I went in for smog & was told I needed a catalytic converter which was over $900 for the part. Asked the California assistance program fir help & when he did the diagnostic it ended up being the exhaust manifold crack part $88. Then after 4 days of waiting I got my car back with no power & a charge of $237 above the $500 the state was paying him. My car still wouldn't pass smog so i had to go to the referee.Then after a month the gaskets were leaking. I took it back & he attempted to charge me half for the replacements that he originally put in. He tried to over charge me a woman whenever he could but once my male friend went in to discuss it the price usually changed by half. Very shady!!!!! read more

Such a wonderful man! I had brought my car in last month to get smog, it wouldn't connect to the DAD system, so he didn't charge me, today (12/1/17) I had taken my car to the dealership and they told me to have a test and repair smog shop disconnect the ABS Module since that could've been the problem. I came back here and told him what they told me, first we tried with the ABS Module on, didn't connect, then we took it off, and it passed! I was super stoked and so was he. Went in for smog. Quick and easy, reviews are correct with the friendly service. But what stands out is the honesty. I went to the Honda dealership two weeks ago for an oil change and was told my brake and power steering fluids were "contaminated" and I needed new back brake pads too. Unfortunately for Honda I'm knowledgable about cars (brother's been an auto tech for years) and know "contaminated" really stands for "bullshit." I wanted to see what another tech would really say, since I was already there, he scoffed at the word contaminated knowing it was used to try to scare me and checked it himself. Nothing wrong with the fluids, a little low, and I had at least 50% on my back brake pads, which would last quite sometime more. Definitely passed the honesty test. Next time I'll bring it in for other services to see how well a job JJ can do. read more

I have never written a Yelp review before but I have to for JJ. JJ is an amazing guy!! Always so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Today after he helped me out he came over to chat and even played some piano for me :) His staff are all great guys too. I've been going to him for years for smog checks on all of my family's cars. He does everything else too, not just smog. He recently moved to a newer, much bigger place so make sure that's where you go! It's at 1281 S Oxnard Blvd, right across from el pollo norteno.
