Wow, I got 2 deluxes and those pork pieces were so small. It totals about 2 slices at a legitimate place. It also wasn't fatty enough. It's supposed to be pretty fatty pork in ramen. Maybe because it was taken out, prices are too high for something that's done half way. They don't accept credit cards. They're trying to save 2.5% percent but they're losing business. I was so excited to give this place a try! My friend has been here a couple times before and he swears the takoyaki here is the best you can probably get in the neighborhood, so we definitely had to order that. I loved the edamame that they served! It was nice and refreshing and topped with spicy chili powder that made it all the more delicious. We ordered a ramen each: I got a black garlic ramen, and he got the Mazemen. The broth for the ramen was pretty good. It didn't really pack a punch in the flavor department but it did the job and provided a great base for the noodles. The noodles and ingredients were all really good....except the cha siu. I have never been more let down by one ingredient. The cha siu was super dry and did not taste fresh. Having worked in the food industry before, I know that many restaurants and establishments have things that are prepped beforehand. But the cha siu here was just SOOOO dry. That's something that needs to be fixed, either maybe the way they cook it the first time, maybe the way they store it, or maybe even the way they reheat it. Something needs to happen there. Izakaya Ajimi definitely shows great potential to be a really great establishment. The food is not bad, but not quite right. Hope that they do better next time! read more

Rare to see a true izakaya like this open up in Bensonhurst. The interior is cozy but quite spacious still. You can tell a lot went into the details of the restaurant. Food-wise they have a great menu, the oysters, yakitori, and sashimi mix salad were all delicious. We had the beef skewers and two different ramens. The interior of this place is nice and the staff are attentive. The beef skewers we had were super tasty and tender. They're a bit pricey for how tiny the skewers were but they were definitely high quality. The miso ramen and black garlic ramen were both delicious. The noodles are bouncy and had just the right texture and bite to it. The soup broths were flavorful and very clean tasting. There was not a strong aftertaste that remains like in many other ramen places I've been to. The Chashu was melt in your mouth. not gonna lie im HIGHLY impressed. there's honestly not any good ramen spots in this brooklyn vicinity (benson, dyker, sunset, sheepshead, gravesend, bay ridge) came here with some friends and it was actually surprisingly good! He came back immediately followed by who I assume is the manager who PHYSICALLY BLOCKED HIS WAY TO THE BATHROOM. When I asked what happened my bf said let's just go. First of all I NEVER leave reviews but I had to get this off my chest My sister ordered the "Spicy Wings" with this very sad looking Angus Burger (like only bun, patty and lettuce?) The waitress seemed to be in a rush when asking what we'd like and had no answers for the simplest of questions i.e "how many wings come with this order?" and "how much extra would it be if I added eggs?" Our food was served as a decent time and once that was served the waitress commenced sitting down at a nearby table and eating (Im assuming she was in a hurry because of that). Now, she never came to check on us but when I managed to flag her down for the desert menu she literally hovered over us right then and there to pick what desert we wanted like damn can we get FIVE mins to look over. Due to the pressure we ended up going with some cheesecake thing but the presentation was so weird we decided to have it sent back and get the bill instead. She tried to insist that we accept the untouched and bland cheesecake but I was adamant about not wanting it. Very weird energy she had. ALL this for her to FINALLY tell me they were cash only and pointed out the smallest sign. I was fuming not only because how how she acted but because when I got up to go to the ATM (that she directed me too MIND YOU) she was literally HOVERING over my sister that was waiting there for me (ike this because she recorded the waitress). Great staff, food is on point and delicious! It has really good stuff that's on the same quality of the city's izakaya. My fiancé and I passed by the place and said we couldn't wait to give it a try. I've been here twice since they've opened and it's such a great addition to the neighborhood since there weren't any authentic ramen spots in the area prior. I wasn't a huge fan of the Tantan ramen the first time I visited but I knew I had to give this place another chance. Ordered the miso ramen the second time I came and really enjoyed it. The ramen was nice and flavorful in the broth and all the ingredients in the ramen were complimenting each other from the soft boiled egg to the charsiu and other veggies such as corn and some green onions. The appetizers are good as well- enjoyed the chicken baos and the spicy mixed which was a crunchy spicy Kani salad with some seafood in there.
