Brought my 1978 GMC Blazer into to have a muffler fixed and some oil leaks. He charged me $150 to check it and everything else. He kept my Blazer for over a month. I got a bill for just under a thousand dollars. I drove of and the vehicle staled and would not start. I finally got it started and drove it right back. When I pulled in it was passing oil and running like shit. He told me it's not his problem and told me he doesn't hate time. I was thinking about taking him to court. But my wife told me to leave it. After driving down Oxnard blvd and looking at yelp, i found this place per i saw good reviews and it was somewhat close to where i live and i procrastinated on getting a smog per i didnt fully read my dmv registration letter; anyways as i pulled up and parked and got out of my car, JJ was sitting at the table and was starting to eat, he asked if i needed a smog and i said yes but i can wait so he can finish his lunch he said no hes ready now. My vehicle had one blemish on the the STAR smog check and this shop took care of it (this morning). Period. I concur-great customer service. JJ ( I assume that is him) is a stand-up, salt-of the earth kind of guy. My only regret is it that I found this place later. This, in contrast to the virtually fraudulent experience STAR smog check repair in Camarillo (if you see car repair shop attached to the KMART on Arneill drive-run away. I am as pro-small business as you get, but it pains me to say-learn from my experience). If you're looking for the BEST prices in town with amazing customer service, look no further. I drive a 1999 Dodge Caravan and everywhere else that has those huge promo signs "Smog Checks For $25" all have small print that says"extra for vans and trucks and cars from 1999 and older." So after telling them my car make, model, and year and that I needed a smog certificate I was looking at approx $65 everywhere else. JJ quoted me $45, I was skeptical thinking there would be hidden costs but sure enough he was a man of his word and when it came time to pay I got change back on my $50!!!! He is also quite the character; friendly, outgoing, and talented on the piano! Thanks for a great experience, I'll see ya soon to do some much needed work on my poor old car :) read more

Great service at this shop. I needed a smog so I could sell my car. My cars system wasn't ready for a smog check due to disconnecting the battery for several hours. They told me to drive it for 20-30 miles and come back and check again. Came back the following day (today) around 4:00 pm and everything went smoothly. I pulled right up and JJ took care of me on the spot. I was in and out of the shop within 20 minutes. JJ is an extremely friendly and pleasant person. They claim to be a professional smog shop but do a horrible job. They smogged my car and said it passed. I made arrangements to buy the car because it passed and ended up buying it when the time came to smog it again they said it didn't pass because it has a different engine but I made no changes since I bought it. They refused to give me back my money. They do dirty smogs as well, they tried to buy the car off of me to dirty smog it and sell it. Not recommended. The state should definitely look into their shadiness. read more

My 03 Dodge Dakota Truck failed smog. Was concerned about finding an honest mechanic to diagnose the problem and not rip me off. Did some research on Yelp and found JJ's after reading other reviews. No regrets he took care of the issue and was very reasonable. My truck passed smog at the first smog shop I had taken it too (free retest). I went in for smog & was told I needed a catalytic converter which was over $900 for the part. Asked the California assistance program fir help & when he did the diagnostic it ended up being the exhaust manifold crack part $88. Then after 4 days of waiting I got my car back with no power & a charge of $237 above the $500 the state was paying him. My car still wouldn't pass smog so i had to go to the referee.Then after a month the gaskets were leaking. I took it back & he attempted to charge me half for the replacements that he originally put in. He tried to over charge me a woman whenever he could but once my male friend went in to discuss it the price usually changed by half. Very shady!!!!! read more
