As a first time home buyer, I had a horrible experience with this company. The owner Scott was my inspector so I had high expectations. He claimed he had over 10 years of general contractor experience yet missed several basic issues that I'm now paying myself to fix when I could have been credited by the seller. I paid $425 and wish I would have never gotten it in the first place, as it was a waste of time and money. First, he showed up over an hour late while we waited. Second, he brought his son to train with him which wasn't relayed to us beforehand. His son crawled up in the attic space and I'm not sure he even knew what to look for. He left the light in the attic area on and closed the entrance before he left. This light remained on for 3 months before we moved in until I had to crawl up there myself to turn it off. The biggest issue though was the failing grout in the upstairs bathrooms. A majority of the tile upstairs had failing or missing grout. Scott made no mention of this to us in person or the report. Come to find out, there was issues with the tile install that was done previously. Every contractor I've brought in since for an estimate to correct it has asked "did you use a home inspector? This should have been caught." I guess Scott's 10+ years of general contracting didn't prepare him for the most basic of findings. Now I'm paying almost $3000 for this to be corrected. To top it off, his office sent me my report late and I had to contact them several times to add missing items on the final report they forgot to document. When closing on a home, every hour is critical yet I experienced a delay with them in every step. read more

Not dependable! Bad customer service. Made an appointment for inspection with Scott Osko. His office overbooked. He tried to correct the error by accommodating us on the same day at a different time, but never showed up. We had clients waiting at the property for him to come. He called last minute that he would be late because of traffic. We said that we would wait anyway because client had to take off from work because of the scheduled appointment and we the agents drove more than an hour to be at the property. At the last minute, Scott just texted that he was cancelling the appointment. Very unprofessional...As realtors, we will never use him or the Echelon company anymore. read more

I recommended my client to use Echelon for an inspection at an industrial building in Feb 2022 as a contingency for purchase. No major issues on the report so we closed escrow quick. Just couple weeks later, there was leaking on the riser room which was mainly due to the nipple corrosion on the fire sprinkler. The leak wet the carpet, the wood flooring and the wall into another unit. I emailed the inspector David D. and customer service if they have inspected the riser room because there was nothing mentioned on the report about the corrosion of fire sprinkler. No one even seems to take the responsibility to reply me at all, Not to mention their negligence in not doing a thorough inspection, this is not professional. I would not recommend this kind of service. read more

We purchased a home that was considered a remodel, but it was evident there were some issues. We had Steve C. (Senior Property Inspector) come to complete the inspections. Our main concern was the flooring that was in the kitchen in front of the dishwasher. We expressed that we wanted to know what it looked like underneath due to us being able to bounce up and down on the floor. He didn't seem to concerned and stated he thought it would have been due to the dishwasher. We had a phone conversation after this inspection and discussed our concerns. He really didn't express any serious concerns over the phone, except not being to locate a crawl space. We had to pay an additional fee of $150 to have him go out again. Our main concern was the subfloor in the kitchen. In his report he made no mention of that area and when we spoke he said everything looked good. However, now that I have torn up the laminate flooring there are holes on the subfloor that would have been visible if a visual inspection was completed in that area under neither the house. Not only was that messed, I had a roofer come out and look at the roof there were multiple holes at the top that would have been visible in a visual inspection. This is why it was important to me to have a phone call with the inspector after the inspection was complete to get an understanding of what was something that needed immediate attention. We were aware the roof would need to be replaced but to not verbally mention the holes that would need to be sealed is troublesome and could have lead to an even bigger issue. Steve C. was very kind and sometimes that works, but in this situation we paid for a service and I don't believe that I can say the service provided was any good. read more
