Very bad place. We placed an order and waited 30 minutes, but everything went completely wrong. It looks like our food was given to other people by mistake. The staff doesn't seem to know what they're doing and can't keep track of orders properly. In the end, we lost time and money, and it's not even clear if we'll get a refund. We just had to leave. I have eaten fish and chips all over and i would rather eat frozen highliner fish sticks raw from a walmart freezer. The "chips" are literally frozen fries not in house potatoes. Fish is the same you would get from a frozen section at the grocery store. read more

Even with only 1 table besides us the food took forever. This could be because they have chosen a bunch of high school girls to work unsupervised as far as I can see. They are laughing and giggle in the back while we just stand waiting to be have our order taken. I don't even blame the young ladies. Update August 12 New score 1 1/2 stars I've eaten here three times over the past couple weeks trying different things on the menu in hopes of being able to have a positive dining experience. It's just not happening the only thing on the menu that minimum acceptable is the halibut and chips for 15 bucks plus tax which is too expensive for the super small portion that you get. Management did send me a $25 gift card from my initial complaint which was nice which is why I've had two other dinners here in the past 10 days. The first dinner was obviously the original halibut and chips which the halibut was fine the chips were soggy greasy french fries. The problem with this entrée is your only getting 2 ounces of halibut. Maybe six bites and that's it. My next meal was four pieces true cod dinner for around 12 or $13 I think. I made the mistake of getting this order to go and when I got home seven minutes later everything in the package was nothing but a soggy greasy mess. So tonight after golfing I thought I would try the clam and chips and two pieces of cod. because the picture looks so nice up on the menu board and I made sure that I ate the dinner there so it wouldn't be all soggy like my other take-out order. Total fail. Even instantly eating the meal when it's brought to me the two pieces of cod are not the least bit crispy as far as the batter coating there just a soggy mess. The order of clams did not even appear to be half the size of the order in the menu picture which was a big disappointment. But they were at least Chris PP and much better taste and then the soggy cod fish. I will not be coming back I'll stick the ordering fish and chips at regular restaurants that seem to know how to make the meal in the proper fashion. How Ivars has french fries on its menu that it claims are chips and hasn't figured out a way to cook them and have them not be a soggy greasy mess is amazing. Score 2 1/2 stars. After reading all the wonderful reviews on Ivar's here in Marysville I decided to stop in for a quick dinner because I do like fish and chips. The service was fantastic all the young employees working there were very fast efficient and friendly. the restaurant wasn't super clean but it was average compared to most fast food places. My big point deduction is for the quantity of food that I received. The quality was OK not better than I expected nor worst just kind of average I'm in it's Fish and chips it's not that difficult throw them in the fryer for a specific period of time and they'll come out perfectly cooked. I paid $16.50 with tax for the three-piece halibut and chips no drink I just got a water so no cost there. I sat down with self-serving myself tartar sauce and catch up in my glass of water and really quickly maybe 6-7 minutes later an employee brought out my little small basket of fish and chips. I asked him did I accidentally order off the child's menu? Because I was really shocked to see the extremely small quantity of food in that little tiny basket for a $15 fish and chip dinner. Halibut and chips. There or exactly 3 very thin small pieces of halibut and approximately a small McDonald's size order of fries in this little tiny basket. Each piece of fish was only three eights of an inch thick at its thickest point and half of it was half that thick two pieces of the fish would've equaled about the size of a deck of playing cards. I could have ordered five baskets five separate orders and could've easily dumped all five baskets into my baseball cap and it would not be overflowing would not probably become level with the edge of the baseball cap that's how small the quantity of food was that I was delivered. I satisfied my curiosity the halibut and chips were pretty tasty but there's no way I would go back and pay $16 for what I received again if the price were cut in half down to eight dollars for what I received I would be on the fence about returning again. The food still tastes very good. Service is decent. But the portion sizes of the fish is just a plain rip off The French fries are almost larger than a piece of fish here. So your paying $5 apiece for those little tiny pieces of cod. Used To be a huge fan especially since I've met Ivar Haglund when I was a little guy. But the consumer ID just getting hosed here now. The staff here really stepped forward after missing my chowder in my online order. I live a ways out but came back rather than doing a refund and they were so great in making sure my soup was fresh. Other than that, my family loved our meal. The fish wasn't overly dipped or greasy, and the fries were not burnt. I came here once 3 years ago and that service was fantastic, but the food was super disappointing. Last week I went back just really craving some fried seafood (even if it was going to suck) and was so pleasantly surprised! The service was still extremely friendly, and the food was actually good! I got the alska true cod fish & chips, and the seafood combo & chips. The combo came with fried clams, shrimp, and one piece of the alaska pollock fish. I really noticed the difference between the cheaper pollock and the true cod. I highly recommend spending a little more and getting the better fish. The fries were nice and hot and fresh. I'm just not a big fan of their fries, they're the natural cut kind, but I still ate quite a few. Was very pleased this time around and will be back again soon! read more

Really Good!!! This Ivars was clean and fast! The food, AWESOME! Chowder was perfect and our Cod was perfectly cooked. The pieces were a good size compared to the Ivars in Lakewood, which is the closest to Olympia/Lacey where I live. There they give you pieces half the size of the ones we were served at this Marysville Ivars. So, we were very happy with the portions we got for the money we spent. Also, I loved the self serve ketchup and Tatar sauce station! Next time I visit Marysville, I will definitely be hitting up this Ivars! Great, job! read more

Ordered full boat special on DoorDash for my kids and I. When we received the order we found a long dark colored hair mixed in with the fries. I then inspected everything. We found another 3 small dark colored hair in the fish as well. The clam chowder smelled off and looks like they just stuck it in the microwave to reheat because the lid was melted around the bowl I couldn't even open it. I had to throw everything away. My friend and I went to Ivars in Marysville WA on Saturday Jan. 27th. I haven't been to Ivars in YEARS, but remembered how wonderful it was and bragged to my friend that we were both in for a treat. BOY...was I wrong! We arrived and weren't even greeted with a hello. I stood at the counter for a while before someone looked up to take my order. I decided To order the scallops with chips, clam strips with chips, and the fisherman's catch which would include clam strips, breaded shrimp and fish. We sat down and our order arrived fairly quickly. The fries were cold and mediocre at best. For the price it should have been steak fries, or at least served hot! The clam strips were tasty. The scallops were a complete joke. OVERCOOKED and small. It mostly tasted like breading. I had to gulp down water to get the charred taste from my mouth. Next, I tried the breaded shrimp. HA! Well they got the name right. They were SO small. The deserved to be called baby shrimp. I mean they were even SMALLER than the size of bay salad shrimp. Next I picked up something that appeared to be fish. It was again VERY small...more like a crummy fish stick. THIS was the fish on the fisherman's dish. The french fries were longer than this piece of junk. It also had NO flavor. I was thoroughly disgusted with the meal and apologized to my friend. Mr. Ivars if he was living would have been very upset with the quality, portion and price. I paid close to $50.00 for the meal and got crap. It would have been better to get a frozen tv dinner! I MIGHT try Ivars once more closer to a touristy area or by the ferry. MAYBE they might be more in tune to pleasing the tourists. But as for me and my friends... our IVAR eating exp was awful! Came in at 8:55 with my wife and Boys on Sunday evening. I get that it's Sunday night and the staff are ready to go home, but you're open til 9:30 and not 9pm? But unwilling to refill the ketchup/tartar sauce in the condiment station and young lady gives me an eye roll after I ask for some from behind the counter is not cool. Food was fine, but rushed service and the first couple of tartar packets had tartar sauce on the them from what must have been a broken open one or something from behind the counter in the cooler cause I got it all over my hands.
