Passing through Fallon and decided to stop in here for a burger. It does have a smokey smell as you come in, but it's at a casino in Nevada... everywhere smells like smoke in Nevada... It wasnt overwhelming that I didnt want to enter. After a few minutes I didnt even notice. I had the Burnt Bacon Burger and it was great. I did ask for some extra bacon on it, but that's just because I'm a bacon addict... the bacon and cheese mix would have been plenty. The service was fine for me. Orders were taken fairly fast and the food came out quick. My drink was never empty long enough for me to notice. I think my server noticed before I did. My only issue was Yelp had this labeled as a place with a full bar, and I think my meal would have been better with an Old Fashioned, but that's just me. read more

We decided to go out for dinner and give this place a shot in spite of the three stars. The service wasn't the best as the server was busy chatting away with the cook. We ordered a couple of burgers and they came back back cooked ( we let it go because it was still tasty). The problem was the garlic fries that we ordered, they came cold like if they just sat in the counter and got old and soggy. We complained to the waitress and "no apology", but she did bring us another set of fresh garlic fries. Shen also forgot about our table as i kept making sounds with my straw to note that i was out of diet coke, heck she passed by and didnt care. Never again for us! When I went into this place I felt it was a little pricey. Then I saw the plate of food and realized I was wrong. I ordered and appetizer sampler for $10 and I received nachos, a couple chicken wings, potato skins & onion nuggets. The chicken wings were average but the other three were very good ad the dipping sauces were delicious. The burger... a half pound of delicious, juicy beef topped with pretty much whatever you want. I have jack cheese, avocado, bacon, lettuce, onion & tomato. The side I picked was garlic fries and they were awesome. This plate was $10 and I could not imagine eating that entire plate. Our service was good. The food was great. I have not tried the steak but if you are craving a good, juicy burger in Fallon... this is your place. If you like garlic, get the garlic fries. I wouldn't dine in at this restaurant because it smell's just like the casino... stale, smokey, old & used. It is clean looking and the employees are really nice. I've ordered to-go the portobello supreme, and the black and blue burger with garlic fries. Both burgers are tastey & big. The patties are fresh, never frozen, and it makes a difference. They had nice charing on the sides. The fries are good, but the garlic is not fresh, its the canned crushed garlic. So it isn't as good as fresh garlic fries but it is still good & it's nice that it's an option. This is my uncle's favorite restaurant in Fallon. Everytime we go out to eat, we eat here. The staff is always welcoming and the food is great. But I don't recommended the terayaki bowl other then that everything else is good! Keno is available to play while you eat. Drinks are ordered from the bar. Other than the Courtyard, and depending on your preferences, this is probably the best breakfast place in Fallon. JD Slinger's has more of a traditional, bacon and eggs kind of breakfast, while the Courtyard is probably a bit healthier. I love JD Slinger's skillets, I usually get the one with avocado :D It is SO good! The waitress and waiter are really nice, and the owner (at least I think he's the owner) is usually there in the morning. They seem to change cooks every once in awhile, but the food has always been really good. They have the best toast (and I love toast) with lots of butter and a good selection of jelly. The coffee is a bit more bitter than I'm used to, but I like it. The casino is connected to the dining room, but the noise isn't noticeable. I've only had dinner a few times, but the burgers are amazing! The best burgers in town! read more

Let start that this is for my experience last night (Mother's Day). My wife and I usually go here on Saturday nights. The food is good and service by our favorite waitress (Lena) is always exceptional. But last night the service was very poor, the waitress ( no name tag) took her time and never came back to check on us after we got our food. When I mentioned it to her her comment was "I have 4 other tables and was busy". If you can't handle 5 tables then you should find another job. When I told her we have had better service when there were more people than there was last night, her other comment was "you don't have to tip me". I was tempted to go back and get it off the table. Also the other servers were handing out roses to the mothers, but none offered to my wife. We will go back but never on a Sunday night. read more

I DID end up returning to this steakhouse (been about four months ago by now)...and I'm glad I did! I went in during the breakfast time frame....around 9:00, and I ordered an omelette and coffee, and it was really pretty good! Not greasy, not bland. Just right. My earlier complaint (other than the steak being far too rare for consumption) was the issue of the smoke from the casino lingering into the eating area. I noticed that this issue seemed to have been addressed. After I was done eating, I asked the waitress if I could speak to a manager about that concern from my earlier visit. She did me one better...the owner was on site, and she brought HIM over to talk to me! What a nice guy! The owner and I spoke for a good 15 minutes. He told me that the problem is not as noticeable during the breakfast hours, as the casino area is less crowded at that time. He had gotten a number of complaints over time about the smoke, and really there was not much he could do about it since he leased the restaurant portion of the casino, and he was pretty much able to do only so much about the smoke. He was empathetic and caring and he seemed to love providing good, quality food at a reasonable price. Now I have a better understanding of the smoke issue too. So, all being said, I will go back again....earlier than later! read more

First time here. My steak was cooked to perfection at Med. The Garlic fries were so delicious and my salad was crisp and fresh tasting. I got the side salad with my dinner it wasn't anything fancy but a great size to not fill me up before my steak. I went there on New Year's Eve for a little snackie before the festivities started. The first thing and only down side to the whole trip was the smell of smoke from the Casino. I am not a smoker so this is something I always notice on people, seats or buildings. Take that into consideration. If you are a smoker you may not notice. This place at one point had been a Heidi's. Back when I was in High School we would come here to get our midnight munchies on after dirt parties. It had passed its prime long ago. But has since been remodeled and renamed. I was very surprised to see the decor. It was very nice and clean. No more mice running from booth to booth. New floor to ceiling! Really nice. I ordered a mushroom burger. I was happy to read that they made their own patties. I think it said never frozen. I will have to double check on that. I would not call this a steak house. Yes they have steak but it is more a burger place. They also had a wonderful artichoke dip that was so good with corn chips. I will come back just for that. You can also get bar drinks at the table, they served Shock Top, Blue Moon and Sierra Nevada, among others. I will go back. It was a very nice burger dinner. read more

I had a regular burger with the garlic fries and he had a steak. The presentation of the regular burger was actually better than most, as they had included a steak knife down the middle of this gigantic burger. Their garlic fries were also good, not overpowering and not underdone like most places. It didn't seem like a busy night but the server seemed overwhelmed with her workload and only checked in on us once. She may have been new or something hinky with the schedule may have occurred. The only complaint I have is they didn't use the traditional cheese for a philly. I got the onion nuggets, really good along with the chipotle sauce they are served with, perfect amount of spice. Blue cheese sirloin was as good or better than a lot of places that are double the price. $20 for a 12 oz steak with blue cheese, including salad, vegetables, onion chunks (basically onion rings), toast, and iced tea. well have been here before. this little dining room gets super crowded because the food is so good. I used to have the standard hair cut look, but pandemic and pension only go so far so haircut not there, just me a long hair retired military 66 year old; no one could tell. It was take out and I guess somehow my order was not received on phone. Didn't care about it and reordered. Food came out within 15 minutes. The only thing was the waitress yelling at me "what?" mid table service about them never hearing about the order I placed. Wrong name or no such name thing. Remember when you head out here to Northern NV it's not Washoe County. These places are close knit communities with military members active and retired. Still the food is good and the turn around time for service is usually 4 Star and above just waitresses get very stressed out during rush hours; attitudes are short. I've been to Fallon a few times and decided to stop in for a bite in this restaurant. It was very quiet and not many customers when I stopped in for an early dinner. The cute waitress was nice and consistently checked on me to see if I needed anything and to see how my meal was. A decent menu, although I thought there would be more steak options. In particular, t-bone (didn't notice it on the menu). However, I had the BBQ chicken meal. There was plenty of food for the price and it was good! Like others have mentioned, I could smell cigarette smoke from the casino. I didn't notice a TV with something other than Keno showing. My 3-star rating is fair for a first time visit I believe. We stop by JD's at least once or twice a week for breakfast. The food quality is tasty, but my only complaint is, why they cannot make a decent Belgian waffle? I've yet to have one, Golden Brown with a slightly crispy outside and tender inside. It's either hard as a frisbee or soft as a crepe. Hopefully someone with a clue will show them how something so simple can be made. Overall though, the waitresses are delightful and always greet you with a smile. One night for work and we had breakfast here. Has a lot of cowboy memorabilia decor. A little out of date but the service was excellent and cordial. They had a good selection of breakfast. Okay so to start this off... I ordered a vodka cranberry and it was just juice. The waitress was wonderful but the food was... let me say this plainly... tasted like old Arby's roast beef crushed together with bricks. I believe a 6 year old could make better steak than what I had. A methed out hobo could grill a Walmart steak on a an electric griddle better than what they did to that cow. A group of us got steak and all of them were absolute TRASH. Like I got a Waffle House steak out of the garbage and ate it. I will not be going back. read more

We decided to try this place recently and were very disappointed. The person doing the cooking obviously doesn't know how to cook fish or meat. My husband ordered the salmon and steak combo and had to send it back as the steak was not cooked well done as requested and the salmon was raw. The steak came back the second time as medium-well done but the salmon was still inedible. The appetizers were okay although the potato skins that were supposed to have chives on them had chopped up green onion and were not finely chopped. If you decide to give this place a try, do not order the fish! The service we received deserves a 4 star rating (I had to ask the manager for silverware so I docked 1 star for this).
