I especially enjoyed the small touches, like the adorable hot water kettle--perfect for my morning tea--and the stunning city view at night, which made the stay even more special.

The food from the taco spot is also really good. Oleg from the concierge service is one hell of a cool dude. Gave us all the good spots to visit in Chicago, all the tips we needed to know to get around, and even really took care of us. I asked for a way to enjoy some special beers that we brought with us as Chicago tourists and he offered to bring over a whole mini fridge to the room. Super awesome guy! The room was also interesting as it's so nice even if it was very small. Everything about this hotel was great.

I was told it closes at 11p the first night, and turns into a club Friday and Saturday and closes later. So to my surprise, the first night I tried to to go up at 10:15, I couldn't because they cut elevator access off at 10pm. 2nd night, I couldn't get into the other area because of a private event. The final night at 9pm, I tried again and was told told they dont open to the public until 9:30p or 10p. WHAT?! According to the website its open on Saturdays 11am to 2am. No break. My first night when I couldn't get up to the roof, I tried the restaurant downstairs. Also closes at 11pm. 10:20, hostess says they just called last call. I said cool I can order a drink. She said no they just called last call. I went back and forth with her and gave up and checked with the desk and they said they close at 10:30p. Then someone else said they close at 11:00pm but will call last call at 10:30 to help with the kitchen. and then confirmed, well they closed a little early that night. If you're thinking you'll get rooftop access or anything here. Look elsewhere.

Hampton Inn majestic will let you relive the Chicago fire!!!…read more Was not a fan of their elevators since they kept jumping from levels 6 and 7 and would randomly stop without being called. The last Hampton inn I got stuck in the elavator and had an off experience with getting help, so I chose to use the stairs. Upon using the stairs we were met with SEVERAL linen boxes blocking our only exit. They were all in different directions and could not be easily rolled out, especially when we were blocked behind them. Instead we had to parkour over it to escape. There was a valet driver sitting at the front and ignored us after I asked for help and continued to say she's just valet she can't do anything. These bins were there for well over an acceptable time, blocking the only stairs and fire safety exit but also for people that didn't enjoy their sketchy elevators. And again, pallets were there days later also blocking the ONLY emergency exit and stairwell exit. Completely unacceptable in a normal city let alone one with history of building fires. Exits should not be blocked and it's clear the building uses this space for "storage" often. Before the fire situation even happened, their breakfast situation was insane. Our first morning was on a Monday. Their service is until 10 am and around 9am we headed down for some fuel. By that time, the dining room was packed, the tiny buffet room was empty of food but packed with people who were waiting for tables, chairs and all of the food to be restocked. One woman was trying to run the whole operation while two men just stood behind the concierge desk and watched the shit show of breakfast service happen in front of them. Someone should have helped her get breakfast together. Even if it wasn't their job, in hospitality, their job as hotel manger or anyone who works in the hotel is to make sure the guest have a pleasant stay, not to look pretty sitting in front of the Hampton inn welcome to Chicago sign. Overall unorganized and not something nice to look at when you first walk into a hotel lobby, chaos. You would think the grievances would stop there. However we were then denied the benefits that we get as gold Hilton members. Previously at hiltons and Hilton branches we have been offered two bottles of water per room per day. Most of the time they would be offered upon check in (which they did not) and given daily throughout our stay. This time the concierge allowed my mom just to go grab them out of the fridge. The next day we did the same and the concierge Robyn gave me immediate backlash even after I said we were previously allowed to take them. She repeatedly said I was wrong and gave no hospitality to hear my side of the story. I didn't want to cause a scene and returned my water. She then slammed them onto our table as I was eating breakfast with my family. Definitely could have been better ways for her to deal with the problem and I did not appreciate the hostility coming from the concierge at 9 am. We were already all crammed at a small table because there are no seating arrangements easily accessible for families or even enough seats in the dining room. One star because housekeeping did great and my room was clean and refreshed when necessary (and because zero is not an option) Otherwise I would hope I never have to stay here again.

The staff were somewhat friendly until different things started to come up... 1st issue: Friday night the elevators completely stopped working. Big problem due to having a small infant and needing to get the stroller down. We were staying on the 10th floor. But an even bigger problem was that we started to notice floods of people come on our floor and notify us that there was not an exit even via the stairs!!!! My husband got on the phone with the front desk and the reply was "you are just going to have to wait for the elevator." This was completely unacceptable and UNSAFE- what if there was a fire? What if something dangerous was happening and we couldn't get out of the building? This itself would have landed this hotel at a 1-2 rating. The elevator issue didn't fill resolve itself for our whole stay- only 2/3 were in service and they took 5-10 minutes to show up each time. Seriously inconvenient. 2nd issue: they put one of our rooms (we had 3 groups) literally next to the pool. Kids were screaming their heads off beginning at 6:30am and it would carry on until 10pm. When SIL called down to the front desk she was told "sorry that's just how it is and it should quiet down soon." Again, completely unacceptable. We had young children and infants who needed to nap and go to bed early. 3rd issue: we asked for a late check out since our flight was later and we needed to get our baby to take a nap- after all of these issues they said they would extend it to 1:00, which was nice. We did then ask if it could be extended another hour and we were told it would cost $25. Fine... what was not fine was when there was banging on our door and someone walked in at 1:25pm to clean the room. It woke up our baby and completely defeated the purpose of us extending our late check out and paying the extra $25. 4th issue: apparently they don't clean the rooms unless you are staying for 3 or more nights? We didn't know about this and assumed we would get new towels since there is a sign in the bathroom saying "hang towels to reuse" or "if you would like new ones, place them on the floor". We needed new towels so we followed what it said and then were told our rooms wouldn't be cleaned or even checked to see if we needed new towels. Good things I will say: - very convenient area - provided a pack n play - Starbucks in the hotel - hotel room was clean Would have love for this stay to have been better since the Marriott is well known and usually a great place to stay.... but the lack of customer service makes it hard to want to book another room at a Marriott hotel.

Since I only had one more night on my reservation they could not move me to another room. So I endured a second night with very little sleep. In addition to this unfortunate situation the hotel did not provide bottled water. You were given an empty bottle and directed to a "hydration station" to fill up. This might not have been a big deal, but the water smelled and tasted like it was sourced from someone's pool. So all in all my stay at the Canopy was horrible and needless to say I won't be returning. My guess is that every room ending in 12 will have the same problem. I'm surprise that other guests haven't mentioned this situation in their reviews...

If you're able to splurge for club access at $200/person, you'll get to experience stunning city views, breakfast, afternoon tea, snacks, unlimited cocktails, and evening bites. We were also sent a bottle of wine and snacks to our room. I loved that they have a free spa area where you can use the sauna, heated stone loungers, and cold showers. The pool was stunning and we enjoyed swimming, just wish the hot tub was hotter as it was lukewarm. The room was great as well with a Nespresso machine and relaxing tub. Every time we stepped out of the room we would come back to a nice surprise, the room would be cleaned or they would leave the water and ice. Very attentive customer service here. Overall it was nice to live in luxury for the night, highly recommend if you're looking to splurge and relax! Hope I'll be able to stay again someday.

We will definitely seek out the Langham properties at different locations in the future and not sure why we didn't before. Everything was superb on every level! We also had Afternoon Tea and it was the most beautiful room we've ever had tea in, along with the food and tea of course. We are having trouble getting "adjusted" to our life back home now. Missing it all very much. A shout out to IGOR in Club dining and lounge. He was fantastic and it was great to see him every day.

I had been in Chicago just a few months earlier and had paid $55 at the L7 Hotel. So I was shocked that the JW could charge so much. How is their valet parking better than the valet parking at the L7? I realize now that had I been traveling alone, and not with my family, it would have been cheaper to fly to Chicago, than drive the 4.5 hours from Ohio. Apparently the hospitality industry hasn't caught on to the current affordability crisis, or at least Marriott hasn't.

So the JW seemed affordable within the mix...at $700+ a night... I've stayed at a few JWs across Asia and the US. For whatever reason this one didn't seem to meet JW's normally high standard. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think it started with the lobby and bar. It was always overcrowded and noisy, and just didn't feel very intimate or elegant. That followed with the fact there's only one restaurant in the hotel and both times we visited it was nearly empty. It's tucked on the second floor back in the corner, and just feels like a standard obligatory hotel restaurant. The food was good but the ambience was just odd. The room was well-appointed, including a comfortable bed and soft sheets. And the bathroom had everything we needed. But the service day-to-day required follow up. They forgot to restock coffee, water and cups a few times, and when I called the front desk they delivered in a trash bag. There is a daily service charge that I believe is $50 a night and provides Wi-Fi, access to gym, and a free class. We went to use the gym to access the sauna and steam room, but learned that's part of the spa not gym so had to pay a separate per person charge. The spa was refreshing but fairly standard. Not like the Seoul Marriott with multiple heated baths and a cold plunge. Call me spoiled. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is very nice but for $700 a night and knowing what I know about most JW's this just seems slightly below their standard. I wouldn't pay that much again, but would come back for a more affordable rate.

Both have incredible views but I would definitely recommend having at least one meal on the Miru patio if you are there during nice weather. -I was most surprised by their massive gym and has stunning views. It's also open 24 hours. They offered Pilates classes as well for an extra fee. -the hotel is brand new and all the finishes are so high end. The rooms are clean and quiet. The hallways are huge and felt like a maze to navigate but it also added to feeling of privacy. -there were so many high end details that made it extra special (the cozy Frette bath robes, welcome drinks, treat box in the room upon arrival, and the accent lighting in the room). -the location. It's just across the river from the heart of Michigan ave on the north end of a residential development. You don't feel like you are in the middle of the chaos of the city but the park, lake front and river are footsteps away. Negatives: -view was underwhelming ( fourth floor river view . Might choose the park view next time. I'd also recommend not facing the river as there was lots of honking/noise. -the room layout was awkward. They have this huge desk between the bed and tv. The full length mirror is a down a long hallway from bathroom/ where you would be getting dressed. -the room service comes on these huge heavy trays. The staff seemed like they were straining under the weight of it/ it was awkward. -I'd probably skip the spa/massage -$90/ day parking. Was able to do a spothero for about $40 next door.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Ivy Hotel. I specifically chose a boutique hotel because I expected a higher level of service and a more personalized experience, but unfortunately, that was not the case. The front desk staff was very rude and unwelcoming. Throughout my stay, I entered and exited the hotel multiple times and was never once greeted or acknowledged. Even when I checked out, the interaction was incredibly cold. I was simply told, "You're all set." There was no "Thank you for your stay," "Have a good day," or even a basic acknowledgment that we were leaving. For a hotel, especially a boutique hotel, those small gestures of hospitality should be standard. The TV in our room also did not work, which was a major inconvenience for me. I enjoy spending time relaxing in my hotel room while on vacation, so having a working TV is a basic necessity. When I brought the issue to the front desk, I was essentially told, "There's nothing we can do about it now". There was no apology, attempt to fix the issue, or effort to make the situation right. On top of the poor service, the room itself was not as clean as I would expect from a hotel at this price point let alone a boutique. Overall, the experience was very disappointing. I expected much better hospitality and service from a boutique hotel, especially one in downtown Chicago. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not stay at the Ivy Hotel again or recommend it to others. read more

if i could give 0 star rating i would!!!!! my hubby and i went to Chicago on 7/12/14 for our 3 years anniversary let me tell you if we would of stayed in MI it would of been so much better. The staff at this hotel are absolutely horrible including the Manager.They have a $250 fee that they hold your acct. as soon as you walk in the doors! We did not know about that when i booked the room for us back in June on Expedia no where on the booking did it say that! so the one staff member told us we would help us out coming from MI and gave us it for only $150 watch is still BS but he worked with us so we say ok. the room wasn't ready yet so we went and did some stuff walked around came back at about 5 pm their was a different staff member let me tell you he was a asshole! he just took my card and ran it for the $250 without telling me til after the fact i was pissed we told him the guy in the morning gave it to us for $150 and just did not care what we had to say at all he told us if we don't like it we can get the FUCK out! we then went crazy asked for the manger he said there is no manager right now but i tell you something when it got loud in the lobby and manger came out. The manger really didn't care what we had to say at all he was just pissed that the other guy told us $150. we ended up getting all of are money back from the room and stopped the $250 and drove back home to MI the same day go got there. just asshole's running the hole hotel! read more

I cannot believe the staff here! The server at the roof top sat us and asked if we were going to order anything to drink or eat and we said give us a moment because we wanted to enjoy the roof top view of the city (being it was my first time in Chicago and on my 21st birthday.) The stupid lady made a sighing noise and slammed shut our menus and took them from us. I was in shock and disbelief. I wanted to check out and ask for my money back, but I knew since I paid with a credit card, I wouldn't have seen my money for the next 4 to 6 days and I didn't have any extra money to stay at a different hotel. I will NEVER go back to this place, not even if you paid me to stay here. Keep your stupid uneducated staff at your location and your company will go belly up sooner than later because they chase all the paying customers away. I feel like this place was made as a prostitution hookup place. Then the server on the roof top was being freaky and nasty with a guy that was sitting across from her. She kept walking up to him and giving him a kiss and rubbing on him while on the job! Then they were texting each other while standing directly in front of one another like teens ragging out on their hormones. I give this shitty place a shitty review. This boutique hotel feels like the hidden gem in the heart of Chicago! So chic and modern and centrally located close to everything you need. The view may be lacking a little, but unless your hotel is facing Michigan Ave, you are pretty much lost in a sea of high rises anyway. The charge for parking is a bit steep as well, but again if you are parking in Chicago you are paying for it. The The design, rooftop lounge and room furnishings are so well done! The rooms are comfortable and truth be told, the bathroom might be the best part of your entire stay! An amazing soaking tub, outstanding shower and don't miss the tv in the bathroom mirror! All these little special touches make this hotel stand out above the rest and will keep us coming back time and time again! read more

The hotel is extremely outdated. Not worth the price. The bedframe was dirty, bathroom was dirty, everything was just dirty. I also left a high value item. The hotel staff was unfriendly and refused to help me look for it despite me calling on the day of the check out. It was my fault for leaving the item behind but this happened at other hotels before and I never had trouble getting back my items. I lost $400 because the staff was unprofessional and decided to take the item for themselves. This is like a two star motel at best. Stay at the W instead. read more

I had a great experience at Ivy Boutique Hotel on a previous visit, but this time was a complete letdown. The heating was broken in freezing 0-degree Chicago weather, making the room unbearably cold. To make matters worse, there was no liner between the sheets, which felt unhygienic and uncomfortable. It's clear that the quality has decreased significantly, and the attention to detail is lacking. For the price, I expected much better. Won't be returning. read more

The hotel was nice. The room was nice. But for a hotel of this stature, at the price we paid, you would think they would pay a cleaning person to properly clean the shower. We found two PUBIC HAIRS on the shower wall. This isn't the Red Roof in, this is supposed to be an upscale, posh experience. GROSS! The Radisson Blue was a much nicer experience for us. read more

I will be back here! We stayed in a Queen Studio and we were very impressed with the modern elegant design of the space. Huge bathroom with tub and walk in shower. We also had a lounge area that was very nice, we were to busy to use it but it would be nice on a long weekend. Great Location with lots of character. read more

The conference rooms are well-equipped and the on-site food options made all-day meetings painless. Rooms are spacious and clean; the AC system is quiet enough to serve as white noise, which is a plus. Security card access to floors adds peace of mind. Staff was genuinely friendly and helpful throughout my stay. However, the WiFi kept dropping, which is frustrating for a business hotel, something they need to address. The coffee is also genuinely bad, but nearby cafes are plentiful. Overall a solid choice for location and hospitality, but the tech infrastructure needs work.

The hotel was clean and nice, but not the best place I've ever stayed - but to be expected for this hotel class. Rooms can be pricey but be sure to use the best price guarantee if you find your room and date cheaper elsewhere (I saved doing this!).

If you're traveling from the train, it's only a 10 minute walk from the red line station and maybe 40 minutes from O'Hare but it's central to downtown Chicago, there are so many good restaurants and shopping and attractions all withing a 10-15 minute walk. As soon as my friends and I walked in we were greeted by the best citrusy scent that was both luxe and welcoming. Check in was a breeze and even though we a couple hours early we were able to go to our suite. We stayed on the 26th floor, I also booked a room with the DoubleTree within the same building and that was on the 20th floor. We were given cookies and we went to our suite and oh my it was beautiful, super spacious, a king size bed in a separate room and a massive shower. The living room was large and we had a little kitchenette plenty of room for three people. At night I called down for an extra blanket and they were so sweet to bring it up, really loved this room and thought it would be perfect for a family. The staff here are super friendly at the end of our stay we still had a couple hours to kill and we were able to keep our luggage with at the hotel while we explored. I want to come back to Chicago again and would definitely want to stay at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club again!

Modern and upscale rooms, a Starbucks in the hotel and a restaurant the Hot House serving up amazing American cuisine. They have a full gym that is open 24/7 but the beauty of it is no one can access the gym unless they have a hotel key card and you can't use the equipment unless you swipe your hotel key card. The top floors of the hotel 20 - 26 are reserved for grand Hilton hotel owners only. The suite I stayed in on the 25th floor was absolutely amazing. The customer service was top tier and the rooms were spacious and modern.

Let me just say that Google reviews are not Yelp reviews! This hotel is paired up with a Hampton Inn as well so I'd avoid them too. The check- in process was smooth enough. We asked about any available room upgrades and were told that they were fully booked. We verified that we had a Lakeview suite and were given room keys for #3304. There were no luggage carts available, so we returned to the attached parking garage (separate valet entity not associated with the hotel) to retrieve our things and headed towards the elevators. The nasty, carpeted elevator floors were the first red flags. They were disgusting, old, stained and looked as if they hadn't been vacuumed in ages. There was an abandoned hat in the corner when we checked in after 11pm... it was still there when we returned from breakfast and for the majority of the day. I wonder if there are ANY housekeepers onsite. The first room that we were assigned was freezing despite having the thermostat set to the highest temperature available. I believe the max was 78 degrees Fahrenheit (our stay was during January and it was snowing outside). Also, the view was of other buildings, not the Lakeview that we'd paid extra for. We called down to the desk, had to plead our case, stayed on hold so long that we thought we'd been forgotten, and eventually had to go downstairs to be assigned another room (#8305, I think). The 2nd room was in much worse condition. The "new" room was on a higher floor and therefore had a better view and the heat worked...EXTREMELY well. It was either really hot or immediately cold. No in-between. It felt as if we were being punk'd. The carpet was shredded in areas (duct tape held the carpet down at the threshold of the door to the room), artwork and mirrors were missing from the walls (evident by the clean spot the frames had left on the very dirty walls), and long strands of hair were found in the bathroom. We'd arrived very late, it was nearly midnight, so we resigned for the night and contemplated checking out the next morning. The mattress was uncomfortable and made for a restless night. Breakfast was disappointing as well. The meat options on both days were rubbery and dry, and the eggs were always quite watery (we decided to stay instead of dealing with the inconvenience of relocating). The waffles that you make yourself were the highlight of the offerings. There were some muffins and yogurt available as well. I could tell that, despite the rogue hairs, the housekeeping staff were trying. They had tied little bows on the toilet paper and paper towels. After our stay, I completed a survey from Hilton regarding our stay and asked to be contacted to discuss further. I received an email response from the manager telling me to contact her using the contact info below, but there was no contact info listed. She was the same, mostly unhelpful, woman who'd sent us jumping through hoops the first night to get our room issues resolved; I recognized her name. It was a complete joke. My husband contacted Hilton, and after 3 attempts on his part, we were refunded 50% off the cost of our stay. This is the worst Hilton property I've ever stayed at, and as a brand-loyalist, I'm a bit traumatized. I now also fear booking rooms with carpet.

It was nice to have a fridge and microwave, too. Oh, and we had a nice view of the lake! We enjoyed the location and found the parking structure on the local parking app for a great deal. Staff were friendly and the place was clean. I took off one star because the bathtub could use some updating. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

My wife absolutely loved the aesthetic, and we found ourselves appreciating all the little details that make citizenM stand out from a typical hotel experience. The view from our room was incredible. There's something special about looking out over downtown Chicago, especially in the evening when the city lights begin to come alive. It gave us the perfect backdrop to an already memorable getaway. What truly elevated our stay, however, was the staff. Every employee we encountered was friendly, engaging, and genuinely seemed happy to help. Whether we were asking a question, looking for recommendations, or simply passing through the lobby, we were always greeted with a smile and positive energy. That level of hospitality makes a lasting impression. The location is also fantastic, putting you within easy reach of many of Chicago's best attractions, restaurants, and experiences. We loved being able to explore the city and then return to such a comfortable and stylish home base. We show up and they gave us a shoebox room that is their "club room" outfitted with a full bed. The front desk was terrible. Comically rude. Maybe we're on a reality tv show where the premise is to see how bad a hotel experience can be before guests just eat the cost and go somewhere else. We have 3 days left... stay tuned.

This hotel is the biggest catfish. I booked a Standard King. When I arrive at the hotel to check-in…read moreat 4pm, mind you just an hour after the allowed check-in time begins, they direct me to a digital kiosk where I have to fill out all my info, scan my card, and make my own keys. I'm randomly assigned a room, while a concierge stands next to the kiosk and claps patronizing when I finished checking myself in on the iPad. We get up to the "Standard King Room," and there's only one elevator so it takes 29 minutes to even get the car, and the bed isn't a king; it's two twin beds strapped together with a band. There's no fridge, no microwave, and the bathroom is a giant open shower with a drain in the middle of the floor. There's no counter, just a sink jutting out of the wall. I'm told by the concierge that the room is ADA compliant, but as a mobility aid user, I can promise this room was no such thing. There was not enough space to fit a wheelchair all the way into the room or even turn it around fully. Additionally, the AC had no filter and the door to the room was 3ft from the elevator. I request a different room at the front desk, and because all the king beds in the hotel are twins strapped together (even though they do not disclose that anywhere), they offer a Standard Queen - which the concierge PROMISES is an upgrade because it's in a "newly renovated" room. Guys. I don't know w newly renovated means to Club Quarters, but I this place was updated in the early 2000s. I've attached pictures of what the room looked like - because the pictures featured here on TripAdvisor and on their own site ARE HUGE LIES. Our "upgraded" room had a leak stain in the ceiling, stains in the carpet, the lighting fixture in the bathroom was dirty and rusting, the shower was open as well with a line of bricks along the floor to delineate a separation from the rest of the bathroom, and it overlooked an closed-off alley with a dumpster so the room was dark all day. There was dust on every surface. And despite a sign on the door that says to use the do not disturb sign if we don't want the room serviced, we learn that the room is "service on request" only, AFTER we came back from a long day and didn't have towels to use or any toilet paper. When we called down for new towels the person at the desk literally huffed before saying they'd send someone up. On top of all of this, the third floor, where they "upgraded" us to, has open access. Every other floor requires a keycard to gain elevator access, but the third floor doesn't. And since there's no one at the front monitoring anything because they make you check in on an iPad, anyone can just walk into the hotel and go to the third floor. Anyone. And guess what? They did. We found people outside our room just roaming the hall. This is the wildest, most unprofessional hotel l've ever stayed in. Check these photos, and don't trust t photos on their website. They're catfishier than the girl you've been dating in Canada.
