After a disappointing order mistake and phone call with a cashier, the manager, Mike, personally called us, apologized for the mistake and corrected the problem in the best way. I have never had this happen after a wrong delivery order, and it stands as a testament to the quality of this restaurant. The people here are so nice, but the food isn't that great. Pizza is tasty, but the last several times we ordered, the bottom was burnt. Salads are pretty basic, but good. Cold subs are not good, meatball parm is overly garlicky, and their dinners are very bland. Alfredo sauce tasted like heavy cream only, not cheesy and definitely lacking salt. They deliver in a timely fashion, and I can't stress how nice they are, but they need some work in their kitchen. Saving grace is their chicken wrap w fresh mozzarella and honey mustard. I just wish the rest of the menu was as good but we've been unimpressed for months. read more

I ordered takeout delivery from here and we ordered two pizzas one with pepperoni and the other was a plain extra-large- The pepperoni was spicy pepperoni and the plain was OK- my only real issue was that even though it was delivered quickly within 30 minutes I found it to be soggy and that is a cardinal sin of good pizza- read more

We were confined to this area for an hour or so while we were waiting to meet someone for a meeting. Figured we'd kill some time and grab lunch. Of course, where else would I go to look at what's around but Yelp!! The majority of the places around were pizza joints. This one had 5 stars so I figured what the hell, we'll give them a shot. As soon as I pulled up I knew this was an old school place. Just from the look of the sign and the interior. The inside reminded me of every old time pizza joint I had ever been in back in Bklyn. We stepped up to the counter and everything looked good. we couldn't figure out what to get. When I'm not sure about a place, I stick with the basics. Got a plain slice and a Sicilian. we grabbed a couple of drinks and sat in a booth. By the way, Coke in a bottle!!! I don't drink much soda any more, but who can resist cola in glass!!! They brought our order over. I almost fell out of the booth when I saw the size of the Sicilian!! Probably 1 1/2 times the size of any other I've had in Jersey. The plain slice was big too. I took a bite of the plain and that said it all!! Perfect!! Just the right amount of everything. The sauce is very good. Not too sweet. The Sicilian was smothered in cheese, but it didn't drown out any of the flavor of the sauce. The crust was excellent. Crisp and light, just the right texture. You can see the traces of EVOO mixed in with the cheese. Not the orange grease you may be used to seeing on your pizza!! Damn how I wish this place was closer to Freehold! The final icing on the cake was the owner who we spoke to briefly about the pizza and the shop. Very nice guy that you can tell takes pride in what he does. I have been a loyal customer for 6 years, since I moved to Brick. My cousin highly recommended them and I found them to be the best in the area. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and I know my pizza. J&G was the best I've had west of Brooklyn. However, in the past 6 months, I have been disappointed 3 times. The first time, I ordered an eggplant parmigiana hero which I had ordered several times before. The eggplant was so tough that I couldn't even take a bite out of it. My teeth pulled and pulled, but I couldn't get a bite out of it. I opened the sandwich up and there were 3 long strips of eggplant, no breading, that resembled 3 strips of shoe leather. I ended up throwing it out and just eating the bread. Today, I ordered fried calamari and a personal size pizza with peppers & onions. The food was delivered cold. The calamari had 8 big bunches of tentacles that I wasn't able to bite. The pizza was also ice cold. I'm sorry to say that I give up and will be looking for a new favorite pizzeria. read more

It's the best pizza place near my moms house, I have some amazing pizza places by my house and I'm also a little pizza obsessed. I go to all the top ten nj.com pizza place picks, so I'm a little underwhelmed wit j&gs. The girl who answers the phone every time I call sounds miserable, but the delivery guys are so extremely friendly and polite. When I ask them too cool it well done it's much better than it usually is, a few times the crust has been raw, one time I actually asked them to bring another one. read more

This was probably the worst pizza we've ever had. Not a fan at all. It's very thick and oily and slices felt like we were eating a cup of oil with layer of chewy cheese. Also contained what seemed like dried parsley or basil? Completely flavorless. Would've been better if it was sprinkled with fresh basil. read more

The dad was a wonderful person always a warm smile and his wife made you feel at home. Their children where there from time to time. Have ordered pizza with subs or wings for delivery about ten times The pizza has always been excellent, with generous amounts of good-quality ingredients. Except for the Philly cheesesteaks, the subs have been very good also. I am reducing this review by one star because the last two times I ordered cheesesteak subs whoever made them was very cheap with the meat, with not even enough to reach the ends of the roll. Wasn't a fan a few years ago but this past Thursday changed my mind. Hubby purchased 2 plain slices and 1 cheesesteak slice. Awesome. I had a grilled chicken wrap with lettuce and tomato. I can remember when J&G first opened in the Dorado shopping center. There was at the time a Quick Chek a lanes drug store a Freeman's bakery and a eye doctor. And I can also remember their pizza sucked back then only because they were competing with parkway pizza. That has been over thirty years ago. Now when I drive by the area I still see they are still there. My only question is how. I stopped by the other day and got a slice and couldn't believe how much it hasn't changed. We order from here almost once a week and are never disappointed. The staff is nice and friendly and the food is great. We've had the calamari which is pretty good. The chicken caesar salad is a very nice size with lots of chicken on top, and when we want something "bad" we get the bacon ranch pizza which is quite delicious. The delivery is alway very quick too.
