Quality/Quantity - We still only really come here mainly for their Cactus Creek Steakhouse, see other reviews. Also, we finally got to try their happy hour. But still have not made it to both the beer and wine dining pairings! I look forward to attending one of those in the future. Finally able to visit during Hot August Nights. Sadly, not surprising, but nothing special. See my Hot August Night review and pictures. Atmosphere - Local casino. Still slightly outdated if you ask me. Very smokey. They do have a smoke free section, but it's tiny... A few dining options, but we only eat at the steakhouse. Plenty of parking, even with events like the Hot August Nights. Shows the lack of attendance. Small gift shop. Events; see their website. Service - Good. Mostly self service. Well, the one time we got here too early for dinner, we never got waitress service on the slot machine (over 15 minutes wait). Price - Depends on how much you lose at the casino. The food was horrible. They gave me rotten fruit. The girls who ordered the macaroni and cheese. They wanted to serve it in a bread bowl, but they didn't want it that way, but they had bacon in it and I took a bite one of them liked chicken nuggets, nothing and I agree with them terrible have. This turnaround probably will never go To improve the quality at the Bonanza is to hire more people and cook back up whatever to make their food much better and their attentiveness even greater other than that we're not going back read more

For the first time ever, we attended Bonanza Casino's "Uncorked & On Tap: Brewed & Crafted -Summer Edition at Bonanza Casino's Branding Iron Cafe" on 06/27/26. Quite a delicious and delightful experience! The Bonanza Hosts, Kitchen and Servers were EXCELLENT. Everything was SO DELICIOUS, and the service was impeccable. While the main course could have been hotter, the beer, provided by Loast Coast Brewery, AND the food overall, from the appetizer, to the salad, to the Main Course and finally the wonderful Dessert, was an unforgettable culinary experience. The Lost Coast beers, Downtown Brown, Tangerine Wheat, Hazy IPA, and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Milk Stout were remarkable, and luckily all available at our area Liquor Stores. I believe there will be another Beer Dinner Tasting in September, and we plan on attending that one also! read more

We went to Bonanza Casino's Branding Iron Restaurant for brunch. They were pretty busy the day we visited, the parking lot was full and the restaurant was already packed with diners but as soon as we approached the hostess station, we were warmly greeted and shown to a 4-top booth in the rear of the restaurant, next to the buffet-- convenient. We ordered a round of drinks from our server, Susan and the lovely Latin bus-person dropped off some steak knives and extra napkins (unfortunately I didn't see her name tag). The buffet had a mixture of breakfast and lunch items: scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, sausage and bacon plus Eggs Benedict and then BBQ ribs, pizza, mashed potatoes and gravy, and beef stew. There's also a huge salad bar, cocktail shrimp and shrimp ceviche, the carving station where they were serving ham and prime rib, the omelette station and the dessert bar. 3 out of 4 of us tried the prime rib (I'm not really big on prime rib), and found it a little dry and almost inedible. Fortunately. I opted for mostly breakfast; their bacon is some of the best and I don't even like bacon but I make sure to eat a few strips whenever we have breakfast at Bonanza Casino's Branding Iron Restaurant. The eggs and corned beef hash were good too; I did get a BBQ rib and a little bit of beef stew. I liked it; both items tasted good. Overall, we had a nice dining experience: the food was mostly good, the price was decent and the service was friendly and attentive. read more

We had dinner at the Mexican buffet on Friday, August 21 in the Branding Iron We were looking forward to a little evening out, as we haven't been out in a long time. We were greeted by a server, and seated quickly, in a booth around the corner from the buffet. We got there early, to make sure to find a parking place, so they weren't serving yet. We started with cocktails, and we're one of the first people through the buffet line, so the food should have been fresh and hot, right? First, the salad bar, if you can call it that. I was looking forward to maybe some broccoli, some sunflower seeds, black olives, a little crunch, some variety, but what I got was lettuce and some shredded cheese. The salad bar was so basic it was maybe a salad sparse. Then, on to the buffet. They offered the usual suspects, tacos, cheese enchiladas, chilie rellanos, refried beans, rice, and assorted meats. We tried all of the above, and everything was cold. Not mildly warm, but cold, to the point of being inedible, and we were some of the first people through the buffet! Not only was the food cold, it was well, awful. Tasteless, bland, andcthe red sauce used on the enchiladas and rellanos was just plain nasty. If you're going to use sauce out of a can, at least use one that tastes half way decent. And the carving station meats were cold, and so tough my husband literally could not cut them with the knife we were given with our silverware. Much of the food we got on the buffet sat there uneaten. Even some of the desserts were inedible. The chocolate cream pie was good, but the carrot cake, which is one of my favorites, looked like it had been sitting out for days, and one bite confirmed it. Frankly, the Bonanza should be ashamed. We spoke with a manager, and she was very kind, but the upper management at the Bonanza is clearly not doing there job. My husband compared this food to "Army food", the worst food he can imagine. I can't imagine how this food ever left the kitchen. I've worked in F&B, front and back of the house, and I have no idea how any chef or manager would allow that food to leave the kitchen, it's just incomprehensible. What in the Wild Wild West did I just stumble upon?? The Bonanza Casino is a family run spot, small but overflowing with charm. Honestly, it's a hidden gem in Reno that deserves more love. Highlights: 1. The Muppets movie was filmed here, and the casino didn't even charge Disney to use their space as a set. 2. Despite its small size, the casino houses a gorgeous steakhouse (which I haven't tried yet) and a huge cafe, complete with a buffet on select days. 3. Some of their staff have been there for up to 40 years, a clear sign they're valued and treated well. 4. Their Denver omelette is absolutely one of the best in Reno. Generous, moist, flavorful, and topped with flavorful cheddar cheese. 5. Cafe workers like Laura & Luyen are some of the sweetest people you'll meet. Even when busy, they checked in on me and made sure my drink was always topped off. 6. Their pancakes are light, fluffy, and delicious and come with whipped butter. Sure, the texture doesn't hold up as well under syrup, but they're still super delicious. 7. Bacon was drool worthy. Thin, crunchy, slightly fatty perfection. Seriously, some of the best in town. The only thing I'd improve is their sourdough. It was a bit dense for my taste. I actually discovered this cafe thanks to a hot air balloon pilot I met, sponsored by the casino (yes, I was so lucky to have been in the balloon). He was so skilled that he chose to land in the casino parking lot. If you don't know, hot air balloons are pretty much at the mercy of the winds. Every year during the Great Reno Balloon Races, the Bonanza sets up a special text for casino members to show appreciation. Sometimes the "hottest" breakfast spots are the ones with strong social media, but that doesn't mean they're the only places serving legit food. This hidden gem is proof of that. Nope. The Sunday morning crew was not on any type of game that involved customer service. Table was disgusting. The magazine I brought in stuck to it. You could see it had not been cleaned. Not to mention the tables are tiny for two people. The hostess' attitude was horrible. Asked to seat in an area farther from a crowd and got an eye roll and huff. Maybe that's why I got the sticky table... The waitress and assistant server were excellent. Full coffees on time, congenial personalities. Food delivered in a reasonable time with the obligatory check up that wasn't disruptive. I had the Bonanza Biscuits and Gravy. It was as expected. Decent, good portion, egg cooked just right. Hash browns were undercooked. Mostly still potato white without the browned crisp. Disappointed there. My son had the cowboy skillet. He inhaled it. It looked well prepared with an excellent presentation! Bottom line. Food was average but well prepared and presented Attending waitress was good Hostess and dining area sanitation was sub standard and disappointing. Could not recommend, but, bad days happen so I will give it a round two one day to check for consistency. read more

This review is for the Branding Iron Cafe inside Bonanza Casino. We stopped in for a brunch on a very busy weekend. It seems they serve all kinds of food at anytime of the day. Like home style that nobody seems to cook as good as Branding Iron does at their own home. Well today was breakfast and it was fantastic. The biscuits and gravy with crispy hash browns and bacon. Where too many restaurants go wrong is the gravy. It has to have some grease from sausage or bacon. It did here and I loved it. My wife had eggs Benedict and home fries which she loved as well. Coffee was hot and strong. It has a western motif like the entire casino. It was clean and there was zero smoke smell. But maybe the best part of our meal was the extraordinary service. We were taken care of and treated so well. This restaurant will see us again and it won't be long. So for big portions cooked just right at a very affordable price drop by. read more

We had a GREAT time at the casino this weekend. Great local casino. We did have a great experience at the steak house and casino! The food and liquor selection is awesome! I was surprised by the high end whiskey and tequilla selection at the bar! It is worth the trip just for this one! I had some ones I had always wanted to try including Handy rye, fantastic. They told us of their specialty bourbon margarita, which was delicious and may be a new summer favorite. David at the bar was an great server! The food was the rage at the bar. Robin was an awome host and suggested the blackened prime rim. This was echoed by others sitting at the bar, we HAD to get it. It was great. I ordered the Bison, which was really great. To top it off, we got cheesecake and the bread pudding bites. I don't eat much cheesecake, it was good. The bread pudding bites are also worth the trip. read more

A bit off the beatin' path. A cozy little stop to relax with a drink and catch part of the game on one of their big screens and get in some slots action. There's several various machines to grab Mrs. E's interest. They even offer an intimate lounge where the ever helpful Gretchen and some of her friends can fetch you something from behind the bar. This tends to be where I end up when we visit. There's a neat little gift shop as you enter and a William Hill player's book further inside. As with any casino, join their player's club, countless rewards await you. Remember, if you're gambling, they're comping your drinks, but, don't forget to tip your servers! my wife and i went to the Friday night mexican buffet. worst food we ever ate. There is no flavor to any of the sauces and the food was luke warm on the steamers. the salad bar had some willty looking lettuce and cheese with nothing else to put on the salad. they had tacos with ground meat and nothing else to put on them. The shrimp was so smelly we couldn't eat it. There was only 3 other items to eat, the rellanos looked burn and my wife said there was something inside of them she didn't recognize. the cheese enchiladas had no taste and i almost got my knife out to cut them. the carnitas had no flavor except for the lime juice i squeezed on them. We really wanted to try the Thursday special, the fried chicken. It was fantastic! Brandy was a great server and the chicken was delicious and tender. Most of the green beans were under the breast of chicken. Of course, I had to bring most home because of my small appetite but I ate all the green beans, a little of the mashed potatoes and gravy, took the bread home too. Definitely do NOT recommend the cafe there. Food was Terrible, I got a cheeseburger. ( best burger in Reno they advertise) DEFINITELY NOT. The patty was dry, onions on it were old, pickles were weird tasting. My partner got a chicken fried steak EVEN WORSE. the chicken fried steak was flavorless and dry even with all the gravy. The veggies were cold and soggy. The service was just as bad. There were only 4 other people in there and we still waited over 30 mins for our food. Definitely will NOT be going back. read more

From salads to the dessert they use the fresh ingredients and made sure each dish was plated, right. The service here was excellent. Our server's name was Alexa and she took care of all of our needs. I can't say enough good things about the service in this restaurant. Breakfast this morning at Bonanza was very good. The hostess, Luyen, was so sweet and my server, Cindy, was very attentive. I grade restaurants based on two dishes: corned beef hash and chicken friend steak. Both are easy to do right and just as easy to cheap out on! Well, the corned beef hash is on point - nicely ground, well browned, and a perfect blend of potatoes. I can hardly wait to try the chicken fried steak! read more
