Delicious Hawaiian style poke just a few steps away from the beach! The line is usually long but moves fairly quickly. Inside you can also buy some goods from Hawaii (such as gummy candy, chocolate macadamias, ice cream and sodas) The menu is very straightforward. You can buy poke by the pound or have it in a plate or bowl. They also offer kalua pig, chicken longrice and spam musubi. For sides you can choose from rice, edamame and mac salad. The mac salad is a little unusual/unique as it is made from tiny broken pieces of angel hair pasta rather than the typical macaroni.
Cannot compare with Hawai'i but not bad for mainland poke. Had a variety of poke flavors from spicy ahi, spicy crawfish, furikake salmon, and wasabi ahi but honestly was okay-- needed more flavor BUT the one that caught me by surprise was the furikake salmon sooo good. The line can get long although it does go by pretty fast. No seating inside, but you're able to take your food over to the beach and eat nearby. Overall pretty good for "mainland poke"
This place is SO worth the hype!! You can really taste how fresh the fish is. I got the spicy salmon and wasabi tuna, and both were sooo good. The spicy salmon portion was super generous, although I do wish they gave a little more tuna. The macaroni salad was also delicious and honestly a must-get on the side. Only downside was the service. The girl who took my order wasn't very friendly and kinda seemed annoyed the whole time lol. But honestly, the food was good enough that I'd still come back :') Also heads up, not a spot where you can dine in. You have to take it to to-go, and there aren't public seating/tables in the area.
Every time my husband and I walk past this place they have a huge line out the door or they are closed. Yesterday was the first time we saw was open with no line so you were so excited to finally try this place. And wow! I definitely understand why there's always a line out the door. The quality of okay you got at this place is I'm compared to any other local poke shop. Truly quality and so well marinated in unique combinations. They don't have a ton of seating inside so we took our Pokey to eat on the boardwalk at the End of the Street. My husband ordered the Poke and pork combo and I just got a single serving of Poke and the nigiri.
It's Raw Poke Shop is garnering a lot of hype and attention for their authentic Hawaiian poke. This spot is located in the Ocean Beach community where there is street parking all around. The storefront is small with no seating so be prepared. There is usually always a line as well and this time wifey and I waited about 30 minutes. We got the Combo Plate that comes with poke of your choice, rice, and mac salad. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. There is a reason why this spot has over 1,000+ positive reviews!
Line was still long at 4:40 PM (they close at 5). I got the Kalua + poke combo, thinking it's a good deal for only $4 extra but turned out you got less than half lb of poke compared to the $18 regular poke plate w/ half lb poke. Also, if you don't care for the rice or their angel-hair mac salad (which was weird), just buy the poke by the pound--it's way better value, especially for salmon ($26.99/lb) vs. ahi/tako ($29.95/lb). You're basically paying $5 extra for the rice/Mac if you order the cheaper salmon poke. The Kalua pork was great and plentiful, but the shoyu ahi was just ok and the kimchi ahi lacked umami (more like straight gochugaru). Maybe I should try the furikake salmon and spicy ahi next time.
It's Raw Poke Shop was so BOMBBBB!! It tasted extra delicious since we ate it at the beach. Pretty sure it's family-owned, which made me love it even more! It was just a small shop where you order & go! The salmon & tuna were super fresh + flavorful... no fishy taste at all. Around $18 a plate, I thought it was pretty reasonable for poke these days. And the macaroni salad?! So unique & delish. It was made with thin angel hair noodles instead of traditional macaroni, paired perfectly with the poke. Portions were just right. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in SD!
We waited an hour in line to eat from here and, sadly, they were out of multiple things by the time we got in and it was our turn to order. We still ended up getting multiple different kinds of poke to try. My guy and I both agreed the poke was good and the quality was fresh, but it really wasn't anything special. I also thought the sauce to fish ratio was off (too much sauce); my guy agreed but doesn't mind it as much as I do. I don't know what it is, but it is just missing that special something to truly make it special poke. I'd eat it again if I was there, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Also, they're a takeout spot, so we chose to eat at the beach. Okay, so the food breakdown. I had the Poke Plate, and my companion got the Kalua Pig Plate Lunch. For my poke, I chose Shoyu Ahi and Spicy Salmon. Anytime I get poke, I feel like you gotta have a baseline--shoyu ahi being mine. It was good, but the cuts and texture of the ahi weren't consistent. It was still tasty, and I appreciate how you could add as much or as little shoyu as you want, but I wish there were a bit more flavor. The spicy salmon was good! Creamy, spicy, and tasty. The fish was fresh, but I do feel like they could've given a bit more. I had a bite of my companion's plate, and the Kalua Pig was so salty that it was a bit overpowering. The portion was very generous, but some pieces were dry. The mac salad was good, a different pasta shape I'm used to, and the rice was hard. So overall, it was good but not worth the wait. If you are a poke lover, either visiting or living in San Diego, It's Raw Poke Shop is good mainland poke! Although the map says Newport Ave., their location is off Bacon Street. Parking is limited and hard to find in Ocean Beach, so plan accordingly.
there's a wait every time I come here, but I can understand why. the fish is so fresh and some even melt in your mouth. they are constantly refilling their poke so I've never experienced a shortage of flavors to choose from. what makes it's raw unique is that they offer spicy crawfish tails, PRE PEELED HALLELUJAH their mac salad is also made with an unconventional pasta shape but it totally works. caution: finding parking can be rough since they only offer street parking and it gets pretty busy on the weekends. the place itself is small with a takeout only structure, but it's located steps away from the beach and great to enjoy there.

Since rice is such a big part of the dish, it definitely brought the overall quality down. I also tried the kimchi ahi because it sounded really good, but it honestly didn't taste as good as I expected. It wasn't terrible, but I was expecting a lot more flavor. The spicy ahi, on the other hand, tasted great and was easily the best part of my meal. I also added the mac salad on top, and I'm not even exaggerating when I say it was basically just noodles . I was expecting an actual creamy, flavorful mac salad, but maybe they got my order wrong. Unfortunately, the customer service made the experience even worse. The cashier who helped me was extremely rude and unwelcoming. I attached a photo for context because the attitude was honestly noticeable throughout the entire interaction. I felt like I was being mean mugged like crazy just for ordering, and the whole interaction made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I understand everyone can have a bad day, and I don't expect employees to be overly cheerful, but basic friendliness and respectful customer service should still be expected. Between the weird rice texture, disappointing kimchi ahi, mac salad that was basically just noodles , and especially the poor customer service, I left pretty disappointed. The spicy ahi was genuinely really good, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the experience.
One of my most favorite poke shop in all of San Diego! Parking is a little hard to find and standing in the heat with no shade is a little brutal but the food is definitely worth it! I really liked the salmon furikake but their Mac salad was just ok. Pretty fast service once you order!
I haven't been back to this poke spot in a few years, and I remember my first visit not being that impressed. I'm glad I gave it another try because it was actually really good this time around! They offer the option of choosing either 1 or 2 poke flavors for your plate, and you can add a mac salad for an extra charge. Their mac salad is a little different from the traditional version because they use thin pasta instead of the usual macaroni noodles. They also give you a tiny furikake on the side, which you can add to your poke and rice. They have quite a few different flavor options to choose from, including shoyu, wasabi, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon. They also have spam musubi and lomi salmon, which was $3. The lomi salmon was really good but it only came with 3 small pieces of salmon in the tiny sauce container but definitely one of the best lomi salmon I had on mainland. My boyfriend and I shared a plate with the spicy tuna and spicy salmon. Both were really good, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them this time around. That being said, our favorite poke spot is still another place in San Diego because their spicy tuna and spicy salmon have even more flavor. We definitely want to come back and try their ahi shoyu and wasabi flavors next time. One thing we wished they offered was a 3-flavor plate option. Since we drove pretty far to come try this place, we wanted to sample more of their flavors, especially since they have so many options on the day we went they weren't offering samples. Being able to choose three would have been perfect for us! A bonus is that they have a fridge stocked with a ton of different Hawaiian canned drink options. There were so many choices that both my boyfriend and I were able to grab a drink we liked, which was a nice touch. Service could have been a little better. The lady working the cashier yesterday came across as kind of rude, and we got the impression that she didn't really want to help us. It wasn't the most welcoming interaction, especially since it was our first time back in a few years. I also wish they had longer hours. Closing at 5 PM on a weekday makes it pretty much impossible for us to come by after work since we don't finish until after 5. Having even a couple extra hours would make it much easier for people who work regular weekday hours to stop by. One of the biggest perks of this spot is the location. If you're around the Oceanside area, there's a beach less than a 5-minute walk away, so you can easily take your poke to the beach and eat it there. There's also plenty of free street parking nearby, and a famous San Diego ice cream shop is just a few doors down, making this a fun little food stop. The biggest downside for us is that everything is takeout only. They don't have counter seating, which I completely understand because the shop is very small and they seem to constantly have lines. But it can definitely be inconvenient if you live farther away. Your options are basically eating in your car, taking it home, or going to the beach. Yesterday happened to be extremely hot around 100 degrees so eating outside at the beach or sitting in the car wasn't exactly ideal. We also live too far to take back home with us. Overall, I'm really happy I gave this place another chance. The poke was much better than I remembered, and I'd definitely come back to try some of their other flavors. It's worth checking out if you're in the Oceanside area, especially if you're looking for poke you can grab and take down to the beach!
Every time we're at OB I mean to stop at It's Raw Poke but the line is always insanely long and for good reason! I made it a point to get there around opening and there was already quite a few waiting. This is an order and go spot. The service was so welcoming, friendly and quick. I ordered furikake ahi and spicy salmon which comes with rice and Mac salad. Their Mac salad is not traditional elbow noodles but almost like chopped spaghetti noodles. It's fabulous! Everything is fresh and full of flavor. I'll definitely be back to grab a plate next time I'm in town! Can't wait. read more
So good and fresh! The fish are all marinated so well. My absolute favorite was the furikake ahi-that tuna was so soft and buttery! The flavor was just amazing. I also like how you can substitute the side of rice for mac salad or get one scoop of each. I personally think the price is fair for the quality and quantity that you get. Yes, there is a bit of a line. But it was honestly so worth it! I waited around 30 mins on a Sunday at 1pm. The staff was also so nice and helpful. Gosh where do I begin. Hands down the BEST poke outside of Hawaii. I'm a ride or die for spicy ahi so this review mainly covers that. I'm sure their other flavors also slap but I'm a spicy ahi girly. Yes the lines are long. Especially during lunch rush. The most I've waiting has been close to an hour on a Saturday. During the week sometimes there's no wait at all. The poke is seriously so damn good. The ahi is buttery, smooth, melts in your mouth. So much flavor and no fishiness whatsoever. The rice topped with the furikake seasoning they give you is chefs kiss. And their middle Mac salad is so creamy and compliments the ahi so well. I think it's a good thing I'm 3 hours away or else I'd be there multiple times a week. read more

Hands down the best poke in San Diego. Literally melts in your mouth! Always a line but it goes by quickly. Super friendly people in there too. Definitely the place to get a bowl of poke and eat it by the beach! Can't beat it read more

was in town for the weekend and our group wanted to try It's Raw which was highly recommended from other friends. we waited in line for about 40 min on a Sunday afternoon around 11. for the amount of time we waited, i cant say it was super worth it. the amount of poke was disappointing and the mac salad (although their special) was a bit bland. however the fish was pretty fresh and it satisfied the poke craving. we got the kalua pig plate + poke plates, and 3-4 more poke plates to share. the kalua pig was decent and my favorite poke order was probably the furikake salmon. they also gave extra furikake containers with our order which i liked. but tip from a local we received after waiting in line: call in your order instead so you can skip the line! if we didnt have to wait as long, i would probably have found it a bit more worth it. the service was great tho, if coming back, i would definitely call instead of waiting in line. read more

Thanks to yelpers I decided to try this poke spot! The poke was so fresh! It's a tiny spot in OB so expect a small line as they are very good and have no seating inside. It's basically to go only. It's also only 5 minutes from the beach. I got the spicy ahi tuna and the wasabi ahi tuna which I loved. For sides I got rice, cucumbers, and macaroni salad. And because I like trying a little of everything I indulged in some edamames and spam musubi. I will definitely make a point to visit more often! read more
Came on a Friday afternoon, and there was a line already formed. We waited about 40 minutes but the line moves fairly quickly. They were super quick with the service. There's a discount if you pay cash All the poke options looked so fabulous and fresh it was hard to choose. I got a poke plate with rice and edamame. I came here on a weekday a few minutes after it opened so I didn't have to wait. I got a poke plate with spicy ahi and furikake ahi. It comes with 2 scoops of rice but I substituted one of them for mac salad. Everything was so delicious and fresh. I wanna come back and try some other poke as well as the kalua pork and chicken long rice. read more

I came all the way with some friends from LA to try this place out and our experience left more to be desired. We all ordered a plate with came with 2 proteins and 2 sides for $18. For my proteins, I got the spicy salmon and the furikake ahi and both of them were pretty good. I liked how creamy the spicy salmon was and I liked the flavor of the furikake ahi. However, the scoops of fish weren't as big as I hoped. I tried my friend's spicy ahi and I liked that one the best. Despite the poke being good, they weren't good enough to carry the experience. The sides were pretty disappointing. The white rice was on the harder side and wasn't soft and sticky like sushi rice. The mac salad was made with chopped up angel hair pasta which I found weird. It also wasn't creamy and flavorful as I hoped. I did like the little coconut jelly piece though, it was a nice and small dessert palate cleanser especially since the poke had a fishy aftertaste. The area was crowded since it was next to the beach and the paid parking nearby was $25 for a minimum of 2 hours. Unless you're planning on doing other things in the area, it's not worth paying for parking just to get poke that's cheaper than the parking. The line was long but it felt longer since the staff took a long time to prepare each order. I would plan to wait up to an hour in line on weekends. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to try this place again and would opt for other poke options in the area. read more
One of the closest poke spots to Hawaiian poke in terms of quality and flavor. Most of the poke on the mainland are heavily reliant on toppings, so it's refreshing to find a place that serves it similarly to Hawaii and emphasizes on enhancing the flavor of the fish instead. There was a bit of a queue around lunchtime, but the store is rather small and the line moves pretty quick. My group ordered a bunch of poke to share. A plate has two portions of poke and sides (rice/mac/edamame), while a bowl has one portion each of poke and sides. A bowl is more than enough to satiate me, but if you like options then a plate is the way to go. My favorite was probably the spicy salmon and shoyu tuna. Wasabi tuna was solid too, but wished the wasabi flavor was a smidge stronger. The edamame as a side was a crowd pleaser amongst my group. Mac was interesting, because it was really angel hair pasta and I'm not so much an angel hair person LOL (it's a texture thing); otherwise the flavor is pretty good. 10% discount if you pay in cash. read more

It's Raw Poke has been on my list of poke spots to go to for so long!! I'm glad I finally got to try it out since their poke was so darn delicious. Side note, they aren't open on Mondays. I've seen people wait an hour for their poke, but luckily, I waited no more than 15 minutes and the line moved fast. Their poke selection had me salivating while in line. I always get poke a la carte rather than a poke bowl/plate, so I got a pound of spicy crawfish tails and a pound of furikake ahi. And I'd do it again!! Both of these tasted so amazing. They also included a little mochi to dip in furikake. Honestly, I think I'm gonna get a pound of poke for myself every time I come in. read more
Poke on the Beach always makes me feel like I'm right back in Hawaii. It's Raw Poke is the closest I've found to traditional Hawaiian‑style poke in San Diego. It's a small, take‑out‑only spot right in the heart of OB. They also offer Hawaiian drinks and pastries to go, which is a fun touch. The poke is definitely on the pricier side and the portions run a little small, but the quality keeps me coming back. My favorite thing to do is grab a plate (2 pokes and 2 sides) and take it to Sunset Cliffs -- trust me, it's the perfect combo. Just a heads‑up: there's usually a long line, and their hours are limited. They also close unexpectedly sometimes, so it's worth checking their hours and social media before you go. We came here 5 mins after this place opened and there was already a decent line - we had to wait about 20 mins to get inside but it is definitely worth the hype! Grabbing a poke bowl and walking to the beach 5 mins down was a great plan! We tried a few of the flavors for poke just because it was our first time and each of them tasted super fresh and flavorful! Would love to come here again to try more of the flavors read more

The best poke in San Diego as I will always keep going back! Fish quality here is outstanding & the flavors are all so delicious. This poke shop worth the wait. * Furikake Salmon - 9.6/10 (the salmon is so fresh & buttery. the seasoning is sweet, addictive, & perfect with the furikake rice. they do not skimp out on the size of the pieces either) * Chili Garlic Ahi - 9.4/10 (the ahi here is the most fresh ahi you can find in SD. the fish had a nice chew to it & the color of the ahi is nice. the chili garlic flavor is seasoned well, but i wish it was slightly spicer. nonetheless, their ahi is the closest to island ahi as you can get) * Spicy Salmon - 9/10 (the mayo flavor is not too heavy, but i wish it was spicer. the salmon, yet again, is very fresh & buttery) * Cucumber Kimchi - 7/10 (it just tastes like cucumber that is sitting in kimchi juice. the crunch of the cucumber is nice, but i would skip on this one) read more

I was super excited to be in the OB area bc it's a no-brainer to stop by It's Raw! We came on a Saturday around 2pm. Short line outside, inside was *very* packed. It must've been a rush bc when we walked by an hour later, there was so line at all. Although we always LOVE their poke, this last visit was good but not great. Our usuals: kimchi ahi & spicy salmon -- something was off. Not sure if it didn't marinate well enough. We tried their new chili garlic ahi and that was one fireeeeee! I regret only getting a quarter pound. The Mac salad was also a bit too oily today. It's okay though because we'll still be back next time! read more
I was so excited to try out this poke shop after seeing feedmeimei rave about it in a recent vlog. I love Hawaiian style poke, but it's surprisingly hard to find! We went around new years and there was a bit of a line out the door. The wait wasn't too bad, even though it was raining out. They have a bunch of different flavors of poke, and my indecisive self had such a hard time choosing!! I ended up going with the spicy salmon and spicy tuna (since the bf got shoyu tuna and wasabi tuna so I could also try those hehe girl math right). We also got an extra quarter pound of the furikake tuna. My faves were def the spicy salmon and spicy tuna. Both were soft and flavorful. The wasabi tuna didn't have much wasabi flavor in my opinion. The furikake one was a bit sweeter than I like - I'm def a savory girlie. I do wish we had gotten two scoops of rice each instead of rice and Mac salad. The Mac salad was just ok, kind of bland. And there ended up not being enough rice to pair with the fish. Overall, not bad, but also not as amazing as I was expecting. Awesome poke stop in san diego! They have plates (2 scoops of poke + 2 sides) or bowls (1 scoop + 1 side) which were the perfect options for my partner and I since I was less hungry. I got a bowl with spicy salmon poke + mac salad. My partner got a plate with furikake salmon and spicy ahi. All poke flavors were delicious! I wish the mac salad was more flavorful though. They gave complimentary furikake and coconut jelly, which was super nice. The furikake on top of the mac salad was a great combo. The workers were also super friendly and the ordering process was very efficient -- you get your food within minutes. There was a decent line out the door but it moved very fast. There also isn't any seating inside -- we took it to ocean beach just a few blocks away to eat and it was a great vibe. read more

it's raw is actually hecka yummy it's such a shame the plate is so light because i genuinely needed more fish i got the wasabi ahi and the spicy salmon plate with one scoop of rice and one mac salad. i also really liked the mac salad because the noodles were super thin and shredded compared to the usual kind i've had before also the furikake was SO fricken good because i swear they added sugar into it or something... wow i've literally been craving it ever since a bowl is around $9 for one scoop of fish, and a plate is around $18 for two scoops. the place itself is really tiny inside though, so if you're coming with a group, try not to crowd the space too much lol they also have daily specials that i really want to try next time i come back, plus butter mochi, noms, and other hawaiian snacks on the side that you can buy too overall i'd say like an 8/10 for me! i just wish the portions were a little bigger oops read more

Turned on to poke about six years ago and I've tried every place in San Diego. By far this is the best.

I went this past weekend and they closed early because everything was sold out. What time do you normally sell out on weekends so I know for next time?
It really depends on the day! I haven't had issues with them selling out and have been there as late as 4:30pm on Friday, I'd say weekends it's safer to go earlier
Do they have gluten free sauces/options?
Yes, but on the side, not listed on the sheet. All sauces are by the fountain machine.
