JJ's was referred to me by a friend and JJ rocks! The first time I called to see if he could get my smog check done quickly because I had to pick up my daughter. I was in and out in 20 minutes! I came back the next morning for the other car and again in & out in less than 20 minutes!! JJ will be opening a new, larger, shop 12 blocks south, so keep an eye out! He's worth it! read more

JJ and his crew are tops.completely trustworthy and honest. JJ has done our brakes, a wheel bearing job on my Tacoma 4x4. Numerous electrical repairs. He's done brakes on my wife's Murano. He's great for troubleshooting and figured out a problem on my friend's Mini Cooper. His prices are fair and he stands by his work. He does any kind of work you need. read more

I highly recommend this shop as JJ is a top notch mechanic who does his due diligence to diagnose the problem. I had my car towed here and JJ ordered a starter and got my car running again better than ever. he also changed the brake pads and oil and the brakes feel phenomenal now.. you never want to do repairs but it's nice to know the mechanic you choose is trustworthy and skilled which JJ is surely both. thank you JJ and Juan? for taking great care of my car and getting me on the road again.. highly recommend! read more

I was looking for a place to get my smog check and I was looking here(on Yelp) and I found JJ. Well, I went on Friday around 1:30pm. It worked out great! I was able to just drive up and they got me in & out in 20 minutes. It's a great place for smog check. The price was fair and they took good care of me. This place is very expensive charge me 51.00 dollars and my car did not pass and recommended me to retire car or I can pay 88.0O dollars to see what was wrong with car I asked him if I would get a retest for free when he checks and repairs it he said it would be extra charge of 31.00 I called other smog places and they don't charge retest if your car fails Would not recommend this place!!!! read more

I just stopped in today for a smog check after another place I found on Yelp had their hours listed wrong and I'm glad I did. Even though there was one car ahead of me when I arrived, I was still in and out within 20 minutes. If there was no one ahead it literally would have been 10 minutes from arrival to departure with my newly smog checked car. When I was looking for a Smog Check I was looking for two things, a great price and very fast service. Not only was JJ equivalent to the best price I was quoted in my few minutes of research, I was in and out in minutes and JJ was just a really nice, cool guy who was fun to talk to while he ran the test and did the inspection. Great price, Fast Service, Nice guy, very professional. Highly recommended. 5 stars as JJ provides a smog check quick, fast and cheap with a touch of fun. read more

Check engine light was on and JJ replaced the catalytic converters for a great deal. Drove my car around and she passed smog. JJ also gave us a great deal on replacing the A/C. We highly recommend bringing your car here to get a tune up as JJ does everything but paint. read more

I wanted to come on and leave a five star review for JJs shop. I was in town for a birthday party and my car was having a hard time starting. I went over to AutoZone who ran a diagnostic and gave me JJ's phone number. On the spot JJ took care of me and and fixed the sensor at very little cost and in no time at all even though it was a Saturday afternoon.He also was very fun and an amazing piano player which my girls enjoyed hearing him when we went to pick up the car. I would recommend anyone to go to his shop. read more

I went with my sister to get her car smogged here. No appointment... No problem. We were greeted with such a positive attitude and great smile. We were there around 4p I believe. Dropped off the car, a customer was ahead of us..We walked next door to get a donut, walked back and the car was done!!! Fast service. That's how I met Danny, who I later learned is one of the owners along with his cousin Oscar. From the beginning, what stood out was how straightforward and reasonable everything felt. The labor rate was fair, the communication was clear, and instead of pushing one expensive path, Danny took the time to explain different options for replacement parts and what made sense financially. I live in Woodland Hills, and Sharp's is in Oxnard, so this was not exactly around the corner for me. But after that first experience, I felt comfortable enough making the trip because it already felt worth it. After that, I came back with my own 2016 Chevy Volt for an A/C issue. Since that car does not have a traditional belt-driven compressor setup, I knew it was going to take more than generic trial-and-error diagnosis. Danny was patient, methodical, and clearly willing to think through a problem instead of just throwing parts at it. The issue ended up getting solved efficiently, which was a huge relief. One other thing that really stuck with me while I was there: multiple people from the neighborhood stopped by just to say hello to the team at Sharp's. That kind of thing says a lot. You can tell this is one of those local businesses that people genuinely trust and feel connected to. It's not always easy to find a shop that feels honest, competent, fair, and genuinely helpful, but that was absolutely my experience here. I left feeling really grateful that we found them. Shops like this are getting harder and harder to find, and I'll be very happy to keep bringing our cars back to Sharp's, even if it means driving out from Woodland Hills. Highly recommended.

As he was getting it done, he got to taking the filter off. It was super tight and hard to remove. He had to use tongue pliers. When it finally came off.... we discovered an OEM filter....? Shouldn't the filter look a lot more cleaner and less used? Last time I had this done was about 2-3 months ago. Clearly the multiple times I've gone, they didn't replace the filter as I was told. Nearly $100 dollars for an unfinished job that could have potentially hurt my car. This is absolutely unacceptable and a straight up scam. I imagine they tightened it up so it would be hard to get to it or they never even touched it. Save your money and go somewhere with honor. I was thinking of going here for my brakes but I'm glad I dodged that bullet. So disappointed.

At almost 70 this is the first Yelp review I ever did but JJ is worth it! I first went to him about ? 15 years or more ago (at his former location back then). Another smog shop "broke my spark plug wire" and said it would not pass smog as they pointed to a pulley on the engine and said the whole thing needed replacing and of course that would be some big bucks. It ran perfectly when I took it to them but now it was running horribly. I took it to JJ's smog for a second opinion. He instantly found the problem, a broken spark plug wire. I bought new wires at the auto parts store and put them on. He smogged my car, it passed and he did not charge me anything but the smog charge. I have been his loyal customer ever since. He has seen our daughter grow up from a baby and has taken the time to play his piano with her every time we smogged our vehicles over these many years. Now that I know he does all types of auto repairs, I will have everything on both of our vehicles done only by JJ and his mechanics! JJ is an HONEST and real GREAT guy! What more could you ask for? read more

Been a mechanic myself for over 40 years. I have several cars that JJ has worked on as well as all the smog testing. From personal experience, the work is good and he is a man of his word. So when I read reviews like the one posted by this person "Vahnid W." it makes my blood boil. Check that person out - all negative reviews! That tells you something right there. To try and ruin business reputations and make businesses defend themselves is terrible. Then to attack on a personal level is beyond terrible. That is the good and the bad of Yelp - no idiot filters. I've been a repeat customer for at least 3 years now. JJ is honest and believes in providing good service so that his customers would always come back. To that dude who gave him 1 star for not getting his call answered on time, get real man. And to the other dude who had a problem with his bill, why don't you try talking to him about it instead of writing a scathing review. It's not fair that people can only read your side of the story. Both sides need to be heard and based on all other reviews (including my own), JJ is a stand up guy and deserves a chance to explain his side. read more

Definitely the best smog check ever. AND I noticed a piano in the waiting area and when I asked JJ about it, he,, thinking I was a rock star, said he would play for me when my smog check was done. He did a great job on my van and then HE PLAYED THE BEST PIANO RENDITION OF THE EAGLES "HOTEL CALIFORNIA" I HAVE EVER HEARD. And when I applauded him for doing that he played the guitar solo from the Grateful Dead's "ALTHEA"on a guitar which was hanging on the wall. Priceless. This guy is very honest and friendly. JJ runs his business the way it should be ran. I had a bad experience at another smog repair/test center in el rio (stay away!!) they failed me and didnt explain why, just collected the $$ and said oh well. Went there around 4pm on a Weds afternoon. Parking is kinda tight but manageable. Was greeted right away by JJ and hooked my Truck right up. Was done in about 10 minutes and passed no problem. It was $50 for smog and filing DMV certificate. Some places might be a couple dollars cheaper but time is money and I know JJ will be doing my smog checks from now on, Thanks! read more

I went to 3 smog places and 2 other mechanics to try and get my bmw to pass smog. It took 4 months with no results. I found JJ's through Yelp and I will never go anywhere else. Got my 2005 RV smog checked there yesterday and JJ had to troubleshoot several problems before we could even get to the smog check. Everyone was kind, helpful and thorough.
