Only had their pupusas and plátanos y frijoles. Very tasty. I like the chicharrón pupusas. The wife prefers the revueltas. All good.

Worst ensalada de fruta ever! Lady was upset when I asked if it was fresh. No fresh diced up fruit or Nances! We gotta do better or not even open restaurants! To make matters worse I took a non-Salvadoran homie after I hyped the "ensalada de fruta". I told him delete all files this one doesn't count.

My Mom was craving homestyle breakfast and we decided to try this place. It did not disappoint. The service as well as the food was delicious and hit the spot! I'm definitely going back for more.

The vegan plate had black beans, white rice, plantains, and a side salad. The bandeja paisa had beans, a fried egg, chicharron, steak, rice, plantain, and chorizo. The meat was perfectly grilled but the chicharron was a little tough but still good. The vegan plate had much flavor -- the beans were tasty and the rice fresh. They were very generous with the plantains. The complimentary tortilla chips and salsa were so fresh and delicious. The spinach empanada was a little tough - it was crispy but there was less spinach than I would have expected and the cheese in it wasn't really melted either. Overall the food was very fresh and delicious. Parking can be tricky bc their lot fits only 3 cars. We parked a couple blocks in the neighborhood. Front of the store parking also seems limited. Service was kind and efficient. Food came out in less than 5-10 minutes. Place is well decorated and has nice seemingly traditional decor inside.

We drove an hour to get here and arrived right when they opened. The gentleman at the counter greeted us warmly and asked if we'd ever had Puerto Rican food before. We told him about our trip and how much we'd loved the food, and from there, he proceeded to walk us through every single item on the menu--including the drinks and desserts. He was incredibly welcoming and clearly proud of the food they serve. After plenty of deliberation, we finally placed our orders. We started with the bacalaitos--a thin, crispy cod fritter served with garlic sauce. A tad greasy, yes, but what a treat! Then came what we had driven an hour for: the mofongo. Between the three of us, we ordered the pernil (slow-roasted pork shoulder), the churrasco with chimichurri, and the shrimp with garlic sauce. These are definitely not light meals, but WOW. The flavors were impeccable--rich, garlicky, savory, and incredibly satisfying. It immediately brought back memories of the food we loved so much in Puerto Rico. Needless to say, we found our mofongo spot. And yes, we will absolutely make the trek again.

I had the carnas fritas which was a fried pork, and it was a little hard and chewy, but still quite good (is that normal?). The fried chicken on mofongo was much softer. We took home a flan de queso for dessert and it was great! It was a flan pudding but thicker, closer to a cheesecake thickness, and absolutely wonderful.

This time, I ordered two pupusas and then their pastelitos. Pasteles de res. First things first- the restaurant is easy to find and parking isn't too bad! There are some spots in the back, but I've found street parking easily both times I've gone. Inside, the restaurant is decorated with all sorts of nods to El Salvador, including a super iconic soccer jersey and even some Salvi beers. The workers were all friendly and accommodating. The food is GREAT!! The pupusas are good. Cortido is awesome. I really liked the pasteles, even though I've only had handmade before, so I was skeptical, but they were so good, I devoured way more than I meant to!! I really did mean to have leftovers from my order, but I only have one remaining pastele- they come with three to an order. I will continue ordering from here and hopefully I'll have a chance to eat at the restaurant next time! So good!
