The atmosphere was absolutely amazing and was the highlight of our visit. It gave you the feeling of being on the coastline while still being in the middle of a big city, which was a nice breath of fresh air. The food was good overall, but the mac and cheese was disappointing. It tasted like it had been sitting out for a while, so it wasn't as fresh as the rest of the meal. One thing to be aware of is that there is currently a lot of construction around the restaurant, which made getting there a bit difficult. I also didn't feel that the entrance was very ADA accessible. The pathway was narrow, and the ramp leading inside was quite steep, which could make access challenging for guests using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility aids. Overall, it's a beautiful spot with a fantastic atmosphere, but there are a few areas that could be improved to make the experience better for everyone. read more

We've been back many times since my last review, have tried several different dishes, and enjoy dining there very much. Visited again for lunch today. My wife had the Grilled Shrimp Panzanella Salad; Grilled shrimp, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, grilled sourdough cubes, capers, Mozzarella, fresh basil and oregano tossed in a Smokey Dijon Vinaigrette dressing. It was excellent. I had the Jerk Chicken; 2 chicken breasts marinated in jerk spices and citrus, grilled over black beans and Tumeric rice with grilled pineapple salsa. Huge portions, and delicious. Our server, Christian W, was outstanding. Kept our beverage glasses filled, checked on us several times, just right. A gentleman came by, I assume the owner, and asked about our food. When I told him how much I like the Jerk Chicken, he shared wish us where the recipe came from, wish I could remember where, but can't pull it up. It was so hot today that we were concerned about the temperature; definitely didn't want to sit outside, but inside was cool and comfortable. So, my wife and I went to Blue Moon Waterfront Cafe last night. Overall, a very good experience. The food was good, our server, Stephanie was fun and helpful, BUT, it was starting to rain so we moved to the bar (the bar had like 5 people max at it). When we moved to the bar, the bartender, Ashley, asked if we were moving from another spot. When we said yes, she said we would need to get what we needed from our server. Cool, we had already ordered and we would order the next round of drinks from her. After our food came, my wife asked the bartender for a napkin, and she gave it to her, but said, I told you that you would need to get anything you needed from your server . My wife, not really believing what she had heard, said, even a napkin? Ashley says "yes, I'm not making any money off you". I don't think I've ever heard anyone in the service industry be so rude. Waitress spilled two full drinks of sangria all over me and my shoes. Thankfully I was able to wipe the leather mostly clean after lots of scrubbing under the table. She said she was sorry and nothing else was said. No management came over. No compensation was taking off the check. They literally didn't even clean up the floor. They just made us step in it the whole night. I've had entire tables covered before just for a waitress spilling a water on someone. The least this place could have done was clean the floor. It's very easy to like the Blue Moon restaurant. It's off the beaten path, but the food, view, service, and atmosphere are worth the extra effort. Who doesn't like a nice meal on the water, whether it's Sunday brunch or watching the sunset. Setting and dress is very casual. The Calamari is our go to appetizer. The Mahi dishes are always favorites, along with the burgers and fish tacos. Bushwackers are adult chocolate milkshakes - they are awesome, but very filling! Wow! Talk about an incredible waterfront restaurant. As a Nashville resident, it's easy to get used to waiting and overcrowding, but you can let that all go at Blue Moon. I visited Blue Moon at peak dinner time on a Friday evening and had the absolute best experience. There were several large parties that showed up just before my boyfriend and I, but the restaurant staff worked hard to get everyone seated very quickly. I was very impressed with how speedy the service was. Food was quick, drinks were great, the view was amazing and the ducks were too cute! Our waiter was kind and on top of his game. The manager was working hard to keep everything clean and presentable and I noticed her helping to clean tables and prep for the next group frequently. She even made rounds to ensure everyone was enjoying their visit. We had the poke appetizer, blackened mahi mahi tacos, and pick two dinner (blackened salmon and coconut shrimp). Tucked away on the west side of Nashville. Enjoyable outdoor dining right on the water. Went for Sunday brunch and enjoyed our meal. I ordered biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were a little overdone and tough to break apart at times. Gravy was flavorful and potato's were great! My partner ordered eggs Benedict. Overall decent, poached eggs were not runny. Visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The vibe is a laid back and casual waterfront spot. The location is built into the docks. Service was on the slower side, but staff were friendly. The food itself is average, it was likely frozen fish used in the tacos because it was rather bland, but the salsa they added on top saves it a little bit. Our server was very attentive. - food was freshly made to order but came out extremely fast - food was really tasty! - Bushwacker (icy chocolatey boozy drink) for the win Here's what we ordered: - Fried cheese curds - we got them "plain" which means they weren't dipped in buffalo sauce. A side of ranch and also marinara are provided and let me tell you- this dish was a delight. So good! - Mahi Mahi Tacos- yum! This dish comes with 2 tacos (you can add a third for $6) and some delicious sauce made with ranch. Also a side that's mixed with black beans & yellow rice. All very good. - French Fries - so crispy with a hint of seasoning and a lot of salt. Just how I like them! - Fried Coconut Shrimp - didn't love that sauce they come with but the shrimp were SO GOOD! The Not So Goods: - You do have to take a ramp from the parking lot to get to the restaurant. I'm not handicap, but I would imagine this ramp might be a little difficult for someone who is. - They don't allow pets on the patio so keep your furry friends at home. I'd love to bring my dog but this isn't a reason to keep me away. - take a jacket or sweatshirt if you sit by the water. It can get chilly. Love this little hidden gem. Beautiful restaurant by the river with nautical theme and eats. Food is not bad but you go for the ambiance. Feels like a little piece of Florida in the Nations. Found this suggestion in a Facebook group but didn't really do much research on the place. It just sounded nice and the menu looked good. This place is on the water, but you're surrounded by boats and yachts, so it's not much of a view. The water actually looked quite dirty and gross. We were also (unpleasantly) surprised to find out that this place is completely outdoors, with a roof covering part of the dining area. This was our fault for not researching, but nevertheless it was unfortunate as we had already been outside all day in the 96 degree heat with awful humidity; we desperately wanted some relief in air conditioning. We also went at a time where the sun was like an hour from setting and the sun was brutal, shining straight into our eyes. We were using the menu to fan ourselves and trying to sit in whatever position would allow us to see. Since we were outside, the bugs were also a factor. Flies EVERYWHERE. We spent the entire time swatting flies away. On top of that, we had a wasp harassing us and a large spider was coming down to our table from a long web on the wall. I understand this all comes with sitting at an outdoor restaurant, but it was still unfortunate. All staff were attentive and friendly. I felt so badly for our waitress. She was literally dripping in sweat and was apologizing profusely for it. She literally had drops of sweat hanging off her nose, chin, etc. We were slightly disturbed cuz she was carrying our food/drinks and dripping sweat- hopefully nothing dripped into our stuff. Poor lady. She was very sweet. We ordered cheese curds as an appetizer, honey chicken and shrimp with rice and sweet potato fries, the fried chicken sandwich with fries, a side of Mac and cheese, and a chicken wrap. The food came out very quickly, hot and fresh. The cheese curds were delicious and came with ranch and marinara for dipping. The chicken sandwich and fries were good. The Mac and cheese was basic. My boyfriend enjoyed his chicken, shrimp, and rice. We had both regular fries and sweet potato fries and both were yummy, nice and crispy. We paid $81 before tip for our food. We actually asked for to-go boxes early on because we couldn't take the heat and bugs anymore. The food was good but probably wouldn't visit again unless the weather is more comfortable. People were ordering cocktails that looked tasty but we didn't order any alcoholic beverages as we knew it would just make us feel more hot.
