Mr. Tea's has been consistently good after about six visits. I focus mostly on their sushi, but have also had their appetizers and rice dishes. The price is good for the portion sizes, and service has always been excellent. Even take out orders are complete with all needed items, as if going to a park to eat. THE BEST FRIED RICE! This spot in the mall is a hidden gem! Everything I've had has been amazing. We especially love their steak fried rice with yum yum sauce. Other goodies are any of the sushi rolls or dumplings. I stopped at Mr. Tea's for lunch on a work trip. This looked like the best option for what was around the area that I could get to on foot. I'm always choosing Asian food over American. I didn't have high hopes, but I was quite pleased and full when I left. The inside is interesting, it was like I was at a Vegas nightclub, Tao's sister nightclub. I almost started looking around for a dance floor. We were greeted quickly by a really friendly host, who wasn't afraid to joke with us a bit. The restaurant was clean and spacious. I was not expecting this at all. I had the fried oysters, I'm a sucker for these, if it's on the menu, I'm getting it. I don't care if I over order, fried oysters are life. I also had the spicy ramen with pork ribs. Oysters didn't disappoint, hot, crispy, gooey, it's what I need. The ramen broth spice level was perfect, my lips were tingling and my face was a little hot, but not sweaty. The flavors were good, but it lacked a bit of acid, which was fixed with some lime wedges they promptly retrieved on request. The noodles were perfectly cooked and I loved the veggies. Run, don't walk to Mr. Tea Asian Bistro! We get takeout every few weeks and swear it's some of the best Chinese food we've ever eaten. This time it was the hot & sour soup that had us saying it was probably the best we've every had - and we've eaten in Chinatown restaurants in several large cities. Servings are large and the host is always gracious. We've also dined in before and found the dining room classy and comfortable. These restaurants have a tough time so please give them a try the next time you're in mood for a good and reasonably priced Chinese meal. read more

The food was good the serving was pretty. How ever the service and overall atmosphere was bad. I came in when it was not busy and the servers ignored me walking through. They were just sitting and chatting to each other. (The host was welcoming tho) I set about 10 minutes waiting for my order to be taken while my server was talking to the coworker, they did not come up to me until they noticed that I was looking for them. When my order was taken the server immediately left without letting me finish. I was not able to complete my order. Over I did not feel welcomed by the server. My family and I decided to visit the Asheville Mall today. We noticed Mr Tea and decided to have dinner there. We were very happy we did. The service was great, our server was attentive and pleasant and the food was delicious. My husband got the Mongolian beef, I got the Dim Sum and my daughter got the Shrimp Fried Rice. Wow, why haven't I been here before. At the Ashland Mall, but has its own entrance from the parking lot. The dim sum is authentic and awesome. My wife had the chicken fried rice, was great. I had squid salad and it was tasty. The ambience is interesting. Service was top notch. It's very refreshing to find something authentic in the Chinese cuisine category in AVL. We had a variety of sushi, ramen and starters. I absolutely loved the sesame chili wonton dumpling things- they had a slightly spicy peanut sauce but so, so good. I got the rib spicy ramen and I enjoyed the flavor, although not what I am use to. Went back the next day to lunch and JP welcomed us back. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is because I get the feeling that the employees aren't treated well here. The food is spectacular every time, but I've worked in restaurants for a while and you can just tell that management probably sucks. I also witnessed who I'm assuming is a manager YELL at an employee for smoking outside with the door cracked open. I mean yell when I say yell. Not a way to talk to a person, let alone your employee. The manager was a bald man wearing a mask and he yelled at this employee out in the front of the building. No good manager I've ever had addressed employees in this way....shame. read more

At first Jeremy (or Geremy) was great in welcoming us. Our server was Quinn. And we did have a huge order for three people (which came to over $100). TIP: if you are a Military Veteran, you can show your ID and get 5% or 10% off which is nice. But after taking our order, Quinn came back and asked us to spell Dim Sum. (Which is a little strange because this place is mostly a Dim Sum restaurant). The people in my group were happy with the ROASTED DUCK BAO (5 stars) and DIM SUM, but we did as for "Sauce on the side" for the fried wontons, in which spicy sauce was all over it. The coconut Fried Shrimp get the sauce on the side, it is excellent (5 Stars). I don't recommend Mr. Tea's for sushi because the tuna was not fresh. (The octopus was good, and the Fried Shrimp Tempura roll was OK). The Ginger honey tea comes in a little teapot which is nice and great (4 stars). Later Jeremy, maybe he was super busy and stressed but no one was up near the cashier's station when it was the end of our meal so I said, "when you get a moment we would like to get and pay the check". And then he was like, "What are you yelling about?" (Which comes off as rude although his sarcasm may have been joking). I wasn't yelling, I could see he was back in the kitchen, and I wanted to make sure he heard me. (I served in the army, so I may have a different kind of voice than what he is used to). It feels like they are understaffed on a Wednesday night. To summarize: don't go there for sushi, get Dim Sum, tea and BAO and Coconut Fried Shrimp. With a little more training with QUINN about the menu, this place easily could be 4 or 5 stars! read more

Ordered take out, drove all the way home, took one bite and immediately spit it out. it tasted Musty and spoiled. they fought us on getting our money back when we called the same night to tell them how disgusting the sushi roll was.
