    DESSERT!

For the first time ever, we attended Bonanza Casino's "Uncorked & On Tap: Brewed & Crafted -Summer Edition at Bonanza Casino's Branding Iron Cafe" on 06/27/26. Quite a delicious and delightful experience! The Bonanza Hosts, Kitchen and Servers were EXCELLENT. Everything was SO DELICIOUS, and the service was impeccable. While the main course could have been hotter, the beer, provided by Loast Coast Brewery, AND the food overall, from the appetizer, to the salad, to the Main Course and finally the wonderful Dessert, was an unforgettable culinary experience. The Lost Coast beers, Downtown Brown, Tangerine Wheat, Hazy IPA, and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Milk Stout were remarkable, and luckily all available at our area Liquor Stores. I believe there will be another Beer Dinner Tasting in September, and we plan on attending that one also!

We went to Bonanza Casino's Branding Iron Restaurant for brunch. They were pretty busy the day we visited, the parking lot was full and the restaurant was already packed with diners but as soon as we approached the hostess station, we were warmly greeted and shown to a 4-top booth in the rear of the restaurant, next to the buffet-- convenient. We ordered a round of drinks from our server, Susan and the lovely Latin bus-person dropped off some steak knives and extra napkins (unfortunately I didn't see her name tag). The buffet had a mixture of breakfast and lunch items: scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, sausage and bacon plus Eggs Benedict and then BBQ ribs, pizza, mashed potatoes and gravy, and beef stew. There's also a huge salad bar, cocktail shrimp and shrimp ceviche, the carving station where they were serving ham and prime rib, the omelette station and the dessert bar. 3 out of 4 of us tried the prime rib (I'm not really big on prime rib), and found it a little dry and almost inedible. Fortunately. I opted for mostly breakfast; their bacon is some of the best and I don't even like bacon but I make sure to eat a few strips whenever we have breakfast at Bonanza Casino's Branding Iron Restaurant. The eggs and corned beef hash were good too; I did get a BBQ rib and a little bit of beef stew. I liked it; both items tasted good. Overall, we had a nice dining experience: the food was mostly good, the price was decent and the service was friendly and attentive.

We have a wonderful breakfast there today, I had my regular Heavenly Burger it was cooked to perfection. The fries golden brown and crispy. We had Cindy and Sonya . When going to the Branding Iron at Bonanza you can get anything on the menu at 9 am. Including spaghetti and meatballs!

Quaint, rustic... Southwest style in the sierras. Incongruous.

Nope. The Sunday morning crew was not on any type of game that involved customer service. Table was disgusting. The magazine I brought in stuck to it. You could see it had not been cleaned. Not to mention the tables are tiny for two people. The hostess' attitude was horrible. Asked to seat in an area farther from a crowd and got an eye roll and huff. Maybe that's why I got the sticky table... The waitress and assistant server were excellent. Full coffees on time, congenial personalities. Food delivered in a reasonable time with the obligatory check up that wasn't disruptive. I had the Bonanza Biscuits and Gravy. It was as expected. Decent, good portion, egg cooked just right. Hash browns were undercooked. Mostly still potato white without the browned crisp. Disappointed there. My son had the cowboy skillet. He inhaled it. It looked well prepared with an excellent presentation! Bottom line. Food was average but well prepared and presented Attending waitress was good Hostess and dining area sanitation was sub standard and disappointing. Could not recommend, but, bad days happen so I will give it a round two one day to check for consistency.

This review is for the Branding Iron Cafe inside Bonanza Casino. We stopped in for a brunch on a very busy weekend. It seems they serve all kinds of food at anytime of the day. Like home style that nobody seems to cook as good as Branding Iron does at their own home. Well today was breakfast and it was fantastic. The biscuits and gravy with crispy hash browns and bacon. Where too many restaurants go wrong is the gravy. It has to have some grease from sausage or bacon. It did here and I loved it. My wife had eggs Benedict and home fries which she loved as well. Coffee was hot and strong. It has a western motif like the entire casino. It was clean and there was zero smoke smell. But maybe the best part of our meal was the extraordinary service. We were taken care of and treated so well. This restaurant will see us again and it won't be long. So for big portions cooked just right at a very affordable price drop by.

We had a GREAT time at the casino this weekend. Great local casino. We did have a great experience at the steak house and casino! The food and liquor selection is awesome! I was surprised by the high end whiskey and tequilla selection at the bar! It is worth the trip just for this one! I had some ones I had always wanted to try including Handy rye, fantastic. They told us of their specialty bourbon margarita, which was delicious and may be a new summer favorite. David at the bar was an great server! The food was the rage at the bar. Robin was an awome host and suggested the blackened prime rim. This was echoed by others sitting at the bar, we HAD to get it. It was great. I ordered the Bison, which was really great. To top it off, we got cheesecake and the bread pudding bites. I don't eat much cheesecake, it was good. The bread pudding bites are also worth the trip.

Today is my son's birthday and he wanted to try Bonanza to eat, no gambling! So we met my daughter and husband at the restaurant and it is a nice looking restaurant! Good service, as the young man trying to get the milk shake machine to work! The older waitress did a good job! Food was good and we all enjoyed it! Thank you!

This is one of the oldest casinos in Reno , according to a staff member and it is run like a family business. The food was top notch in Cactus Creek Steakhouse inside the casino. The ambiance is typical of a casino and there is always someone to help you navigate the floor to find the restaurants.

    That's a Big One!

The ordering process was a little disengaging from the start. You can either scan a QR code to order or walk up to the counter if you prefer not to use technology. What I found a little ironic was that after ordering this way, the checkout process still suggests a 25% tip for the service. I'm certainly happy to tip for good service, but the experience felt more like ordering takeout than dining at a higher-end restaurant. For our meal, we had a filet, small wedge salad, and potatoes, along with a Jack and Coke Zero and a michelada. The steak was cooked perfectly and the food was genuinely excellent. The staff was also nice and friendly, so I have no complaints there. The biggest issue was the atmosphere. It was extremely windy outside, and the front door was left open, so we were freezing for much of the meal. They also brought out five cookies for dessert. One was soft and enjoyable, while the other four were so hard that they honestly became the comedy portion of the meal. Our total was around $90. I did not leave a 25% tip. If this were a traditional full-service steakhouse, I would have tipped more than $10 because I'm happy to reward good service. But at this price point, I expect the luxury of sitting at my table, having someone check on us, being able to ask questions, and receiving full table service from start to finish. I don't really want to stand at a cash register to order when I'm spending $90 on dinner. Would I come back? Probably not. The food was very good and the steak was cooked perfectly, but at this price point, I'm looking for a full-service dining experience rather than something that feels closer to upscale counter service.

I know things can go wrong occasionally, but this seemed to be a string of events. Once we ordered, it took a while to get food. I'm not complaining about this, we were a large party. When we did get our food, all of it was either wrong, cold, or undercooked. There were no wait staff around to tell, apparently they were short-staffed that night. I walked up and got the manager, who came back to the table to hear us out. They ended up comping all of the food and by the time we had gotten this far, it was already later in the evening and we just decided to salvage what we could. Some of the food was edible, so we did what we could. We kept waiting for someone to come around to clear dishes comma but we never saw anyone. There was an empty table between us and the next table over. There was an empty table between us and the next table over, and they had started stacking they're empty dishes on that empty table. We decided, we might as well do the same thing otherwise the dishes would stay put. By the end of the meal, the entire table was full of dishes. We ended up going somewhere else later that evening to actually get some food we could eat. I'm really sad that this meal went so poorly when we were trying to celebrate a birthday. We will never be going to this restaurant again. Additional after the fact, the sign outside that advertises the business has been broken for months. One would think that if you were a serious business that you would want to fix that. It reflects on your image. It makes me sad too, because they are right across the street from the Peppermill and they could be getting so much business.

My experience was quite different, we had a party of six celebrating a very special occasion. Thinking this Steakhouse is rated 4 stars we thought we couldn't go wrong, that was our first mistake. Of the first 5 salads brought out they had to take em back because of the 'off' odor. Our server explained that maybe it was the radishes (not what I would expect from a four star steakhouse). When the entrées came out three people had ordered filet mignon's, which I was told was very tasty. One of the patrons had ordered New York strip (three of us confirmed that) and was given and charged for a filet mignon rather than taking it back to the kitchen and giving the patron what they ordered. It was unfortunate, but the service in my opinion was not four-star they did check on us occasionally and kept the water glasses full and 'maybe' they even asked if everything was OK. Not wanting to spend $60 for a steak (I was a guest) I ordered the seafood roast. It turned out to be a very tasty bisque, but a tasty bowl of soup shouldn't cost $35.00. Give em try if you want to gamble on a great experience. My recommendation is to go to Western Steakhouse, enjoy the much better ambience, 120% better experience for maybe 10% more. You do you, all six of us know where we'll go next time.

To be 100% honest, these aren't my favorite snails. White wine takes up room that unctuous butter and garlic should, making them seem watery, thin and a little tough. Hubby had that evening's special sea bass with polenta and I had the double cut lamb chops, both entrées were PERFECTION. We ordered the mushroom medley and sauteed spinach for sides. The mushrooms were luxurious, but the spinach was brothy, again not buttery or creamy at all. Not bad in any way, just not the steakhouse staple creamy spinach I was expecting. The eating area is very spacious and commodious. Though this place has a casual vibe, the presentation of the food is totally fine-dining material. Each dish, especially the Citrus glazed salmon, is served as a piece of art. I've been here around three times before I installed yelp, and am excited to finally leave a review. The short rib, was absolutely amazing. The short rib was so tender, and each brussels sprout was a literal flavor bomb. The brussels sprouts I've had at other places have flavor only on the exterior, whereas the brussels sprouts here play a different game. The short rib is served in a really big portion. Though it may look dark from the photos, there are actually three big pieces. I loved loved loved the sauce; there's a sweet tangy taste to it, though it reminded me a lot of BBQ sauce. This short rib was a win. Chefs kiss. The truffle lasagna was terrific; so much sauce in between the lasagna layers. I could absolutely make out the truffle flavor in this dish. However, I recommend eating this dish quickly, as the lasagna stiffens really quickly. Thirty minutes after it was served, I went it to take another bite, and it wasn't as good anymore. The ceasar salad +beef is a great choice for a light but filling meal when you're currently on a healthy diet. Each dish here comes in giant portions, but even after you finish this salad, it won't feel too heavy on your body. I think it's because Washoe is really light on the dressing levels; perfecting the amount so it doesn't overtake the fresh flavor of the greens or leave the salad bland and insipid. However, the beef was a bit too well done and on the firmer side. The first time coming here, I was totally shocked to find out that the food they served did not match the relaxed and informal vibe the setting sets up. Not a bad thing at all. Creates a laid-back vibe while still getting high quality food.

We went with a large group, so we were able to sample the exotic and the more traditional. Starting with the Double Elk Chops, featured on Dives, Diners and Drive-Ins, the Elk is a bit on the gamey side, tender with a hint of lamb taste but a finish of liver, it is not for everyone. Scottish Eggs is a soft boiled egg, wrapped in sausage, then deep fried. It is served with a beer mustard. My friend, from England, was quick to order the Scottish Eggs. He reported that they were a bit over cooked but otherwise fine. 6/10. The Kangaroo Philly Cheese Steak sounds more exotic than the taste. For this sandwich I would have appreciated a bit more Kangaroo :-) but otherwise was good. Our friends seemed to enjoy the Boar Schnitzel and the portion was certainly large, as were all the portions at the Washoe Public House. The Short Ribs were so tended and a just a touch on the sweet side. My wife liked the sweetness but as a full meal, it was a bit sweet for my palate. I had the Washoe Burger with Bacon. A solid burger. I would have preferred my patty a bit less cooked but it was fine none the less. Rich with flavor, a solid choice. The fries were good. Nothing spectacular. It you are looking for different, Washoe Public House just might be the ticket. Fantastic cuisine, located close to the River and other entertainment.

My in-laws have been raving about this place for quite some time, and we finally made our way to…read moreReno! My mother-in-law surprised us with a dinner here for our one-year anniversary, and it did not disappoint. The service was wonderful everyone was so friendly and attentively and the restaurant has such a beautiful, classic elegance to it. We ordered the Chateaubriand and OMG... this could seriously feed four people! I absolutely loved the presentation. They bring it out, slice it tableside, and show you the cut right in front of you. Such a nice touch! We also had the crème brûlée, and they surprised us with a chocolate mousse cake for our anniversary. They even give you a palate cleanser of lemon sorbet with non-alcoholic bubbly, which was SO good. Another really sweet touch: they ask to take your photo and then give you a beautiful printed copy to take home! It made the anniversary dinner feel even more special and gave us a little keepsake from the night. Everything from the food to the service and all the little details made the evening memorable. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great steak, wonderful service, and a more elegant dining experience in Reno. Definitely a special-occasion kind of place!

The service is good but the food has gone down hill. The ambience is great but you do have to walk thru a smoky casino to get to the steak house.
