I had the privilege of tasting a Philly Cheese Steak with bacon bits and Jerk sauce today. It was stupendous. Having tasted Pats and had some great bodega's back in Brooklyn that served amazing phillys, Jackie's is on par with the greats. The meat was tender and juicy. The Jerk sauce gave the sandwich a mildly spicy Jamaican flare. The complimentary cucumber sauce was refreshing to bite into. It enhanced the flavor and wiped your palate for the next mouthful all at the same time. The staff was kind and accommodating. This has to be the hidden gem of Augusta. Cheesesteak was fantastic, and their fries are probably the best I've ever had. As if I wasn't already going to give 5 stars based on the food, the atmosphere is phenomenal and the staff is even better. Everyone working there was extremely friendly and genuine, taking the time to talk with me as I waited for my food to come out (which didn't take long at all). They were even giving out CD's with the music they had playing in the restaurant this month. This place is located off the beaten path, right across from an elementary school. It is a small house converted into a restaurant. The driveway to the gravel parking lot is located to the right of the building. From the minute you walk in, you feel like you are meeting at someone's house for a meal. This is one of the most welcoming and friendly places that I have dined at in a while! They offer dine in and carry out options. If you choose to dine in, then you get to pick your table in a couple of the rooms that they have. The walls of this place are covered head to toe in the history of this restaurant, which I find fascinating. It is a family owned business that has been in business for over 19 years (WOW!), and I actually got to meet the son. I ordered the "regular" sized Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with a side of fries. You are able to customize the sandwich with different types of peppers, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and/or mushrooms. I decided to add onions, mushrooms, cheese, and banana peppers. This was the BEST Philly Cheese Steak EVER! The bread was fresh and toasted. The peppers and mushrooms were blended nicely with the steak and the cheese was perfectly melted. Needless to say, I ate it ALL. The fries are a must-order too. They are hand-cut and cooked fresh to order. They are seasoned well and taste great. Don't forget to use your yelp check in for a FREE cookie. I got the Oatmeal Raisin one and it was delicious. I wanted to try a slice of their famous cheesecake, but they were out of the original one. The restaurant has that down home southern feel to it and was well ventilated, well kept and most importantly clean! I see why this intimate restaurant is ranked #77 on Yelp's top 100! Went today after reading the article on Facebook.... Have lived in AUGUSTA my whole life and had never heard of it before. Limited parking, and limited inside seating but customer service was fantastic. We ordered the philly Chez stk, along with the soul rolls and homemade ranch dressing.. Philly was good but to much bread for me.. (prob would have been better if wrapped in foil to steam the bread a little bit as I found it kinda hard/dry) BUT the lack of star for the philly was made up from them "SOUL ROLLS"... they are amazing! If I visit again, I will most definitely skip the sandwich and just have the Chez Stk Soul rolls-and their handcut fries... I also loved the fact that they serve Kool-aid ! (You get a Can Coke, water, or Kool aid!) News Channel was there*and Jackie herself came through several times to make sure everyone was ok! Her husband actually waited on us and he was GREAT! It did take a while for our food but with ALL THE NEW FOOT traffic I don't think they are staffed to handle it.. Would we return? Yes! They had been so busy over the last few days they hadn't had a chance to make any of the peach cobbler--which was a bummer but maybe next time! Hidden jewel found from a simple article on Facebook! Everything is good here! The philly, the wings, cheesecake, and the kool-aid were all good. Unfortunately they were out of turkey when I went. I've only been able to get a slice of cheesecake once, because once they're out they are out. I had the red velvet and it was delicious. First I need to thank the Yelpers for directing me here. It was hands down the best eating experience during my week in Augusta. I tried a variety of places, some we're ranked higher but the overall experience of food, service, and atmosphere didn't compare. They are only 18 minutes from FT Gordon...leave post and eat here! This place looks cozy and welcoming from the outside and it is! Parking is in the rear. You walk in and are greeted by the chef and his team. **Spoiler alert** they love to put out great food! You can take out or dine in. I chose to dine in and was seated in their dining room which is brightly colored with different artworks and the sounds of 80' music (Michael Jackson, Madonna, etc) in the background. There was seating for about 8 comfortably amongst three tables. I had the Philly Cheese steak known as the kitchen sink...delicious and true to a Philly Cheese steak it was. It was accompanied by some wonderfully seasoned fries and I washed it down with a large Kool-Aid (for my inner child). They have a variety of beverages including sweet tea and sodas but I couldn't resist the Kool-Aid. Did I mention it was all delicious...I followed it up with their made from scratch Red Velvet Cheesecake. The chef, her son...hit a home run with the food. I had to take an order with me for dinner. To top is all off, they give each customer a music CD with a mix of jazz, blues, etc. Really nice touch! Thank you Miss Jackie, your son, and the team! I read the reviews and they were spot on! Everything about this restaurant is A+++!! The staff is absolutely amazing and they definitely make you feel like family!
