It's been a couple of years since we've visited Jackalope. We were in town and wanted some of their great guacamole and beer and a margarita. Well things have changed. The menu described the guac as FRESH avocados, tomatoes, peppers, Cilantro. What were served was a dark green slurry with no evidence of the described ingredients. Bleah. We asked the server if they changed their recipe and she said no, they make it fresh every few hours. Well they must have made it by taking it out of a 55 gallon drum. Even the instant bagged stuff from Costco would have been an improvement. Very disappointing. Probably won't be back. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. We came here on March 19, 2017 at 6:00 pm for my son's 11th birthday dinner. There were 6 of us, 2 adults and 4 kids (ages 10,11,12, and 15). Our waitress came over pretty quickly and took our drink order. Then a bus boy came by and asked if we wanted water and we all replied yes. Our drinks came and our server took our order and after that the service took a nose dive. We never received our water, our server didn't come to our table for another 40 minutes at this time when she did I asked about our food. At that point she told us that the food was taking 1 1/2 hours to come out. I told her that was unacceptable and if we knew that before ordering we would not have stayed. We had 4 kids that were hungry. She went back and checked and when she came back out she told us it would be 7 minutes. When the food came out it was even more disappointing after having to wait so long. My daughter ordered a loaded bake potato and she received a normal bake potato. 2 of the kids ordered the Filet Medallions, which to me is plural which means more then 1, and they received a 1 small piece of steak that when cut was about 5 pieces and they were supposed to receive the broccoli as a side and instead they received some julienne vegetables. We ordered truffle fries instead of regular fries and those came out 10 minutes after we received our meal. I ordered the beans and baked potato as my side and I received mashed potato and a baked potato. I went and spoke with the manager and she confirmed that the kitchen was slammed and she apologized. I told her it was my son's birthday and she said they would bring out a dessert for him. She also said she would give us a discount. They did give us a $30 discount and i would have been ok with that but instead of bringing out the dessert and singing my son happy birthday, a server came out and put the dessert in the middle of the table and walked away. No singing, Nothing. My son was very disappointed as was I. Not a very happy birthday dinner for him. read more

I've always loved the grounds maybe that's why I go! Our food this last trip not the experience I would of have expected. Carne asada nachos the chips were burnt, shrimp tacos..... 2 small shrimp per taco more cabbage than anything else, Cesar salad too small for the price and than the topper "The Cocktails".........ordered cranberry, pineapple & malibu order came no pineapple and drink tasted more like kool-aid super red no alcohol and service was horrible!!!! The food here is pretty good. This is the place to go when visitors come into town. It's very nice inside with a nice view. If you go out at night they have an awesome outside area with a fire pit. It's a bit on the pricey side, but it's worth it. I have not had any bad experiences with any waiters/ food; they've been nice and friendly. read more

I guess i should have read the reviews before visiting this establishment. I wanted to celebrate my daughter's 22nd birthday this evening with our family. I was hoping for a nice family meal with good service. I was very disappointed in the service. Our server appeared to be in a bad mood. Almost as if it were a chore for her to be our server. When the food FINALLY arrived, three of the meals were not accurate and two were cold. One would think that with a pretty easy going group of 10 people and the bill being over $350, the service would be at least average. We ate at the Chop House the night before (had incredible service) and thought this would be a great way to support the local businesses. I thought wrong. read more

Jackalope was our favorite go to restaurant for Happy Hour. Last couple of times (about three weeks ago) the happy hour food was not good at all. The icing on the cake was my wife made reservations for 9:45 am brunch for this past Sunday. On Saturday afternoon I received a message that there is a problem with our reservation, they no longer serve brunch in the summer and they do not open until 11 am. The setting is very pretty. Especially for the desert, where restaurants in stip malls are the norm. And then there's the food and the service. Very slow service, awful valet experience, and noisy band which destroys the relaxing outdoor ambiance. Enjoy the setting, have a drink outside and skip the meal. Jackalope needs to rethink their process for dining on the patio. Made reservation, waited one hour in bar while flagging down servers for drink order. Then was told we could not eat dinner on the patio only bar menu. Why didn't they tell us that when we got there? Manager was curt, surly, needs to go... We walked out, ended up at another restaurant, dined on the patio, all was good. Guess Jackalope would rather upset guests than serve them dinner. Find a manager that can think out of the box. OK, gonna try to give the short version. This reservation was for my Father's birthday. I called ahead, and let the person answering the phone KNOW that I am a Concierge at a pretty swanky estate in Palm Springs, making sure they knew i had NEVER been there before. (not trying to get any hand outs, mind you, but just making sure the evening goes WELL!) We are greeted & seated, and the place is BEAUTIFUL! If I ever get married, it would be THERE! ..... however..... it took 22 minutes for our server to take our drink order, another 12 to take our food order, another 7 to get our drinks (trust me, i was watching my phone to time it, Why would i send a guest to a place that takes THAT long to serve a party of 4????) Somehow, our server slipped out the back, and failed to tell anyone she was leaving, and we get stuck with a young gentleman who seems VERY annoyed at the fact that he has to serve us now! At this point, I realize they don't even know I am a Concierge.... and it continues to go down hill... notes i ACTUALLY wrote down while eating, my parents were amused... drink was PRETTY darn strong, and I can hold MY OWN! to the point I just couldn't drink it! bread served with unsalted butter (not my cup O tea...) but the corn bread was AMAZING! My father's meat was WAAAY too well done (ordered Medium, was DARK BROWN) sent it back, and it took 19 minutes to get a new one. By that time, he had finished all his sides and 2 glasses of wine. But, when the steak came back, it was GREAT! and he is more picky than I am! My food (steak and chicken combo, Mom had the same) was UH-MAY-ZING!!!!! the rosemary potatoes were to die for! And I had never had Chard before. DAMN GOOD. Nephew had the Fillet, LOVED it. OK... so there is this little girl running around the servers station??? WTF??? looks to be a managers/owners daughter, or a server couldn't get a babysitter? Not cool. Extremely annoying. and i LOVE kids. but soooooo not cool. I had read numerous bad reviews regarding this restaurant, but decided to try it myself. I went with 10 of my girlfriends for a Birthday lunch. We all ordered different items and felt the food was very good. Some of the women plan to take their husbands back, because they liked it so much. Our service was great and the atmosphere is awesome. I have been told that if you go for Happy Hour or Dinner that there is a wait time. In the desert, during the winter season, that is pretty common no matter where you go. My suggestion is go, and if you have to wait awhile enjoy the surrounding area and have a wonderful evening. If you don't like to wait go early and during the week. read more

I was very disappointed. We arrived at about noon and it wasn't very busy. We got a nice table outside. We did get our ordered taken fairly quickly, but it took much too long (20 mins+) to get our food. The food was hot, including the pickle slice. The prime rib dip was dried out as if it sat under a warmer much too long. I never saw any type of management overseeing the restaurant. Our server never checked on us until she brought the check after we were finished eating. The flies pestered us throughout our meal. I had the prime rib ranchers cut, I knew I wasnt going to finish it I had already planned to bring the rest home for lunch the next day. had my family there (from Washington)we had a small child with us when I made the reservations I requested a table out of the way due to the fact that we had a small child with a large set of lungs. I call twice to request one of the little out of the way rooms they said no problem. When we arrived we stood (as others have waiting to be noticed) by the hostess. When we were seated we were placed in the middle of a room and needless to say others were not happy. When the drinks came they were not at all what we ordered. The meal was unacceptable. The bathrooms had no toilet paper. I asked to speak to the manager and explained what had happened. After our talk it came down to pay your money and take your chances. Arrived promptly at 6 for our scheduled reservation and was told they could not seat us for 30 mins as the kitchen couldn't keep up. Once seated it was another 30 mins before we were acknowledged. Another angry customer seated at the next table had waited 20 mins to get his bill. When the waitress finally arrived she was totally frazzled. She took our order and it was another 30mins to get our cold and dried up food. So for a 6 pm reservation we got our food at 7:30. Unacceptable. I saw the manager on the way out and asked him why they take reservations if they can't honor them. His nasty reply was " we'll it's the full season here and that's how it is." My husband and I went for dinner and drinks yesterday evening, 8-2-13, it was just great as usual. We sat at the bar for the evening and also enjoyed the live entertainment. The bartender, Ray, was very attentive to our needs, with great suggestions. Our high quality steaks were cooked to perfection and we really enjoyed the twice baked potato. The only suggestion goes to the chef, an additional serving of seasonal vegetables to the dinner steak plate as part of the price is needed. My boyfriend and I took a motorcycle drive from San Diego to Indio. My friend told us to try Jackalope Ranch, and I'm sure glad we did! The atmosphere is really cool. They have live music which was really nice to listen to while enjoying a great meal. I had the ribs...just falls off the bones...so good!! My boyfriend had the pork chop and he said that was really moist as well. Our waiter, Manny, was very attentive as well as the three different managers that stopped by to see how everything was. Lourdes (One of the managers, I believe) recommended the Apple Carmel bars for dessert, but I went with the Strawberry Shortcake...which was just ok, should have gone with her choice. After dinner, we sat at the bar to have a drink and listen to the music. Ray, the bartender was awesome! He was very attentive, knew his tequila and was quite personable. Service was excellent. Live in La Quinta and been there several times. Food has always been very good but service had been inconsistent in the past. Clearly there has been a focus to improve as three things were noticeably better. 1) hostesses both greeted my family and I with big smiles and a welcome. Not always the case in the past. 2) we were actually offered choices of where to sit (a biggie for me). And 3) Our server Martha was absolutely the best. Great BBQ ribs, flavorful and moist chicken. Overall a great experience at a large volume BBQ joint. Our Mac n cheese didn't come dusted with Doritos like the menu said, had to et them added after-the-fact and was a taaaaaad bland. The grilled artichoke bottoms weren't anything like what it suggested, In fact they were simply marinated artichoke hearts in a lettuce cup. This was my fifth visit and I am not sure I will go again. The hostess was rude. My ribs were tough...not sure they were really baby back ribs. Had to ask for the cornbread andmuffins ,which in the past were always promptly delivered to the table without having to request them. My cole slaw was under my ribs and covered with bbq sauce.
