Iwalan's is a shave ice trailer that moves throughout the Las Vegas valley. Today, it was outside a weed dispensary close to home so we went to give it a try. The bar is high on my end due to my fascination and love of Hawaiian shave ice. I have spent many days touring Oahu and Maui looking for their islands best. So to start in going to say, this is actually legit shaved ice. It's not snow cone garbage, which is what almost all shave ice in vegas is. This is actual Hawaiian shaved ice that you'd get on the islands, by island people. I ordered a custom shaved ice and my wife got the creamsicle. Absolutely took me back to September in Oahu. The 4 star is because we both had some clumps of hard ice, not may, but a few. The flavors are amazing, the shave is absolutely legit, and what they really need is a brick and mortar store in Silverado ranch since that is a high islander area. Stopped by on Sunday to try Iwalani's shaved ice. I always miss Hawaii so this is one way to feel connected. The line was steady and they have a call out number system to let you know when to get your shaved ice from the window, so very efficient. It took 15-20 minutes and it was 103 so it was hot. They have a few standing tables but it's not covered so we ate in the car. Most people there did just that, as well. I had the orange dream. One of my sons had to ask for more syrup because the center didn't have any. After that it was good to the last spoonful. The flavors were great. Definitely a great treat any day of the week! I've been hearing about this food truck on social media so I absolutely had to try it. I've been craving Hawaiian shaved ice since the summer started and when I saw that they were by my area I just HAD to go. I got there around 30 minutes after it opened but there was already a small crowd up and around already! With the small crowd the line to order wasn't a long wait, it was waiting for the order. I think I waited 10-15 minutes but its also understandable because they are a food truck and they actually give out orders by number order instead of skipping numbers, which is good! The shaved ice, ate it all immediately. I ordered the Hawaiian Rainbow with a scoop of ice cream. I love how they put the ice cream underneath so that it doesnt fall off and make it messy, so smart! Also the most cleanest shaved ice ive ever eatenThe apperance was good and for the flavor? Amazing and refreshing. You can absolutely tell that they make their own syrups. Even with the rainbow you can taste each flavor and it doesnt contradict each flavor. They set up small standing tables but I was able to enjoy this in the car. Not usually a fan of shaved ice but was convinced to come try it because of their great social media pictures and unique flavors. I tried the mango sticky rice flavor which was amazing. My daughter has been wanting to try Iwalani's and we were able to catch their truck in Southern Highlands. They post where they will be on their socials. The 2 ladies were so friendly and helped us order by giving us their recommendations. My daughter got a small bowl with cherry, watermelon & strawberry and I got the Mango Sticky Rice. All the specialty flavors looked so good! If you go with the bowl you can customize it in so many ways. We both enjoyed our shave ice. The small bowl was completely covered in syrups vs the mango sticky rice had just the toppings on top and underneath was mostly plain ice. It was still good though. The best shaved ice that has ever been made. Went to check this place out about a half hour before it closed and it did not disappoint . The customer service is a little bit standoffish. They don't have any recommendations and it was just two young girls that are kind of sitting at a table staring at you waiting for you to order. We ended up getting like the Ube on some ice cream inside along with a coconut mango. I asked beforehand which flavors were natural without dye or flavoring and it's the coconut, strawberry and mango! It was really smooth and light, sweet but not wear it overpowers the flavors. Have a sweet tooth and need a sugar fix, especially in the Vegas heat? Iwalani's is a shaved ice food truck you should be on the lookout for. My cousin sent me their Instagram reel just as the temperature was creepin' up to the 90s, and it didn't disappoint when the hubby and I got to visit them parked at a convenient location for us. From their Instagram, it looks like they like to drive around the southeast and southwest side of town. They also seem on top of keeping their followers updated about their weekly scheduled locations and times. What I really appreciated was that it was a good variety of times, especially afternoon. Smart planning since most of the heat will kick in around 12pm, but also still reasonable for their team to be done (usually by 8pm). Looks like the also used to serve Hawaiian food, so I can appreciate the business pivot when Vegas is starting to feel oversaturated with Hawaiian restaurants. Anyway, their team is super nice and will make honest recommendations to their customers! LOL. The hubby should've listened to them about the Root Beer flavor being meh. Prices were up to par on a storefront dessert spot. If I remember correctly, I spent around $25 with gratuity. Experience also doesn't seem worth it unless you go for one of their specials, which is a variation on classic tropical shaved ice flavor combinations.
