We came across this diner while staying in Denver unexpectedly and could not have found a better spot. This is a true family run gem with lots of character, great prices and good food. Portions are large so be warned. We were in for breakfast but wished we had reason to come back for lunch. They also do an incredibly service by giving all service members, and postal workers, half off their already low food prices. I am not military but all of my previous generations were and I greatly appreciate their patriotism and giving attitude. My recommendation - get whatever you can that has green chili (sauce) on it. Eggs, chicken fried steak, a burrito, a hamburger, whatever - just get green chili and you'll be happy. It is not spicy for those that like heat but it is friendly for most palates including my kids yet it has lots of flavor. yum. read more

My dad got a two-egg combo, and my mom had something with green chili. I wish I'd had the green chip because my mom's was really good. I liked the gravy and sausage on the mass confusion. The food is good, but it's unfortunate how rude one of the servers is. She seriously seems like a miserable person that really hates her job. (Mid thirties blonde girl). There are also always like 3 or 4 people there that just hang out. The owners kids or something. They've got some seriously foul mouths on them. Nobody really likes to hear the stuff that comes out of their mouths while trying to enjoy a meal. This is a down-home, comfort food diner on a main drag in Golden, CO. The portions are huge, the prices are cheap, and the food is good. Breakfast is served all-day, and you can order lunch at 8am. I was in town for a few days and found J.C's Cafe while looking for a breakfast restaurant. I was impressed by the great reviews! It wasn't too packed and there was good parking. I had read a review about the green chili and how amazing it was, so I ordered the huevos rancheros which comes smothered in green chili. HEADS UP VEGETARIANS... the green chili has pork in it. I was really disappointed because I was looking forward to trying it. Some advice to the crew at J.C's... start calling it "pork green chili" so that there's no misunderstanding. Other than that, the food was absolutely delicious and the service was quick and friendly. We also ordered the veggie square meal which was very flavorful. My 11 year old said it was the best bacon he's ever had! My 9 year old ate his entire Mickey Mouse pancake and slice of bacon and he didn't complain once. That's a HUGE deal! I had the 2+2+2 and it was delicious! The decor is eclectic and it smells like a greasy breakfast place, but it's so good! Friendly staff, quick service. Cheerful decor. Good prices. The food was "ok". Stick to simple breakfast choices. We enjoyed the french toast but the green chile was definitely lacking in flavor, it also came out cold and the coffee was weak. I will give it another try because I really want to like this place more. It's nice to have a local Mom n Pop breakfast place to hit up during the week. This place sucks and their staff is a real turn off, not helpful, acting like a bunch of kids, not like they are working and then the food was not cooked through. They were out of rice when I ordered at noon. Also if you get a "to go" box they charge .25 cents, I have never heard of this before and I had to ask what the charge is for. We are so glad we trusted the other 5 star reviews! We checked out Red Rocks at sunrise and wanted a good, home cooked breakfast. This place did NOT disappoint! We ordered a ton of food and it was out within 5 minutes (this was at 7 am on a Saturday). The food is nothing 'gourmet' but if you're wanting good food at more than fair pricing, this is definitely your spot to refuel! We ate it too fast for pictures, but each of our breakfasts came out on two plates each. If you leave here hungry, it's your own fault! read more

Service: The service was quite good, our waiter was nice and friendly and check on us a appropriate number of times. The other person I was with ordered a half burrito but got a full size, it was okay because we got it for the price of half a burrito. They also took my late request for hot chocolate. The main con was they ran out of Spinach and I had ordered an omelet that included it, this was a bit disappointing. Food: The burrito was delicious and very well done. Each breakfast said they came with a side of toast but we both did not get any which was also a downside. My omelet was good, but a little bit too cheeses the hash browns were delicious though. Overall would love to come back when they have spinach and see if they give me toast next time. I would recommend and will update this review when I come back. :) read more

This place is super strange, and I like it. When we walked it, the place was buzzing on a Saturday morning. The walls are that concrete brick stuff, painted white. I felt like I was in a preschool. But wait! Paint on some GIANT blue candles everywhere, some other random stuff, let people sign their names, paint a huge tribute to the troops with a dangly flag near it, and plop an "open carry welcome" sign on the front and you've got JC's. Which I'm guessing stands for Jesus Christ, since there's so much prayer stuff on the walls. Which then makes you feel like you're dining in a Christian day school. But then the server comes to your table and is overwhelmingly friendly. You look over the menu--some semblance of normalcy. Take refuge in the description of the Mass Confusion, debate over your egg style. Standard breakfast fare. The server is back. I let her know that I am gluten free, and wonder if the green chili is GF (IT IS). With grandma being celiac, they're used to allergies and have lots of suggestions on how to make your breakfast allergy free an amazing. Your order is placed, you sit back, and keep looking at all the walls. A little boy obsessively paces the dining floor looking for a dish--any dirty dish--he can bus and take back to the kitchen. It's a family place, and it's adorable. The food arrives, and it's usual and tasty. Satisfying, decent, and a good price. You leave happy, a little tripped out, and very full. Very good breakfast spot in Golden. Very reasonably priced, and the service makes you feel like you're family - everyone from the cook, the waiter, and the cashiers. I ordered the mass confusion. The only thing confusing about it is how all of it fits into one human stomach. A piling heap of sausage gravy, hash browns, eggs and bacon on two huge home made biscuits. When it came out, I seriously doubted that I could finish it, but I hunkered down and got it done. It's one of those meals that you are set until dinner - just make sure you don't need to be productive any time in the next three hours, because this one is putting you down for the count. read more

Stopped in during covid, and they are currently operating a bit differently than most chain stores at the moment. If you are afraid of the pandemic, I recommend you cook yourself some eggs at your house, otherwise enjoy the fresh air at J.C's cafe, the amazing people and amazing food. The coffee, and food, is better than some high end restaurants, yet also the most affordable. They could easily jack up their prices, but they don't. They are very spiritual, and loving, and accepting of everyone. If anyone deserves your business its these guys. read more

Landed in Denver from an early morning flight and was headed up to Steamboat (surprise!). I was both hungry and looking for a chance to stop at a lower elevation, because I've never really had problems with the altitude in Steamboat before but last time when we landed and drove straight up, I did. So, stopping for breakfast seemed like a win-win. Found JC's on Yelp and of course, if we find it here we write it a review here. Hubs had a smothered burrito and I had biscuits and gravy. Our server recommended a single biscuit for me and she was right. Portion was perfect. Hubs really enjoyed his breakfast - great flavor. Mine was very good - great portion and gravy with actual sausage in it. So often the sausage is MIA at other places. My hash browns were a little cool but that was my fault with an ill timed bathroom visit. On the upside, the ladies room was clean and pleasant. We enjoyed the local feel of the place. If you're looking for trendy shabby, this ain't it. You should go elsewhere for the kiwi-topped ricotta pancake or the crispy breakfast potatoes dusted with Parmesan and parsley garnish. But if you're looking for good solid traditional breakfast with some nice Mexican touches, this place is the real deal. A great diner that delivers great value and service. We really enjoyed our conversation with a regular - Joe. Our waitress (Sasha?? Young woman w exotic eyeshadow) was just excellent. We'll be back, for sure. PS: Just read another review that insulted both customers and staff. I couldn't disagree more. What he saw worthy of insults are really just good hard working people. JCs is a cool little spot, it has all the basics but like you would cook them - actually good with flavor, it's a good atmosphere and the service is awesome, the prices are good and they give you a decent amount of food. If I could give 3.5 I would. JC's is a place to go with hungry men for a good cup of coffee and a HUGE meal. I give it three stars because it's not the best breakfast I've had but that's not what JC's is going for. There a family operated company that serves up traditional diner food at huge portions for cheap. If I was an offensive lineman I'd be a happy camper here, but I would prefer slightly more refined food with a smaller serving size. Staff and service here are excellent! read more

We stopped into JC's due to amazing Yelp reviews. Well, we didn't even get to try the food or anything. I stood there for a few minutes while my friend used the restroom waiting to be seated, and wasn't acknowledged. I finally asked a waitress and was told to sit wherever. So I sat and waited, and waited.... For nothing. No menus, nothing. I watched the waitresses just making coffee and talking to the other table, and no one even came over. Only when we decided to get up and leave did one waitress start to grab menus. We walked out anyways. You walk in, it's unassuming, there are good ole folks sittin around slamming their food in their faces, and the servers are very easy breezy, "what do you want, hon?". Food came out in 5 minutes flat, maybe even less, steaming hot and well-seasoned. I got the "mass confusion", which is hash browns, eggs, biscuits and gravy, and your choice of meat piled together.
