The next day I was told brakes were NOT necessary right now, and we should reassess in 5k miles. This works for me because I trust these people with a trust that only comes with experience and proving themselves over time. The cost for checking my brakes, was nothing, a courtesy. They are great at explaining the difference between 'this is a problem-don't drive' vs 'this is a problem, fix in next 15k miles'. I thought I had a bearing issue. They looked at it and said it was a tire issue that really did need prompt replacement. They could not fix it that day (too late to get new tires). So they recommended another shop nearby. Another time, they declared an issue was beyond their ability and suggested the dealer. Much preferred than spending for half a job before they got stuck and cost me a bunch.
