I would give J & J Auto on Whipple in Union City a 5 Star X 10! Juan is professional & keeps his customers updated & informed. I have an extended warranty on my 2014 Nissan Murano. I took my car to Juan for analysis on my transmission. I had read online that some of the Nissan Muranos have had CVD transmission issues. I make sure I have all preventative maintenance on my car. I left my car for Juan to take it for a test drive expecting the usual diagnostic tool but instead he left with a TouchPad device. The TouchPad device detected issues & showed the error codes with my transmission. Juan updated me that the transmission would need to be replaced with a transmission from Nissan dealer. Juan then called the extended warranty company, faxed them the computer diagnostic findings & had everything authorized in record time. There was a 2 - 3 week back order on the transmission, I took the car back home & as soon as the transmission came in Juan called me to bring the car in. Juan explained the process & timeline which he met as discussed. Juan had me bring my car back in a week later to check everything. I am happy to say that my car drives like when I bought her & I am so relieved that I found Juan at J & J Auto in Union City! Juan is an excellent mechanic & his diagnostic tool is superior to any device I have seen! I went to Javier for years, trusted him and even recommended his business to friends and family. So, when I was getting ready to move out of state, I asked him to fix everything for a safe trip...He offered to give me a discount for a "favor," and was instantly offended. When he noticed that I didn't take his gesture well, he "fixed" everything in record time so I wouldn't say anything....well, a few months after I moved, I had to take my car to the mechanic because my heater and air conditioner stopped working and realized that he not only didn't do anything I asked him to do, but parts and screws were missing all over my engine. I ended up having to pay for over $1,000 worth of repairs because I went years without proper care. I could not believe how much he deceived me and jeopardized my life. Used to be my favorite place and recommended highly, but got expensive repairs done here including replacement of the gasket and 6 month later it's back to oil leaks again. My brakes and roters were also replaced and was told at my 4 month oil change that my brakes needed to be replaced soon. What? Thought they were just replaced?? Do not drive often or long distances so this did not make sense. I am female so not sure if this has something to do with the responses I was getting. Done coming here, trusted the owner very much and recommended to others but am thinking parts used were cheap and I was not being told the truth at each visit. No longer recommend. read more

Friendly, Honest, & Reasonably priced service. My boyfriend and his family referred me here they have been coming here for years... I came in for an oil change and diagnostic service. He recently had an issue with his 2005 Kia Sorrento, J&J were closed on a Sunday so he tried going to a gas station service where they tried to say just by looking in the hood it was his belt (it sounded like belt) and eng??! He waited the following business day and Juan said it was the belt only nothing wrong with engine!! Saved him money and stress he decided to also get his smog done... Happy customers left. Let me tell you why: Some customers know much more than you do about your profession. Let me explain to you some basics: Car manufacturers place numbers and letters on their parts. These letters and numbers have meaning. When you own an automotive establishment you should invest in small reams of paper that contain itemized and highly organized instructions on the construction of vehicles called: Service Manuals. Or if you don't want to invest in owning the manuals for the cars you service you could also try using something called a computer. On many computers is something called the internet. I went there for a smog. The car passed but there. Was a hose that had a small hole in it. So they said the car did not pass. I called. My mecanic and he asked why. The guy at j and j told him so I took it back to get it fixed. J&j made me pay for the failed text and when income back I would have to pay again! My macanic said that. They. Should. Have a"no pay if u do not pass. He. Said most. Pleases do. So instead. Of a the $30 special I will have to pay twice as much. read more

Three years ago I want there to change brakes and brake rotas, was told that it was done. Paid for the job. And just found out from honest mechanic that brake rotas were never changed, and there were half of minimum safe thickens. So it was dangerous to drive..anytime the rotas would crack and I would have no working brakes. If you value your life, time, and money, do not go to J and J auto. read more

They will give you 1 year warranty on parts and service, they will let you know what parts are needed to be replaced and give you a price quote and pay them, but they will not replaced all of the parts that you paid for.
