I had a pedicure "More Pedi" at Jlounge Spa. The spa is clean and my technician was very friendly. I wanted to treat myself so I was excited about my appointment. The appointment lasted about 90 minutes which is long but the quality of the pedicure is very low. The technician was very slow but she was extremely quick when she got to the foot file and massage part. They both lasted about 2 minutes. It was not a relaxing experience. She could have done the entire appointment in 25 minutes. I spent almost $100 on the pedi (with tip) and my feet look the same as before my appointment. I won't be back. read more

I dont really have any major complaints about the services I received, but the prices are not appropriate. The customer service was wonderful, the atmosphere is relaxing and quiet...but I was expecting a better experience based on the website, reviews, and prices. I have been to several other cities and gotten much much more at far nicer spas for much less. I am new to town and this is the first place I tried- Im really hoping this is not the best Boulder has to offer? They advertise the use of all natural products, but if you choose those particular nail polishes you are charged extra (Im not sure if this is mentioned on the website or not). I have an allergy so its important for me to use all natural/vegan nail polish and I was excited to have found a place with such products. However, when I found out about the extra charge I just had them use the stuff I brought. Also, when I was checking out I explained to the receptionist how I wanted my tip divided between the two ladies that worked with me- I was told the tip would be divided based on the cost of the service. Im pretty sure that should be my decision. I really wanted to love this place, but I think even if they adjusted the prices I wouldn't go back. read more

I loved the energy of J Lounge as soon as I walked in. They were able to squeeze me in for a pedicure at the very last minute and even make time for the Detox Pedicure treatment. Jennifer was kind, relaxed and confident. We had a lovely conversation, I loved all the natural smells and textures used for my pedicure and I left relaxed and happy. I have been getting my nails done at J Lounge for a couple of years with two other friends. We have been gracious and generous customers. The last two visits my nails have chipped within two days. I found out my friend who used the vinalux (spelling). Her nails were even worse. I also found out that my other friend's nails chipped up until the past two times. I am curious. The manager called me back and referred it to the owner who has yet to call. I am disappointed with the customer service and response and of course my chipped nails and my friends. We will be looking for a new salon and do not recommend. read more

The place was pretty. But some of the staff were cold. All the comments have been very positive about the staff so i was shocked. We would ask questions about the nail polish rings/samples... like which colors were gel and which ones were not and no one would answer us. We asked if we could have a flower painted on our toe and were told they don't do flowers. We had scheduled our appointments weeks in advance because it was for a wedding. I scheduled a mani pedi combo and when i said i had fake nails that needed to come off they said they didn't have enough time. I left without the mani. Also if you have really dry skin on your feet don't bother.... They were not able to get the dry skin off my feet. Still very rough. I honestly wouldn't have even cared about the rough skin had the environment felt welcoming and warm. read more

Went for a Shellac manucure with tips/pedicure before my wedding. Was supposed to last 3 weeks. One of my toe nails lost a big chip the following day, and my finger nails started falling apart and breaking 1 week later. I went back to remove them. Had to wait 1h even if I had an appointment. Left with blisters on my toes because they brutally filed them to remove the shellac, and had to pay 60$ just to remove this shit and leave with no colors on my nails. Never again. read more

Scheduling - the good - got in that day (on a weekend!); the annoying - asked about location and whether gps normally gets you there easily (it doesn't) and I had to point out one doesn't schedule a pedicure then a massage... Services - the good - the massage therapist was talented; the annoying - the therapist forgot one service (though didn't charge for it) however also took lightly what I didn't want/did need. It's about the client... Services - the good - the pedicure person was friendly and gave me a warm neck wrap; the annoying - she asked if I wanted my nails cut and I said yes. Two days later, I had to cut them myself because they were too long. During this service, someone cleaned near me (big pet peeve of mine) and another person used their laptop (that's not a relaxing vision). Both services were pricey. I've had better services at more reasonable rates. They have the essentials of a great spa but the vibe/customer service wasn't up to standard for me. I'll need to find another business to make my salon and to take my sisters & friends. read more

Jennifer Zrubek is the best! I started seeing her before she opened the JLounge and have never been disappointed. While I've been to JLounge for a number of services my favorite is the "Fresh Face" facial. She is so good at picking products and procedures to really help my improve my skin. I love that she incorporates a scalp, hand, and foot massage into the session. I always leave feeling completely relaxed. When I ask, she is very helpful with product recommendations without being pushy about purchasing anything. Her lash/brow tinting and waxing still are also outstanding. Boulder Life mag recommended J Lounge and they were spot on - this place is a relaxing haven of pampering without being too fussy. No harsh chemical smells, in fact, they poured real dried lavender and other herbs into the pedi tub - it was a symphony for the nose. Everyone was competent, warm, and thorough. This is a beautiful, relatively new spa located right on the corner of Walnut and 30th. The space is very subtly luxurious and calm and the staff is professional and warm. I had a fantastic pedicure that has lasted for months. I love that the products are all natural - very important in a nail salon and I love that you pick out your colours at your seat using a nail chip board. Can't wait to go back! read more

By far the best facials that I've had!! After moving to Colorado, my skin was very dry and I started the search for a spa. I found Jen at jlounge and I'm SO happy that I did! I've been getting monthly facials from Jen for the past 5 months and my skin looks so much healthier. I go back and forth between the hydration facial and the ageless facial, but I also get the microderm with it. I also get the brow cleanup monthly and I love that I can do it all (facial, microderm, and brow cleanup) in one appointment! :) They definitely know what they're doing, and I love that they greet you with water or tea. They have a great reminder system (they can text your phone) and that makes sure that I'll never miss an appointment. I recommend checking out jlounge, especially for their skin care! read more

Oh boy I really hate to write a bad review for this salon because I've been going for quite awhile and, well, let me start with the pros: It's clean, has great ambiance and I never worry that I'll get an infection. Plus the experience is a bit more upscale than your traditional walk-in, bargain salon. The neck warmers and fresh tea are nice too. Lots of colors and the quick dry polish, natural nail polishes and gels, etc. CONS: EXPENSIVE! I had a mani/pedi and my bill was $105! The pedi is ok but I notice that the ladies put the polish a little too close to the cuticle so that when it starts growing out there is a sort of hard ridge looking thing at the bottom instead of smooth flat edge. Otherwise, the nail length and shape was what I asked for and I like the color of the quick dry polish. My manicure: I got some kind of safer/healthier gel because my nails are in such bad shape. I'm older and my nails have never been nice, always thin and peeling and splitting. The tech was wonderful about making them look decent for my trip the next day. She used a pinkish tinted gel on my extremely short nails. My goal was to camoflauge the ridges and ugliness of my nails for my 4 day trip and hopefully to have them look decent for a couple of weeks. She also assured me that they would remove easily as I've had a lot of trouble getting gel nails to come off without tons of acetone based remover. I left for my trip the next day and in the airport - the very next day - I looked down and the nail on the index finger of my left hand was completely lifted off hanging on my a thread. It literally peeled completely off. I took a picture of it - and another picture of the entire piece of polish that lifted right off and I sent it via email. I got a sincere apology and an offer to fix it immediately. Unfortunately I was about to board my plane so obviously I couldn't take her up on her offer. When I got to my daughter's house I used her clear polish to at least make that nail shiny like the others. It was a completely different color and look as the gel nails were pink and quite a bit thicker. The next day another nail on the same hand (the thumb) lifted clean off! I'm right handed and would have expected that hand to have the issues! Now, after just 10 days post mani I've had 3 nails on the left hand and one on the right lift clean off (guess I won't have any trouble removing this GEL mani ! ). The problem is that for $45 I should have gotten a manicure that lasted at LEAST a week! Not only a day. I wasn't offered a refund (which I SHOULD have been since the reason I went in on the day before my trip was to insure no issues with my nails for the 4 days I'd be gone). That didn't happen. I am likely not going to return to this spa for that reason . I cannot afford to pay over $100 for a mani/pedi and not have it be stellar. It SHOULD be stellar for that price right? I'm sad because I REALLY like the atmosphere and the natural products. Maybe natural products just aren't that good yet. In any case, I cannot justify the cost any longer. Sad. UPDATE: Julie contacted me and apologized and offered me a redo with a service upgrade and told me that they do this service regularly without these issues...so maybe it's my nails? In any regard, I think it was classy that she offered to correct the problem and so I'm increasing the stars from 3 to 4 read more

I started going to jLounge after I moved to boulder about 4 months ago. I have excellent and enjoyable visits every time I go. I've been for facials, manis and pedis and every service is top notch. I'm a big fan of their website and the fact that I can schedule an appointment online as well as on the phone. It's a little more then most salons, but it's 100% worth it for the cleanliness, ambiance and product offerings. I have recommended this spot to my friends and will continue to do so! read more

Great if you don't want to go Asian. Over priced but competes with the other salons in boulder that are also ridiculously expensive. J Lounge is a relaxing and open atmosphere and they do great facials and waxing with high frequency. Peggy is the lady to go to for nails. Waxing is also super expensive here read more

Amelia was my technician today, and she gave me a hydration facial with a stem cell add on. It was just what I needed, I have very dry skin and she suggested I use the stem cell add on, so my skin would thicken and eventually my acne and dryness would reduce. I've been here before for a fresh face facial with Claire (she did a brilliant job as well), so I was excited to come back for more! Both facials were fabulous and left my skin feeling clean, refreshed, and well hydrated. I love that both Amelia and Claire left me with a list of things to do/get to better my skin's overall health. Just had an amazing pedicure. Jessie was thorough and gave a great leg and foot message. I'm normally extremely ticklish on the bottom of my feet but she used extra care and there was nary a flinch! Never returning. This places makes it hard to find a good nail technician to keep coming back. They change your appointment to whomever even if you scheduled it with someone else based on the recommendation. Then I say and listened for 2 hours the technician I was suppose to get gossip about the company and then my own technician to forget about me. Not to mention the price and no chip gel polish was ruined before I walked out there door I had to stop the technician because she was making it worse. Wasn't worth my time or money when I can dedicate my time to a company that treats customers better. read more

I am visiting from Austin and found this wonderful spa. As a salon owner myself, I can tell you this is a fabulous place. I loved the environment and enjoyed one of the best manicures I've ever had with Daniela. She was very sweet, personal, and paid great attention and detail to her work. I also purchased a gift card for my sons girlfriend because I liked it so much. Only negative was the front desk girls. They were slow and not as personal as the other people that worked at the spa. Love, love, love, love this place. It's quiet and calm and clean and so relaxing when you're just sitting back having your feet soaking prior to a pedi. The gals who work on nails are fantastic, and they now offer a more eco-friendly polish option (which may not last as long but doesn't smell as bad as regular polish!). The treats and treatments here are great, and I take my mom whenever she's in town. They have seasonally-inspired scrubs for your feet and I think their pedis are probably the best I've received, each lasting over 3 weeks!!! My only sad note is I wish they were just a bit cheaper... I'm a spa snob -- I will admit it -- having lived all over the world and being privileged to have had pretty amazing spa experiences. J Lounge is not in a fancy hotel or tucked into a mountain canyon, etc... it's on the corner of a little Boulder strip mall. HOWEVER, the attitude, services and ethos are equally as good as a fancy-schmancy hotel, spa, retreat center, resort, etc. Actually perhaps better in the sense that the staff and aestheticians are so friendly, cheerful, kindly and efficient! I have only had waxing and pedicures (so far); however, I liked it enough to take my elegant daughter back there, and one of my more glamorous Boulder friends has given me a birthday gift certificate there -- both telling. In addition to the great services, they have lovely teas on offer for clients before their service; they also offer beautiful body products and artists'jewelry, etc. for purchase. It isn't Malibu or Tuscany, fine -- but the view of the mountains from the pedicure bank of seats can be pretty engaging, especially while having a great foot & leg massage! Definitely check it out while in Boulder. read more
