We have lived in Southern California for about two years now so I'm surprised that it took us so long to try this place out. As you can see in the picture provided food was in abundance... no notes 10 out of 10.

You know sometimes with highly rated up and coming Asian restaurants, I get a little skeptical of the authenticity of the dishes. Like for me, there's a prime difference in expectations with Din Tai Fung and Kei Concept restaurants vs your typical mom and pop business. Yet as someone who has had soondobu throughout the years, of all different variations, I can say that this one of my most favorites that I've tasted. And I could already tell from the moment I entered. Although the establishment looks modern, it has a traditional feel, with wooden tables, flat chopsticks, and the friendly but bustling Korean auntie waitresses who eagerly refilled the banchan at our table. The soondobu came out pipping high and I had to wait a little so I didn't burn my mouth. But with the first bites, I experienced a warm, comforting flavor with its deeply rich broth and silken tofu. Pair this meal with the marinated fish cake, fried fish, and japchae noodles and you have absolute perfection. I'll be returning soon for another meal~ (And yes that definitely beats BCD in terms of taste, cost, and wait time.)

I came to try new item today (Jokbal salad) as well as get the fried yellow croaker and bibimbab. The Jokbal salad was refreshing and delicious, while I love the crunch and slight burned rice of the stone pot bibimbab. They were all so good! Staff were busy and attentive. The ambiance is casual and comfortable. Come early evening before the long line starts.

There was no wait and we were seated right away Monday evening. It did take a while for the food to come out though. I got the beef tofu soup and it was very savory. I like that they give you a lot of beef and tofu. I got mild which wasn't too spicy for me at all and still had a kick. The sides were also good. I liked the tteokbokki that came with the fish cakes. The staff was also very attentive and would ask if we needed anything.

Rating: 9/10 Third time trying It's Tofu this is officially my go-to now. Better than BCD. Banchan was all very fresh and well-prepared. The fried fish is great. Hot, crispy skin with flaky meat. LA galbi was solid, good flavor and portion. The pork tofu soup (ordered spicy) had a real kick. I usually go medium, but spicy was still enjoyable. Broth was rich and satisfying. Overall, super consistent across visits. Quality, fresh, and great service.

This is the spot for casual comfort Korean food with sundubu as the main dish and a variety of combination options to choose from. Highly recommend the stone pot bibimbap or the cold noodle. Best part is after multiple visits trying different dishes, the food is consistently delicious and staff always gives great service. The restaurant seating is limited and can get busy on weekend during meal times so best to get on Yelp waitlist on your way there

I like It's Tofu better than BCD, haha. In my opinion, the best flavor is the Crab Miso soondubu. The inside is really clean, service is really fast, and the banchan selection is great and they come in generous portions. While it is a bit pricier than other places, it's worth it just for the Crab Miso.

Great food for respectable prices. About 20 minutes to get a table on a Saturday night. Ordered numbers 34 and 35, combos for around $30 each that can feed 4 people. Tofu soup came out in 5 min and meat in 15. Tofu soup had a great flavor, though the spice levels are not that severe, as I believe most teenagers+ could handle medium at least. Banchan were nothing special, though the meat was incredible, and it came with a good amount too. It was juicy and had great meaty flavor. Only complaint is metal chopsticks, I hate them. I've been to this establishment 4 times now. Food is incredibly tasty, banchan selection is diverse, tables/booths are clean, and the location is great. I also love that they have a filling kid's meal at a great value. However, tonight, I brought family members and was embarrassed by the service we received. We were promptly notified that an 18% charge would be added to our bill for our party of 8. That was no surprise but we expected the staff to be somewhat attentive to our table. No one ever checked on our table, refilled water, offered banchan, nor offered extra napkins (we have 2 young kids and also spilled a cup of water). When my family (gluten-allergic) asked what type of flour was used on the fried fish, the manager was brought out along with 2 servers and they were not confident in knowing their ingredients. My brother-in-law commented that the servers seemed angry and greatly inconvenienced by having to serve us. When another table was seated across from us, 3 servers rushed over to attend to their party at the same time. I love the food, but tonight's experience makes me reluctant to wholeheartedly recommend It's Tofu. read more

I told her i'd wait, but now i'm feeling bad and don't know if she even cares to earn my business. It's my 5th time coming here, and unfortunately this place was one of my favorite Korean restaurants and since I'm from out of town I make sure to visit each time I am in the OC. I'm not sure if I want to continue coming back here if service remains this way. It's embarrassing enough to come alone, it's even worse when you're called out in front of people inside of the restaurant while there are only 3 people waiting outside. When I got seated she didn't even give me a menu and asked me what I wanted. Lucky for her i'm Korean and was already a repeat customer from the early days so I was able to order right away-otherwise how could I order? God forbid I ask for any recommendations on the menu... 1 star well deserved for this. Congratulations this is the first time I rated a fellow Korean restaurant 1 star. Although, I came here during a slow night. Ambiance: Classic shabu vibe. A bunch of tables for 8s that have an option to be split between parties if needed. The buffet area is in the center of everything, and there's a good amount of space between tables and within the buffet section.

It's located near Zion Market (towards the right side)... The LA Beef Short Rib was so good! I love that... The combo is a better value - each dish is too expensive by itself - even though it might be smaller portion than ordering it by itself; I still think it had a decent amount. I ordered the #34 Combo of the Short Rib + Tofu Soup (Seafood) $33.95. If you order the beef by itself, though, it's $33.95! The soup was good too. #32 Spicy Buckwheat Noodle $18.95 I liked how super cold chilled the noodles were. It's refreshing with a little kick. #27 Bulgogi Stone Pot Bibimbop $21.95 I should NOT have ordered this one. The bibimbop was honestly whatever and not worth that price. The service wasn't that great, though. They never checked on our table. The banchan (side dishes) were just okay. Not all side dishes are refillable. You have to order one order per person to refill side dishes (so if you have 4 people, you need to order at least 4 dishes). Personally, we shouldn't have forced ourselves to order another plate to get the refill. I can see why this place gets busy/popular, though. I wish the prices were more reasonable for each dish though, so the combo makes it more in the regular price range/per dish. read more

The booths are particularly noteworthy, and the service provided is commendable. The culinary offerings are truly delectable, with the side dishes standing out as some of the finest in Irvine. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment for an exceptional dining experience. In comparison to BCD Tofu, this restaurant stands out as superior in terms of flavor and overall quality. While BCD Tofu may offer lower prices, the blandness of their food and the excessive wait times detract from the dining experience. I personally ceased frequenting the BCD Tofu at Diamond Jamboree several years ago due to the inability to finish the provided portions. I was disappointed with my experience at this Its Tofu restaurant. The service was slow, and we sat for 10 minutes until I have to grab the server to order. The short ribs and pork belly were much sweeter than what I'm used to at BCD. The side dishes were just okay, but BCD's are definitely better. Despite the menu stating there's one refill per minimum order, they didn't allow any refills. The tofu soup was alright but I like the flavor and quality of BCD's tofu soup more. Prices here are also $1-$3 more expensive than BCD. I came here to avoid the wait at BCD, but now I realize the wait is worth it. Even though BCD is super busy, they always provide excellent service. Honestly, I'm not sure about the hype around this restaurant or why it has so many five-star reviews. It felt pretty average, nothing special at all. read more
