This guy came to my home to fix my dryer and all he did was play around and not fix it but took my money and dryer never got fixed. I am a senior citizen and did not appreciate being taken advantage of. When I sent him text requesting my money back since he did not fix the dryer, he told me to go to hell. Joel and Cheri and Joel were amazing. It would take a page to list out all the time wasted over the past 3 WEEKS with our home warranty company and the incompetent repair guy they sent. Bought an older model upright freezer from this folks few months back, great condition, excellent prices, very friendly and helpful people.

I needed a used fridge. Joel set me up with a $275 Frigidaire that had an ice maker on Friday afternoon. He told me: "I'll deliver this to your home and put it in your fridge nook for $25 because you're nearby. Also, I'll test the ice maker overnight for you, and if its good I'll deliver the unit tomorrow afternoon. If it isn't good, I'll swap it for a working ice maker and deliver it Monday." He tested it, it was good, and he had that unit delivered and running the very next day. He even brought the tray filled with ice just to show me proof. That's a stand-up guy right there. I had to replace my old fridge, and due to the space I have, newer model refrigerators are a difficult fit. J&R just happen to have exactly the size and type I needed. This shop and the owners Joel and Sharee are great! We like the old school appliances for the most part because they last forever and are easily repairable. So do these folks at J&R. We had a trusted 25 year old washer who's motor finally bit the dust. I walked into their shop and was immediately greeted by their cat. Good sign. Sharee tried to convince me to repair the old one until I explained the problem. Then she got on the phone to find a motor while I browsed. She did find a back ordered motor for the price of their refurbished washers so I just picked one of theirs for a great price. Joel brought it to my house and installed it less than 2 hours later. Bought a used washer and dryer from them in January 2017. They delivered the units, it went very smoothly. Washer had a small problem a month later, they fixed it right away under their store's warranty. No problems since then (4.5 years). We're very happy with our purchase and with J&R. Look if you want reliable and affordable, get an older and used appliance from a place like this. I've easily saved $1000 by buying used, and it doesn't have all the digital displays and complicated circuit boards that cause new appliances to only last 5 years before you're spending $500 to fix it. read more

So I've been using J&R for many years and I must say, they never disappoint! I was in there the other day to buy another reliable used dryer, when in my conversation with the owner, he suggested that I just repair the dryer I had rather than buying a replacement. Now he did make money on my repair, but c'mon...he could have sold me a used appliance that day and would have made double of what he made in repairing my existing appliance. I cannot emphasize enough, how valuable that is...to know you can go to a neighborhood shop and won't be ripped off by a salesman that only cares about making his commission. The repair happened this morning in less than 1/2 hour and 1/2 the cost of a new one. Go see Joel if you're in need of a good used appliance or good repair service! You won't regret it! read more

Our dryer died. I was searching around Craigslist for a used dryer. Found their listing and I realized I was a lot better off buying a used dryer off an appliance store that would have gone though it to make sure everything was working. I glanced at J&R's yelp and saw the 2 most negative yelp reviews, along with the rest of the positive reviews. I realized how idiotic those negative reviews were and decided to give them a try. I had my research done beforehand and knew what brands we wanted. I called J&R, spoke to a lady and asked a few questions. Was told the price point and they had plenty of units for the brands I wanted. Delivery would be most likely Monday due to the holiday weekend. I called around 1pm on the Saturday before Easter. My expectations were low. I had my dad go in and buy a dryer. Joel delivered it in an hour or two and installed everything. I wasn't there but I was very pleased with the result. I wouldn't consider buying another appliance from Craigslist ever again. I work 6 days a week, last thing I want to do on my day off is get jerked around on craigslist or drive far for total junk. The price point was the same as what I found on Craigslist but that didn't include delivery and install for a very reasonable price. I hate writing reviews and rarely take the time to but I had to shed some light in spite of the other idiotic reviews. I wish all business could be this efficient and smooth. I wouldn't consider doing business with any other company in the future. Word of mouth is still one of the best methods of advertising and I would gladly let my friends and neighbors know about J&R. read more

This is LONG over due! I purchased a washer and dryer about a month ago and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I had called several times over the last year and I always reached the same woman and she was VERY nice every single call (even when I was not ready to purchase yet). The owner is honest and helpful and my experience with them could not have been better. Long story: I had a gorgeous expensive front loader.... turned mildewy and stinky. Then I purchased a beautiful Samsung washer and dryer with a clear washer glass top (gorgeous) ... a piece of garbage that broke several times. THEN I purchased (all within 3 years) a set from Sears. They delivered with the dryer broken (a big open dent so I could see the flame inside lol) and the washer did not work (loud and water did not cover the clothes) so I returned it and went to J & R to buy an old set THAT WORKS. And that is what I have!! A wonderful old school set that works beautifully and fast. Love it. I tell everyone I know about J& R because they were awesome. read more

Joel treated me right and I got a used commercial dryer in perfect shape for less than $200! I could not have even repaired the old dryer for less. Just bought my second fridge from J&R and it looks and works great. I don't need to worry because they guarantee their equipment for 90 days. J&R only buys good equipment and stands by what they sell. Buying a used fridge or any other appliance from a private buyer is like playing russian roulette with your money. The last fridge I bought from J&R over two years ago worked perfectly the entire time I owned it before I gifted it to my former landlord. I went to this place because of the wonderful Yelp reviews. The man that helped me was rude and condescending. He claimed to be the owner, or 1 of the owners, I forget which he said. Anyway, I don't know if it was because I am African American or not, but he seemed very disinterested. He kept stressing that they carry "high end" appliances. I was thinking to myself---"okayyyyy...and???" I don't know why he kept saying that. When I told him that was fine and I would still like to look around, he reluctantly showed me some fridges...I said I was looking for something without all the bells and whistles...he actually turned to me and said "You'd probably do better going to Lowes or some place like that. Our items are more for customers looking for custom made appliances, they usually spend $1,000 or more." I was shocked that he ASSumed that I couldn't afford that. Had I found exactly what I was looking for, I would've spent $2000. Price was NOT an option, quality and what I wanted was. With his nasty condescending attitude, even if he had offered me a free appliance, I wouldn't have taken it. It's not like he had a classy showplace in Beverly Hills. The shop was ill kempt and dusty. In this day and age, his attitude was left much to be desired. (Sidenote, I ended up going to another appliance store where a more evolved salesman sold me a $1500 fridge. I'm very satisfied!!! read more

We have been customers for more than 20 years, unfortunately Sharee who says she owns the business now just provided some of the worst customer service ever. Apparently they no longer care about your business. I called asking about what washers and dryer's they have in stock. I needed some basic pricing so I knew whether it was within my budget before I pay a cab to go into the shop. I happen to be a totally blind customer. Not only was she unwilling to give me any sort of information but hung up on me. I'm a very kind patient person. And I have a furred at least 20 people there direction over the past years but based on this I will no longer do business with them. Joel sold me a really good used washer at a good price and applied the house call charge to delivery, so delivery was free. I was recommended to J & R appliances a few years ago by A friend who use them for washers and dryer's so I gave them a try and I was not disappointed, they showed up on time they brought my stuff in and hooked it up brought extra equipment to hook it up that I did not pay for, about a year later the washer died and I called them up because they had given me a year warranty and he responded immediately sent me options and the next day he brought me A replacement set With a year warranty attached to it, now a year and a half plus I am moving out of my house I was ranting and I called him to ask him if he would be interested in buying back my equipment and we made a deal and he'll be picking it up next week, I highly recommend this company, they are a mom and pop business and stand by their word and they have quality products. read more

I bought a fridge a month and half ago in desperation as my old fridge died on me. I called the location and spoke to Joel, while having a panic attack, telling him ever in my freezer defrosted overnight. He told me he could send a technician over today. The tech called me around 11 and told me he could be over in less than 30 mins. He got to my place as promised and assessed the fridge that something was wrong with it and not keeping the correct temperature. I had to leave for an appointment.
