My favorite Japanese food in the area, friendly staff, price isn't too bad if you takeout or dine-in, and it's pretty tasty. I recommend the classic ramen, the buns, the chicken katsu. The shumai and dumplings are alright, too. Be sure to get additions for the ramen, cause those eggs are so good, so's the rest. My only gripe is the chicken katsu doesn't come with rice or sauce, but I don't really think it needs it, I just personally like the rice to get a little saucy. It's fine, really. read more

Ordered the seafood ramen which was a huge disappointment with only two shrimp, a half of a shredded crab leg, and some sliced up fish cake. The broth was tasty and the Ramen was fine, but I felt ripped off. This would've been fine I guess if it was just a lunch special but it was my dinner. The seating is quite tight, which I knew before we went in, but the lady at the next table was so loudly complaining about her co-workers that I couldn't wait to get out of there. On an upside, the waitress was sweet and responsive. I noticed several people were getting takeout and I wish I knew what they were ordering as I was so disappointed with my choice. A half dozen takeout bags were lined up for pickup, yet despite the rush our order was taken promptly and dinner arrived just as quickly. The Chashu Don came as a generous bowl of warm rice topped with chopped pork in a sweet sauce. A touch on the sweet side, but flavorful and plentiful. Mrs. K. chose the vegetable ramen, which we both enjoyed. The broth was rich and satisfying, paired with gluten-free noodles and plenty of toppings. The house tofu was a bit unusual, but overall the dish was excellent. Service understandably lagged in the busy atmosphere. Cute ramen place with a lot of smaller Japanese dishes to try. We ordered the spicy ramen, miso ramen, and the deluxe. We also had the Takiyaki (octopus). The serving size was large and the price was similar to what we would pay in Chicago suburbs. I enjoued the miso ramen broth as well, there was a fair amount of noodles in them. This place definitely gave my husband food poisoning from the pork in the miso ramen (and we know for a fact it was here). I would give two stars only because the pork buns were good and had lots of meat, but everything else other than that made this place a disappointment so only one star is deserved. The waitress didn't acknowledge us for the majority of our visit and was dismissive and short with us when we ordered. She came around after our food was served and I asked her for some extra napkins, she handed me one single napkin and walked away... it could have been a miscommunication but I still can't say I recommend this place after spending almost $50 on two ramen bowls and the order of buns. Place is a bit spendy, service can be a bit slow -- but hey, every eatery in the Asheville/Mills River area seems desperately short on staff anymore - so slow service just means they are a good, busy place, and the staff are hussling. Well, that or they just suck. This place is the former. To that end, the service was very good -- they tolerated my thousand-year-old mother-in-law who is deaf, blind, and has always been quite off-her-rocker crazy, but still insisted on using (or rather, trying, then losing) chopsticks. It was dark humor funny, but kind of sad, seeing how old she is. But hey, she had fun and got out of the old folks' home for an hour or so. Anyway, the sashimi is excellent. Very nice & well laid out Ramen Bar with a wide selection of options & a full sake bar. Wife & I were staying nearby with a family member for the night en route to the coast & after s 5 & half hour drive from Tennessee with two bigger dogs we were not interested in heading downtown or anywhere far for dinner. I saw this ramen spot online & since we love ramen we came here. First impressions were that the outside of the place looks awesome compared to the simple & boring retail around it. Inside has tons of seating & is aesthetically appealing with its design. Menu has plenty of interesting options. I already knew I wanted the itto buns from the Yelp reviews so we started with that & the edamame (wife's choice) itto buns were superb. The buns were cooked perfectly not too rubbery & not too soft, filling was super refreshing with the thick cut cucumber, delish fried chashu pork, arugula & some miso sauce that I need on everything now. Edamame was alright the sauce was too salty for my liking though. The black garlic deluxe ramen was excellent as well. Lots of thick chashu, nice robust broth, bouncy noods, & the delicious as always eggs marinated eggs. Will definitely recommend this place to friends visiting as it's some of the best ramen I've had since visiting Tokyo. read more

My favorite ramen spot! Unfortunately it is in another state. Every time I visit NC I always stop by itto. I've had so many bowls of ramen in LA & Orange County. (Known to have some of the best ramen spots) This place is by far the best. Last time I visited NC I drove an hour, two days in a row just to eat here. Its seriously that good and authentic. Would not have expected to find a bowl of ramen this good in NC. Itto spicy ramen is my go to. I do chasu instead of ground pork and add a extra egg. Chasu is tender and has nice flavor. Ramen egg is nice and runny, marinated perfectly. The runny marinated egg dipped in the broth might be my favorite part. Noodles are cooked perfectly. Not over cooked and mushy and not undercooked. Broth is thick, spicy, and creamy. So flavorful I would sell my soul to eat this every day. My families favorite dish is the broth less ramen. It's like nothing I've had before. Amazing flavor. Kind of hard to describe but you have to trust me on this one! It is amazing. Yellowtail jalapeño is my favorite appetizer to get. Fish is fresh, paired with ponzu is chefs kiss. Only thing is that some of the jalapeños didn't have enough spice if any at all. Could have just been the batch I got. Beef yakitori isn't bad, but could use some more salt. I'd say skip that and just get the yellowtail! Same concept just with beef. Godzilla roll is yummy but the fried batter on the outside was a bit undercooked last time I got it. Avocado ball is stuffed with spicy tuna and has eel sauce drizzled on top. Could never go wrong! Crab ragoons are my second favorite appetizer. Paired with the signature sweet sauce on the side. So freaking good! Dynamite shrimp is similar to nobu, if not better. Employees are very kind. Restaurant is a chill, calm and clean atmosphere. I recommend sitting in front of the window to people watch as you eat your yummy food. Not even kidding, the food comes out so fast! 10 minutes max. Everything here is delicious if you are ever lucky enough to come across itto I highly recommend to check it out. Authentic ramen restaurant. Truly a hidden gem. Everything was delicious: crab Rangoon, firecracker (something analogous to Japanese nachos), Godzilla roll, and particularly the stuffed shishitos were all plated beautifully. Greeted, seated and served by Forrest who is also manager. Stopped in for lunch. Ate here once before as well as at other locations. Crawfish Tower was nicely prepared, tasty and not too spicy. French fries were plentiful, crispy, coated with parmesan cheese and a tasty dip. Serving enough for 2-3 diners. Brought our extras home for breakfast fries. I enjoy the brothless ramen soup. It can be spicy, so Forrest suggested having the chili oil on the side. Great idea seasoned all the delicious contents to my liking. My gal had the poke bowl with very fresh ingredients. There is a variety and plenty of seating in this restaurant that is part of a strip mall. One has to access the mall through a single entrance/exit which is off one of the roads going to Dick's. Wonderful Japanese and Ramen. This place is as fantastic just like the other two places in the Asheville area but not as crowded They do a lot of take out as well. The place is unassuming being stuck by the AT$T store by Dicks Sporting good so is easily missed if you don't know it is here. The wait staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Full disclosure. I was in town here this week from Sunday night until Wednesday afternoon. Sunday night we ate at Itto downtown and my friend and I had one of the best meals and service there. Tuesday we ate at Hickory Tavern, and truth be told I had been thinking about the spicy oil drizzled into the pork ramen broth since I loved it so much sunday night when I basically had it as a soup course. I found out there was another location close to my hotel, and snuck off to get some broth to take back to my hotel room and watch the All star game. It's a little less expensive at this location, and the portion was smaller than when I ate it out of the ramen bowl- but it was still just as glorious as two nights before. The oil coated the top layer constantly, so you have to keep stirring it to keep it somewhat mixed. Anyway, I have decided if I lived in this area I'd be in serious trouble because I'd have this broth at least three times a week. Thanks to the staff here for helping a guy fill his insane need to get ramen broth while I'm in town. I'll be back, to eat again just like downtown- but if you just want a quick tasty snack the broth is your choice! I'll be sure to get a bucket next time I'm here. Walked in on a Saturday around 6:00, it was pretty full so we sat at the bar. Service was friendly and very attentive despite how busy it was. Best bao buns I think I've ever had! Loved the cucumber inside and appreciated how packed full of delicious pork they were. No photo because I just couldn't wait. Sushi looked amazing as well. you know how I want to give you five stars, I have eaten here many a time. Asheville's first good Asian restaurant post doc Cheys. I went to West Asheville Itto the second day they were open and fell in love. Definitely in my top three places to take out of town guests, Eat in only food is usually 5/5. The house deluxe Roman is my go to with Chashu pork, delicious housemaid tonakatsu broth, and I always order an extra 42 degree egg, those are so freaking Tasty, perfect alkaline house made noodles. Favorite appetizers are takoyaki balls, pork pan, fried Gyoza hand made in house, and the broccoli is actually delicious just cooked and garlic, butter, and soy. I've had some tasty sushi rolls. Chicken Katsu, and chicken Karaage have both been really tasty here. Miso eggplant spot on, not to forget the pork buns with chashu pork. All the tapas are delicious. Take out is hit and miss I won't give a number , but I have had a bad experience several times ordering takeout, perhaps some things are better than others. Ramen is usually packaged in such a way as it is almost impossible to break up the mass of noodles, and they skimp on portions with chicken Karaage and the sushi rolls are limp and flavorless by the time I got them at home. Pan fried Gyoza, takiyoko balls, and the brothless Raman do OK though. Service and ambience vary from location location. It is usually between three and five and five out of five. Airport Road does the last time was a 1/5. The service was straight up rude, and they were resentful for us being there. Clearly there is a staffing morale problem currently. No one checked on our food off it was good, we ordered our sake at the bar, and we made sure to get out of there before they even closed. There's a way to ask people to hurry when you get there an hour before they're closing while simultaneously thanking them for their business. I'm not going to take my business because of this one bad experience. We tip highly and are super considerate diners, I actually tipped 18% this night just to make a point. I will still come back and I'm assuming this is a few problematic employees West Asheville has always been super friendly I have yet to go to the Biltmore location and doubt I will but it always looks busy when I drive by All in all, this is one of our best ramen spots and a local business, which I plan on continuing the sport, and I recommend you give them a try read more

Greasy. When this place first opened, it was great. Now, everything is greasy. The Raman is greasy and lukewarm. Appetizers are greasy. The floors and tables are greasy. Service is the highlight. This place needs to shut down for a week and do a heavy duty cleanup with Mr. Clean and reevaluate the menu. I won't be back until I hear the grease is gone. read more

Itto has been in business about a year. I've seen it multiple times and I finally decided on Airport Road in Arden to stop and see what it was all about. The food was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere is lovely the restaurant is long and slender and very well designed. I've included a full menu and lots of shots of the food that I ordered. The prices were very reasonable for well-made Ramen, they have a large variety of other foods and what they call tapas also Asian in nature. This is really unique in the Asheville area and truly worth trying out. I don't think you'll be disappointed I know I wasn't! My waitress was very patient she explained the menu to me and then bagged up all my food for me to carry out. Check out the beautiful interior the restaurant was very clean and welcoming. read more

The gentleman with the beard was the most professional, welcoming, master of rapport building staff member any place in Asheville has to offer. He scoffed at us sharing, said a few words as he walked away and had an unprofessional attitude towards us. We had 6 adults eating ramen meals, plus tapas and splitting desserts. As well as 5 drinking more costly alcoholic drinks. Obviously helping the establishment more. After the bearded worker, we told everyone about the place. Shared about it whether at the rock gym, asheville threads and work places. But the guy tonight with multi color hair was incredibly rude and it left such a bad taste for the place. Had a great lunch here before heading to AVL. Great selection of appetizers and ramen. I had the spicey ramen, which was prepared 12 hours in advance, and it was delicious. Just the right level of spicey for me - not too hot, not too cold. The service was very friendly and helped recommend some favorites on the menu. Our appetizers came out quickly, including pot stickers, which normally take longer to prepare. The serving bowls were elegant as we're the appetizer plates. We visited on a Sat afternoon/lunchtime, and it was surprisingly quiet. I would have loved to have come back in the evening and tried their selection of beers and Saki. read more

My family and I love to visit Itto's after a long week to unwind and enjoy the tasty tapas. The vibe here is both lively and relaxed. We really enjoy the music and the colorful interior. The menu is diverse and we love exploring the different flavors and textures. Our all time favorites are the Spicy Crab Salad, Beef Jalapeño Tataki, Japanese Fried Oysters, Grilled Salmon, Itto Deluxe Ramen and Stuffed Shishito Peppers. Everything is always fresh and cooked perfectly, and we never have to wait very long for the plates to begin flowing out to us. The servers are always happy and responsive. We really enjoy Amber's spirited service and individual style. You've got to try their Saketini's! My favorite is the Itto Aviation. It's made with Lychee Sake, Lavender, and Lemon and it tastes elegant and refreshing. The only thing missing is the loud greeting when you walk in (Irrasshaimase).
