Went there for a second time in the last 6 months and this visit was worse than the first and the first was not very good. It had a dirty smell to it, something like Lysol covering dirt when I entered the lobby. The wine glass had lipstick on it so I had to send it back for another glass of wine. Service was okay. This time I sat at the bar with a friend. We ordered drinks and a chicken quesadilla which came in an acceptable time frame. The problem was, half-way through the meal, a small roach popped itself out of the chopped tomatoes on the side of the plate. We called the waiter over and he rolled his eyes and said, " that wasn't there when I served it", like we planted it there? Really? They did not remove it from the bill until my friend claimed he would not pay for it. I will never go back to that place. read more

We just had lunch here and while the atmosphere was delightful as usual, I was disappointed with the service. Our waitress was very pleasant but was expected to take care of too many tables. We waited very long for our appetizers and then again for our lunch. Everything we asked for took too long. We were there an hour before we got our appetizers. I have to agree with everyone else the grounds are spectacular. Beautiful property they spend more in the up keep of the property then their staff and training. We had the worst dinner service EVER. We expected it to be bad from all that we hear but not this bad. I wont mention names but the server was a real "B" ifu catch my drift. We have been to Jackalope Ranch several times and have enjoyed it, they have live entertainment and a great menu, with lots of choices. If you just want to have drinks and some appetizers, the bar is nice and also has outside seating. Lots of TV's in the bar if you want to watch sports as well. Plenty of parking as well. Came here with family and it was not what I expected from the outside. Huge venue with a large outdoor seating area with a park and an enormous water feature, quite serene and pretty actually. Crowd was mixed, lots of families and tourists. Well-priced happy hour with a good selection of drinks and food. Recommend the ahi lettuce wraps, shrimp tacos, nachos (huge portion), calamari fries, guacamole, bbq chicken salad. Happy hour gets very busy outside so recommend coming early. I have been to Jackalope Ranch one time before and you can always count on people being impressed by the place. As you drive in you feel like a old western shoot out might break out like at Knots berry Farm. The inside of the place and outside terrace are really really beautiful though. Really 2-1/2 stars, 3 is being generous. Inattentive, aloof wait staff put a real damper on our experience at Jackalope Ranch. Our waiter completely forgot our first course, then barely uttered a word of apology. Slow drink service, and then we were served watery cocktails. Martini served in a juice cup, more or less. Our food was prepared well, but served warm, not hot. No attention to detail, adequate portions. Again, slow. The busboy was a bright spot, very nice, and kept our waters full. Good thing, because our waiter sure didn't bother to see if we wanted anything more than cocktails. Maybe just a bad night for him. The restaurant wasn't extremely crowded, so it wasn't that. We're a fun, mellow bunch, but couldn't get him to even crack a smile. The place is visually very interesting, and the patio area is really beautiful. It would be tempting to go back for a better experience. We were treated better at IHOP, and every other place we ate, over the course of the weekend. read more

Had to ask for the sauce. $9.95 for a baked potato with chili. Ahi tuna was bland. Happy hour drinks are ok, and not that great of a deal. Cliff notes review? Beautiful venue, high-priced food, confused staff. We had a party of 12 and the waitress or kitchen got 3 of the orders wrong. It might not be unusual to get 1 out of 4 orders correct in a Denny's or comparable diner, but that is not acceptable in a restaurant where the starting price of a dinner (without salad or soup) is $22 and most entrees are over $30. Food was tasty but they didn't get either of my daughter's side dishes right and neither item was a special order. If i have to give one star, Ill try to focus on something positive which was our waitress. She was great but that's about the only thing that was good about our meal. Two out of three of us sent our meals back because they were basically inedible. The manager removed them from the check which was nice but didnt make up for the dishes we were initially served. The quality of the meat was terrible and the portion sizes were awful for the price of the dishes. The restaurant is huge and has a nice atmosphere but the food is not good at all. The food was really good, however, the service was horrible. It took the server 10 minutes just to bring our drinks. Not to mention, they brought our appetizer with our main course! I don't claim to be a BBQ specialist, however I've eaten my share of ribs. I pretty much think I know the difference between spare ribs and baby back ribs, it's really not that difficult. When I ordered baby back ribs, I was pretty surprised to find a plate full of spare ribs in front of me. When I told the waiter obviously there was a mistake, he argued with me and informed me that the ranch gets "special cuts" of meat and that indeed, these were baby back ribs. They were most definitely spare ribs. What happened to "the customer is always right?" and what do you do when your waiter is a moron that wants to argue with you? In addition, the prices are ridiculous and the food (judging from all the others we were with) was nothing more than mediocre at best. Definitely won't be going back, not ever! read more

I really wanted to like Jackalope Ranch. The atmosphere is great with many seating options. The menu is amazing, but wasn't amazing was the service. We sat there patiently but eventually had to get up and ask management to find our waiter and give us menus. He came over, but still the service was less than satisfactory. Food was great. BBQ was delicious with tons of comfort food choices. I would go back just for the food and atmosphere, but would maybe choose a weekday over a weekend day when you can get more personalized service. Can feel empty at the moment as it needs a good crowd to fill up and get some atmosphere. Food can be patchy. I had lost faith in Kaiser restaurants after an expensive and horrible meal at The Chop House in Palm Desert. However, The Jackalope Ranch came through once again for us. Dustin M. provided exceptional service and with a sense of humor too. The meal (I had the rib eye) was fantastic! Update to my previous review. Food continues to slip. Atmosphere of the place is still fantastic but food and drinks just don't hold up. Margarita was too sweet and fake tasting; ribs / don't bother. Until this place gets a real BBQ set up - it will continue to be a pretender. Last year we came for two step Tuesday and had a great time. This year we came at 5 pm for dinner and two step Tuesday at 6 like their web site says and find out they changed to 7 pm. Had to sit and listen to loud conversation and two different speakers of songs. Gave me a headache. Food was pretty good.
