I had a pair of heels I needed repaired and upon arrival, the cashier wasn't sure if they even did heel repairs. After about 30 mins and many calls/texts to the manager, I was told the manager would text me later to provide a quote and to leave my items with them. They didn't even have me complete a form of what I dropped off which made me nervous. The cashier mentioned to me that I should "lie and say I had a date this weekend to get the shoes back in a timely manner" (since apparently the manager doesn't work with urgency). After a full 24hrs and an extra call to the store, I hadn't received a full quote. The next day I went and picked up my items because I was becoming very weary of leaving my items there. No timeline was given, and the items I had dropped off were quite pricey and rare. The conduct of employees was very unprofessional, and I've worked in customer service for a long time so I tend to give people a lot of grace. 0/100. Do not take anything you care about here.

In 1981, David borrowed $1,000 and put out a shingle of his own when he bought the shop from his uncle... years before the Austin Shoe Hospital even opened. At one point his shop on Congress and 5th was over 3,000 sq ft. And he had a second shop, too. He's since sold both shops and most of his equipment but he still repairs shoes (especially boots!) for a few hours each week. This man represents the old Austin that I loved so much. When I brought this up, the guy at the counter said "well you didn't ask for them to match." I didn't realize that I had to specify that I wanted them to do a good job. I picked up the suitcase without examining it closely and when I got home I realized the zipper pull was still missing. I took it back across town and the older man working this time told me that it wasn't part of the repair and that I would have to pay an additional $30 (on top of the $125 already paid) to have this tiny piece of hardware replaced. Worse, he didn't let me finish one sentence in the entire conversation. He interrupted me repeatedly, told me my experience was not what happened, and tried to mansplain to me that Tumi would not have repaired the suitcase (which they would have--we took it there first, but it would have taken longer). He was extremely rude, there was not one moment that he treated me with anything but disdain and disrespect, and I will never return to this location.

I called the store and spoke to Cindy, the manager, who asked me to bring it back so she could take a look and see what could be done. Cindy said it's a manufacturing problem. I told her, if that's the case, then why wasn't I told it was damaged before I paid? You know this looks like you're hiding something, because I didn't bring it to be cleaned in that condition. She agreed that it was not brought to her in that condition, because she is the person who put the ID numbers in all four corners before the comforter left the store for cleaning. She said cleaning isn't done in-house, and the cleaning staff doesn't communicate with the stores at all, which has been her biggest complaint. Per Cindy's request, email the corporate office on the website and see what can be done.
