To be honest, I didn't expect I would have a wonderful stay at this hotel. I was trying to use up my Amex hotel credit, and this hotel wasn't too expensive among those Amex The Hotel Collection hotels, so I picked it. The hotels in Chicago area are generally expensive, so in order to save some money, I chose a lower level no lake view King size bed guest room. When I arrived and checked in, the front desk immediately upgraded my room to an upper level with lake view room. As soon as he realized that we actually had three people, he further upgraded us to a double queen bed guest room. The room was great! We were at the 12th floor with lake view and some river view. The room was also spacious and clean. One interesting thing is that for some reason people at this hotel wouldn't accept the tips. We left some cash under the pillow for the cleaning crew, but when we came back, the cash was on the bedside table. My son wanted to borrow a screw driver to dissemble his PC, and a maintenance crew delivered the screw driver to our room. When my son tried to tip him, he declined. The service was excellent! We got complementary breakfast at ETA restaurant, which was also amazing! The food was delicious and had a good amount, so we didn't even need lunch. The location of this hotel was very convenient. We could simply walk to the lake front or walk along the river. There were may restaurants and stores nearby. At night, it wasn't scary to walk around. On the day of our departure, because our flight was very late, the front desk extended our check out time to 4 pm, which was greatly helpful. My hubby booked Loews Chicago Hotel for our 10 year wedding anniversary and it was an absolutely wonderful stay! Sabiha assisted us with check-in and made our stay extra special right from the beginning. Our room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable, everything was functional (I will add that on my hubby's side of the bed didn't have a wall outlet to charge his phone so that was probably the only minor detail), and Sabiha included a few extra goodies that made our celebration even more special, so we really appreciated that. The gym was very clean and the equipment/machines and dumbbells were all state-of-the-art and well maintained. It had everything we needed for a good workout. And we also utilized the room service for breakfast -- we ordered the Breakfast Smoothie, Meat Skillet, Lobster Benedict, and the Greek Yogurt with fresh fruit, and everything was delicious! All in all, we are extremely satisfied with our stay at Loews. It's a super convenient and central location to shops and restaurants in the city and the hospitality that Sabiha and the staff provided was top notch. Thank you, Loews! This was my first stay at this property, though I've stayed at several other luxury hotels in Chicago. Pros: The location is excellent, near the Gold Coast and within easy walking distance of Whole Foods, Navy Pier, and the Riverwalk. There are several nearby parking garages in addition to valet service. I wouldn't book self-parking through the hotel again, as better rates are available via ParkWhiz or SpotHero. The Ogden Park and AMC garages are the closest. Both offer EV spaces, though "active charging" isn't monitored, so availability can be hit or miss. None of the garages are connected to the hotel by skyways or elevators, so expect a short walk unless you valet. The large circular drive makes unloading and packing up easy. Depending on the season, there are two to three on-site restaurants, and vegan options are available. The hotel offers an indoor pool, with an outdoor pool open seasonally. Rooms are fairly clean and updated, with most featuring tall windows and city or lake views. Cons: The hotel felt very family-heavy during my stay, with more children than adults. The pool and lobby areas were often noisy, making it hard to relax or enjoy a peaceful atmosphere. Parking through the hotel is expensive, though more affordable options are available nearby if you're willing to arrange it yourself. Upgrades were limited, so I'd recommend booking the room type you truly want rather than expecting an upgrade. This was a birthday stay and noted in advance via Resy, but there was no acknowledgment at check-in or in the room. There's no refillable water station; instead, the hotel provides single-use plastic water bottles. Sound insulation is also lacking--street noise, sirens, and hallway sounds carried easily into the room. The valet was great. I believe we paid $75 or $95. Although I noticed a lot of ppl taking a uber. The lobby is beautiful and people actually congregated in the lobby to chatter or to relax by the big screen tv. Now. I bring Clorox wipes to every hotel and cleanse everything once we drop our luggage. I didn't find any dirt on those wipes... not the tub, shower, table and chair, refrigerator, remote, phone, bathroom floor, toilet...nada. The bed mattress was the best part of the room but the entire room was great. The walls were thin because we were able to hear talking and the opening of doors easily. Needed more sheets and towels for the room and the items were delivered quickly. We walked around since the hotel has store, restaurants and the pier nearby. I will return ;even though, my "go to" is The Kimpton. Now I have 2 hotels in the Chi that will get my dinero. I forgot to add the rooftop. We didn't gather but we saw people outside the window taking an advantage of that amenity. read more

Hey fellow Yelpers! This was my 2nd time coming to the Lowes Chicago Hotel in downtown Chicago for an event for this amazing organization that I'm part of called Step Up. The hotel staff were really friendly at the 3rd floor patio/terrace area and got me an adult beverage and asked if I wanted anything else. Very attentive staff! Keep up the amazing work! Atmosphere: This hotel feels hidden and looks very simple on the outside. Jane you walk inside, it feels modern and fancy. The bathrooms are located towards the back of the hotel and there's signage. The elevator to go to the patio area is on the left side as soon as you walk through the entrance. There are lots of places to sit and relax. Overall Experience: Overall, I've had a great experience coming to hotel for events. Simple and modern on the outside and cozy and fancy on the inside. The staff were very friendly. I stay at the Loews Chicago Hotel every time I fly out of O'Hare airport! Sure, there are some hotels closer to the airport (Loews is ~15 minutes away), but staying at one of those would sacrifice comfort for convenience. The luxury of the Loews Hotel is well worth leaving a little earlier to catch your flight! The guest rooms are perfect for meeting every traveler's needs: comfortable beds, enough space to store suitcases and garment bags, and bathrooms with modern amenities like a rain shower. Stayed here for Juneteenth weekend. Absolutely would recommend. The customer service was great, the room was beautiful, and the location + amenities make this a great place to stay. Regarding the lobby lounge we came for a drink at happy hour & for a late evening meal on another day. For happy hour cocktail it was gin so we could make whatever cocktail we wanted with it if they had the ingredients. We ordered a French 75 and an Elderflower collins, the gin was good & cocktails were good. For dinner we ordered the club sandwich & fries and Brussels. Absolutely delicious! The bartenders went out of their way to check on me (even asking me if I wanted extra salad dressing or offering iced water for me to take to go). The chopped salad was average, but I loved my cocktail - it was light, refreshing, not too sweet, and well-balanced. It was such a nice reprieve and turned my night around after the bad experience with Streeterville Social (the rooftop bar, which this review does not extend to). Had a great experience here from check in to check out. We stayed here for 3 nights. The valet came by to open our doors and help with luggage. Late check in was available and the check in lady explained all our benefits. The lobby was spacious with a fire pit and large TV. They also have a texting service which I used to get some firmer pillows and asked any questions that came up. Responses were always prompt. The room and bathroom were a good size and we had a view of their 3rd floor restaurant and terrace. Everything was clean and we got some decent toiletries. I was surprised at the coffee though. Although the room could use some TLC and my comforter was dirty on arrival the customer service was phenomenal. Sabrina the front desk agent went above and beyond to ensure that I had a comfortable stay and I'd return to receive that level of service alone. Victor at the bar was friendly enough but I did watch him a few nights short different patrons drinks, which isn't acceptable. This is the first time we stay at this hotel in Chicago. It is located in downtown and is so close to Michigan ave. Due to the location of this hotel which is so pretty convenience to all the places we want to go to therefore my boyfriend booked this hotel. With being in downtown the parking lot is about a block away from the hotel items. This parking lot is shared by a university, hotel hotel, and others . The parking lot is located in AMC theater building. It does cost per day, which is about $55 dollars per day. The staff are nice. We have been here for the last two nights. This our first time staying at a Loews and we really enjoyed it. The lobby is under construction, but the staff went out of their way to provide a Christmas decorated lobby in a different area. The drinks at the bar were tasty, our room was clean and well thought out, and room service even has food for pets! But on top of all that I don't know what I love the most - the staff or how family friendly the hotel is. This Loews truly has the friendliest most above and beyond staff of any hotel I've been to. Honestly! From the front desk to concierge to bartenders to housekeepers. Everyone was amazing! As for being family friendly, they offer cribs, a cart of kids books, complimentary hot cocoa, and go above and beyond to be helpful to us (we traveled with a 9 month old). Conferences here are hitting a low bar these days. I'm not impressed with their set-up, their terrible coffee and the lack of outlets for laptops. It's like being in 1995. We did a staycation recently here for a weekend night to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful, location is great, and the staff were wonderful. On check in, my kid was a bit cranky from the car ride into the city having his nap cut short and the staff immediate brought out some toys for him to have. We also had out pet staying with us and the had a doggy goodie bag prepared with clean stainless steel bowls, waste bags, and a souvenir dog tag. Our room was a nice corner suite with floor to ceiling windows of views of both Navy Pier and the Chicago River. The suite was very clean and tidy and very spacious for my wife and I our son and dog. Honestly, I can't think of anything to really complain about during our stay. The accommodations were very comfortable. And we all slept great, no noise from any neighbors or from outside that disturbed us. We did have a chance to check out the indoor pool and gym during our stay, and as expected were in pristine condition just as the rest of the hotel. If you're looking for somewhere to stay downtown and close to many attractions, Loews is a great option and is both pet and family friendly. There are windows on three walls of the suite. Great location but we booked it because chat got said it was a good family hotel and had a heated pool. The pool wasn't really kid friendly besides the floats. It's a lap pool and two adults were in there when we went with our kids ages 8,10, and six months. There aren't entrance stairs for kids so we only had the middle lane to swim in and we didn't want the other adults to feel annoyed. It just didn't feel like a pool meant for kids. I also only booked this because of the heated pool and it definitely didn't feel heated. The location is phenomenal, the staff was amazing and our only issue of water not draining in the shower was addressed in minutes. I would probably stay here alone with my husband but I'll look for another place when we come back as a family. It is walking distance to the children's museum at the navy pier so that's super convenient. Only other thing is overnight parking is $83 a night but there's parking steps away for $21 but we were too lazy to move our car so next time we will do that. They also have free warm baked cookies set out throughout the day. Was it worth 2k for two nights? No but was it a bad experience, also no. read more

Attending the hotel as a conference traveler Lowe's offered a high quality stay, conference space and customer service. The rooms are well designed with a clean feeling and bountiful amenities. The view of the Chicago skyline from the 8th floor was great and the spacious bathroom offers a feeling of openness and access. The conference space is well organized for both large and breakout events. It was easy to traverse the hotel to get to them, and get a quick stop in the room. The food catered on site was also delicious each day as well as classic Chicago staples they brought in. Lastly the staff was fully on point. Greeting me by first name many times they were friendly and helpful. The "lockout" test "cough" of my room had security up quickly to let me in and done with proper ID. The establishment felt safe from each angle and provided a sense of refined confidence. Only improvement feedback would be to have a shuttle to the loop public transit access, better marketing connection in room to on site dining, and out of state tax exemption acceptance. It was my favorite part of the whole experience, and I left the window open the majority of the time just to look at it! Even better was the fact that we were only on the ninth floor because not a fan of being wayyyyy up there to get a view. We also showed up at 930am and were able to check in that early. Pure luck! Great location off a less busy street made ride share pick ups a breeze. The pool was nice but loud since it's indoors and echos with kiddos playing. The coffee spot was decent. What happened to Loews Hotel Downtown? This used to be a brand with dignity, and quality. They used to make me feel special and welcomed. The high price was justified... back then. Those days are gone. This is a bad decision as far as hotels go in Chicago. The 5-star rating must be an accident because it really falls short of other 5-star and even 4-star hotels near this area. The biggest downfall is the friendly amazing customer-centric service that Loews hotel brand was famous for seems to have been forgotten. From the sophomoric manager, Thomas, all the way to the clumsy and condescending security, Muris, this hotel is the furthest thing from a "tightly ran ship". It was sad and a bit embarrassing to have to explain to Thomas (who didn't even introduce himself) why it wasn't ok to treat guests the way Muris and the staff at the rooftop terrace treated me. It was something I've never ever experienced before at a premium hotel property. I'm still wondering why they did me so dirty. Haha oh well. The room was not the greatest either it was far from the elevators and had a pretty sad view. All I could see was the gravel rooftop of the building next door. For $300+ a night, I guess I was hoping my room would make me happy and excited. It wasn't bad, but reminded me of a renovated Motel 6. I got a serious case of buyers remorse. All in all, I asked for a refund. They were kind enough to let me go and find a better deal, and I did. I found a 4 1/2 star hotel that gave me a better room, better view, and treated me nicely! All for less then what Loews was asking for. I'm glad I was now to save my night by staying elsewhere. No more Loews for this guy. After a couple stays they go above and beyond to ensure my stay is flawless and effortless. Any concerns have been addressed immediately, not passed along to someone in charge or a decision maker. It's just handled. I made the mistake of booking a suite at the Intercontinental for my birthday a year back and they stuffed me in a room that overlooked their antiquated HVAC system for triple the cost for a weekend stay. Throwing a cheap bottle of Champagne to make amends is hardly sufficient to make up for the lack or service and poor concierge available to guests. Shame on me for trying something new. The only thing I will say, is at 4+ stars, it's time for Loews Chicago to renovate their rooms. Carpet and furniture is beginning to show its age during my most recent visit. My go to in Chicago. Was a super late Saturday night and I just flew into Chicago by chance. I knew it was extremely late so I called around to a few local hotels to see which could accommodate me. Loews was one that told me they had a few more rooms but I would have to walk in because it was too late to book a reservation. I asked for the walk in price and was informed 205 a night. Based off of the others I called that was about in the same ballpark. I then took a 50 Dollar taxi ride to this hotel and asked the lady at the front desk if I could check in and I was pleasantly surprised. She informed me by no means could I check in and it had to be a prior reservation. I explained to her I called ahead and gave her my true sob story of the day. And I was turned away and not permitted to book a room for the night. She then told me that just about every hotel would do the same... I literally took a Uber a few minutes away and booked into another hotel with no issue at all. It amazes me that even though I was told by a company employee I could book a room there, I was immediately turned away. I would give them zero stars if I could, doesn't make sense to me to turn away money. So I'm just assuming the lady A profiled me, B didn't feel like processing a room, or C she was in a bad mood and took it out on me. read more

But the heater sounded like a jet engine and rattled a lot, so we slept in the cold (it was way below freezing outside). Nice toiletries. Stupid mini-fridge setup where you can't remove any of the minibar items without being charged for it - so it's worthless. Unimpressed with their restaurant for breakfast, and their Starbucks location is apparently owned by Loews and doesn't accept the Starbucks rewards stuff so they charged me for my free birthday drink.
