The Kinzie Hotel is a great place to stay if you are looking to spend a weekend in downtown Chicago. Valet parking makes it easy to get in and out, happy hour from 5:00-7:00 allows each guest 2 complimentary beers or wine to start off the night, a continental breakfast helps start the day, and close proximity to The Magnificent Mile insures a day/night of walking to amazing shopping, sites and restaurants. The room was comfortable, front desk staff friendly and helpful, valet prompt, and overall feeling very comfortable. I highly recommend The Kinzie anytime you want to stay in Chicago.

We spent four nights at the Kinzie hotel. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay. It is in a convenient location - walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and several of the city sites. That is very convenient. If you have your car, there is a parking garage right across the street that is affordable with In-N-Out privileges. The hotel is clean and modern and our room had decent views. The lobby is fresh and bright. And the lounge is nice. There is an included continental breakfast, and free beverages from 5 to 7 PM. I rarely drink alcohol, but I know a lot of people were enjoying it. The reason that I did not give five stars is very simply I believe the restroom needed better lighting, and our bed was at a weird angle. Also, I think they could add some artwork to the lobby and the hallway. But that's just me nitpicking. Oh yeah... And they only offer Pepsi products, not Coca-Cola. :-) Overall, it was clean, comfortable, located in a very convenient location and an enjoyable stay. We will probably be back.

The location is great as it's very walkable to shopping, restaurants and plenty of local attractions. The service was excellent! Very friendly staff and we were able to check in early. The free happy hour drinks were greatly appreciated...which includes two drinks per person, of draft beer or wine. The room was spacious, however there were the motorized bathroom fan was a bit noisy especially at night, and we were able to hear the other room when they were opening their blinds in the morning. The toilet also had a brown stain that was dripping from the tank into the bowl. We also could hear the garbage truck doing their early morning pickups which woke us up both mornings.

Wow this hotel surprised me! I originally booked a different hotel then switched to this one to save some money. I am so happy I did! This hotel is located a block from the riverwalk and very close to the Metra train lines. When I arrived I did not think much of the lobby because it was basically very bland with a giant horse statue above the door. However my mind changed when I got to the room. The room is extremely beautiful and very well organized. Truly remarkable how the thought of every little detail. Now I normally am not a fan of resort fees. However, this hotel has a FREE happy hour every night. It also has a free breakfast too. Overall this is a fantastic hotel that is centrally located in the city of Chicago. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel and the room was nice. Location was good. Downsides were that check in took way too long with only one person working right at check in time on a weekend. The staff member was very friendly though and handled the long line well. Also, the room was freezing. It was uncomfortably cold, so for that reason, I would not stay again during the winter.

My stay at the Kinzie definitely wasn't a four, but it wasn't a three. Solid three and a half. I booked through a third party to use travel credits, so my stay was paid for upfront. I don't usually do that, but the credits were due to expire soon. Upon check-in I was told that there was a "resort fee" of $27/day additional. Not a huge deal, but adds up if you are staying for more than a night or two. The Kinzie does offer free happy hour (wine and possibly beer, popcorn) from 5-7 and breakfast, so we made sure to get our $27 worth, but it does not offer other amenities like a pool or room service (the website said it does, but after asking the front desk they said it does not). They also charge a $500 deposit, which again isn't unreasonable, however there was a huge dent in the credenza and a stain on the headboard (didn't look dirty, just stained), which you would think they would be repairing with the money they are taking for the deposit. Overall, a pretty good location and does have some decent perks (breakfast even had Jimmy Dean sandwiches for takeaway, which, even though I didn't eat was a cool option). Just don't expect anything amazing!

A nice hotel in a good area to walk to many attractions nearby. We stayed a night at this hotel since we had tickets to a local show. We were happy with the overall service and accommodations. They have a happy hour 5-7 and you're allowed to get two drinks and they have popcorn and pretzel snacks. They offer beer (taps: a local lager and miler liter) and wines. The hotel bed was comfortable and overall decent. Service was friendly and helpful. They offer a continental breakfast which was average. We enjoyed the one night stay and would check them out again. A tad bummed for no pool given the cost of the hotel. Also, if you have a car it's $71 a night to have it at the hotel.

This place is so good, I found a really good deal and it would have been a great deal at twice the price. Every worker there would greet you with a smile and a goodmorning of goodnight depending on time of the day. This place is super close to the river and the red line train (easy way to get to Wrigley). The brekfast was ok for a free brekfast. The afternoon happy hour was pretty good, beer, wine, and small snacks like nuts and popcorn. Only thing I didn't like was both days I was there we were woken by the dumpsters being picked up by a garbage truck (not the hotels fault, just a heads up). Rooms are huge, especially for downtown Chicago. Multiple restaurants near by that offer late night food. If you're brave enough (or have enough liquid courage) Billy Goat Tavern is like a 5 minute walk. All in all great place to stay, would definitely recommend.

The Kinzie Hotel was fine for a boutique hotel of this nature. It's pretty "light" on services and guest amenities: such as the breakfast and any snacking offerings. The breakfast was located each morning inside one of the hotel's interior rooms without any windows. The snack and drink offerings consisted of a tiny rack of chips behind the front desk. The hotel lobby is quite small and somewhat cramped. I really liked the room I reserved. It was a 1-bedroom suite--and, as far as hotels go, enormous!! The building was also pretty solid In the sense that it isolated street noise to a large degree. My room was only on the third floor and at first I was nervous that the street noise would be an issue. Happily, it never became an issue. If you are looking for a smaller, boutique hotel with an excellent River North location, I would definitely keep the Kinzie Hotel on your short list. However, don't expect much in the way of frills or amenities.

Is this hotel within walking distance to the beach?

What beach? You're in Chicago, not Miami. :-)

    Is parking free?

We didn't have a car, but from what I understand there is a fee for parking. Best to call the hotel or visit their website. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

This hotel was located within the loop near the river, shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel rooms are basic and small. We were fortunate to get an upgraded room with two queen beds and an amazing view out the window of the city. The window was large and clean. The beds were comfy with ample pillows. Four pillows were provided. The hotel set up is a bit awkward. Room is best for one person as lacks storage for large luggage. Plus there is not a defined bathroom. The shower is within the bedroom. Fortunately the shower was frosted but you walk right into the bedroom so you must be comfortable with those you stay with. Plus the room does really have a deck and chair to work. The desk is a fold down from the wall. The chair for the deck is located on the wall and not really suitable for long term working on sitting as does not have a back to it. The best thing above this hotel are the staff. The front desk staff are super friendly and accommodating and aim to please. The bartender was super friendly and attentive as well. Lastly parking is not available right at the hotel. You have to walk two blocks. Plus parking cost 59 dollars and that's the discounted rate. Also not really a suitable place to drop luggage off. If you pull up to the front door, you are blocking traffic. Base on price of 400 dollars the night we stayed, I would say it's not worth the stay. Maybe it's worth 200 or less for Chicago.

While searching hilton.com for a hotel to stay at on the day of my birthday, Hampton Inn Majestic…read moreChicago Theatre District was the first to pop-up within Chicago. I want to say that I have had my eye on this hotel for a while now after looking for Hilton hotel locations with a peloton bike, which this one has. Other than that, I loved that the location of this hotel sits in the heart of Chicago, surrounding a plethora of activities which made it the perfect choice for hotel stay to celebrate. Okay, it was an experience going up to the lobby area to check in at this hotel, a blonde moment as I am known for if you follow my reviews. The lobby is located on the 4th floor, so be sure to choose "L" for the lobby because there is no 4th floor button listed in the elevator. Me and two other hotel guests had an adventure going up to the lobby area after trying to figure out where the 4th floor button was. My experience with the receptionist working behind the desk was nothing less than professional. Since my room was already booked through Hilton Honors, the only thing check-in consisted of was a verification of my information, a briefing on what is offered, and the receptionist giving me my room key. For your information, check-in starts at 4:00 PM and check-out ends at 12:00 PM! If you have the Hilton honors application, there is the opportunity to check in with the application, choosing your room, and receiving a digital key, which will allow you to go to your room contactless without seeing a receptionist upon your arrival. I have not used this method, but if you are interested in no contact whatsoever then you can use it with the Hilton Honors application. After locating and entering my room, I thought to myself this is fancy once I took notice of the design and interior color which appeared so elegant! There was a variation of vibrant colors in the room from its curtains to the headboard of the king-size bed, the carpet, and a gold chair that looked like something out of your grandmother's house. Out of all, I just could not take my eyes off the curtains which reminded me of cherry blossoms because of the colors. Inside the bathroom there were liquid products by Gilchrist & Soames Zero% attached to the wall. Throughout my travels, I have noticed that hotels have completely dealt away with the mini shampoo, bath soap, and conditioner products that made great travel hygiene additions. Along with those notable things inside of the room, it met my cleanliness standards. I had no issues whatsoever getting comfortable in the king-sized bed during my stay as my head was engulfed in between the comfortable pillows. While utilizing the shower, I really enjoyed the water pressure; its soothing pressure made me feel very cleansed during each usage. It was wonderful toggling with the spray patterns, with the addictive feel of the pressure hitting my face and body. Other things the room came with that I noticed were a comforter, an iron, ironing board, blow dryer, safe, comforter, a coffee maker (Hamilton Beach), a mini refrigerator, microwave, and USB and AC plugins attached to either the headboard of the bed, lamps, or the television cabinet, which added a nice touch to the room. And the Wi-Fi internet was easy to connect to and not once did I have any connectivity issues with it during my stay. Hampton Inn Majestic, as expected, had an exceptionally beautiful inner interior! As a fitness enthusiast, it was great having a fitness center onsite because it allowed me to keep up with my fitness routines during my stay. I must say that I was pleased to see several dumbbell weights, medicine balls, kettlebells, a decent selection of workout machines, and two peloton fitness bikes which charmed me out of my panties once I spotted them. And oh, honey did I enjoy it on my birthday with the lovely Hannah Frankson as my peloton instructor, who put my legs through torture during her low impact workout. Having the complimentary breakfast was a relief because I did not have to worry about finding a restaurant for breakfast in the morning. And I was highly satisfied with the quality of what was presented. It is served daily from 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM. For you all visiting the city of Chicago, there are plentiful sights, activities, and restaurants within a radius of Hampton Inn Majestic. As a resident, a few that I adore are Willis Tower, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute of Chicago! Next door is the CIBC Theatre, which I noticed upon my initial arrival at the hotel. And if you are looking to explore the city or outer part of the city, the Chicago Union Station, and CTA Train Station are very accessible to-and-from. I would surely book Hampton Inn Majestic Chicago Theatre District again due to my experience with it because the hotel met my comfort needs, and I loved that its location is within an accessible distance of things of interest in downtown Chicago. ~ Live every moment ~ Thomas G

Hampton Inn majestic will let you relive the Chicago fire!!!…read more Was not a fan of their elevators since they kept jumping from levels 6 and 7 and would randomly stop without being called. The last Hampton inn I got stuck in the elavator and had an off experience with getting help, so I chose to use the stairs. Upon using the stairs we were met with SEVERAL linen boxes blocking our only exit. They were all in different directions and could not be easily rolled out, especially when we were blocked behind them. Instead we had to parkour over it to escape. There was a valet driver sitting at the front and ignored us after I asked for help and continued to say she's just valet she can't do anything. These bins were there for well over an acceptable time, blocking the only stairs and fire safety exit but also for people that didn't enjoy their sketchy elevators. And again, pallets were there days later also blocking the ONLY emergency exit and stairwell exit. Completely unacceptable in a normal city let alone one with history of building fires. Exits should not be blocked and it's clear the building uses this space for "storage" often. Before the fire situation even happened, their breakfast situation was insane. Our first morning was on a Monday. Their service is until 10 am and around 9am we headed down for some fuel. By that time, the dining room was packed, the tiny buffet room was empty of food but packed with people who were waiting for tables, chairs and all of the food to be restocked. One woman was trying to run the whole operation while two men just stood behind the concierge desk and watched the shit show of breakfast service happen in front of them. Someone should have helped her get breakfast together. Even if it wasn't their job, in hospitality, their job as hotel manger or anyone who works in the hotel is to make sure the guest have a pleasant stay, not to look pretty sitting in front of the Hampton inn welcome to Chicago sign. Overall unorganized and not something nice to look at when you first walk into a hotel lobby, chaos. You would think the grievances would stop there. However we were then denied the benefits that we get as gold Hilton members. Previously at hiltons and Hilton branches we have been offered two bottles of water per room per day. Most of the time they would be offered upon check in (which they did not) and given daily throughout our stay. This time the concierge allowed my mom just to go grab them out of the fridge. The next day we did the same and the concierge Robyn gave me immediate backlash even after I said we were previously allowed to take them. She repeatedly said I was wrong and gave no hospitality to hear my side of the story. I didn't want to cause a scene and returned my water. She then slammed them onto our table as I was eating breakfast with my family. Definitely could have been better ways for her to deal with the problem and I did not appreciate the hostility coming from the concierge at 9 am. We were already all crammed at a small table because there are no seating arrangements easily accessible for families or even enough seats in the dining room. One star because housekeeping did great and my room was clean and refreshed when necessary (and because zero is not an option) Otherwise I would hope I never have to stay here again.

The staff were somewhat friendly until different things started to come up... 1st issue: Friday night the elevators completely stopped working. Big problem due to having a small infant and needing to get the stroller down. We were staying on the 10th floor. But an even bigger problem was that we started to notice floods of people come on our floor and notify us that there was not an exit even via the stairs!!!! My husband got on the phone with the front desk and the reply was "you are just going to have to wait for the elevator." This was completely unacceptable and UNSAFE- what if there was a fire? What if something dangerous was happening and we couldn't get out of the building? This itself would have landed this hotel at a 1-2 rating. The elevator issue didn't fill resolve itself for our whole stay- only 2/3 were in service and they took 5-10 minutes to show up each time. Seriously inconvenient. 2nd issue: they put one of our rooms (we had 3 groups) literally next to the pool. Kids were screaming their heads off beginning at 6:30am and it would carry on until 10pm. When SIL called down to the front desk she was told "sorry that's just how it is and it should quiet down soon." Again, completely unacceptable. We had young children and infants who needed to nap and go to bed early. 3rd issue: we asked for a late check out since our flight was later and we needed to get our baby to take a nap- after all of these issues they said they would extend it to 1:00, which was nice. We did then ask if it could be extended another hour and we were told it would cost $25. Fine... what was not fine was when there was banging on our door and someone walked in at 1:25pm to clean the room. It woke up our baby and completely defeated the purpose of us extending our late check out and paying the extra $25. 4th issue: apparently they don't clean the rooms unless you are staying for 3 or more nights? We didn't know about this and assumed we would get new towels since there is a sign in the bathroom saying "hang towels to reuse" or "if you would like new ones, place them on the floor". We needed new towels so we followed what it said and then were told our rooms wouldn't be cleaned or even checked to see if we needed new towels. Good things I will say: - very convenient area - provided a pack n play - Starbucks in the hotel - hotel room was clean Would have love for this stay to have been better since the Marriott is well known and usually a great place to stay.... but the lack of customer service makes it hard to want to book another room at a Marriott hotel.

We were also sent a bottle of wine and snacks to our room. I loved that they have a free spa area where you can use the sauna, heated stone loungers, and cold showers. The pool was stunning and we enjoyed swimming, just wish the hot tub was hotter as it was lukewarm. The room was great as well with a Nespresso machine and relaxing tub. Every time we stepped out of the room we would come back to a nice surprise, the room would be cleaned or they would leave the water and ice. Very attentive customer service here. Overall it was nice to live in luxury for the night, highly recommend if you're looking to splurge and relax! Hope I'll be able to stay again someday.

The Langham is going down as one of my favorite hotels and arguably for sure top 5…read more The room was amazing and I was very impressed by the birthday set up my wife arranged with the hotel and a third party vendor. Our view was stunning and I loved I could see downtown and the river from our room. We booked the cinema suite for a cute movie night and I loved that. They had a cute popcorn station with candy and pop, plus you can order room service. The spa was amazing and the facilities were nice.

I've been to Miru many times and finally got to try out the hotel for a staycation…read more Pros: -I loved that they had two restaurant options in the hotel. Both have incredible views but I would definitely recommend having at least one meal on the Miru patio if you are there during nice weather. -I was most surprised by their massive gym and has stunning views. It's also open 24 hours. They offered Pilates classes as well for an extra fee. -the hotel is brand new and all the finishes are so high end. The rooms are clean and quiet. The hallways are huge and felt like a maze to navigate but it also added to feeling of privacy. -there were so many high end details that made it extra special (the cozy Frette bath robes, welcome drinks, treat box in the room upon arrival, and the accent lighting in the room). -the location. It's just across the river from the heart of Michigan ave on the north end of a residential development. You don't feel like you are in the middle of the chaos of the city but the park, lake front and river are footsteps away. Negatives: -view was underwhelming ( fourth floor river view . Might choose the park view next time. I'd also recommend not facing the river as there was lots of honking/noise. -the room layout was awkward. They have this huge desk between the bed and tv. The full length mirror is a down a long hallway from bathroom/ where you would be getting dressed. -the room service comes on these huge heavy trays. The staff seemed like they were straining under the weight of it/ it was awkward. -I'd probably skip the spa/massage -$90/ day parking. Was able to do a spothero for about $40 next door.

This hotel has it all from Pilates, to Barre to Yoga to their Athletic Club and Pool…read more The only complaint is that it's not bunched with the other hotels, its toward the end of Wacker next to the lake. So, walking from the Blackbawks shop when it's 20° isn't an easy task. Also, I wasn't able to try the Tre Dita since I didn't book a reservation in advance. Hopefully, I can schedule a reservation in the future. Plus, since it was mid-December, the St Regis had their third annual 12 Days of Sabrage, which guests of honor perform the evening ritual of champagne sabrage, which celebrates the transition from day to night. They offered complimentary toast of champagne and a Vosges Haut-Chocolate truffle. The hotel encouraged everyone to bring a new or lightly used winter clothing for children in need.
