I noticed that he was very careful and respectful of my property. Plumbing can be messy job, but he took precautions to protect my wood floors, etc. When he had successfully resolved the problem, he completely cleaned the under sink cabinet, leaving it better than he found it!! This place used to be great. I've called them out 4 other times in the past for a drain clean out issue with no problems. They were quick, clean, efficient, and thorough. But now you call the day after a holiday and the guy comes out seems disinterested and refuses to put the snake into my clean out because he wants me to sign up for a 4 inch clean out line and in no way was going to sneak my drain today. He was worried that the snake might get stuck. Felt more to me like he couldn't be bothered with even trying as he was at the end of his shift. I called J &D because my wall furnace wouldn't stay on when I tried using it. Right off the bat they wanted to charge 195$ for basic servicing and cleaning of the furnace. I didn't want that done, but that's the only way they'll come out. As the technician was working on the furnace he found a leak (it wasn't leaking before) and said that he needed to replace a fitting. He proceeded to replace the fitting and he was done around 1pm. He went to his truck and sat there for another 10 minutes until he finally came back with the invoice. The new price had gone up to over 300$ He charged for 2 hours of labor even though the job was completed in 1.5 hours. I said to myself alright whatever that's your payment and your tip. Me and my wife thought our furnace was finally fixed but NOPE! Turns out it's still leaking gas and these people want another 140$ to come fix a leak they caused!! Our house could have caught on fire or our dogs could have passed out from the smell. Very unprofessional. Buyer beware. Watch your wallets! And your houses! read more

We have always been nervous about hiring service techs to come out for fear of being taken advantage of, overcharged, etc. Paying "premium for a job done right" is great if you have the money to live like that. We don't. We had no hot water pressure in the shower only. I've been taking increasingly horrible showers for months ;( Deanna was responsive in getting back to us and scheduling someone next day (as it was not an emergency). Steve came in, replaced the valve, a bunch of rust and sediment came out and we were good to go. They charge by the hour and the price was reasonable. Thank you Steve!! Another company was called to fix an overflowing washing machine. They offer a "free" inspection under my home to ensure everything was up to snuff. Surprisingly they discovered that our cast iron sewer line was cracked and all of the drains needed replacing. The quote was astronomical! We contacted J & D Plumbing for a second opinion. Lo and behold, no cracked sewer connection and the drains did not need replacing, J & D Plumbing was able to diagnose our overflow problem and resolved it the same day for a fair price. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! One evening, our toilet in the master bathroom decided to get clogged and before we knew it, there was sewage coming out of the drain from the master shower. IT WAS HORRIBLE! The water continued to rise and overflow onto the tile and towards the bedroom carpet. We contacted J&D Plumbing because of their reviews and because they were available 24 hours. Bob arrived at our location 30-40 minutes after we called, and by that time the sewage/back up in the bathroom was terrible. He diagnosed the issue and said there was a block in the main sewage line, so he brought his equipment and began trying to clear the pipes. After about 15 minutes of work, the sewage began draining. Once he was done, he packed up his equipment and began heading back to his truck. I at least thought he would clean up after himself given the fact he just stepped in all the sewage and then walked through our living room floors. Nope! Not a care in the world and just walked out. No assistance with the bathroom or the mess he made. It was so bad that we had to contact a cleaning service to clean up the bathroom, but the next available appt. was on Monday (12/18/17). Keep in mind J&D Plumbing came on 12/12/17. WE DID NOT USE OUR BATHROOM the entire time because of the mess that was left. We have a 2nd bathroom that we were able to utilize during this time. Fast forward to Monday after the bathroom was cleaned. HOPING that the toilet was fixed, it was clearly was not. The water did not go down. Luckily there was no sewage coming from the drain at this time. We contacted J&D Plumbing to advise them of what happened and they stated they were busy, and could have someone out on Thursday. I was able to speak with Bob over the phone to discuss the issue and he stated if it's an issue with something we did, then there would be no charge, but if it was a toilet concern then we would be responsible for charges. I understood what he was saying. Thursday morning, we started hearing a bubbling sound from the toilet, before we knew it, BOOM! Sewage! Started coming out of the toilet and again all over the floor/carpet. Unbelievable! J&D Plumbing sent someone to "diagnose" the issue and when they arrived, the gentlemen stated "I'm not going in there, it's full of shit". Umm...okay.... He contacted his boss (Bob, which I later found out is the owner) and he stated that he would not be covering the repair/service under warranty because he stated "YOU'RE A LIAR! I don't believe you! You definitely flushed something down the toilet" Excuse me? WHAT?! NO! Regardless of the fact, if you really flushed the main line there wouldn't be a clog less than a week later. How can you tell your customer that? Very unprofessional! The plumber left and that was that. We do not recommend using J&D Plumbing! We will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and The State Licensing Board regarding this situation. read more

I can't say enough how much I appreciate Robert from J&D plumbing! The short version of my story is that I had a clogged shower and called Rooter Hero to unclog it. The person they sent was extremely unprofessional and I pretty much helped unclog my own drain. The tech then offered to camera my house for free since they were having a "special." We bought the house seven years ago and it was built in the 50's so I agreed as I was curious the condition of everything. Another technician "the team lead" came to our home. After using the camera, I was told the house sewer pipes were some of the worst that he had ever seen and I was given a $25,000 quote and was told the work needed to be done immediately. Talk about a night of lost sleep. Enter J&D Plumbing. I called the next day and made an appointment after talking with Robert extensively. He came out, ran the camera through all of my sewers and guess what, THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS!!! Rooter Hero tried to screw me!!!! After all was said and done, we are going to have our pipes cleaned just because there is 70 years worth of junk on them and I'm all about maintenance. Any service company/contractor is as good as its current roster of employees. They can and WILL change over time, sometimes short and sometimes longer. I've known the owners of this company since the early 80's and as a general contractor of now 47 years in the trades, I have some of my own ideas as to how to approach any problem. I always listen to the person who comes out to do the job before entering into any discussion I think might be pertinent. The point is that any company is only as good as its current staff. So, I have a residential job going with sometimes as many as a dozen workers on site. There are bathroom facilities at the rear of the garage. One by one we removed fixtures from the other bathrooms leaving this one in service. The increased usage in this last bathroom revealed that it was a slow drain and there was a restriction that needed to be snaked. The J & D plumber who showed up was less than interested in dialog than getting to work. Thing is he spent 2.5 hours on a simple rooter job most of what was removing a stubborn cleanout plug under a sink. I guess he thought that would get to the toilet. I was billed for broken drill bits and saw blade -- for use in brass??!! $7 for each item. I don't know where he gets his drill bits, but for 7 bucks ea. I hope they are mighty fine. (So why then did they break?) And since he apparently did not have a replacement plug on his truck, he charged me $15 for a 'test' plug (a temporary plug). These are $2.66 at Grainger. Bottom line, the service did not fix the blockage and I had to call J & D early in the morning a couple days later for a redo. I never heard back that day until late in the day the same plumber shows up out of the blue, no call. He starts in by being defensive about the previous attempt and that he would have to charge me additionally for any work beyond the scope of the work he did the first time (missing the blockage). Then he blames the workers for how they use the toilet. I sent him on his way and had another plumber come and do the work. Took this guy only long enough to remove the toilet itself (something I had requested in the first place) and get it all freed up. Since there was water coming out from under the toilet and flooding the floor all along, it really needed to be reset and initially it wasn't done by J & D. Sure, things happen in all service businesses and it doesn't always go peachy keen. However, wholesale RUDENESS is totally inappropriate, especially in the face of failure. This whole fracas cost me $300 plus the fee for the guy that actually fixed the problem. Up to you whether you need or want this kind of "service." read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND J & D PLUMBING. In December, we went to court and we were awarded a judgment in our favor AGAINST J&D Plumbing. The judgment was appealed by Defendant and a new trial was held on 4/21/17 wherein a new judge ALSO awarded us a judgment AGAINST J&D Plumbing. Two judges agreed with us in two separate trials. Do not trust Robert Mungo, or his associates. STORY: In June, our main sewer line (which lies in an easement on the rear of our property) became partially blocked and was backing up into our home. We contacted J &D Plumbing to come and snake it out to clear it. First off, Steve H. comes out with a cable machine that does not work. He leaves for an hour to go get a working machine. Steve makes several alleged attempts to clear the line and yet he is unsuccessful. He declares that he's positive that we have a broken pipe and he puts a camera down the line and marks the spot where his equipment allegedly stops. The following day, Steve repeats the same procedures. He says he cannot see anything, as there is water in the line because he could not clear it. We are billed for each visit though there was no resolution. Steve declares he knows a broken line when he sees one. He calls over "Buddy" from J&D who stops over to take a look. They jointly tell us the line is broken and we need to start digging but the last resort before digging it all up would be to have the line hydrojetted. Steve says if it's not broken, hydrojetting will get through it. So, we have their "friend" Robert from Robert's Plumbing, out the next day to hydrojet our line. Ironically, he could not get through either and Robert marks their spot next to J&D's marking. We commence digging for three days and now have an 8' hole down to the City's main. There is no water to be seen anywhere. I sent a picture of the hole exposing the City main and Steve declares "That's your sewer line The city main would be a lot bigger." Steve was wrong. It WAS the City's main line and being a plumber, he should've recognized it. This speaks volumes about J & D Plumbing and their inadequate qualifications and integrity. As a last resort, I have the City flush their main and put a camera down their main looking up into our main connection. Note: J & D Plumbing is found at the end of our street stalking the City employees for information on our address and what was happening. The City shows me a picture of our main with simple root blockage, so after a week of hell, I call out another plumbing company with hundreds of reviews on Yelp. This plumber was able to put their cable machine through our line and clear it in LESS THAN 15 MINUTES!! We were inconvenienced for over a week with minimal water usage in our home due to J&D Plumbing and Robert's Plumbing's greed and incurred additional financial loss digging an unnecessary hole in our rear yard and tearing out tropical landscape. Pure hell! It is my opinion that J & D Plumbing were working together with Robert of Robert's Plumbing & Rooter to try to scam us out of thousands of dollars. The judge AGREED with us. Further, Robert Mungo, President of J&D Plumbing somehow illegally obtained Public Records from the Long Beach Water Department on our address without completing a public records request form. He was obnoxious and demanding while trying to obtain said records, which were denied by the record clerk. AGAIN, I obviously do NOT recommend using J&D Plumbing, as they are dishonest. read more
