone kept coming to visit mainly her mom and the baby, the house turned into a shambles. She kept complaining about how dirty the floors were and how everything was driving her crazy and how she didn't have time because of the baby. The SUPER husband that I am (no I did not do the cleaning, but I did do the research) I saw this maid service on Yelp and decided to try it out. I called them and scheduled someone to come in the same week. My wife was very nervous to have someone clean our place as she has never hired a cleaning service before. But upon my arrival home the house had a fresh scent, and my wife had a smile on her face (most important). She seemed very happy and told me that I made a good choice. All I know is that my bath tub was sparkling white. We haven't called this cleaning service again yet because my wife thank god has more time to do things since the baby is getting bigger. Other cleaning services I have used were more difficult on this front, and it made coordination unnecessarily difficult. This was a nice change of pace. I emphasized the need for attention to the bathrooms and kitchen. They outlined their approach and were great about specifics and checking with me (twice) as to my level of satisfaction with their work along the way.
