So, I'm in Asheville for New Years. And Suwana's is where I had my last meal of 2025. I didn't make reservations anywhere and this was one of the few restaurants (cuisines) that I was ok with (and a friend) that was open and didn't need reservations. So, that's how I chose Thai food to close out the year. Parking. It's on Broadway. Check the signs. Don't get excited like me and pull in only to find it's for loading/unloading or handicapped. I ended up just parking in one of the lots. 3 hour parking for $18.50. I don't know if that's the standard rate or if it was inflated for NYE but after having done a few laps, I just said WTH and pulled right in. It was only a block and a half away. The place wasn't packed but bustling with to go orders. We did arrive later and by the time we left, there were only a few tables occupied. Not being busy, but also being sat where we were - service was great. Attentive as we were always within line of sight of the team and all we needed to do was make eye contact. Not that we needed to other than refills and for me, spicy chili powder/sauce. Food was good. Not spicy - but as my friend would say - nothing is spicy for me. But I wanted the added heat as it was a little chilly out. Good flavors but not explosions like I'm used to. Not that it was bad - maybe it was on the muted side for the demographics? It was a very nice tasty dinner to close out 2025!

They did a great job with it, and I would definitely order it again. It came with tofu, sweet potatoes/carrots, regular potatoes, tomatoes, and peanuts. It also came with rice, which wasn't clear on the menu, but I was happy it doesn't have to be ordered separately. The food came out quickly. The ambiance was nice. I saw some people come in to pick up food orders after we arrived, but we did see one couple get turned away from dining in because it was too close to closing, so just be mindful of the hours. Will definitely be coming back!

I walked across the street from a vegan festival and discovered that this place had ample options for vegan offerings. I figured I'd get takeout for the road: one tofu and string bean stir fry and paid for extra tofu, and also a pad Thai. I thought I'd get two solid meals and a nice variety. I was quite disappointed. For one thing, this is a place that doesn't automatically include rice, which I'm okay with but which was not obvious at all in their online ordering. This being Asheville, I didn't notice this until I started eating this relatively wet dish up in the mountains and realized I had nothing to absorb the sauce. Moreover my extra tofu was not much; even if I hadn't paid extra I would have thought the portion size a little weak. My pad Thai, somehow, came with no tofu at all despite my having ordered it. And for having been shorted on protein and flavor, this food cost close to $40 with no appetizers or anything. Just not a good value. The actual quality of flavor had some merit; the spicy dish was quite spicy, the sweet flavors of the pad Thai were in balance, I got little shreds of herbs that went beyond the basics. These were nicely garnished dishes. At least, there was enough quality there to think that I could conceivably try this place again and give them a chance to do better. If I'd just gotten food commensurate with what I expected on ordering, I would have been pretty happy.

We were quickly seated into a nice booth along the right hand side of the restaurant. The restaurant is clean and decorated well. The lighting and music made it very cozy. We enjoyed the lunch specials today. I had yellow curry with chicken and my friend had Thai fried rice. The lunch special included a salad, served before the main dish, a crispy spring roll and a fried Thai banana! Absolutely delicious and authentic according to my lunch buddy who has spent time in Thailand. Our server was very attentive and very kind. Such a lovely little Thai restaurant here in Asheville. This will be a place we add to our list the next time we visit! Sadly, we are so hungry we didn't take pictures of our delicious meals!

A great dining experience right across from the AC hotel. Nice and clean with friendly staff. Love it!

This was my first restaurant that I have eaten at in Asheville EVER!!! A special moment. I was greeted with upbeat and welcoming customer service! The ambiance is super upbeat and lively. It can be busy, and there can be a wait depending on how busy it is. Though, it is worth it! I ordered the staple, chicken pad Thai!!! Spice level #4! It was delicious, flavorful, pleasantly spicy, and topped with so many fresh vegetables! The crispy spring rolls tasted like heaven!!! The sauce was so luscious and yum!!! Service was excellent and serving speed was amazing! The ambiance was very nice with Thai decor and gives a very calm and friendly eating environment. Food itself is very very good. Thai Iced Tea scored 9.5/10!! Both Fried rice and Pad Woon Sen scored 8/10. The Laksa Noodles scored 9.9/10! As a Singaporean who lived in the USA for almost 17 years, I finally found a taste sooo close to home. Their Laksa Noodles possess our unique Singaporean taste but it is more like Singaporean coconut curry so it should be renamed to Singaporean Coconut Curry Noodles. RUN RUN RUN ..... DO NOT EAT HERE. We had to wait an hour and 20 mins and still had no food . We asked and they pushed us off. At the hour and 20 mins we gave up and wanted to pay for the soda and left after the staff had no answers. I will never go back and will advise everyone I know to avoid this place. Their are better thai places available. That was ridiculous for pad thai. read more

Authentic Thai food. I love their papaya salad mix with shrimp and squid that not many other Thai restaurants do. Beef salad-numtok was one of my favorites as well. Their green curry, lad na noodle were amazing. They have options for kid meals as well. read more

Food was fantastic! I had drunken noodles and my husband had pineapple rice (pork dish with peppers onions and rice in a half pineapple). We both had Thai iced tea which was delicious! Service was perfect and we had a nice table up at the front by the window. It was a good value and def planning on coming back to try other things! We love reccommending great places to others... put this one on your list! read more

Steamed dumplings were excellent. Summer role was good but a bit too loosely rolled and hard to eat intact. I had Crispy Duck Noodle (soup) and it was excellent. My bride had Cashew Chicken and it too was excellent. Medium heat is true medium and a bit spicy for her, but I found perfect. Ambiance is very nice. Clean without a lot of unnecessary adornment. AC was refreshing without draftiness. Service was fast (1 min) Food was also very fast. (apps 5 minutes; food followed just as we finished apps) I would definitely return. 5/5 Stars - A Thai Food Gem! We started with the summer rolls, which were incredibly fresh and served with a rich, flavorful peanut sauce--outstanding. The Tom Kha soup was a highlight: creamy, aromatic, and loaded with fresh tofu and vegetables. The green curry pork had just the right balance of spice and sweetness, with tender meat and vibrant flavors throughout. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with freshness. We were looking for a casual lunch in Asheville on a Saturday afternoon and stumbled upon Suwana's Thai Orchid. The service the quick and friendly. We were seated right away. We ordered the crab rangoon and steamed dumplings to share as appetizers. Both were great! I especially liked the crab rangoon with the dipping sauce. For my main, I had the Pad woon sen with fried tofu. The tofu was perfectly crispy, and the noodles were flavorful and salty. I did wish that the dish had more spice. It was very mild. The portions were large, and we ended up needing some to-go boxes. Overall, this was a solid Thai restaurant, and I think our whole table was pleased with their meals. read more

Dropped into Suwana's on a Friday while visiting Asheville, the food had really good flavor. Everybody enjoyed their food especially the Pineapple Curry fried rice. The one thing we didn't enjoy was they only had 2 servers for the entire restaurant. It created a RUSHED environment, they couldn't hold a decent conversation because of the volume of people coming in and out of the restaurant. read more

New ownership! Finally a great Thai place right on Biltmore Avenue. This was not nearly as good more than a year ago. Ignore old reviews. The dumplings had a terrific flavor. Pad Thai also good. Will be back to try more adventurous parts of the menu. read more

You lost a long time customer in me tonight. The right thing to do when you send someone home with the wrong order is offer to refund their money or bring them the right order. YOU make it right, don't make it up to me to absorb the mistake. Don't make it my job to pay for food I didn't order or to drive back downtown. It is pitiful that your first instinct is to give me a guilt trip that your employees are going to have to pay for your mistake; it should be a given that your restaurant absorb the loss. If you're going to make them pay for it, I think that's shitty of you, but that's on you. I'm sure you are a real gem to work for and receiving this snarky attitude from you over such an obvious fix, surprised you are still in business. read more

This was the first time at this restaurant as we were vacationing in Asheville but we have been to many Thai restaurants. The menu was extensive and interesting. I had the yellow curry and the crispy duck salad for the first time. Both were delicious. Generous portions. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Compared to other tai food in town this place is good. Vegetable dumplings were tasty. My wife's curry dish came with lots of well seasoned green beans. Big complaint was the roasted half chicken which in the menu says it's marinated but it was very bland clearly not marinated in anything, not even a salt and pepper rub, and served with a bit of very sweet chili sauce. Don't put on a menu that it's marinated if it isn't. I was torn between 3and 4 stars. read more

We had a delightful meal. When traveling very often you eat a lot of food that does not have many vegetables. Here they made beautiful dishes that had a very nice set of vegetables, and very tasty protein and delicious sauce. Everything was done quickly and efficiently, and the price was great.
