I came here because several of my neighbors recommendation and not far from our residence. I needed a state inspection. I drove in and its down an alley way so i was not sure where to park. I finally parked in front of a garage and Blue located me. He let me know that was their old office but leave the car and he'll take it from there and go make myself comfortable inside. 15-20 minutes. 20 minutes later, he walked in the door with a passed inspection. While ringing me up, he gave me a brief intro of the business, who's who, etc. Very nice guy. Mom and pop shop (he told me they don't do coupons because it's just word of mouth advertising). In my first visit, while in the waiting area I saw a customer come in who had just been to another shop that suggested he needed new brake pads and advised him from even driving the vehicle from the shop as it is. The customer had come to J&L automotive for a second opinion. Within a few minutes, a mechanic took a look at the pads and let the customer know that he was still above the minimum pad thickness and safe to drive but that he would need to change the pads in the next 1000 miles or so. My experience at the shop was the same. They only fixed what needed fixing and John took the time to explain everything to me. Honest reliable service that I would recommend to a friend! read more

J&L was awesome. They did something that 2 other mechanics couldn't. I took my car to a different independent mechanic and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my car. Then I took my car to the VW dealership, and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with my car, but they found $4500 worth of "other" things that needed done. Lastly I took it to J&L. I was very impressed that the J&L Automotive Team was focused on taking care of my vehicle and did not try to sell me anything that I did not need. The customer area was very clean and accommodating with WiFi, AC, Coffee and treats. They also have the cleanest bathroom that I have ever seen in automotive service shop. I can't say enough good things about J&L, I should have written a review long ago. My family and I have been customers for years. Simply put, they are the most honest, thorough and good people I've ever had work on my car, and probably just in general as people. Recently, with the passing of a family member, and needing some extra help with vehicles that were left behind, Lisa and John went way beyond expectations to help us. The truth is, I don't think they even felt that they were going beyond what they normally would do. First let me say that the people were very nice... unfortunately that's the only positive thing I can say. I had my vehicle in here 3 times for the same issue, and it still didn't get fixed. And I mean, not at all. Not even a little bit of improvement. The moment I drove off this last time and got on the freeway, the problem was still there. It's one thing if you can't figure out the problem and diagnose it properly, but it's another if the effort doesn't seem like it was made. I was told they didn't even test drive the vehicle on the highway after attempting to fix it, even though I had told them the problem I had was something that didn't occur until you had it over 50-60mph. How can you properly verify it was fixed if you don't test drive it correctly? The freeway is only a couple of miles down the road... come on now. Worse of all is the fact that they didn't even reimburse me fully. They only gave me my money back for the labor and not the parts. I understand that parts cost money, but if they weren't parts that were necessary for the job to begin with, and didn't fix my problem, how am I responsible to pay for them? It would be like me taking in my car for engine trouble and having the mechanic change my tires. Great, I have new tires now, but my engine is still messed up and not fixed. I tried to explain this to no avail. So, I was out a couple of hundred dollars, not to mention my time going back and forth multiple times, and my vehicle is still broke. I've never made a yelp review before, this is my first. My experience here was that bad where I had to share it. I'd be cautious of this place for any repairs. read more

Stopped by here based on recommendations from friends. Need a second opinion and quote on some work I needed to get done. Great people own the shop and are very friendly. Got the quote from them, which was $500 cheaper than what I was previously quoted at another place. So I made the appointment. Before the actual appointment they let me know they were able to get the part for a cheaper price than they thought and I saved even more money!
