We had made reservations to eat here at this restaurant due to never eating here before. Due to traffic we were unable to make our reservation on time and when we arrived they said they could still accommodate us. After waiting for about 10 min they came to tell us they no longer could accommodate us unless we were willing to wait 2 hours which we did not want to do. The ambiance in the restaurant was very beautiful. Even the bathroom was very nice. The menu you looked like it was going to have some good food but unfortunately we would not be able to stay and see about it due to the long wait.

I went for dinner last night with 2 friends. The meal was good and I received helpful advice from our server on what wine to get based on my palate preference. My veggie burger was delicious and the shoelace fries equally addicting. Unfortunately, after we ordered coffee following our meal, our server completely disappeared. We waited 20 mins for the dessert menu and a 2nd cup of coffee but then left.

Came here for a nice date night pre-show dinner before going to see a play at Drury Lane. The waitstaff was attentive and the food was great. I had the pecan coated trout which was good. I switched the coleslaw side for the broccoli and it was very good. Perfect cooked. The trout could have had more sauce on it. My husband had the pork chop and also liked that a lot. I also had a fleur-de-lis martini that was delicious. The place is large and was a great date night location. I would suggest it for dinner if you are in the area and looking for a nicer dinner experience.

The food here is pretty good. The drinks were very good. The portion size of the dishes were big. The waiter was really nice. We even met the manager, she brought over the complimentary birthday carrot cake which was moist and good. I just hoped for a little more variety of the food. I love salmon and I wasn't impressed with the option.

We knew that this restaurant has been around, but we always "take our time" before we try anything. Like usual, we are always looking to try different restaurants and of course we always read the reviews, check out the menu and have a discussion about it all before we go. Yes, it's that important. We made reservations for a Saturday afternoon and got seated right away. Joe was our waiter. The booth was really nice and so was the ambiance. For the drinks, I got a cranberry juice and he got the lemon drop mojito. His drink was nice and tart. The cranberry juice was just ok. Our friends recommended the chicken pasta soup and Alex's salad. So that's what we started with. My husband knows that I'm a harsh critic (the female version of Gordon Ramsey) and a very picky eater, so he let me taste everything first. I went through the soup with a spoon to see what was in it. It consisted of chicken pieces with penne pasta and a variety of vegetables in a cream based broth. It was sprinkled with parsley. I wasn't sure about it so I took a small bite just to see. It was surprisingly delicious! A little salty, but still acceptable. Everything in the soup blended together perfectly. He agreed. Next was Alex's salad...it was amazing! One of the best salads I had in a long time. Fresh and tasty ingredients, but the ranch dressing and the croutons were top tier. We both absolutely loved it! In the meantime, the service was slightly off. Joe forgot our extra ranch dressing and only gave us 3 paper napkins for the both of us. What are we supposed to do with just 3 napkins? We definitely needed more than 3. Ok, back to the food... For the main dish we wanted to try something "safe" since this was our first time here. We both ordered the steak burger. According to the menu, the beef is made from tenderloin and ribeye on a brioche bun. Instead of fries, we got the smashed potatoes. Ohhh mmm gee! We had steak burgers in the past, tasting like regular burgers. This J. Alexander burger actually tastes like steak! Annnddd the bun was fresh and toasted to perfection. The smashed potatoes were delicious too. No need for salt, pepper or gravy. It was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. Who knew that basic items on the menu (soup, salad, side) to be this damn good?! Everything was delicious, but the service was still slightly off. I told my husband that I would give this restaurant 4 stars because of the service. He told me to give it 5 because Joe really tried and to give him a benefit of the doubt. I wasn't totally convinced until a bit later. Remember what I said earlier in this review? I am a harsh critic. A female Gordon Ramsey. I critique everything and everyone when a review is being made by us. We received the check. $92 and some change. Ok, cool. After my husband paid the bill, Joe returned and thanked my husband and addressed him. By his last NAME. Out of all of the restaurants my husband and I ate out of over the years, NOBODY has ever addressed my husband by his name. That means sooo much! And because of that, Joe totally redeemed himself and now I'm writing this 5 star review for everyone to see. Yes, we will be back for more!

We had a birthday reservation at 7:30pm and we arrived a few minutes early. It took 25 minutes to be seated as the place was very busy. Erin was our server and she was awesome. Very attentive service! The food was so delicious. I had the Steak Maui marinated ribeye. The Filet Mignon was fantastic. The French dip torched it. Nothing better. Frankly the best we've had in a long time. The complimentary carrot cake was delicious. I would recommend this place but at a time whenever it's not so busy. Overall it's a good place to dine.

I wanted to treat my sister for her birthday at J. Alexander's in Oak Brook. We had a very pleasant experience with our server, Madison. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu items. We started with the Hong Kong Shrimp Appetizer; it was enough for three to four people, with plenty of shrimp and a tangy salad dressing. My sister ordered a house salad, and I ordered the Red River Chili. For my main course, I ordered the pork chop with Apricot Glaze, which was delicious, along with crisp broccoli and smashed potatoes. My sister ordered the French Dip Sandwich with au jus and shoestring fries. It was so big that she took half of it home. We ordered Carrot Cake (a little too sweet for me), a big seller on the dessert menu, and coffee. I would encourage you to make reservations. We would go back in a heartbeat. There's plenty of parking.

I haven't been to this restaurant since they closed the one that was in Chicago. So when I went I had great expectations since I used to patronize them all the time. It was pretty crowded on a Sat evening, luckily we had reservations so we were Sat fairly quickly. The atmosphere was ok. The lightening was dim so a bit hard to read the menus. David was our host and he was engaging. The chicken pasta soup was surprisingly delicious. I had 1 of the specials of the evening which was kabob on rice. The kabob was actually seasoned pretty well. My friend had the red snapper, a special. He liked it but I personally thought it needed more seasoning. He also put salt and pepper on it after I tasted it. I didn't have a bad experience just not sure I would take the drive to go to this particular restaurant.

I've been going to J Alexander's for years. I was kinda disappointed with the quality of the food. We ordered the crab cakes previously this was an appetizer now it's an entree it comes with fries and coleslaw . The food arrived fast but cold and greasy I didn't enjoy it at all the Elite Margarita was awful the service was good the ambiance was nice

Is it warm enough at their outdoor dining?

The answer to this question is subjective based on the comfort level of the individual, but they do have outdoor propane heaters that typically do a nice job of keeping patios warm in cooler weather.

    Is there outdoor seating?

    Yes

Is it Family friendly? Have a 1 year old & 4 adults. Yes? No?

I believe it is, would totally take young ones there

The venue Wasn't too crowded which was a plus. I decided to have dinner with reservations @3pm with the App OpenTable. On time for my reservation with no wait time! Seated immediately, I was excited to have my waitress named Arielle. Immediately, she accompanied me with complimentary bread and water along with the restaurant cocktail and food menus. She was very happy to be able help in any way to make me comfortable and was just a joy to have. My first course was the Iceberg wedge BLT, with my cocktail smoked old fashioned. For the second course I spoiled myself with the filet medallions with lobster tail Oscar style accompaniment sides; truffled mac&cheese, and crab fried rice with mushrooms and scallions. Sheeeshh! That meal was phenomenal! Lobster sat perfectly on top of the beef medallions as they both were served and with gratitude I ate every bit of it! Truffled Mac & cheese were so cheesy it was a perfect mouthful. The rice also had some delicious flavors that enticed my tastebuds with savory goodness! Everything was GOODT! Easter Sunday with great food, good company, and dope service ! Check em out!

We arrived on a Friday night just before 9:00 PM and had no trouble finding street parking--always a win. We were greeted by our waitress, Jennifer, who was absolutely amazing. She let us know about their late-night perk: half-price small plates and select drinks on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 PM until close, which is such a great incentive for heading out later in the evening. Jennifer was attentive without being intrusive--our water glasses were always full, she checked in after every course, and her recommendations for both food and drinks were spot-on. We started with a Mad Rose for V and a Chameleon for me. Both cocktails were delicious, and after finishing his Mad Rose, V definitely felt the celebratory spirit kicking in. For appetizers, we shared the Vietnamese Summer Rolls and Sweet Chili Calamari. The summer rolls were light, fresh, and nicely accented with mint. The calamari was sweet with a surprisingly spicy finish--delicious, though the heat was just a bit much for V. I'd happily order both again. For my main course, I had the Wagyu Beef Stroganoff, and wow--hands down the best stroganoff I've ever had. The beef was incredibly tender, and the sauce was perfectly balanced with the noodles. It even paired beautifully with my Chameleon, with subtle lemon notes that complemented each other surprisingly well. V ordered the Tomahawk Pork Chop, cooked medium well and absolutely perfect. He loved every bite. It came with a risotto that he enjoyed, even if it wasn't the standout of the dish. Dessert sealed the deal. We finished with Sandy's White Wine Cake--which reminded me of a carrot cake in the best way--and the Banana Cream Pie, which was easily the best banana cream pie I've ever had. Truly a WOW moment. Between the excellent food, thoughtful service, and great late-night specials, Entourage made V's birthday celebration one to remember. We'll definitely be back. Sorry, I wish I had pics but I left my phone behind today.

I ordered from Entourage Downers Grove and was honestly impressed with how well everything held up for delivery. The standout for me was the lobster bisque. It arrived at the perfect temperature, which is pretty impressive for delivery. The bisque was rich and luscious without feeling overly heavy, and the basil oil added a nice brightness that balanced the creaminess beautifully. It also had a generous amount of lobster, including several large chunks, and was a very solid portion overall. The filet mignon sliders were another highlight. Each slider had a substantial piece of filet mignon topped with pickled onions, microgreens, and horseradish cream on brioche buns. The onions and horseradish added enough acidity and bite to balance the richness of the beef without overpowering it. I also tried the Vietnamese summer rolls, filled with roasted shiitake mushrooms, fresh vegetables, and rice noodles, served with both peanut sauce and sweet chili sauce. Everything tasted very fresh, and the sauces complemented the generously stuffed rolls nicely. My only small critique is that cutting them in half made for a prettier presentation, but made them a little awkward to dip and eat. Overall, this was a surprisingly strong delivery experience, and I would absolutely order from them again, or better yet, make it over to the restaurant itself next time I'm in the area.

During this period, the busperson visited our table four times to handle water (bring Pelligrino, etc) and fetch a wine list that I had to specifically request. When our waiter finally arrived, he did not offer drinks and instead began discussing the menu. I had to interrupt to order a round of drinks, which then took an excessive amount of time to arrive. In addition: - I had to flag the waiter down to place our food order. - After recommending a 2004 Rioja Gran Reserva by the glass for $38, which I ordered in ancitipation, the waiter later informed me it was only available by the bottle. - My steak was slightly overcooked; if I return, I will know to order rare rather than medium-rare. - The 20-year tawny I ordered to accompany dessert never arrived. I eventually had to ask the waiter to remove it from the bill as we had already finished eating. This dinner took nearly three hours. We arrived at 5:30pm and a wait person should be able to guage the timing/tempo of diners. We weren't looking for an Alinea-type experience. We wanted a nice steak dinner. The wine list is also rather shallow. I wish I'd taken pictures, but the offerings are just ok. And while the Reserve list has more options, prices start in the $200 and up range which wasn't what we were looking for that visit. I wrote to the restaurant and the manager was receptive and acknowledged the "invaluable feedback." I was hoping this place would become a staple in the rotation, but I just don't think so, given there are better steaks and service elsewhere.

I wasn't drinking that night, but hubby solo'd it with a bourbon cocktail called a Paper Plane. He said it was very tasty, especially on the hot day. We shared the ahi tuna tartare to start. The tartare was a stack of tuna with tropical salsa and avocado. So fresh. It came with a basket of crispy lavish bread, I hope when the restaurant switches their recipe that they will continue making a seedless lavish for those who can't do nuts or seeds. Hubby had the wood grilled tenderloin salad for dinner. I had to get a taste of that tenderloin because it was cooked perfectly. It was so tasty and seasoned well. I had the wood grilled Idaho rainbow trout, swapping out the asparagus for carrots. The trout came with a dill mustard sauce which I nixed and just squeezed fresh lemon on the fish. The fish was moist and smoky. Of course, we had to get the little dessert shooters to end the meal. Hubby had the Belgian chocolate s'mores, which was ridiculously decadent. I had the more conservative raspberry cannoli dessert. These tiny sweet treats are delicious mini indulgences. I love them because you want something a little sweet at the end of a meal but don't want a huge dessert. I think they're perfect.
