Beautiful light and airy space! Brand new pedicure chairs that are very comfortable! The products all smell amazing. The salon does not have the normal acetone smell you have in other salons. there's a parking garage behind the building, took a minute to find but they will validate so that's a plus. Overall impression - it's fine but wouldn't come back. I came in at 5 on a Thursday, & there were three techs, two servicing each other and one attending another customer. I ended up waiting 15-20 minutes until the techs were done with each other to get seated. Off putting but maybe that's just me. I left with my color pretty streaky and even after telling two different people, nothing was changed. It looks fine enough from far away and the shape was good so I didn't fight too hard. They also have no dryers?? So had to wait even longer for them to be dry enough. Idk if you're looking for no thrills and mediocre then this place works. read more

So unprofessional. I will never go back here. Charged me $126 for a gel pedicure and dip manicure, which is already quite steep. I venmoed the technician for tip. Then she proceeded to call and text me asking for more money hours after I paid and left. She claimed I was undercharged and said I owed $29 more for the service. This morning I woke up to a venmo request of $49 from her. I have never in my life experienced such borderline stalker level service from a salon before. I have been going to this place for 3 years and have had no issues. I went to get a dip manicure and Jessica Dao was my nail technician. I was simply deciding on what color I wanted to get and she told me "don't waste my time I have another client". The whole time was looking at the clock rushing through my appointment, cut me multiple times with the nail files. Horrible experience and will not be going there ever again. OOH! The infamous Ivy Nails that holds top popularity on yelp. I finally tried it this past Sunday and will forever be true to them. Number one reason why is they are CLEAN. Each nail package is individually sanitized and wrapped. Baby Jesus has blessed me and not given me a fungal infection despite my numerous pedicures I get. I also was impressed how well the nail techs spoke English. It was nice to be able to ask questions about their services. Their manicure was unconventional which I adored. Instead of using water to soften the cuticles, they place your hands in warm mittens while giving you a gentle massage. This, the tech explained, is better than water. I do agree. As others have stated, park in the parking garage. It's free and they are on top of ensuring you get your ticket validated. While they could stand to use some more colors, the selection was good enough. I bring my own colors most of time, anyway. Unless they end up doing me wrong, Ivy Nails is my new place! read more

Well..... In town and desperately needed a manicure as well as a repair of a nail that broke and it really hurt (it broke way down). It needed some big time glue/powder/love & attention as my manicurist back home would have given it, so it would have grown out in about 5 weeks or so. The "plus" to Ivy, and why I chose it based on all of the Yelp reviews is that the salon was very clean. However, while the warm mitts were nice, without a soak of my cuticles, I realized a few hours later that my hands really didn't look any different, AND the glue that had been put on? Came right off. I could have just bought some Super Glue at CVS (which I might do tonight) and have done it myself. I wound up taking off the polish so that I could soak/moisturize my cuticles, and try to get some of the glue off, so basically my manicure was just for a few hours. read more

I have gotten several gel manicures over the last few months, and have been pleased after every manicure. My nails always look perfect for 2-3 weeks after getting them done. I have recommended Ivy to several friends who also have had great experiences! Amy is my go-to but I love all of the nail technicians. They all have amazing attention to detail, plus a complimentary back and hand massage. They are always able to squeeze me in even if I call the day of to book an appointment. When you're cursed with size 14 flippers, you pretty much avoid wearing shoes if at all possible, since it's damn near guaranteed that whoever made them did so under the threat of some sort of bizarre class-action lawsuit, not out of any desire to make a comfortable shoe. So having said that, I'm a firm believer that if you're going to expose your bare or sandaled foot to the rest of the world, you should at least have the courtesy to make sure they're as well-groomed as possible. Nothin' says class and sophistication like a mangled, gnarly foot sticking out of a pair of funked-up flip flops. And there's absolutely nothing more antiseptic than waking up in the morning and having your SO rub their big, crusty feet against your leg :( To that end, I got a pedicure at Ivy Nails this Labor Day weekend. It's located in back of GMU (where I went to grad school), but it honestly wasn't until I saw Rachel's review that I found out about this place. I was impressed when I walked in: bright and airy, minimalist décor, with one of those 40-inch LCD mind bombs strategically located so you can view it from pretty much anywhere in the room. Thankfully for my sake, they were playing an old episode of "Grounded for Life" and not Sex and the City :) I was greeted promptly and immediately ushered into one of those pedicure throne dealies with the built-in heat and massage. My technician, Annette, was very friendly and professional. After brewing a cup of coffee for me, she began clipping, buffing and sloughing my feet. I'd love to be able to go into more detail, but frankly, I was soooo relaxed that I was kind of zoning in and out of consciousness! But three things that are important to me stood out: 1. The cuticle trimming was very, very gentle. I've been to some places that have cut me or caused me a good amount of pain. I could barely tell that I was having my cuticles trimmed, that's how careful my technician was. 2. They have this incredible foot scrub that smells like oranges which they massage into your feet and legs. I was about ready to melt into the chair at one point! 3. While I won't say I got the hands-down best massage of my life, Annette avoided my two cardinal peeves: fist-beating (you know, where they take their fists and punch the bejeezus out of your legs) and kneading your legs like they were trying to extract information out of you (aka the "Jack Bauer massage"). The verdict: if you've been to Pearl River (located in Ballston) the experience is almost identical. The prices are reasonable, and there's an emphasis on cleanliness that you don't see at many places (here, they opened up a fresh set of tools from a sealed plastic bag, and I also saw my technician start to scrub down the footbath as I was getting up to leave). You can't go wrong by going here, and I'll definitely stop by again! Note: you can pay with plastic, but you can't put the tip on your card, so be sure to bring some cash with you. read more

I went to Ivy based solely on Yelp reviews and I wasn't disappointed. The thing with nail salons that aren't at an upscale spa is that there is almost always that "risk" you have to take on their cleanliness... and typically there is a language barrier or lack of customer service. Ivy avoids all of these typical pitfalls, though, and is probably the best nail salon I've been to. They are incredibly friendly and service oriented, their services are meticulous and of great quality and they are so very CLEAN! They use a new batch of sealed tools on each customer. I sat down and another customer got up and an employee started cleaning her area immediately. Everything is sanitized to the core, which is very reassuring when bath jets are involved. I will definitely make this my lunch-break nail salon and look forward to returning. One note - it is a bit hard to find. It's just behind the Giant on Washington Blvd but you have to park in the garage and come out of the office building to get to it - it's near the Quizno's. read more
