They were still able to complete the job before our out-of-town guests arrived for the holidays. The work was well-done and completed on time. Performing the work myself was a task I surely did dread. Although I made many calls, sadly, I received no response at all. I was about to give up, thinking I had the worst luck. I then saw an advertisement for NYSA Construction. I am delighted to say, when I made the call, they came out the following Monday. Project Manager Jason Fangmeyer promised to submit to me an estimate that would fit my budget. He said, "Yes, indeed. I know what you need." He took the time to explain. He promised he could ease my shed's pain. He said he would replace the shed's rotten wood. He promised that he really could. When I received the great estimate, the work I did permit. Don't touch this company with a ten foot pole especially for a bathroom remodel. The workers only…read morestay until 2-3pm each day, they don't come prepared so there end up being multiple trips and breaks. Because of this the work took longer than quoted I was out of a shower in a single bathroom home for an additional week, paying for a hotel room to shower. I found multiple areas of missing grout that had to be filled in with caulk since the grout had dried. The sink leaked right after instal. The bathtub drain wouldn't close and the worker informed me they didnt think it would close when they installed it but they didnt check or tell me. They had to come back not even a month later to re-caulk the bathtub because it had cracked. The bathtub caulk has cracked again, and i've found cracks in the grout of the floor tiles now. I finally took a bath for the first time and I woke up to a giant wet spot on the ceiling in the room below the bathroom the next morning. Hopefully they can figure it out and fix it but never again will I be using them.

We asked for detail on the costs for the items in the proposal and were told no, they don't provide that. Renken was the second of three firms we met with. Firm #1 provided a breakdown and Firm #3 who we met with today, said they would do so. Also, their payment structure gives them 2/3 of the total fee by the time they do measurements? Good grief. Choose another firm! ***UPDATE*** Imagine my surprise when I got a call today (June 19) from Brent Renkin who called to literally berate me for using this platform to give a one-star review. He told me one-star reviews hurt businesses. He questioned how I could give such a review. The only point of clarification that he offered was that their pre-discounted rate is good for a year, but the discounts are only in place for five days "because of fluctuations in costs." He did confirm they don't break down their pricing in any way, including labor versus materials; said that's their process. As he continued pressing me about my review, also suggesting maybe I didn't understand everything? Toward the end of the call, he talked over me so much that I ended the call to stop the tirade I was being subject to. Seriously, who wants to work with a firm like this?

Talon stood out immediately as the most professional and detail-oriented team we met. We first connected with Darren in 2023, and his depth of knowledge was apparent from the beginning. He pointed out practical design considerations and code requirements that other contractors had missed. We went back and forth on the scope for over a year, and he was consistently patient, responsive, and generous with his time. He never rushed us and always made himself available to answer questions. We started construction in August 2025-- The construction crew had an excellent work ethic. They arrived early and worked hard - something even our neighbors commented on. They took pride in their work and paid close attention to details. The workmanship was just excellent. The work site was consistently clean and organized. They did a great job at handling unexpected situations and communicating that to me. Eddie took the time to explain everything thoroughly before moving forward. Even when we made scope changes, they were flexible and incorporated those changes without making it feel stressful or complicated. They uncovered an improperly vented dryer which was a fire hazard and promptly brought it up to code.
